Combination Parade

And so, with the February 26th, 2019 drawing, Mega Millions bid “Farewell” to February. What better way to end the month than a Pattern encore, right? Start off March with a Pattern streak, too.

Or perhaps a playback? We haven’t seen an Australia Play in a while, either.

Alright, I’ll level with ya. None of those things happened Tuesday night. Instead, Mega Millions had the bold idea of playing a repeating Four-Number (yes, Four-Number) Combination! A blog post introduction cannot do justice describing the fallout of such an event. If that wasn’t intense enough, the grand prize officially crossed over into quarter-billion-dollar territory, now standing tall at $267 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 12, 14, 24, 60, and MB 20, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 85th appearance.

Four-Number Combination

In a stroke of genius (madness?), Mega Millions threw out the repeating Four-Number Combination 10, 14, 24, and 60.

This loner made its debut in the June 17th, 2014 drawing!

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, when you have a repeating Four-Number Combination, there are four repeating Three-Number Combinations just waiting to burst out!

  • 14, 24, 60
  • 10, 24, 60
  • 10, 14, 60
  • 10, 14, 24

As to be expected, all of the above made their debut June 17th, 2014.

Would you believe that these weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations? In fact, there were two more:

  • 10, 12, 60 (Debuted July 24th, 2015)
  • 12, 14, 24 (Debuted November 17th, 2015)

No doubt about it, a repeating Four-Number Combination was a bold move for Mega Millions and it paid off spectacularly! This lottery has the honor of welcoming March, and it will certainly be roaring in. Thing is, Tuesday night’s drawing is a tough act to follow. Will Mega Millions outdo itself Friday?

Pattern Love and a Wild Jackpot

February is just about over, and the love affair with the {3-2-1} Pattern continued in Lotto Texas. Meanwhile, Powerball moved on to yet another Pattern. Far be it from a quiet night, February 23rd saw sparks fly with repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations. With the grand prizes evading capture once again, the respective jackpots climbed to $8 million and $322 million.

This Combination made its debut on June 20, 2018.

As we end the month, it looks like Powerball will continue its crazy-high jackpot path. Lotto Texas and the {3-2-1} Pattern are getting along, and this Pattern is notorious for Pattern streaks. We’ll have to see Wednesday whether a {3-2-1} Pattern six-peat comes to fruition and if Powerball continues to climb.

Fade to {2-2-1-1}

After four dates with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, Mega Millions called it quits February 22nd. Friday night’s drawing saw a get-together with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and there were some interesting developments with the repeating Three-Number Combinations. That prize money slipped out of the players’ hands once again; the grand prize is now $245 million, and “crazy-rich” territory isn’t that far off.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 18, 24, 31, 34, 55, and MB 4, the {2-2-1-1} made its 124th appearance.

Once all 439 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 1.37% of the time. We last saw the 0 2 2 1 0 1 Specific Order on November 1, 2016. This, in fact, was reconfigured from the 0 2 3 0 0 1 Specific Order seen that night and the winning numbers were 19, 24, 31, 39, 45, and MB 13.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern didn’t come to the date empty-handed; it brought along three repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Will Mega Millions try to establish a {2-2-1-1} Pattern streak in the week ahead?

A Streak and a Breakup

There appeared to be a shakeup in the Lottery World. After just two dates, Powerball called it quits with the {3-1-1-1} Pattern. Meanwhile, Lotto Texas and the {3-2-1} Pattern had another go. Things got even hotter with the debut of a new Specific Order and a repeating Three-Number Combination. Throw in rising grand prizes of $7.75 million and $304 million, February 20th was anything but a quiet night!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The relationship Lotto Texas has with the {3-2-1} Pattern is a special one. Not only is it the most commonly played Pattern, it went for the “four-peat”. With winning numbers 12, 30, 36, 38, 51, and 54, this Pattern has now played 861 times.

Fourth date. Source: lotterytrend.com

There have been 1631 drawings, and this Pattern has played in 52.8% of them.

It just so happened that the {3-2-1} Pattern wasn’t all that came back Wednesday. The 1 2 3 Specific Order made an encore, adding a little more spice to the night. Now with 154 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 17.9% of the 861 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.44% of all 1631 drawings.

Both the {3-2-1} Pattern and the 1 2 3 Specific Order were last seen February 16, 2019.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The {3-2-1} Pattern and 1 2 3 Specific Order just wanted Lotto Texas for themselves. This, in turn, led to the repeating Four-Number Combinations getting edged out.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball made a great connection with the {4-1-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 27, 49, 50, 51, 52, and PB 2. This Pattern has now played nine times.

The [1-4-1] General Order made its fifth appearance and has now played in roughly 55.6% of the nine drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 1.42% of all 353 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the [1-4-1] General Order played October 17, 2018.

The 0 1 0 4 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut! With that said, this Specific Order has played in 20% of the five drawings where the General Order was [1-4-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 11.1% of the nine drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.28% of all 353 drawings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The date ended with repeating Three-Number Combination 49, 50, and 52.

This lone repeater made its debut in the August 17, 2016 drawing.

Regardless of what happened last week, both lotteries finished strong. Lotto Texas may have a thing going with the {3-2-1} Pattern but Powerball has the whole “crazy-high” jackpot angle going into Saturday night. Will the love affair continue in Lotto Texas or is the (inevitable) breakup just around the corner?

Mega Millions Four by Four

So far this month, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appears to be the favorite.

The February 19, 2019 drawing did nothing to dissuade that notion. With its fourth consecutive appearance, this Pattern settled into a streak. With that streak, however, came no grand prize winners. The pot slowly, but steadily, rose to $224 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern four-peat was thanks to winning numbers 17, 24, 34, 56, 65, and MB 3. This Pattern has now played 193 times.

Of the 438 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 44.1% of them, and was last seen February 15, 2019.

The [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made its 52nd appearance and has now played in 26.9% of the 193 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 11.9% of all 438 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order played December 7, 2018.

This Specific Order has also played in 7.77% of the 193 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 438 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order played 3.42% of the time. We last saw the 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order October 30, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern couldn’t just show up four times in a row by itself. It brought along four repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Note that two of the repeating Three-Number Combinations debuted nearly two years apart. Well played, {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern.

Mega Millions will be heading into Friday night fresh from a four-peat with a side of large jackpot. Will the momentum for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern continue?

Like (Lottery) Lovers Do

Right before Valentine’s Day, Lotto Texas and Powerball went on a double-date with the {3-2-1} Pattern and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, respectively. The date was such a success that the Patterns wanted to go on another. That’s right; both lotteries saw a Pattern encore February 16th! To make the double-date even more memorable, interesting developments took shape in the repeating Four and Three-Number Combinations. That, and with prizes that rose to $7.5 million and $282 million, Saturday night was one to remember.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The relationship Lotto Texas has with the {3-2-1} Pattern is a bit more complicated. Yes, there was a Pattern encore, but truthfully, it was more than that. Two dates in one week. There is most certainly something to these relationships! Will Lotto Texas’s love affair with the {3-2-1} Pattern continue and will Powerball stick with the {3-1-1-1} Pattern Wednesday night?

Triple the Fun with {2-1-1-1-1}

What a difference a couple of days makes! The day before Valentine’s Day was serene, with Lotto Texas and Powerball wanting some alone time with their beaus. February 15th wasn’t like that for Mega Millions. Not only was there a three-peat for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, one of the Orders made an encore and there were some interesting developments with the repeating Three-Number Combinations as well! With no grand prize winner, the jackpot continued its slow climb into crazy-rich territory; it’s now $206 million.

El Amor de Las Loterías (Love of the Lotteries)

Happy Valentine’s Day! Before getting to tonight’s analysis, I would like to thank once more my guest blogger Romulun Harris for filling in on such short notice.

After a busy first half of the month, what with Pattern streaks and love affairs with repeating Combinations, February 13, 2019 was much quieter. Lotto Texas found its breakup with the {3-2-1} Pattern to be brief. Powerball decided to go with another Pattern, dashing the hopes of a second date with the {4-1-1} Pattern. With the prizes unclaimed, the lotteries’ respective prizes rose to $7.25 million and $260 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas snuggled with the {3-2-1} Pattern as it made an encore with winning numbers 9, 14, 17, 30, 37, and 42. This Pattern has now played 859 times.

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations; there just wasn’t enough love to go around.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Wanting to get (re)acquainted with the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, Powerball held off on the repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Was Wednesday night a harbinger for the second half of the month, or was it just a temporary rest? We’ll have to wait until Saturday to see if Lotto Texas and the {3-2-1} Pattern continue their relationship and Powerball’s affection with the {3-1-1-1} Pattern is more than a one lottery stand.

The February 9th Playback Spectacle

Momentum was ramped up Saturday night! For starters, Lotto Texas went ahead full throttle. This normally unassuming lottery appears to have developed a newfound spunk. Its affliction with Playback Fever was only tempered by its respectable $7 million grand prize.

Powerball, often seen as the grander of the two, showed a few symptoms of the Fever as well. However, a surprise Specific Order kept it from completely taking over. The prize continued climbing towards stratospheric heights, now standing at $242 million.
