23 Skidoo! A Blast From the (Recent) Past

A lot has happened since Saturday’s post. The Memorial Day weekend came and went, and Lottery Binge reached the one-year mark! Right off the heels of a big weekend, Mega Millions mellowed out. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations, nor were there any rare plays. However, there was a play that appeared not too long ago. From last week, in fact.

Now with 154 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. The winning numbers for May 30, 2017 were 5, 20, 32, 37, 67, and MB 5.

This Pattern has played in 40.8% of the 377 drawings, and was recently seen in the May 23, 2017 drawing.

With 35 appearances, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in 22.7% of the 154 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This statistic shrinks to 9.28% when looking at all 377 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order was last seen in the April 4, 2017 drawing.

Our Mega Millions coverage concludes with the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order, which made its fourth appearance. This Specific Order has played in 11.4% of the 35 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General order has appeared, and in 2.60% of the 154 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.06% of all drawings, and previously played in the February 24, 2017 drawing.

With May under wraps and June right around the corner, what does Friday’s drawing have in store?

Australia Play + (Repeating) Combinations = Summer

Memorial Day means many things to those of us residing in Lottery Trend Country. Fallen soldiers are honored, for one. The long weekend kicks off summer vacation for some kids, and a teaser for others. Regardless of what weekend it is, Lotto Texas and Powerball appear to reserve some of their biggest plays for Saturday nights. How did May 27th go? Lotto Texas saw a repeating Four-Number Combination and Powerball had a repeating Three-Number Combination, for one. There was also an Australia Play and a General Order and Specific Order that played together in a previous drawing. Which lottery had what play?

Lotto Texas

In just a week-and-a-half, Lotto Texas saw another Australia Play! The 196th appearance of the {2-2-2} Pattern was marked by winning numbers 1, 16, 25, 34, 50, and 53.

Of course, the 2 2 2 Specific Order also made its 196th appearance. The Australia Play has appeared in 13.5% of the 1450 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen May 17, 2017.

It wasn’t enough to have just an Australia Play. Saturday night’s drawing also harbored the repeating Four-Number Combination 16, 34, 50, and 53.

This Combination debuted in the December 19th, 2007 drawing.

Powerball

Although Powerball didn’t see an Australia Play, it did see its most commonly played Pattern. Making its 61st appearance, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was represented by winning numbers 5, 10, 28, 55, 67, and PB 9.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 35.5% of the 172 Powerball drawings, and previously played May 6, 2017.

With twelve appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 19.7% of the 61 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.98% of all Powerball drawings. Prior to Saturday, this General Order was last seen in the February 22, 2017 drawing.

The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its third appearance, and has now played in 25% of the twelve drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. When looking at the 61 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, the statistic becomes 4.92%, and shrinks to 1.74% when taking all 172 drawings into account. Like the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order, this Specific Order previously played in the February 22nd drawing.

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 28, 67, and PB 9, and it debuted in the New Year’s Eve 2016 drawing.

Lotto Texas and Powerball ended May with a fireworks show of their own, and it looks like a hot summer is on the way. Onward to June!

Marchin’ Orders

Summer is upon us in Lottery Trend Country (US). The barbeque pits are firing up, beach parties are in full swing, and some kids got a head start to summer vacation. Mega Millions kick-started summer with a repeating Three-Number Combination Friday night! Now, before I get to that, there’s a matter concerning order that must be discussed. Both the General Order and the Specific Order were last seen this past March.

The winning numbers in the May 26th drawing were 25, 26, 28, 37, 56, and MB 5.

Now with 61 appearances, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 16.2% of the 376 Mega Millions drawings. Prior to Friday, this Pattern was last seen just a couple of weeks ago in the May 12th drawing.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made it 21st appearance, and has now played in 34.4% of the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 5.59% of all drawings. This Specific Order previously played in the March 31st, 2017 drawing.

Making its fourth appearance, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in roughly 19% of the 21 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.56% of the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.06% of all drawings. Like the [3-1-1-1] General Order, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the March 31st, 2017 drawing.

And now it’s time to discuss the Three-Number Combination.

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 28, 37, and 56.

This Combination made its debut in the February 7th, 2017 drawing.

Next week will mark the first anniversary of Lottery Binge, and of course, the end of May. How will Mega Millions end the month? Will there be a rare play? Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern go for an encore appearance?

Leading Threes

Saturday night’s momentum continued into the May 24th drawings for Lotto Texas and Powerball. Both lotteries saw big plays! One such play came in the form of our dear friends the repeating Combinations. Lotto Texas saw a repeating Four-Number Combination and Powerball had a repeating Three-Number Combination.

And in both Lotto Texas and Powerball, the number three (3) was not in short supply.

Lotto Texas

The not oft-seen {3-3} Pattern played for the 125th time, with winning numbers 11, 13, 17, 48, 51, and 54.

This Pattern has now played in 8.63% of the 1449 Lotto Texas drawings, and previously played in the April 19, 2017 drawing.

Making its 46th appearance, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has now played in 36.8% of the 125 drawings where the {3-3} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.17% of all drawings. Prior to Wednesday night’s drawing, this Specific Order was last seen in the April 8, 2017 drawing.

Right off the heels of Saturday’s drawing, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance. This time, the winning numbers were 28, 32, 33, 38, 62, and PB 15.

Now with 33 appearances, this Pattern has played in 19.3% of the 171 Powerball drawings.

Making its twelfth appearance, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played in 36.4% of the 33 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.02% of all drawings. This General Order was last seen in the April 26, 2017 drawing.

With three appearances, the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order has now played in 25% of the 12 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, and approximately 9.09% of the 33 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 171 Powerball drawings, this statistic becomes 1.75%. This Specific Order was last seen in the early days of Lottery Binge: June 1, 2016, to be exact.

The repeating Three-Number Combination was 28, 33, and 38.

The debut for this Combination was in the February 15, 2017 drawing a little over three months ago.

Looks like Lotto Texas and Powerball are ready to kick it into high gear for summer. Will the lead-in to the Memorial Day weekend be a fireworks show or will things mellow out?

Making No Waves

May 23rd was a peaceful night for Mega Millions. There were no Pattern encores or wild and crazy plays. The biggest draw of the evening was a repeating Three-Number Combination.

Making its 153rd appearance, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. The winning numbers were 6, 13, 17, 33, 60, and MB 14.

This Pattern has now played in 40.8% of the 375 drawings, and was last seen in the May 16th drawing, exactly one week prior.

The [2-1-1-1-1] made its 37th appearance, and has now played in 24.2% of the 153 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.87% of all drawings. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, this General Order previously played in the February 14th, 2017 drawing.

Now with six appearances, the 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 16.2% of the 37 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.92% of the 153 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.6% of all 375 drawings. The 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the January 20th, 2017 drawing.

The Three-Number Combination of the evening was 6, 17, 33.

This Combination made its debut in the February 6th, 2015 drawing.

With Memorial Day (and summer vacation for a few lucky kids) right around the corner, will Friday’s drawing bring on the fireworks?

Ain’t No Party Like a Combo Party

Saturday nights for Lotto Texas and Powerball are usually busy, and May 20th was one of those nights. Repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations was the theme, and both lotteries got to take part. The debut dates ranged from just last month to the beginning of the millennium*!

*Or end of the millennium, depending on who you ask.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 751st appearance with winning numbers 8, 9, 15, 20, 38, and 39.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern remains the most commonly seen in Lotto Texas, now appearing in 51.9% of the 1448 Lotto Texas drawings. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern was last seen a few weeks ago in the April 26, 2017 drawing.

Making its 136th appearance, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has now played in 18.1% of the 751 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.39% of all Lotto Texas drawings. This Specific Order previously played in the March 18, 2017 drawing.

The grandest part of Saturday night’s drawing was the repeat appearances of four Four-Number Combinations!

  • 15, 20, 38, 39 (Debuted April 19, 2008)
  • 8, 15, 38, 39 (Debuted July 29, 2009)
  • 8, 9, 15, 39 (Debuted September 23, 2000*)
  • 9, 15, 20, 39 (Debuted April 8, 2009)

Lotto Texas saw plenty of repeating Combination action. Did Powerball see just as much?

Powerball

With winning numbers 5, 22, 45, 47, 54, and PB 3, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 32nd appearance.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 18.8% of the 170 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the April 29, 2017 drawing.

Now with 13 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in roughly 40.63% of the 32 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.65% of all Powerball drawings. This General Order previously played in the April 5, 2017 drawing.

The 1 1 0 3 0 1 Specific Order made its second appearance. With that said, this Specific Order has played in 15.4% of the 13 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared, 6.25% of the 32 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.18% of all drawings. Interestingly, this Specific Order made its debut in the same April 5th drawing that the [1-1-3-1] General Order was last seen.

The repeating Three-Number Combination was 5,22,45, fresh off the heels of its debut just last month in the April 15, 2017 drawing.

Lone repeating Three-Number Combination. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Powerball may not have seen as much in the way of repeating Combinations, but it’s not often that the General Order and the Specific Order share the same “last seen” date.

With the drumbeats of summer vacation growing ever louder in Lottery Trend Country, what will the week ahead have in store? Will there be more repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations or will there be a mellowing out. Memorial Day is around the corner, after all.

Stirring the Pot

From having a (deceptive) Australia Play to repeating Three-Number Combinations, Mega Millions took a different route in the May 19th drawing. An uncommonly seen Pattern surfaced, and this Pattern had previously played with the General Order of the evening. There was also a Specific Order that played for the first time in almost two years.

The {3-2-1} Pattern played for the 24th time on Friday night, with winning numbers 1, 4, 5, 24, 30, and MB 1.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern previously played in the April 21st drawing almost exactly one month prior, and has played in 6.42% of the 374 Mega Millions drawings.

Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, the [3-2-1] General Order previously played in the April 21st drawing. This General Order has now played 12 times, appearing in half of the drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. The [3-2-1] General Order has also played in 3.21% of all 374 drawings.

Making its second appearance, the 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played in approximately 16.67% of the 12 drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order appeared, and in roughly 8.33% of the 24 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared. This Specific Order has also appeared in 0.53% of all 374 drawings. The 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the June 2nd, 2015 drawing.

If one were to look at the Pattern and the General Order, one would be tempted to think that an Australia Play had taken place. Not only did they feature the same numbers (3-2-1), they also played together before. But, if one were to look at the Specific Order, this can’t be an Australia Play. After all, there’s no such thing as a 3 2 1 Specific Order in Mega Millions! The 3 2 1 Specific Order exists only for Lotto Texas.

As for repeating Three-Number Combinations, there were none on Friday night.

Will next week feature a true Australia Play?

Numbers on Walkabout

It seems that Australia Plays, and psyching people out with plays that seem to be Australia Plays, is now a thing. Lotto Texas saw a true Australia Play in the May 17th drawing, as well as two repeating Four-Number Combinations. Powerball seemed to follow Mega Millions in the whole “Looking like an Australia Play, but not” bit. Well, almost. Out of the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order, only two of these made an encore.

Lotto Texas

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 16, 17, 29, 31, 37, and 51, marking the 195th appearance of both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order.

The Australia Play has now played in 13.5% of the 1447 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen a few weeks ago in the April 29th drawing.

The repeating Four-Number Combinations were

  • 16, 17, 31, 37 (Debuted April 15th, 2009) and
  • 16, 29, 31, 51 (Debuted January 5th, 2008)

Powerball

Right off the heels of this past Saturday’s drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance! The winning numbers this time around were 4, 11, 39, 45, 48, and PB 09.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Now with 53 appearances, this Pattern has played in 31.4% of the 169 Powerball drawings.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order also made an encore appearance in Wednesday’s drawing. Statistics-wise, this General order has now played in 32.1% of the 53 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in approximately 10.1% of all drawings.

Earlier, I had said that Powerball almost followed Mega Millions in the “Looking like an Australia Play, but not” category. If you remember this past Saturday’s Lottery Binge, the May 12th Mega Millions showed the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order had all appeared together before. Thing is, the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were not the same!

In Powerball’s situation, while the Pattern and General Order had made an encore appearance, the Specific Order did not. That’s because Wednesday’s drawing saw the debut of the 2 0 1 2 0 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 5.88% of the 17 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, 1.89% of the 53 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 0.59% of all Powerball drawings.

Looking ahead to Saturday, will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat? Will there be another Australia Play?

Catching Breath

After Friday night’s drawing, you were probably just eager to see a real Australia Play in Mega Millions, weren’t you? Seeing the Pattern, General Order, and the Specific Order having all previously played together before was just a teaser, right? Well, that was not to be. Tuesday night was not the night, and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t make an encore appearance. Yet, as calm as the May 16th drawing was, a Three-Number Combination made its second-ever appearance.

Pattern-wise, reigning champion {2-1-1-1-1} made its 152nd appearance, with winning numbers 4, 35, 39, 56, 72, and MB 11.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 40.8% of the 373 Mega Millions drawings, and was last seen in the May 9th drawing exactly one week ago.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 45th appearance, and has now played in 29.6% of the 152 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 12.1% of all 373 drawings. Prior to Tuesday, this General Order previously played in the April 18th, 2017 drawing.

Making its eighth appearance, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has now played in approximately 17.8% of the 45 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.26% of the 152 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.14% of all drawings. The 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the October 21st, 2016 drawing.

The biggest play of the evening was the repeat appearance of Three-Number Combination 4, 35, MB 11.

This Combination made its debut in the December 27th, 2013 drawing.

Will Friday’s drawing feature a bona fide Australia Play? Will an even bigger play usher in the start of the weekend or will Mega Millions mellow out?

Spreading the (Numbers) Love

Mother’s Day is that special day when mothers are cherished and remembered. Cards, gifts, and special meals are just some of the ways we celebrate. Lotto Texas and Powerball decided to spread the love on May 13, 2017 with encore appearances of Wednesday’s Patterns for both lotteries. Any commonalities between them end at this point, for Lotto Texas had most of the action. A repeating Four-Number Combination made its round, and something was spreading.

Lotto Texas

The {4-2} Pattern made an encore, with winning numbers 12, 17, 24, 25, 27, and 28.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

Now with 164 appearances, this Pattern has played in 11.3% of the 1446 Lotto Texas drawings.

The Specific Order of the evening was 2 4 0, making its 28th appearance. This Specific Order has now played in 17.1% of the 164 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.94% of the 1446 drawings. Prior to Saturday, the 2 4 0 Specific Order was last seen three months ago, in the February 4, 2017 drawing.

Now, this encore of the {4-2} Pattern was a bit different than others. See, there was a similar spread of 07:05:01:01:02 that came with the July 30, 2016 drawing. The winning numbers were 1, 8, 13, 14, 15, and 17. Given Saturday night’s numbers, the spread was 05:07:01:02:01. The thing about similar spreads is that even though the differences between numbers in the drawings were the same, the orders were different.

There’s one more thing to discuss, and that’s the repeating Four-Number Combination! The Combination consisting of 17, 14, 25, and 28 made its debut over nine years ago in the November 7, 2007 drawing.

Highlighted repeating Four-Number Combination. From lotterytrend.com.

Powerball

As mentioned earlier, Powerball also saw the Pattern from Wednesday night make an encore. The 52nd appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was marked by winning numbers 17, 20, 32, 63, 68, and PB 19.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in approximately 31% of all 168 Powerball drawings.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 16th appearance, and has now played in 30.8% of the 52 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.52% of all drawings. This General Order was last seen in the May 3rd drawing just a couple of weeks ago.

Making its second appearance, the 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has now played in 12.5% of the 16 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This becomes 3.85% when looking at the 52 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 1.19% when looking at all 168 drawings. The 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order made its debut early last year in the February 3, 2016 drawing.

Looking to the week ahead, will there be more similar spreads? Will there be a three-peat in either Lotto Texas or Powerball?
