End-of-August Double Playback Special

Lotto Texas and Powerball said goodbye to August this past Wednesday. Compared to what we saw this past Saturday and last Wednesday, August 29th was low-key. There were no similar spreads, and the {2-2-1-1} Pattern didn’t have a three-peat. Still, the lotteries packed a punch. Not only did Lotto Texas and Powerball see their respective jackpots rise to $6.25 million and $90 million, they both saw playbacks.

That is, the Pattern, General Order (Powerball), and Specific Order were seen together on a previous date. As we’ll see, each lottery had its own date.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 4, 11, 22, 23, 31, 44, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 825th appearance.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In addition to the encore/playback, there was a lone repeating Four-Number Combination.

The Tuesday “Tone-Down”

With the malaise of August shaken off, and what with the month nearly over, Mega Millions calmed down. Three repeating Three-Number Combinations is a tough act to follow! However, this did not mean an uneventful night. As of the August 28th drawing, the jackpot stands at $152 million, and there may have been a shout-out to this past Friday night.

General Lottery Analysis

Everything’s Better with Similarities

There’s a very good chance that Lotto Texas and Powerball casted off the August Doldrums for good! August 25th had strong showings for both lotteries. Not only did their respective grand prizes rise to $6 million and $80 million, there were some similarities to what we saw last time.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 3, 10, 23, 32, 36, and 48, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 824th appearance.

Of the 1580 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in 52.2% of them, and was last seen on August 11th, 2018.

Now with 134 appearances, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played in 16.3% of the 824 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This statistic becomes 8.48% when taking all 1580 drawings into consideration. Prior to Saturday night, the 2 3 1 Specific Order played in the July 14th, 2018 drawing.

Similar Spread

A similar spread happened for the second drawing in a row! If you recall our last post, this phenomenon happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. Saturday night had a spread of 07:13:09:04:12. This is similar to the one that occurred on May 13th, 2015. That night, the winning numbers were 2, 15, 22, 31, 43, and 47, with a spread of 13:07:09:12:04.

This the first time in Lottery Binge history that a similar spread occurred in either lottery back-to-back.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Once again, Lotto Texas saw a repeating Four-Number Combination! This time, the Combination was 3, 23, 32, and 36.

Mega Millions and the Trio of (Repeating) Combinations

With the start of the school year comes the start of football season. Be it high school, college, or professional, it may very well be that football may have supplanted baseball as America’s pastime. Mega Millions isn’t a sport, but it has its own grand slams and upsets. With a jackpot now at $134 million, it may be soaring towards the stratosphere soon enough! As far as action was concerned for the August 24th drawing, it was more on the Combination side of things.

Doldrums-B-Gone

The jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball inched upwards once more. Their respective jackpots are now $5.75 million and $70 million. But that’s not the focus of today’s post. Not really.

Let it be known that the night of August 22nd was the night when Lotto Texas and Powerball joined forces and cast off the yoke of the “August Doldrums”! How was this achieved? Well, the introduction alone can’t do justice to what happened.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {4-1-1} Pattern made its 171st appearance with winning numbers 11, 25, 37, 38, 51, and 53.

Prior to Wednesday night, both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 1 1 4 Specific Order previously played on August 15th, 2018. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we had ourselves a playback!

And there was more. So much more.

Similar Spread

Lotto Texas also saw a similar spread. This happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Wednesday night was 14:12:01:13:02. This is similar to the one that occurred on June 4th, 2008. That night, the winning numbers were 4, 6, 18, 19, 32, and 46, with a spread of 02:12:01:13:14.

The 2 0 0 2 1 1 Specific Order previously played on July 7th, 2018.

Powerball didn’t see any repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball be able to keep the August Doldrums away on Saturday?

Portrait of Mega Millions at the End of July

Yes, I know it’s August. Yes, many of you readers out there are back in the “school routine”. (Pre-)kindergarten through twelfth grade, or college, it matters not. To commemorate the start of a (hopefully) “normal” school year, Mega Millions shook itself out of the doldrums in the August 21st drawing. The grand prize is now $118 million, and it may soar to crazy heights soon enough. Focusing on the present, there were two components of Tuesday night’s drawing that had shades of July. Or at least the end of it.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 14, 16, 19, 38, 57, and MB 11, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 168th appearance.

Will the jackpot rise once again Friday night? Could Friday night also see a Pattern encore?

A Fork in the (Lottery) Road

The only thing Lotto Texas and Powerball really had in common was a rise in their jackpots. Their respective grand prizes are now $5.5 million and $60 million. August 18th also saw the lotteries go their separate ways. One lottery saw its most common Pattern while the other saw a Pattern that doesn’t play often.

Now, 171 times sounds like a large amount of appearances. This would be a reasonable assumption to make except with Lotto Texas, there have been 1578 drawings. Given this, the {4-2} Pattern has only played 10.8% of the time. This not-so-common Pattern was last seen on June 9th, 2018.

Now with 33 appearances, the 0 4 2 Specific Order has played in 19.3% of the 171 appearances where {4-2} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 2.09% of all 1578 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 0 4 2 Specific Order played on May 10th, 2017.

With the school year starting up this week, can Lotto Texas and Powerball shake off the August doldrums?

Mega Millions’ “Normal” Friday

August. The month with no (official) US holidays, or at least holidays that warrant a day off from work. It’s the month that summer vacation winds down for many students as the schools, love ‘em or hate ‘em, open once more. In our neck of the woods, it’s the last weekend of summer vacation. Rather than end the “mega holiday” with a blowout, Mega Millions took a subdued approach in the August 17th drawing. There was no playback, no Pattern three-peat to look forward to. The biggest takeaways were a couple of repeating Three-Number Combinations and a grand prize now at $102 million.

Lotto Texas & Powerball Climb (Slowly) Upwards

To keep in the spirit of school starting back up, there were no upsets August 15th. After the wins for both Lotto Texas and Powerball, it’ll be a while yet before either lottery sees their jackpots soar to great heights. As of this post, their respective grand prizes now stand at $5.25 million and $50 million.

Mega Millions Encore and a Combination Avalanche

To think that the month is (almost) halfway over! Believe it or not, some kids have already traded the beachballs for the books and for the others, it’s just a matter of time. Mega Millions need not concern itself with school or holidays. If it could, then August 14th would be “Avalanche Day”. The fallout of Avalanche Day was a rising jackpot, now at $88 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 11, 26, 44, 45, 46, and MB 11, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance.
