Friends with Combinations

While there were whisperings of a possible Pattern streak in Mega Millions, Lotto Texas and Powerball were on a different path Saturday night. No playbacks were to be had July 10, 2021, nor were there Pattern encores. Instead, these lotteries embraced a love of repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations, Powerball especially so. The jackpots graciously grew to $7.5 and $137 million, respectively.

That Good Old Fashioned Pattern Charm

The start of the holiday weekend may have been the start of something else in Mega Millions. It was on July 2nd that the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was invited for drinks and fireworks. The holiday weekend has since ended, but the Pattern decided to stick around for much longer! Long enough, in fact, that a three-peat happened. With the {3-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat came a jackpot boost to $104 million.

The {3-1-1-1} three-peat of July 9, 2021 was thanks to 6, 37, 39, 41, 46 and MB 17. This Pattern has now played 134 times.

Playback Dreams

As we venture further into July, we must face the inevitable. Whether it’s within a few weeks or even a few days, the prospect of work and/or school looms over the horizon. July 7, 2021 was one such opportunity to keep the beast at bay. Those millions would allow for more freedom. Freedom like early retirement, stock market investment, college tuition/loan payoff, and for the brave (foolish?), bypassing college altogether.

If you played Wednesday night, you’ll need to deal with work and school a bit longer. However, there was a silver lining! With the six winning numbers going unpicked in both Lotto Texas and Powerball, their respective jackpots rose to $7.25 million and $127 million. And we have a playback to thank, at least in one lottery.

The Mega Millions After-Holiday Pattern Encore

The Fourth of July may have come and gone, but that didn’t mean there weren’t any leftovers. Unused fireworks, ribs and wieners that weren’t eaten at the barbecue, those sorts of things, true. However, in this case, “leftovers” meant a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore. With that encore came a jackpot that grew to $94 million.

There be Lottery Fireworks

To our readers in the United States: Happy Fourth of July! May it be full of grilling, companionship, relaxation, and fireworks.

On July 3, 1996, one movie took the world by storm. An alien invasion movie with plucky, loveable characters, special effects that (mostly) hold up to this day, and a stellar (no pun intended) soundtrack. That movie was Independence Day, and for everyone who saw it in the theater, especially for the 90s kids out there (like yours truly), it was a thrill like no other. Twenty-five years later, and the movie has become a staple of holiday viewing.

July 3, 2021 saw a dazzling display of fireworks from both Lotto Texas and Powerball. A three-peat and a playback were featured, and the jackpots shot up once more! The Lotto Texas jackpot blasted its way up to $7 million, and Powerball’s jackpot soared to $113 million.

Mega Millions’ Completely Not Over-the-Top Celebration

No Independence Day celebration is complete without fireworks! If you’re the type who can’t wait until the holiday to see them, they were more visible in the sky over the neighborhood than in Mega Millions. Given how the Fourth of July holiday is known for its bombastic display of explosions, an opportunity for a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak went unrealized. However, Friday night did not disappoint. A jackpot doesn’t need fanfare to jump to $82 million.

Lottery Nostalgia Bombs

Next to Christmas and your birthday, summer most likely rounded out your top three of “Best Time of the Year”. Summer meant several weeks away from teachers and homework, days filled with games, swimming, popsicles, and checking out the latest movies.

One summer, you’re an eight-year-old playing video games. Flash forward twenty years and your summers are spent toiling away in the working world. Summer vacation then becomes a couple of weeks you have to time just right, provided you have at least that much time saved up. Even if you happen to be a kid at heart, those nostalgia pangs come rushing in, and summer, a wondrous time when everything was once new, is a peak time for it.

If it’s any consolation, at least you’re not a lottery. Lotteries are constantly bombarded with nostalgia, some more than others. This past Saturday night wasn’t any different! And yet, lotteries are tied to the present and future, too. The (then recent) numbers that played June 26, 2021 were responsible for the future jackpots of $6.5 million for Lotto Texas and $88 million for Powerball.
