The Jackpot Wave

Two things have risen this month: temperatures and lottery jackpots! If the results for May 18th, 2019 are anything to go by, rising jackpots will continue to be in the forecast for the foreseeable future. They’ll come back down, eventually, but for now, a watch for Lotto Texas and Powerball is needed.

Powerball’s prize dwarfed that of Lotto Texas, but that’s to be expected. Even with its $288 million up for grabs Wednesday, it didn’t compare to Lotto Texas in the rumblings department. Save for a winner earlier this month, Lotto Texas has rebounded steadily and nicely found itself with a $6 million jackpot. Along the way, it rekindled its love for encores and playbacks.

Of the 1656 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.6% of the time.

Now with 144 appearances, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played in 16.5% of the 871 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1656 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 8.70% of the time.

Both the {3-2-1} Pattern and the 2 3 1 Specific Order were last seen in the May 15th, 2019 drawing. Not only was this a playback, but a double encore!

Four-Number Combination(s)

Nestled inside this double encore-slash-playback was a repeating Four-Number Combination that has played twice before: 10, 28, 31, and 44!

This Specific Order has also played in 4.76% of the 105 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.32% of all 378 drawings. We last saw the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order on December 31st, 2016.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination, 2, 66, and 67, debuted November 28th, 2015.

Whether the {3-2-1} Pattern makes a three-peat appearance in Lotto Texas is something we’ll need to look for. Powerball, meanwhile, will have to make the difficult choice of knocking on $300 million or relinquishing its prize.

Two Cheers for Common Patterns!

The word “common” isn’t normally a word to describe a lottery. There’s nothing common about flirting with a billion dollars or a record-breaking Pattern streak, that’s for sure! Lottery analysts live for those sorts of things, you know. What is common, however, is a Pattern, or in this case, two Patterns.

We’ve reached the halfway point of the month, and to celebrate (if you can call it that), Lotto Texas and Powerball played their most common Patterns May 15th. Another, ahem, commonality, was keeping people away from the grand prizes. After Wednesday night, the jackpots rose to $5.75 million and $270 million, respectively.

Things look to heat up for at least one of these lotteries Saturday night. Both Patterns are notorious for streaks. After all, that’s part of why they are the most commonly seen! Pattern encores or no, someone is either going to walk away with the prize money or the prizes are going to continue to climb.

Uncommon Gifts for Mother’s Day

Breakfast (or brunch) in bed too cliché?

Couldn’t get the flowers she wanted?

Wanted to do something grand for Mother’s Day, but ran out of time?

Well, how about the lottery and if you’re in Texas, how about two of them?

May 11th, 2019 had the honor of being the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Lotto Texas and Powerball honored moms everywhere by playing some of their most uncommonly seen Patterns. That, and the grand prizes in both lotteries went unclaimed. The prize for Lotto Texas climbed to $5.5 million and Powerball ascended to a monstrous $250 million. Yet, despite the monster growing in Powerball, Lotto Texas was the wilder of the two.

One way in which Lotto Texas was the wilder lottery was that it saw a playback! Both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 1 4 1 Specific Order were last seen in the April 20th, 2019 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Another element to Lotto Texas’s wild side was a repeating Four-Number Combination that played for the third time! Lone repeater 24, 32, 33, and 48 made its debut October 13th, 2012.

Regardless of how Saturday night turned out, Mother’s Day isn’t about fancy gifts for your mom. Sometimes, making something simple and spending time with her is the best gift of all. A Happy Mother’s Day to all our readers, wherever your mothers may be.

Looking to the week ahead, we’re nearing the home stretch for the school year in many places. Powerball certainly has a monster on its hands, and what a wild way to start summer if the beast is finally caught at the end of the month! Lotto Texas, on the other hand, will continue its mellowness, with a dash of wild here and there.

Yet Another Australia Play

Hey, Hey, Hey! A Double Play for May

Lotto Texas and Powerball had the joint honor of kicking off the month. Great minds thought alike May 1st as both, yes both, lotteries saw Pattern encores! They also shared a love of thwarting all efforts to win the jackpot. With no grand prize winners in either Lotto Texas or Powerball, their respective pots are now $6.25 million and $199 million.

Not necessarily. With its eighth appearance, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 20.5% of the 39 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. The Patterns That Rule Them All

Lotto Texas and Powerball bid adieu to the month this past Saturday. One word that describes the night of April 27th is “Explosive”! The weekend was ablaze with both lotteries playing their most commonly-seen Patterns, one of which made an encore. Additionally, the lotteries continued to enjoy the perks of repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations.

With no one to claim the grand prizes, Lotto Texas and Powerball will be heading into May with $6 million and $181 million dollars up for grabs, respectively.

With April in the rear-view mirror, May looks to be a month in “crazy- large jackpot” territory. Considering the Patterns that we saw this past Saturday, it’s possible that one or both will start the month with an encore. Of course, anything is possible in the lottery world, and we’ll need to watch Wednesday closely.

Number Pastures

April 24th, 2019 marked the end of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak in Powerball. It also marked the end of a short break from the madness brought about by said streak and an exact spread in Lotto Texas. Although not nearly as wild as what happened last week, Wednesday night was far from a snoozer. For starters, the night had its fill of repeating Combinations of both the Three-Number and Four-Number kind.

If you love crazy-high jackpots (we know you do!), Powerball is on its way to a $166 million grand prize Saturday night. Lotto Texas kept its cool, easing upwards to $5.75 million.

The {3-2-1} Pattern is fond of encores, and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern had dipped its toes in the encore pool from time to time. Encores or no, Lotto Texas and Powerball look to finish the month on a strong note. Will someone walk away with a grand prize Saturday night, or will May start to look like “crazy-large jackpot” territory?

Exactly What It Spreads

Lottery Binge has been gracing the Internet for almost three years. We’ve covered playbacks, Pattern streaks, monster-sized jackpots, similar spreads, and so much more. You can rarely go wrong expecting at least one of the lotteries to see a rise in their jackpots. For instance, Lotto Texas and Powerball will be going into Saturday night with $5.25 million and $136 million, respectively. There just isn’t anything new to cover. Just variations of what we’ve seen before, right?

Wrong!

April 17th, 2019 was a night like no other. For the first time ever, we’re covering a little something called

THE EXACT SPREAD!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {4-2} Pattern made its 178th appearance with winning numbers 7, 8, 15, 17, 29, and 30.

There’s always more to the numbers. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1647 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time, and was last seen March 13th, 2019.

Now with 38 appearances, the 4 2 0 Specific Order has played in 21.3% of the 178 drawings where {4-2} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1647 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.31% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 4 2 0 Specific Order played March 9th, 2019.

Exact Spread

It was Lotto Texas. Yes, the (often) reserved Lotto Texas that saw the exact spread.

Now, you’ve all heard of the similar spread. For those who haven’t, or need a refresher, a similar spread is what happens when the difference between the numbers in two drawings are the same, but orders of said numbers are different. With an exact spread, both the differences between the numbers in two drawings and the orders of said numbers are the same!

Wednesday night’s numbers had a spread of 01:07:02:12:01.

On April 21st, 2012, the winning numbers were 23, 24, 31, 33, 45, and 46. The spread that night was 01:07:02:12:01. To think that it was almost seven years ago!

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were also two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 7, 17, 29, 30 (Debuted November 12th, 2011)
  • 7, 15, 17, 29 (Debuted April 16th, 2014)

Lotto Texas may never see its jackpot rise to the heights seen in Powerball, but it more than makes up for it with its own wild plays. Speaking of Powerball, a Pattern streak is under way.

A Pattern streak in motion. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given the 369 Powerball drawings so far, this Pattern has played 36.6% of the time.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order appeared to be in the early stages of streak! With its three-peat, this General Order has now played 37 times. Of the 135 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, this General Order has played 27.4% of the time and in roughly 10% of all 369 drawings.

Both the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order were last seen April 13th, 2019.

Now with seven appearances, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 37 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.19% of the 135 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 1.90% of all 369 drawings. We last saw the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order February 2nd, 2019.

Imagine if Powerball had seen a playback! It seems the lottery gods thought that would’ve been too much for mere mortals.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, who needs a playback when there’s at least one repeating Three-Number Combination, right? The lone Combination, 15, 66, and PB 15, made its debut August 26th, 2017.

Shoring up the rear. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com

A holiday weekend is coming up, so it’s possible that Powerball’s Pattern streak may hold. Of course, it could also slip away. Still, there are decent-sized jackpots up for grabs Saturday night.

(C’mon. You wouldn’t turn your nose up at $5.25 million!)

Will Saturday night be hopping mad, or will everything stew in silence?

The Playback Zone

Of the many lottery-related phenomena covered in Lottery Binge, the playback is quite the character. It shows up when the Pattern, General Order (not applicable to Lotto Texas), and Specific Order all played together on a previous date. The obvious one is the Australia Play, where the Pattern, General Order (again, not applicable to Lotto Texas), and Specific Order were the same, like the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order in Lotto Texas. What about the playbacks that aren’t so obvious?

All this week, there have been several posts on the playback. At least one was seen in Mega Millions recently and our last Lotto Texas post covered an Australia Play. The playback seen on April 13th brought one Lotto Texas winner $15.75 million. This knocked the prize down to $5 million going into Wednesday.

Powerball’s jackpot, meanwhile, rose quietly to $118 million.

Along for the ride were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

There don’t appear to be any “monstrous” jackpots going into next week. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in Powerball is just as fond of Pattern streaks as the one in “sister” Mega Millions, so it’s something to keep an eye for. Will that Pattern streak solidify Wednesday night, or will another Pattern take the reins?

The Night Where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Ruled Supreme

What can be said about our dear friend the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern? Sure, it’s the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions, but what else? Well, for one, it gets a kick out of keeping everyone on their heels. If it’s not a Pattern streak, then it’s something else.

April 12th was something else, alright. What transpired Friday night led to the grand prize rising to $157 million. The events were so awe-inducing that an introduction can’t do them justice! You’ll need to keep reading.

Four-Number Combination

This Combination debuted January 3rd, 2014. Keep in mind that Four-Number Combinations are very uncommon in Mega Millions.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Naturally, a repeating Four-Number Combination has four repeating Three-Number Combinations bundled inside.

  • 24, 25, 40
  • 24, 25, 70
  • 24, 40, 70
  • 25, 40, 70

All of them debuted in that same January 3rd, 2014 drawing. As a bonus, 24, 25 and 40 was last seen a few months later in the September 23rd, 2014 drawing.

These weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Given the 199 appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, what happened on Friday night wouldn’t have been out of place for a “200 Appearances Bash”. As it is, that ever-eager Pattern wanted to celebrate early, or so it seems. Will someone have an early Easter present in the form of a $157 million prize Tuesday night, or will it slip from the players’ grasp?
