The Grand Jackpot Rift

‘Tis better to have been at the top and lost it, than to have never been at the top at all. At least, that’s the conclusion Lotto Texas came to after all that’s happened over the past 8.5 months. The road to $47 million will be an arduous one, though this past Saturday night was a step in the right direction. With no one matching the six winning numbers, the prize inched up to $5.25 million.

Mega Millions had reason to celebrate October 2, 2020:

With Lotto Texas out of the picture for the foreseeable future, there’s still the matter of frenemy Powerball. That lottery is known to take large leaps with jackpot boosts and the jackpot over there may very well eclipse Mega Millions’. Will Mega Millions and Powerball be locked in a battle of who can get the largest jackpot, or will one get knocked out of the ring early?

Some Things are Not Worth Repeating

It finally happened. After 8.5 months, Lotto Texas was brought down. Oh, don’t feel sorry for Lotto Texas; it had to happen sooner or later. Although both the {3-3} Pattern and the 3 3 0 Specific Order were a hit last time, they brought about the crash of September 30, 2020 and made a lone player from Seguin much richer. Mega Millions and Powerball hugged and high-fived each other, happy that the “uppity little lottery” was put back in its place. The prize was reset to $5 million.

Amidst the chaos, Powerball held strong. With the help of an Australia Play, its position in lottery high society was maintained. The jackpot increased to $41 million.

What about a similar spread? That should’ve been enough to keep Lotto Texas in the good graces of lottery high society, right? No. No it wasn’t.

That night, the winning numbers were 27, 30, 35, 38, 45 and 43, with the spread being 03:05:03:07:08. Different numbers played both nights but notice that the differences between numbers were the same, although in different orders.

As for Lotto Texas? Well, it had a taste of the high life, and it’s not going to let this setback get in the way! But we must get through Saturday’s drawing first. It isn’t likely that the {3-3} Pattern will make a three-peat, but it is 2020, after all. We’ll need to keep an eye on it!

The Proud, the Stubborn

A Reset Deferred

It’s been exactly one week since the Powerball jackpot was won. Since that time, Powerball continues to pick up the pieces, and Lotto Texas remains on top. The prize in that lottery is now worth $45.5 million. The natural order hasn’t been restored in Powerball’s mind. No way that Lotto Texas stayed on top! What’s a “disgraced” lottery to do?

Lotto Texas was in a world of its own. Powerball was forced to reset, and Lotto Texas was now on top. And, after what happened September 19, 2020, it extended its stay until at least the next drawing. The players failed once more to match all six numbers. Neither Mega Millions nor Powerball are strangers to being the ones on top, but for Lotto Texas, it’s a wondrous, yet terrifying experience. Staying on top can either be long-lasting, or short-lived. The Grand Combination Explosion

Once all 1792 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.40% of the time. Prior to Saturday night, the 4 2 0 Specific Order played June 6, 2020.

Similar Spread

Saturday night’s numbers had a spread of 05:07:01:03:15. March 18, 2017 had a spread similar to this. That night, the winning numbers were 12, 15, 16, 23, 38 and 43, and their spread was 03:01:07:15:05. Different numbers played both nights but notice that the differences between numbers were the same, although in different orders. A fine specimen of a similar spread, wouldn’t you say?

Powerball also decided to play one of its rarer Patterns. With winning numbers 15, 21, 22, 27, 47 and PB 7, the {4-1-1} Pattern made its 15th appearance.

This Pattern has now played in 2.92% of the 514 Powerball drawings and was last seen May 27, 2020.

The [4-1-1] General Order, now with seven appearances, has played in 46.7% of the 15 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 514 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has also played 1.36% of the time. The [4-1-1] General Order was last seen November 13, 2019.

Now with a grand total of two appearances, the 0 4 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 28.6% of the seven drawings where the General Order was [4-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 13.3% of the 15 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.39% of all 514 drawings. The 0 4 0 1 0 1 Specific Order made its first appearance in the May 16, 2018 drawing.

Of course, that repeating Four-Number Combination had four repeating Three-Number Combinations as part of its entourage:

The top three Combinations made their debut in the July 11th drawing mentioned earlier. Although the last Combination in the group played on that date (naturally), its debut was January 27, 2018.

But, wait! There’s one more Combination: 15, 22 and 27 debuted June 24, 2020.

As the days grow shorter, the jackpots grow larger. Lotto Texas isn’t going to go down without a fight, and Powerball is content with the gap between them. Of course, if Powerball isn’t careful, it may find itself looking at Lotto Texas from behind. On the other hand, fate may deal Lotto Texas a bad hand, leaving Powerball to gloat as the “uppity” little lottery from down South has to start all over again at $5 million.
