To Spread or Not to Spread

After a week of repeating Four-Number Combinations and similar spreads, Lotto Texas and Powerball scaled it back some Saturday night. However, there was one question these lotteries asked themselves: “Should I play another similar spread?” One lottery opted to go for it, while the other was content to play repeating Combinations. Regardless, Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their respective jackpots climb to $11.75 million and $74 million.

Lotto Texas ventured into the July 29, 2023 drawing with a {3-2-1} Pattern three-peat! With winning numbers 6, 7, 13, 32, 39 and 48, this Pattern has now played 1154 times. This Pattern has now played in 52.6% of the 2195 Lotto Texas drawings and was last seen July 26, 2023.

Now with 214 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.5% of the 1154 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 2195 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order played 9.75% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the 3 1 2 Specific Order played May 20, 2023.

Saturday night’s numbers had a spread of 01:06:19:07:09. Similarly, a spread of 09:01:06:19:07 was featured in the November 21, 2022 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 12, 21, 22, 28, 47 and 54. Note how the differences between numbers were the same, but their orders were different.

With Powerball having been knocked out of the billion-dollar race some time ago, Mega Millions was left standing tall and mighty. Any talk of the jackpot being brought down to size was squashed Friday night. After three months of nurturing (and taunts), the Mega Millions jackpot crossed over the billion dollar line! An assist from a repeating Four-Number Combination wasn’t needed to boost the prize to $1.05 billion.

Mega Millions has been on a jackpot high since mid-April. For several months, this lottery has not so quietly built the jackpot, taunting the players as the jackpot grows ever larger. Yet, many are captivated by the chance of winning that newsworthy jackpot. Beautiful and messy, isn’t it?
