The Blindsided Lottery

On this blog, we provide analysis on Lotto Texas, Powerball, and Mega Millions. One of these lotteries is not like the others. This lottery starts off with a lower initial jackpot and slowly, yet gracefully, increases its prize whenever players fail to pick the six winning numbers. When this lottery gets knocked down, it takes much longer to build its stores back up.

That lottery, friends, is Lotto Texas, and on February 10, 2021, that lottery got smacked down. The prize reset itself to $5 million, naturally. And, let’s be honest, $5 million is nothing to sneeze at.

The night was kinder to Powerball. Although there wasn’t a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore, this lottery received an assist from a similar spread. With that came a jackpot that rose to $56 million.

Three-Number Combinations

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations. A similar spread was enough excitement for Powerball!

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball stick with these Patterns as we head into Valentine’s weekend, or will they be dumped?

Extended Stay and Leftovers

Are you still sleeping off those Thanksgiving leftovers? Want to wait until the last possible moment to travel back home before enduring another school/work week (even if it is from home)? Stay for a few more days! That’s what happened to Lotto Texas.

The night of November 28, 2020 saw a {3-3} Pattern encore and it was thanks to that encore that someone became $9 million richer! Naturally, the prize reset itself to $5 million.

Although Powerball didn’t see a Pattern encore, there was a playback. No one was able to claim the grand prize, and thus, the jackpot climbed to $231 million.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our U.S. readers. Stay safe and use good judgement!

Many of us have “those relatives”. They seem to only come by during the holiday season, gifting you and the family with something cool or hoarding the pie. Or you’ve only met them once or twice when you were a little kid and don’t see them again until several years later (if ever).

The Patterns that played in both Lotto Texas and Powerball on November 25, 2020 were much like those relatives. These rarely seen Patterns had their say and boy did they have a lot to say! So much, in fact, that the jackpot climbed to $9 million in Lotto Texas and $216 million in Powerball.

The Wednesday Night Hush

The halfway mark is a good checkpoint. You’ve made it 50 percent of the way and it’s time to make assessments. Do you keep your current pace, or do you change gears? For Lotto Texas and Powerball, it’s a no-brainer. After a busy start to October, in part due to the former’s fall from the top, mid-October (or close to it) is the perfect time to slow down!

Yes, there was a Pattern encore October 14, 2020 and a playback surfaced. And yes, the jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball leveled up to $6 million and $82 million, respectively. However, there was a certain something missing from that night’s lottery drawings.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 12, 17, 29, 31 and 35, the {3-3} Pattern made its 144th appearance.

Now with 46 appearances, the 3 3 0 Specific Order has played in 31.9% of the 144 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1803 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.55% of the time.

Both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 3 0 Specific Order were last seen September 30, 2020. It was this very Pattern and Specific Order that brought Lotto Texas down to size.

Four-Number Combinations

The playback was a bittersweet reminder of what Lotto Texas once had. Reminiscing over what was meant no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Prior to Wednesday night, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order played March 13, 2019.

Three-Number Combinations

Powerball was more upbeat than Lotto Texas. However, no repeating Three-Number Combinations were found.

Will the second half of October be a mellow one for Lotto Texas and Powerball, or will the mood change Saturday night?

Some Things are Not Worth Repeating

It finally happened. After 8.5 months, Lotto Texas was brought down. Oh, don’t feel sorry for Lotto Texas; it had to happen sooner or later. Although both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 3 0 Specific Order were a hit last time, they brought about the crash of September 30, 2020 and made a lone player from Seguin much richer. Mega Millions and Powerball hugged and high-fived each other, happy that the “uppity little lottery” was put back in its place. The prize was reset to $5 million.

Amidst the chaos, Powerball held strong. With the help of an Australia Play, its position in lottery high society was maintained. The jackpot increased to $41 million.

Now with 45 appearances, the 3 3 0 Specific Order has played in 31.5% of the 143 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1799 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.50% of the time.

Both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 3 0 Specific Order were last seen September 26, 2020.

Similar Spread

What about a similar spread? That should’ve been enough to keep Lotto Texas in the good graces of lottery high society, right? No. No it wasn’t.

The spread for this past Wednesday night’s numbers was 07:05:03:08:03. This was similar to the spread from the November 1, 2000 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 27, 30, 35, 38, 45 and 43, with the spread being 03:05:03:07:08. Different numbers played both nights but notice that the differences between numbers were the same, although in different orders.

Three-Number Combinations

There was also room for two repeating Three-Number Combinations!

With Lotto Texas out of the way, Powerball can now focus on other things, like, “How long will it take to have a monster-sized jackpot?” It may a while yet but to Powerball, the natural order has been restored and all is right with the world.

As for Lotto Texas? Well, it had a taste of the high life, and it’s not going to let this setback get in the way! But we must get through Saturday’s drawing first. It isn’t likely that the {3-3} Pattern will make a three-peat, but it is 2020, after all. We’ll need to keep an eye on it!

The Proud, the Stubborn

September 26, 2020 featured strong showings from both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Having been on top for the past 1.5 weeks, Lotto Texas wasn’t ready to give that up! The players were thwarted once again, and the jackpot hit $47 million.

Meanwhile, Powerball also saw a jackpot boost. The prize jumped from $25 million to $34 million, closing the gap between the two lotteries.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball’s jackpot boost got a little help from a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak! With winning numbers 11, 21, 27, 36, 62 and PB 24, this Pattern played for the fourth time in a row. Saturday night also marked the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern’s 200th appearance.

We last saw the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order in the March 7, 2020 drawing.

Three-Number Combinations

A trio of repeating Three-Number Combinations also came to Powerball’s aid:

Given the current rate things are going, it won’t be much longer before Powerball has the largest jackpot. Lotto Texas will either have to start seeing larger jackpot increases or will have to get reacquainted to not being top dog. Will Powerball’s dream come true soon?

Pummeling and (Near) Playbacks

One word described the night of August 5, 2020: brutal. Lotto Texas and Powerball players got pummeled for even daring to think they could win either of the jackpots. It could be argued that players of the former bore the brunt of it, as there was a Texas-sized playback. With that playback came a jackpot now worth $30.25 million. That quiet, unassuming Lotto Texas ain’t so quiet these days, and hasn’t been for some time.

A playback looked to be on the horizon in Powerball but no go. The jackpot there settled at a comfortable $158 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The uncommonly seen {3-3} Pattern was the cause of the kerfuffle here. With winning numbers 8, 12, 15, 37, 44 and 54, this Pattern made its 141st appearance.

Now, 141 is a pretty big number, but see, there have been 1783 Lotto Texas drawings. Of those drawings, the {3-3} Pattern has only played in 7.91% of them.

Now with 53 appearances, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has played in 37.6% of the 141 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1783 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.98% of the time.

Both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 0 3 Specific Order were last seen in the June 13, 2020 drawing.

The {3-3} Pattern couldn’t bear to act alone. In addition to the playback, it was accompanied by a posse of repeating Four-Number Combinations:

The Fight for Dominance

Today’s title isn’t something you’d expect for a Lottery Binge post. But you see, things haven’t been exactly “normal” in the lottery world these past few weeks. We had a lottery that’s known for its respectability (rhymes with “Potto Lexus”) become the one with the largest jackpot. In fact, this past Saturday saw its jackpot rise (again!) to $21.25 million. Powerball, determined to not have its jackpot won so easily, pulled itself back up. With no one able to pick all six numbers, the jackpot rose to $22 million.

Four-Number Combinations

A playback wasn’t the only tool in the Lotto Texas arsenal. There were also two repeating Four-Number Combinations, one of which played twice before!

  • 6, 18, 48, 49 (Debuted September 26, 2018)
  • 6, 18, 39, 48 (Debuted July 5, 2008 and previously played October 3, 2015)

  • 2, 50, PB 5 (Debuted February 10, 2016)

With Powerball on top, it appears that the “rightful” order has been restored. As we head into another week of lottery madness, will Powerball get past $22 million this time? Will the Lotto Texas jackpot keep climbing?

Let Those Jackpots Ride!

There’s a buzz in the air! School’s (letting) out and all that pent-up energy has to go somewhere. The theme parks may not be open yet, but the beaches and great outdoors are as popular as ever. Everyone is looking forward to more daylight, warmer temperatures and hopefully an increasing sense of “normalcy”.

Lotto Texas and Powerball spent the night of May 27, 2020 boosting their stores. With no one picking the six winning numbers, their respective jackpots climbed to $18.25 million and $125 million.
