Adieu, 2017

First, a Happy New Year to all our readers! After another year of Pattern streaks, similar spreads, and Australia Plays, the year 2017 officially ended on December 30th. In Lottery World, anyway. Not content with taking it easy New Year’s weekend, Lotto Texas and Powerball wanted to give a more festive send-off Saturday night.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} reigned supreme. With winning numbers 9, 14, 16, 27, 45, and 51, this Pattern played for the 786th time.

Now that there have been 1512 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in roughly 52% of them. Prior to Saturday night, the {3-2-1} Pattern was last seen in the December 20, 2017 drawing.

With its 146th appearance, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.6% of the 786 drawings where the {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 1512 drawings, this Specific Order has played 9.66% of the time. The 3 1 2 Specific Order previously played in the December 2, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

A repeating Four-Number Combination was part of Lotto Texas’s send-off to 2017:

Not a shabby send-off. What tricks were up Powerball’s sleeves?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball also saw its most commonly played Pattern, and it one-upped the one in Lotto Texas. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, right off the heels of Wednesday’s drawing, decided to have another go. The 86th appearance was highlighted by winning numbers 28, 36, 41, 51, 58, and PB 24.

Of the 234 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 36.8% of the time.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, making its 25th appearance, has now played in 29.1% of the 86 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.7% of all 234 drawings. The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order previously played in the December 16, 2017 drawing.

Now with six appearances, the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 24% of the 25 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order was also seen in 6.98% of the 86 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 234 drawings into account, this Specific Order has been seen 2.56% of the time. The 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the December 9, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball added an extra kick with three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball start the new year with Pattern encores, or something totally unexpected?

Coming Full Circle

What a year! With all the craziness in both the “real world” and Mega Millions, we made it to the end. Mega Millions said goodbye to 2017 with a Pattern encore. Of course, with this being Mega Millions and all, the Pattern wasn’t the only big event of the evening.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 4, 10, 18, 28, 62, and MB 7, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 90th appearance in the December 29th drawing.

An encore to end the year. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 319 Mega Millions drawings to date, this Pattern has played 28.2% of the time. Interestingly, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was the very Pattern that kicked off 2017, although that was under the old 75-15 system. Leave it to Mega Millions to finish the year the way it started!

With its 33rd appearance, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 36.7% of the 90 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 10.3% of all 319 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this General Order was seen in the December 1, 2017 drawing.

The 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 12.1% of the 33 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 4.44% of the 90 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 319 drawings into account, the 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played 1.25% of the time. This Specific Order was last seen over two years ago. More specifically, in the November 17, 2015 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Mega Millions ended the year with three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 4, 10, MB 7 (Debuted December 23, 2014)
  • 28, 62, MB 7 (Debuted December 18, 2015)
  • 18, 28, MB 7 (Debuted September 12, 2014)

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern be the one to start 2018, or will another Pattern have the honor?

The One Where a Playback Happened

This past year has been a host of the unexpected at Lottery Trend headquarters:

And yet, there’s one phenomenon that outshines them all: the playback. Playbacks occur when the Pattern, General Order (Powerball and Mega Millions only), and Specific Order played together on a previous date. Unlike the Pattern associated with an Australia Play, a “Playback Pattern” can have more than one associated General Order (if applicable) and Specific Order.

Wednesday night saw at least one playback.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The uncommonly seen {3-3} Pattern made its 128th appearance in the December 27th drawing, with winning numbers 2, 4, 15, 38, 48, and 53.

{3-3} decides to show up when the year’s just about over. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that there have been 1511 Lotto Texas drawings so far, this Pattern has played in 8.47% of them. This Pattern was last seen in the October 28, 2017 drawing.

The 3 0 3 Specific Order made its 49th appearance. This has now played in 38.3% of the 128 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 1511 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 3.24% of the time. The 3 0 3 Specific Order was seen alongside the {3-3} Pattern in the October 28th drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In addition to an uncommon Pattern, Wednesday night’s drawing saw the following repeating Four-Number Combination:

  • 4, 15, 38, 48
Hiding under the “singles”. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Unlike what we saw last time, this Combination made its debut in this decade. More specifically, the August 13, 2011 drawing.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball saw its most commonly seen Pattern Wednesday evening. With winning numbers 3, 9, 16, 56, 60, and PB 3, the {2-1-1-1-1} pattern has now played 85 times.

This Pattern has played in 36.5% of the 233 Powerball drawings thus far. Prior to Wednesday night, we saw this Pattern in the December 16, 2017 drawing.

Now with 20 appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 23.5% of the 85 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.58% of all 233 drawings. The [2-1-1-1-1] General Order was last seen in the November 11, 2017 drawing.

The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has now played five times. Of the 20 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made an appearance, this Specific Order has played 25% of the time. Out of the 85 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played in 5.88% of them. Finally, when taking all 233 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 2.15% of the time. We last saw the 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order in the July 5, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 3, 16, 56.

This Combination made its debut in the October 26, 2016 drawing.

Saturday is the last lottery day of 2017. How will Lotto Texas and Powerball end the year?

Christmas Clean-Up

Hope everyone out there had a great Christmas! Now that we’ve had our fill of Christmas ham and dressing, it’s time to get back to work. Lottery work, that is. Even with one week left in 2017, lotteries don’t take breaks!

Some people see December 26th as “The Day After Christmas.” Others see it more like:

  • Boxing Day (More of a UK/Commonwealth thing, not so much in the U.S.)
  • The First Day of Kwanzaa
  • The penultimate drawing of 2017

That last point is what today’s post is all about. Was there a {3-1-1-1} three-peat Tuesday night?

General Lottery Analysis

Although there was no Pattern three-peat, we did see the second-most commonly played Mega Millions Pattern. With winning numbers 10, 12, 20, 38, 41, and MB 25, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 89th appearance.

A visit from the “#2” Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in roughly 28% of the 318 drawings. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern was the one that kicked off December, showing up on the very first day.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 27th appearance, and has now played in 30.3% of the 89 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 318 drawings, this General Order has played 8.49% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [2-1-2-1] General Order played in the October 27, 2017 drawing.

With its second-ever appearance, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played in 7.41% of the 27 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 2.25% of the 89 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.63% of all 218 drawings.  The 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order is a special one. It made its debut over three years ago in the July 15, 2014 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Even more amazing is the repeating Three-Number Combination 10, 20, 38.

At the bottom of the table, but tops in Combination appearances. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Combination made its debut in the December 26, 2017 drawing, exactly three years prior!

Friday’s drawing will be the last Mega Millions drawing of 2017. Will the 2017 run end with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore?

The Great Lottery Gifting

First, we’d like to wish our readers a Merry Christmas! December 23rd was a busy night. Whether it was wrapping up last-minute shopping, or partaking in Festivus activities in the “real world”, Lotto Texas and Powerball had something for everyone. Who could say “No” to Pattern encores, rare Patterns, and repeating Combinations, of both the Four-Number and Three-Number kind?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {5-1} Pattern, one of the rarest Lotto Texas Patterns, made its 55th appearance, with winning numbers 8, 22, 23, 29, 34, and 36.

Out of six numbers came a rare Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Out of the 1510 drawings, this Pattern has played in 3.64% of them, and was last seen in the November 18, 2017 drawing.

Now with 15 appearances, the 1 5 0 Specific Order has played in 27.3% of the 55 drawings where the {5-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 0.99% of all 1510 drawings. Prior to Saturday, the 1 5 0 Specific Order was last seen in the August 5, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

What makes looking at the repeating Four-Number Combinations fun is finding the ones that made their debuts in the last decade. Here were two of them:

  • 22, 29, 34, 36 (Debuted August 15, 2001)
  • 8, 22, 23, 29 (Debuted March 12, 2008)
Two repeating Four-Number Combinations. One shared decade. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Like the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in “sister” lottery Mega Millions, Powerball’s {3-1-1-1} Pattern got a bit of that “Encore Fever”. This time, the winning numbers were 1, 3, 13, 15, 44, and PB 25, bringing the number of appearances to 45.

Pattern encores are a thing this week. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 232 Powerball drawings to date, this Pattern has played 19.4% of the time.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its 11th appearance Saturday night. With that said, it has now played in 24.4% of the 45 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 232 drawings into account, this General Order has played 4.74% of the time. We last saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order in the October 11, 2017 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 18.2% of the eleven drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in 4.44% of the 45 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.86% of all 232 drawings. The 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the January 11, 2017 drawing.

Here’s something that will add some more spice to your wassail: Pay close attention to the numbers that played that evening. The winning numbers in that drawing were very close to the winning numbers that played Saturday. They were 1, 3, 13, 16, 43, and PB 24. It’s part of the very reason why Lottery Trend exists!

Three-Number Combination(s)

To add to the bounty of gifts, there was a Three-Number Combination that played three times! That Combination was 1, 3, 13. It made its debut in the same January 11th drawing we just talked about, and it was last seen in the October 11, 2017 drawing.

Now we come to the real home stretch. Next week is the last week of 2017. Can Lotto Texas and Powerball top Saturday night’s results?

Mega Millions Takes a Holiday

A front has blown through Houston, and for those who like cold weather (not colds!) at Christmas time, it feels a bit more like Christmas is “supposed” to feel. Not cold enough to snow, but certainly sweater weather. Mega Millions took a cue from Mother Nature and cooled down, too. Just like last year. But, unlike what we saw the week before Christmas 2016, there was a Pattern encore in the December 22, 2017 drawing.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern wasn’t content on just popping up in this past Tuesday’s drawing. It showed up again Friday night. With winning numbers 1, 20, 30, 33, 42, and MB 16, the number of appearances of this Pattern is now 63.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern comes back for more. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

With 317 Mega Millions drawings to date, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played 19.9% of the time.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order played for the 16th time. This General Order has now played in 25.4% of the 63 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 317 drawings into account, this General Order has played 5.05% of the time. Prior to Friday night, the [1-1-3-1] General Order was seen in the November 7, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 1 1 3 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 16 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General order has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 6.35% of the 63 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 317 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.26% of the time. We last saw the 1 1 3 0 0 1 Specific Order in the December 27, 2016 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 1 2 2 0 0 1 Specific Order seen that night, and appeared under the old 75-15 Mega Millions system.

Three Number Combination(s)

As is the nature of a cooldown, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Hard to believe, but next week will be the last full week of 2017. Will Mega Millions end the year with a bang?

Pre-Christmas Thaw

It’s winter in Lottery Trend Country, although it doesn’t really feel like it in our neck of the woods. To think that it snowed two weeks ago! Thus the fickle nature of Houston weather. On the lottery side of things, December 20, 2017 saw a “thaw”. Lotto Texas had a Pattern encore, and then some. Powerball stayed mellow through-and-through.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern couldn’t bear to be out of the spotlight for long. Right off the heels of Saturday night’s drawing, it made its 785th appearance. This time, the winning numbers were 6, 10, 11, 22, 30, and 45.

The {3-2-1} Pattern strikes again. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that there have been 1509 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in 52% of them.

Now with 136 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.3% of the 785 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. It has also appeared in 9.01% of all 1506 drawings. This Specific Order was seen alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in this past Saturday’s drawing, and thus, we had a playback.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball didn’t see any encores, or a playback. With winning numbers 1, 20, 61, 64, 69, and PB 20, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 44th appearance.

A {3-1-1-1} Pattern for the evening. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in roughly 19% of the 231 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the December 2, 2017 drawing.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 20th appearance, and has now played in 45.5% of the 44 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.66% of all 231 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the [1-1-3-1] General Order was seen in the November 15, 2017 drawing.

With its third-ever appearance, the 1 1 0 0 3 1 Specific Order has played in 15% of the 20 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.82% of the 44 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in roughly 1.30% of all 231 drawings. We last saw the 1 1 0 0 3 1 Specific Order in the June 7, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

No repeating Three-Number Combinations for Powerball this time.

Saturday will be the Christmas Eve-Eve drawing. Will Lotto Texas and Powerball gift us with encores or rare Patterns?

Pre-Christmas Pattern Show

For those of you who have yet to do any Christmas shopping, there isn’t much time left! But, let’s forget about last-minute shopping for a moment and get into the festive part of Christmas. The gift exchanges, the parties, and of course, the Mega Millions. In the lead-up to Christmas last year, Mega Millions took it easy. Was it another quiet pre-Christmas for this lottery? Although not a blowout, Tuesday’s results were noteworthy.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 28, 37, 39, 42, 58, and MB 2, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 62nd appearance in the December 19th drawing.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern isn’t rare, but not that common, either. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 316 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has now played in 19.6% of them. Prior to Tuesday night, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was seen in the November 7, 2017 drawing.

Fun fact: The {3-1-1-1} Pattern played in last year’s lead-up to Christmas, appearing in the December 20, 2016 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order played for the 27th time. It has now played in 43.5% of the 62 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 316 drawings, this General Order has played 8.54% of the time. The [1-3-1-1] General Order was last seen in the October 17, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the [2-2-1-1] General Order that appeared that night.

Making its third appearance was the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 11.1% of the 27 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.84% of the 62 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.95% of all 316 drawings. The 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen over three years ago. More specifically, in the July 25, 2014 drawing.

Even though Lottery Binge wasn’t around three years ago, we thought you’d like to know the specifics. The 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order was reconfigured from the 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order seen that hot summer night. The winning numbers were 22, 29, 33, 41, 68, and MB 12.

Three Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening made its debut in the 2014 Fourth of July drawing. That Combination was 39, 58, and MB 2.

Friday’s drawing will be just three days before Christmas. Will Mega Millions leave a big gift under the tree, or will it follow the path it took last year?

Playback and Encore: Saturday Night Style

So far, our December posts on Lotto Texas and Powerball have covered Australia Plays, similar spreads, and repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations, respectively. December 16th followed a different script. Saturday night’s biggest plays were a Pattern encore and a playback. Which lottery saw what?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

As amazing as it would have been, an Australia Play did not make an encore appearance. Instead, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 784th appearance with winning numbers 5, 10, 16, 22, 26, and 46.

3, 2, 1. Playback. Source: lotterytrend.com.

With 1508 Lotto Texas drawings so far, this Pattern has played in 52% of them. The {3-2-1} Pattern was last seen a week ago in the December 9, 2017 drawing.

Now with 135 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.2% of the 784 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.95% of all 1508 drawings. And, it was seen alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in the December 9th drawing.

To those of you who are new to Lottery Binge or need a refresher: When the Pattern and Specific Order accompany each other in a Lotto Texas drawing, we like to call this a playback. Note that even though the {3-2-1} Pattern and the 3 2 1 Specific Order appear to be the same, this is not an Australia Play. There are other Specific Orders unique to the {3-2-1} Pattern. What makes an Australia Play an Australia Play is that the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order can only be seen together.

Remember this: All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations this time. Perhaps the Australia Play from last time and the playback this time were enough?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball brought back the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern for a three-peat! With winning numbers 9, 35, 37, 50, 63, and PB 11, this Pattern has now played 84 times.

Is a Pattern streak underway? Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

With 230 Powerball drawings to date, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 36.5% of them.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made an encore as well, bringing its number of appearances up to 24. This General Order has played in 28.6% of the 84 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 230 drawings into account, this General order has played 10.4% of the time.

Now with eight appearances, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 33.3% of the 24 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. Out of the 84 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played 9.52% of the time. Finally, when looking at all 230 drawings, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 3.48% of the time. Unlike the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, this Specific Order was not seen in this past Wednesday’s drawing. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order played on October 21, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

The last full week of Christmas shopping is upon us. Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak continue in Powerball? Will there be more Australia Plays or similar spreads?

Christmas Countdown: Mega Millions Style

The world is now in countdown mode. There are now nine days until Christmas and sixteen days until the new year. Subtract a day if you’re reading this from a part of the world that’s at least eight hours ahead of us in Houston. With that said, December 15th was the (un)official start of the countdown, and Mega Millions wanted a part of the action. At the end of the last Mega Millions post, we wondered if a rare Pattern would make an appearance Friday night. Did a rare Pattern have the honor of appearing in the 315th drawing?

General Lottery Analysis

The honor went to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 4, 12, 36, 44, 57, and MB 19, this Pattern has now played 138 times.

The ever-resilient {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in 43.8% of all 315 drawings, and was last seen the previous Friday. Could the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern be trying to establish a “Friday streak” like it did last month? So, this Pattern didn’t appear on December 1, 2017, but there are two Fridays left. Anything can happen!

Now with 40 appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in about 29% of the 138 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 315 drawings, this General Order has played 12.7% of the time. Prior to Friday, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order previously played on October 24, 2017.

The 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order made its 14th appearance, and has now played alongside the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order 35% of the time. When looking at the 138 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played 10.1% of the time. Now looking at all 315 drawings, this Specific Order has played 4.44% of the time. We last saw the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order in the September 1, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)
