Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling the Lottery Way

Thanks to Mega Millions analyst/Tuesday night blogger Romulun Harris for filling in while I was away on business!

Older readers are likely familiar with the three academic R’s: reading, (w)riting, and (a)rithmetic. There is in fact another set of R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. These environmental R’s are meant to encourage people to reduce the waste that ends up in landfills by reusing products for as long as they can, and recycle any component that can be repurposed for something else. In the Spirit of Earth Day, Lotto Texas and Powerball embraced two of the three environmental R’s.

The night of April 22, 2023 meant the end of the road for the Lotto Texas jackpot. After a whopping seven months of rising jackpots, the massive prize was won by a Dallas-Fort Worth suburbanite. Of course, the prize was reduced to $5 million. Meanwhile, Powerball’s reuse of Wednesday night’s Pattern increased the jackpot to $28 million.

If these past seven months taught us anything, it’s that even the “small fry” lotteries can wield big surprises! Even though it will be a while before Lotto Texas sees such a high jackpot, we at Lottery Binge plan to be there when it happens.

Presently, Mega Millions and Powerball jackpot values are $2 million apart from each other. Which one will pull ahead Monday night?
