A Mega Millions at Rest

The dust has settled, and the hype has died down. Mega Millions saw no need for big scares or big plays October 30th. As it took a (well-deserved) break, the grand prize eased upward to $52 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 20, 31, 39, 46, 49, and MB 23, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 115th appearance.

This Pattern has played in 28.3% of the 406 Mega Millions drawings and was last seen on October 19, 2018.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order made its 39th appearance and has now played in 33.9% of the 115 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.61% of all 406 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the [1-2-2-1] General Order played on October 16, 2018.

Now with eight appearances, the 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 20.5% of the 39 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 6.96% of the 115 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 406 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order played 1.97% of the time. The 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on June 5, 2018.

Three Number Combination(s)

Part of the resting period was the lack of repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Mega Millions looks to be off to a quiet start for November. Still, could a Pattern encore add a little “oomph” to Friday night?

The Spell Has Been Broken

Lotto Texas held steady with a quaint, but desirable, $15.25 million.

Powerball, on the other hand, was explosive. For months, Powerball had been amassing great power, and it took a player in Iowa and another in New York to take it down October 27th. With the prize now claimed, Powerball got knocked back down to a more “normal” $40 million.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There was a repeating Four-Number Combination, just not in Lotto Texas.

That was not a typo.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern was the tool that brought Powerball down to size, with winning numbers 8, 12, 13, 19, 27, and PB 4.

The beginning of something bombastic. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, this one is not very common. With 21 appearances, and 320 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has now played 6.57% of the time. This {3-2-1} Pattern previously played in the July 11, 2018 drawing.

The [3-2-1] General Order made its 11th appearance and has now played in 52.4% of the 21 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 320 drawings into consideration, this General Order has played 3.44% of the time. The [3-2-1] General Order played alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned July 11th drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 18.1% of the eleven drawings where [3-2-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 9.52% of the 21 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 320 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.625% of the time. The 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut on April 18, 2018.

Four-Number Combination

If Powerball was going to go down, it was going to go out with a bang! The lone repeating Four (yes, four!)-Number Combination of the evening was 8, 13, 27, and PB 4.

This Combination made its debut in the November 25, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Naturally, nestled in that repeating Four-Number Combination were four repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 8, 27, PB 4
  • 8, 13, PB 4
  • 8, 13, 27

And naturally, these debuted November 25, 2017.

There was one other repeating Three-Number Combination, and that was 8, 19, and 27. This Combination debuted in the January 13, 2016 drawing.

All the lotteries have been brought back down to Earth right before Halloween. The only freaky things to worry about, if they could ever be called that, are encores, Australia Plays, and playbacks. Could either of these make an appearance, or will Halloween be a quiet evening?

The Beast’s Ghost

Mega Millions made history with its $1.6 billion grand prize. In our last Mega Millions post, this beast of a prize was taken down by a lone player from South Carolina. Yet, the ghost still lingered October 26th.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 80th appearance with winning numbers 1, 28, 61, 62, 63, and MB 5.

A haunting experience. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 405 drawings so far, this Pattern has played 19.8% of the time.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order has now played 22 times. With that said, this General Order has played in 27.5% of the 80 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 5.43% of all 405 drawings.

You’re now probably asking, “When did these appear last?” Don’t worry. We’re getting there…

Now with three appearances, the 1 1 0 0 3 1 Specific Order has played in 13.6% of the 22 drawings where [1-1-3-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 3.75% of the 80 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 405 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.74% of the time.

Want to take a guess when this debuted?

Friday night was truly a bizarre end to a bizarre week. Going into “Halloween Eve”, it looks to be much quieter. It will be a while yet before Mega Millions produces another monster that rampages through the countryside and lays waste to cities. Still, one must wonder if a triple encore/playback will show up Tuesday night.

The Strengthening Spell

One down. One to go.

Powerball’s spell tightened its hold on the land October 24th. The prize rose to $750 million! Lotto Texas received a boost as well, climbing to $14.5 million. Although it may be the “runt” of the lotteries, it more than held its own.

Lotto Texas

Given that there have been 1597 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time.

Now with 58 appearances, the 1 1 4 Specific Order has played in 33.7% of the 172 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 1597 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.63% of the time.

Both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 1 1 4 Specific Order played together in the August 22, 2018 drawing. Seeing a playback in action more than makes up for a “tiny” prize!

Four-Number Combination(s)

Lotto Texas was also able to stand toe-to-toe with Powerball thanks to repeating Four-Number Combination 15, 37, 43, and 50.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball’s method of attack was the {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore. Fresh from this past Saturday, it proved useful enough for the spell to be cast once more. This time, the winning numbers were 3, 21, 45, 53, 56, and PB 22.

This Pattern has now played 65 times and given that there have been 319 Powerball drawings, it has played in 20.4% of them.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order took a cue from the {3-1-1-1} Pattern and made an encore appearance as well! With 31 appearances, this General Order has played in 47.7% of the 65 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 319 drawings into consideration, this General Order played 9.72% of the time.

Now with three appearances, the 1 1 0 3 0 1 Specific Order has played in 9.68% of the 31 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-3-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4.62% of the 65 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 319 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.94% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 1 1 0 3 0 1 Specific Order played on May 20, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

A helping of repeating Three-Number Combination never hurt, right? The Combination was 45, 53, 56, and it debuted in the March 24, 2018 drawing.

The weekend is close at hand, and Halloween is not that far behind. Will Powerball amass more power Saturday night, or will the spell be broken?

The Mighty Has Fallen

“The bigger they come, the harder they fall” as they say. October 23rd was the biggest night in Mega Millions history to date. The $1.6 billion grand prize had finally been won! No, it wasn’t bacteria or beauty that killed the beast.

‘Twas a player in South Carolina, and this was how the deed was done.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 5, 28, 62, 65, 70, and MB 5, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern played for the 79th time.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 21st appearance and has played in 26.6% of the 79 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 5.20% of all 404 drawings. This General Order also played alongside the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned October 2nd drawing.

Could it be that a playback was what helped take down the Mega Millions monster? Let’s take a closer look.

Now with two appearances, the 1 1 0 0 3 1 Specific Order has played in 9.52% of the 21 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-3-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.53% of the 79 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 404 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.495% of the time. The 1 1 0 0 3 1 Specific Order was seen  in the December 19, 2014 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 1 1 0 2 1 1 Specific Order seen that night. The winning numbers were 14, 18, 58, 59, 68 and MB 4.

Three Number Combination(s)

To make the vanquishing even sweeter, there was a lone repeating Three-Number Combination!

With one week left until Halloween, things are going to be much quieter for Mega Millions for the time being. There is still one beast left: “sister” Powerball. Will Powerball be taken down or will it take a different path?

“Jackpotian” Rhapsody

Alright, alright, “Jackpotian” isn’t really a word, but those jackpots. There was no letting up October 20th!

The jackpots continue to cast their spell on us. With Mega Millions in the “Billion-Dollar Club” ($1.6 billion and counting), Powerball may not be far behind. The grand prize over there is now $620 million. Now, in the off-chance that someone wins both, he or she will be $2.2 billion dollars (before taxes) richer! Unbelievable, isn’t it?

Lotto Texas may be the “runt” with a $13.5 million jackpot, but that isn’t small change, either. Couple that with a Pattern streak, this plucky little lottery held its own.

Lotto Texas

Will we continue to be serenaded by the high jackpots, or will someone break the spell?

Mega Millions in “Unflinching”

The beast still stands. Sure, a couple of blows were able to land, with a $1 million winner in Houston and a $2 million winner not too far away in the tiny town of Cove (Wiki article for Cove here), but the beast triumphed in the end. With no grand prize winner after the October 19th drawing, the jackpot is now a staggering $1.6 billion! The growth spurt was thanks to a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern continues to make things more interesting. It wasn’t enough for it to show up in this past Tuesday’s drawing, it had to trot onto the stage Friday night, too! With winning numbers 15, 23, 53, 65, 70, and MB 7, this Pattern has played 114 times.

An encore in more ways than one. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

We last saw the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order on December 9, 2016.

This Combination made its debut in the May 5, 2017 drawing.

It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise if the prize shoots up to $2 billion before Wednesday, if not get close. Will that be the night the beast falls, or will it stick with us through Halloween?

Whatever the case, the beast will not go down easily.

Under a Jackpot Spell

A madness has gripped the country. There is at least one billion dollars’ worth of jackpots to be won! Mega Millions leads the pack, but Powerball is determined to catch up. The jackpot over there climbed to $430 million!

Lotto Texas has a way to go before it reaches those crazy-rich heights. Still, $12.75 million isn’t small change, either!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

What Lotto Texas “lacks” in jackpot, it makes up with moxie, and by moxie, we mean “Pattern streak”. The {3-2-1} Pattern went for the three-peat with winning numbers 18, 19, 23, 31, 46, and 47, bringing the number of appearances to 836.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

There was no way Powerball’s jackpot was going to climb without some sort of wild and crazy event! The rarely-seen {4-1-1} Pattern made its seventh appearance with winning numbers 3, 57, 64, 68, 69, and PB 15.

Big in its own right. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Of the 317 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 2.21% of the time and was last seen September 22, 2018.

The [1-4-1] General Order made its fourth appearance and has now played in 57.1% of the seven drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 1.26% of all 317 Powerball drawings. Fun fact: the [1-4-1] General Order played alongside the {4-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned September 22nd drawing.

Now you’re probably thinking a playback happened, yes?

Well, no, but, there was something even better: the world debut of the 1 0 0 0 4 1 Specific Order! This Specific Order has now played in 25% of the four drawings where the General Order was [1-4-1] and in 14.3% of the seven drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 317 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played in 0.32% of them.

Who needs a Pattern three-peat when you’re knocking on the door of a billion-dollar jackpot!?

There’s a good chance that the jackpot will rise yet again before Friday night. It’s very likely that it will exceed $1 billion, if not be close to it. All that’s known is that eventually, beasts fall. Will the weekend start with a slaying?

Going Big(ger) (or Lotto Texas & Powerball in “Jackpot Happy”)

October is an active month, indeed. Football season is in full swing, post-season baseball games are taking place (Will the ‘stros make it to the World Series again?), not to mention Halloween being right around the corner. If you also read the Mega Millions blog posts, then you know about the monster lurking about there. Now, I don’t mean to alarm you, but another monster was spotted October 13, 2018. The grand prize for Powerball shot up to $345 million! Lotto Texas may be the “runt” with its $11.75 million jackpot, but it had the most impactful attacks of the evening.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern was loved so much after showing up October 10th that it was invited back. This encore, and the 835th appearance of the Pattern, was thanks to winning numbers 14, 19, 30, 42, 47, and 51.

A Pattern encore is just one attack. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1594 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.4% of the time.

Now with 149 appearances, the 1 2 3 Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 835 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.35% of all 1594 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, this Specific Order played on September 15, 2018.

Similar Spread

Lotto Texas went straight for the jugular with a similar spread. The spread for Saturday night was 05:11:12:05:04, which was similar to what was seen on October 4, 2006. That night, the winning numbers were 1, 13, 18, 22, 27, and 38, with a spread of 12:05:04:05:11. Notice that although the differences between numbers were the same, the orders were different.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Of course, what accents the impact of a Pattern encore more than a repeating Four-Number Combination? The Combination of the evening was 14, 30, 47, and 51, which made its debut in the February 20, 2013 drawing.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball took a note from the Lotto Texas playbook and played its most commonly seen Pattern again. Except here, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made a three-peat. With winning numbers 11, 14, 32, 43, 65, and PB 15, this Pattern made its 113th appearance.

Of the 316 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 35.8% of them.

The [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made its 30th appearance and has now played in 26.5% of the 113 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.49% of all 316 drawings and was last seen on August 4, 2018.

Now with five appearances, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 16.667% of the 30 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also appeared in 4.42% of the 113 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 316 drawings into consideration, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 1.58% of the time. This Specific Order was last seen in the earlier-mentioned August 4, 2018 drawing alongside the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations. Powerball felt that the Pattern encore, and the crazy-large jackpot, were enough damage.

As the daytime hours wane, and the days (hopefully) continue to get cooler, the grand prizes continue to reach monumental heights. Will either the {2-1-1-1-1} or {3-2-1} Patterns make another repeat appearance Wednesday night and could one of those repeats allow at least one person to obtain a monstrous jackpot?
