Doldrums-B-Gone

The jackpots for Lotto Texas and Powerball inched upwards once more. Their respective jackpots are now $5.75 million and $70 million. But that’s not the focus of today’s post. Not really.

Let it be known that the night of August 22nd was the night when Lotto Texas and Powerball joined forces and cast off the yoke of the “August Doldrums”! How was this achieved? Well, the introduction alone can’t do justice to what happened.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {4-1-1} Pattern made its 171st appearance with winning numbers 11, 25, 37, 38, 51, and 53.

Of the 1579 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time.

Now with 57 appearances, the 1 1 4 Specific Order has played in 33.3% of the 171 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When taking all 1579 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.61% of the time.

Prior to Wednesday night, both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 1 1 4 Specific Order previously played on August 15th, 2018. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we had ourselves a playback!

And there was more. So much more.

Similar Spread

Lotto Texas also saw a similar spread. This happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Wednesday night was 14:12:01:13:02. This is similar to the one that occurred on June 4th, 2008. That night, the winning numbers were 4, 6, 18, 19, 32, and 46, with a spread of 02:12:01:13:14.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas may have been the strongest party Wednesday night, but Powerball’s results were nothing to sneeze at, either. With winning numbers 1, 7, 45, 47, 69, and PB 13, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 89th appearance.

No doldrums for Powerball. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 301 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 29.6% of the time. Like the {4-1-1} Pattern seen in Lotto Texas, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern played in the earlier-mentioned August 15th drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 36th appearance and has now played in 40.4% of the 89 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in roughly 12% of all 301 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this General Order played in the July 28th, 2018 drawing.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball be able to keep the August Doldrums away on Saturday?

Mega Millions’ “Normal” Friday

August. The month with no (official) US holidays, or at least holidays that warrant a day off from work. It’s the month that summer vacation winds down for many students as the schools, love ‘em or hate ‘em, open once more. In our neck of the woods, it’s the last weekend of summer vacation. Rather than end the “mega holiday” with a blowout, Mega Millions took a subdued approach in the August 17th drawing. There was no playback, no Pattern three-peat to look forward to. The biggest takeaways were a couple of repeating Three-Number Combinations and a grand prize now at $102 million.

Finally, when taking all 385 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 1.04% of the time. The 1 0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order played alongside the [1-2-2-1] General Order in the earlier-mentioned June 8th drawing.

Lotto Texas & Powerball Climb (Slowly) Upwards

To keep in the spirit of school starting back up, there were no upsets August 15th. After the wins for both Lotto Texas and Powerball, it’ll be a while yet before either lottery sees their jackpots soar to great heights. As of this post, their respective grand prizes now stand at $5.25 million and $50 million.

As the Lotto Texas and Powerball jackpots continue their slow climb upward, will there be any upsets in Saturday’s drawing, or will the August doldrums continue?

Two Lottery Winners and a Summer Windown

There was room for only one jackpot to go beyond the half-billion-dollar mark this summer. But let’s be honest; one reason why reason most people are infatuated with the lottery is the crazy-large jackpots. The other reason, of course, is winning! August 11th was a night of winners for both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Someone in Texas became $16 million richer and a single player in New York won the $245 million prize. Their respective grand prizes are now $5 million and $40 million.

Mega Millions and a “Routine” Pattern

After the huge jackpot and the rarely-seen Australia Play, Mega Millions has had one wild summer. The season itself may have about six weeks left, but the school boards say otherwise. As summer vacation starts to wind down, Mega Millions went for something more routine in the August 7th drawing. The aftermath, if it can be called that, was a rising jackpot. As of this writing, the grand prize is now a cool $63 million.

The End-of-Month Double Repeat (Sort of)

Summer’s almost over, but don’t worry! There are still a few weeks left of sleeping in before panic-shopping for Back to School. One thing that is over is July for Lotto Texas and Powerball. July 28th marked the last drawings of the month for both, and with no grand prize winners, their respective jackpots are now $13.75 million and $187 million. Despite their many differences, they did share one thing in common.

So far, it looks like Lotto Texas and Powerball were joined at the hip. Pattern-wise at least. Question is, was Powerball’s Specific Order also last seen on July 18th, 2018?

Now with four appearances, the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 11.4% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [2-2-1-1]. Rise of the Jackpots: Redux

The jackpot fever did not break for either Lotto Texas or Powerball July 18th. Not only did they see their respective jackpots rise to $11.5 million and $130 million, they got an extra boost. The title of today’s post is because one of these lotteries saw the “extra boost” in the form of a Pattern encore.

A Streak of Playbacks

Lotto Texas is like the wimpy kid going up against the larger kids in a competition. He may not be the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest, but he can use his wits and come out on top. Compared to Powerball and Mega Millions, Lotto Texas has a “wimpy” jackpot – $90 million and $306 million, respectively, vs. $9.5 million*. Yet, Lotto Texas can generate its own hype. July 7th saw the fourth drawing in a row where a playback happened. That is, both the Pattern and Specific Order played together on a previous date. Interestingly, Powerball hasn’t had one in a while, although it did come close.

*$9.5 million is nothing to sneeze at.
