(Order) in the Mega Millions Court

Admittedly cheesy title aside, there was a stirring in Mega Millions this past Tuesday. The jackpot soared once more, resting, for now, at $285 million. Pattern-wise, a {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat wasn’t meant to be. In its place was a different Pattern that was accompanied by a Specific Order debut.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern was the one responsible for blocking the three-peat and has now played 97 times. The winning numbers for December 3rd, 2019 were 23, 43, 60, 63, 69, and MB 19.

Given that there have been 520 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 18.7% of the time and was last seen November 19th, 2019.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order, now with 28 appearances, has played in 28.9% of the 97 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 520 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 5.38% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [1-1-3-1] General Order played April 2nd, 2019.

The 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order also made its first appearance! With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 3.57% of the 28 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-3-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 1.03% of the 97 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.19% of all 520 drawings.

What a way to start the month! Hard to believe, but the year (and decade, depending on who you ask) is almost over. Will these last few weeks see a monstrous Mega Millions jackpot take control?

208 Million Little Things

If you’re reading this from the U.S., then you know Thanksgiving is almost here! Whether you’re having a small dinner or a gigantic feast, there’s always something about holiday meals where you must remember so many little things.

There was nothing little about Mega Millions this past Tuesday! No big play was needed to send the jackpot over the $200 million line. Who wouldn’t want $208 million just before the holiday season really kicks off?

General Lottery Analysis

The winning numbers for November 19th, 2019 were 22, 43, 44, 47, 66, and MB 22. This marked the 96th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern.

Given that there have been 516 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 18.6% of them and was last seen November 8th, 2019.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order, now with 32 appearances, has played in 33.3% of the 96 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 516 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Pattern has played 6.20% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [1-3-1-1] General Order played May 21st, 2019.

Now with four appearances, the 0 1 0 3 1 1 Specific Order has played in 12.5% of the 32 drawings where the General Order was [1-3-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4.167% of the 96 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.78% of all 516 drawings. Tuesday night’s 0 1 0 3 1 1 Specific Order was reconfigured from the 0 1 0 4 0 1 Specific Order seen in the July 15th, 2016 drawing.

Will the Mega Millions jackpot stay above the $200 million line, or will it be brought back down Friday night?

Ce N’est Pas Une Playback (This is Not a Playback)

Friday nights were meant for football.  They were also meant for parties, relaxing with a good drink, and big plays for Mega Millions. Except, there weren’t any big plays November 8th, 2019. By that, we mean no Pattern encore, no Australia Play, not even a playback. Sure, Mega Millions came close, but a playback wasn’t mean to be. If by “major play”, you thought we meant, “No one won and the prize got larger”, then you were right on the money (no pun intended)! The jackpot increased to $163 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 3, 4, 10, 39, 58, and MB 14, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 95th appearance.

This Specific Order has also played in 2.11% of the 95 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.39% of all 513 drawings. Another big development was the repeat appearances of two Three-Number Combinations:

Whether a playback is in Mega Millions’ immediate future is something that can’t be foretold. What we should direct our attention to is the jackpot. It’s not far from crazy-large territory. We’ll have to see if it crosses that $200 million threshold, and if it does, how much farther it will go…

Mega Millions’ (Almost) Playback Special

We’re halfway through October and you know what means: An almost playback!

Huh? How do you have an almost playback? By having the Pattern and General Order share a date when they last appeared together, of course! At least, that’s what happened in the October 15th, 2019 Mega Millions drawing. The fallout was a jackpot jump to $71 million.

Prior to Tuesday night, both the {3-1-1-1} Pattern and the [3-1-1-1] General Order played October 8th, 2019.

A “full playback” didn’t come about for a good reason. Tuesday night saw the debut of the 3 0 1 0 1 1 Specific Order! With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 2.86% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [3-1-1-1]. Sixty Million Degrees

“It’s sixty million degrees outside!”

This, or something like this, is the rallying whine of summer, soon to be a distant memory (for some of us). Even though the temperatures are set to drop, Mega Millions is operating on a different level. Nothing about a jackpot increase to $60 million says this lottery is ready to cool down!

Things You Can Do with a Mega Millions

Although school is back in session and many outdoor pools are closed, there are still a few weeks of summer left, technically speaking. It’ll be a while yet before those crisp nights come rolling in and the autumn fashion comes out. Nothing wrong with enjoying a pumpkin spice latte in shorts, right?

Mega Millions reflected the weather; there was no cool down in the September 6th, 2019 drawing. Now, it didn’t see another repeating Four-Number Combination, but there were repeating Three-Number Combinations. Five of them. The aftermath, of course, was a jackpot that climbed to $154 million.

The World According to Lotto Texas (and Powerball)

Lotto Texas dominated the lottery landscape August 28th, 2019. The winless streak continued as the prize climbed to $18.25 million. What made this lottery stand out Wednesday night was that it had

  • An encore
  • A playback
  • A similar spread
  • A repeating Five-Number Combination
  • Seven repeating Four-Number Combinations

Seriously, it was like Lotto Texas had this checklist of “Awesome Ways to End the Month” and had a field day!

Powerball had its own brand of insanity. A Specific Order debut and a couple of  repeating Three-Number Combinations may seem like small potatoes, but that was enough to propel the grand prize to $70 million.

Lotto Texas and Powerball will have the joint honor of playing the last day of August. Will the lead-up to September be just as wild as Wednesday, or will the month end on a quieter note?

The Lottery Flip-Flop

We have a sleeper on our hands.

Lotto Texas, the “classiest” of the lotteries covered on Lottery Binge, has tended to its jackpot and watched it grow! After handing the players yet another thrashing, the prize climbed to $16.5 million. This has been a thing for Lotto Texas since before the summer season started. Slow and steady, indeed!

There was another side to the tale of August 17th, 2019. Powerball, certainly no stranger to crazy-large jackpots, appears to have put them to the side. Now, they’ve been growing to healthy size, but they’ve been claimed before reaching the $200 million mark.  Long Island produced the sole winner of the $149 million up for grabs. Naturally, the prize reset itself to $40 million.

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Saturday night.

Powerball will continue its break from crazy-large jackpots, so any shenanigans there are out of the question. But we still have Lotto Texas to contend with. How high will its jackpot get? Will it climb once again come Wednesday or will it be claimed?

Playback Central

This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, the very one that sent mankind to the Moon. Space exploration, whether by man or by probe, is a testament to human ingenuity and fuel for the unbounded nature of our imagination. It’s that “Can do” attitude that will keep us chugging along.

But now, we come back down to Earth. Mega Millions, ever fond of crazy-large jackpots and thwarting players everywhere, shot for the stars July 19th. No, it didn’t land on a strange new world, but it picked up a playback. Along the way, the jackpot got boosted up to $168 million.

Encore or no, we’ll have to see if the jackpot rises once again in Tuesday’s drawing or if it falls through the stratosphere.
