May 3rd With a Side of Repeating Combinations

Well, after a festive weekend, it wouldn’t seem out of the ordinary for Lotto Texas and Powerball to mellow out. Of course, that didn’t mean there weren’t any big plays on May 10th. Far from it, in fact. Wednesday night’s results in both lotteries made a call back to the recent past.  As in, “Last week” recent past.

Lotto Texas

No, the {4-1-1} Pattern did not make an encore appearance. However, the {4-2} Pattern, having played exactly one week prior in the May 3rd drawing, made its 163rd appearance. The winning numbers were 21, 23, 27, 31, 38, and 46.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 11.3% of the 1445 Lotto Texas drawings.

How exciting it would’ve been if everything in Lotto Texas had previously played in May 3rd’s drawing! Alas, that was not so. The 0 4 2 Specific Order, now with 32 appearances, was last seen in the February 11th, 2017 drawing. This Specific Order has now played in 19.6% of the 163 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern has appeared, and 2.21% of all 1445 drawings.

The biggest draw of the evening in Lotto Texas was the repeat appearances of two Four-Number Combinations. These Combinations were

  • 23, 31, 38, and 46 (Debuted December 18th, 2010) and
  • 21, 23, 27, and 38 (Debuted February 11th, 2009)
Repeating Four-Number Combinations are highlighted in red boxes. From lotterytrend.com.

Powerball

As it was in Lotto Texas, the Pattern was the only callback to May 3rd.  The 51st appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was due to winning numbers 29, 31, 46, 56, 62, and PB 8.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played in 30.5% of the 167 Powerball drawings.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 19th appearance, and was last seen in the February 4th, 2017 drawing. With that said, this General Order has played in 37.3% of the 51 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.4% of all Powerball drawings.

Making its second appearance, the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order has now played in 10.5% of the 19 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, 3.92% of the 51 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in approximately 1.2% of all 167 drawings. The 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order made its debut in the September 28th, 2016 drawing.

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will there be a Pattern encore in either Lotto Texas or Powerball? Will a Specific Order make its debut?

(Almost) Repeat de Mayo

Pardon the corny title, but a funny thing happened in the May 9th Mega Millions drawing. Right off the heels of Cinco de Mayo, both the Pattern and the General Order made an encore appearance! How amazing would it have been to see repeating Three-Number Combinations that made their debut on May 5th, (insert year)? Alas, that was not to be. The Lottery Trend analysis team was content with the Pattern and General Order encores and ran with it.

Ahem.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 151st appearance, with winning numbers 6, 29, 45, 69, 73, and MB 11.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

As of Tuesday night, this Pattern has played in 40.7% of the 371 drawings.

Making its 37th appearance, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played in 24.5% of the 151 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.97% of all Mega Millions drawings.

The outlier, if it can be called such, was the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order. Unlike the Pattern and Specific Order of the evening, this Specific Order was last seen in the March 24th, 2017 drawing. Statistically speaking, this Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 37 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared and 4.64% of the 151 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 371 drawings into account, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 1.89% of the time.

Will there be a rare Pattern in Friday’s drawing, or will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat?

Post-Cinco de Mayo Combo Mambo

The calendar may have said that Cinco de Mayo was over, but that didn’t mean Lotto Texas and Powerball were going to be reserved! May 6th was a Saturday after all, and both lotteries saw some big plays. Lotto Texas saw repeating Four-Number Combinations and Powerball saw one repeating Three-Number Combination. Before getting to these goodies in more detail, we must of course run through the “standard” analyses.

Lotto Texas

Saturday’s winning numbers were 14, 25, 38, 44, 46, and 48, making this the 158th appearance of the {4-1-1} Pattern.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 10.9% of the 1444 drawings, and was last seen in the March 29th drawing a little over a month ago.

The 1 1 4 Specific Order made its 53rd appearance, and has now played in 33.5% of the 158 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.67% of all Lotto Texas drawings. Prior to Saturday, the 1 1 4 Specific Order previously played in the October 12th, 2016 drawing.

This all gave way to the following two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 25, 44, 46, 48 (Debuted November 29th, 2006) and
  • 38, 44, 46, 48 (Debuted September 6th, 2006)

Powerball

Reigning Pattern {2-1-1-1-1} made its 60th appearance, with winning numbers 11, 21, 31, 41, 59, and PB 21.

Now having appeared five times, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 35.7% of the 14 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.33% of the 60 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.01% of all 166 drawings. To see when the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen, we need to look at the March 29th, 2017 drawing.

The repeating Three-Number Combination 11, 41, 59 made its debut in the May 25th, 2016 drawing.

Will there be more repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations next week? Will either the {4-1-1} or the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern be bold enough to go for an encore?

A Trio for Cinco de Mayo

For our readers scratching their heads at the title, Cinco de Mayo is a holiday to commemorate Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862 (source). This holiday, believe it or not, is more popular in Lottery Trend Country (a.k.a. the US) than it is in Mexico. Means of celebration include, but are not limited to, margaritas, Mexican or Tex-Mex cuisine, and…Mega Millions? This year, the two coincided, and Mega Millions got into the spirit with three repeating Three-Number Combinations.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 150th appearance, with winning numbers 4, 23, 33, 47, 53, and MB 7.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Just like it is in sister lottery Powerball, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen in Mega Millions, and by a healthy margin. This Pattern has now played in 40.5% of the 350 drawings, and previously played in the April 18th, 2017 drawing.

With its 36th appearance, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has now played in 24% of the 150 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.73% of all 350 drawings. Prior to Friday, this Pattern was last seen in the March 24th, 2017 drawing.

The 1 1 1 2 0 1 Specific Order made its ninth appearance. Statistically speaking, this Specific Order has played in 25% of the 36 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, 6% of the 150 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.43% of all Mega Millions drawings. To see when the 1 1 1 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played, we need to look at the March 17th, 2017 drawing.

Finally, we come to the repeating Three-Number Combinations. The Combinations this time were

  • 23, 33, 47 (Debuted June 25th, 2015)
  • 33, 53, MB 7 (Debuted October 29th, 2013)
  • 4, 53, MB 7 (Debuted March 21st, 2017)

Will there be more repeating Three-Number Combinations next week? Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance, or will a rarer Pattern play?

Scaling Back a Bit

The month of April ended with a bang. There was an Australia Play and a repeating Four-Number Combination in Lotto Texas, and a repeating Three-Number Combination in Powerball. Although there was nothing in the May 3rd drawings that screamed “Blowout!” there were some big plays.

Lotto Texas

One of these big plays was the 162nd appearance of the {4-2} Pattern, which isn’t commonly seen in Lotto Texas. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 4, 13, 42, 46, 52, and 53.

This Pattern has now played in 11.2% of the 1443 drawings and was last seen in the March 4th, 2017 drawing.

The 2 0 4 Specific Order made its 21st appearance, and has now played in roughly 13% of the 162 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern appeared. This statistic becomes 1.46% when taking all 1443 drawings into account. Prior to Wednesday, this Specific Order previously played in the February 8th, 2017 drawing.

Powerball

Powerball saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 17, 18, 49, 59, 66, and PB 9.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Now with 50 appearances, this Pattern has played in 30.3% of the 165 Powerball drawings. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern previously played in the March 25th, 2017 drawing.

Making its 15th appearance, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has now played in 30% of the 50 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.09% of all Powerball drawings. This General Order was previously seen in the March 22nd, 2017 drawing.

The big play of the evening in Powerball was the debut of the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 6.667% of the 15 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared and in 2% of the 50 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared. When taking all 165 Powerball drawings into account, the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 0.606% of the time.

Will the weekend give us a {2-2-1-1} repeat in Powerball? Will another Specific Order make its debut?

And Now May

May is another one of those transition months. It’s the last month of school for some lucky kids in Lottery Trend Country, basketball playoffs are underway (Go Rockets!), and the first anniversary of Lottery Binge is coming up. Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, and what better way to get in the spirit than a three-peat?

The May 2nd drawing started the month with the third consecutive appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Its 113th appearance was marked by winning numbers 5, 14, 42, 43, 58, and MB 1.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now appeared in 30.6% of the 369 Mega Millions drawings thus far.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 42nd appearance, and has now played in 37.2% of the 113 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 11.4% of all Mega Millions drawings. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the [2-2-1-1] General Order was last seen in the April 28th, 2017 drawing.

Our Mega Millions analysis concludes with the seventh appearance of the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 16.667% of the 42 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, 6.19% of the 113 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.90% of all 369 drawings. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the April 25th, 2017 drawing.

With Cinco de Mayo kicking off the first weekend of May this year, will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern be bold enough to make a fourth appearance?

Number Storm

The steady rain from Wednesday night turned into a downpour Saturday. What sprouted after the rains of April 29th were big plays for both Lotto Texas and Powerball.

Lotto Texas

One of the big events in Lotto Texas was the return of the Australia Play! As is the nature of such a play, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 194th appearance. The winning numbers were 2, 5, 25, 35, 41, and 53.

Prior to Saturday night, the last time an Australia Play came about was in the February 22nd, 2017 drawing. The Australia Play has now appeared in 13.5% of 1442 Lotto Texas drawings.

Saturday’s Australia Play also harbored two repeating Four-Number Combinations. These were

  • 2, 35, 41, 53 (Debuted August 6th, 2011) and
  • 2, 25, 35, 41 (Debuted July 5th, 2014)

Prior to Saturday, the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the November 19th, 2016 drawing.

Last, but certainly not least, a Three-Number Combination made a repeat appearance! The Combination was 22, 45, and PB 5.

This Combination made its debut in the November 14th, 2015 drawing.

With April behind us and with May on the way, will a trend of big plays be established for Lotto Texas and Powerball?

Doubling Down on the Slow Roll

April has officially come and gone for Mega Millions. There were no sightings of a rare Pattern or a repeating Three-Number Combination. Instead, the night of April 28th was marked by the encore appearances of both the Pattern and the General Order.

Right off the heels of Tuesday’s drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 112th appearance. The winning numbers were 6, 13, 18, 20, 31, and MB 13.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 30.4% of the 368 Mega Millions drawings to date.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order also made an encore appearance. With 41 appearances, this General Order has now played in 36.6% of the 112 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.1% of all Mega Millions drawings.

The 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order made its second appearance Friday night, now having played in 4.88% of the 41 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.79% of the 112 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.54% of all drawings. The 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the December 17th, 2013 drawing. This was nearly three-and-a-half years ago.

May is on its way, and summer is right around the corner in Lottery Trend country. Will Mega Millions start the month with a {2-2-1-1} three-peat?

April Showers

“April showers bring May flowers,” so the saying goes. One can assume that said showers are of steady rains, not sprinkles or deluges of Biblical proportions. The April 26th drawings for Lotto Texas and Powerball were just like those proverbial showers. There were no major upsets, and the biggest play of the evening wasn’t obvious, at least on the surface.

Lotto Texas

Lotto Texas had the biggest draw of the evening, with the encore appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern. Its 750th appearance was thanks to winning numbers 9, 25, 30, 40, 45, and 53.

Winning Texas Lottery numbers. From lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has now played in 52.05% of the 1441 Lotto Texas drawings, and remains the most commonly seen Pattern. Recall that the {3-2-1} Pattern was just seen this past Saturday.

The Specific Order of the evening was 1 2 3. Now with 137 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 18.3% of the 750 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 1441 drawings, this statistic becomes 9.51%. The 1 2 3 Specific Order was last seen in the December 3rd, 2016 drawing.

There were no repeating Four-Number, or Five-Number Combinations on Wednesday night.

Powerball

Powerball saw an uncommon Pattern in the form of {3-1-1-1}. Winning numbers 1, 15, 18, 26, 51, and PB 26 brought the number of appearances up to 30.

Winning Powerball numbers. From lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 18.4% of the 163 Powerball drawings, and previously played in the April 5th, 2017 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 11th appearance, its first since the March 4th, 2017 drawing. This General Order has played in approximately 36.67% of the 30 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.75% of all 163 drawings.

With only two appearances, the 1 3 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has now played in 18.2% of the eleven drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in approximately 6.667% of the 30 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} has appeared, and in 1.23% of all drawings. The 1 3 0 1 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the November 12th, 2016 drawing.

The thing about showers is that the grey skies give way to sunlight and fields with flowers abloom. With the last drawings of the month for Lotto Texas and Powerball taking place on Saturday, will the flowers bloom early?

April Spring Roll

April is almost over. Easter and Passover have come and gone, and Tax Day is in the rear-view mirror. The unicorn hype has died down (for now?) and summer is right around the corner. To commemorate this occasion, Mega Millions took it easy April 25th, with no repeating Three-Number Combinations or major plays.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 111th appearance, with winning numbers 3, 13, 33, 40, 50, and MB 2.

Winning MegaMillions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in approximately 30.2% of the 367 Mega Millions drawings. Prior to Tuesday, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was last seen in the April 14, 2017 drawing.

Next, the [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 40th appearance. This General Order has played in 36.03% of the 111 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 367 drawings, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played 10.9% of the time. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the [2-2-1-1] General Order was also last seen in the April 14th drawing.

The quiet night concluded with the sixth appearance of the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order. As of Tuesday, this Specific Order has played in 15% of the 40 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.41% of the 111 drawing where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared and in 1.63% of all drawings. To see when the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played, we need to look at the July 26th, 2016 drawing, which played exactly nine months prior.

With one more drawing before the month closes out, will Mega Millions see a repeating Three-Number Combination or a rare Pattern?
