Mega Millions’ Reduction Plan

The past few Mega Millions drawings saw a budding relationship with repeating Three-Number Combinations. At least three such Combinations would appear. As it is in life, so it is in the lottery world: Nothing lasts forever.

The April 6, 2021 Mega Millions drawing saw a massive reduction in repeating Three-Number Combinations. As that was going on, the jackpot crossed the $200 million threshold. More specifically, the prize had increased to $201 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 1, 19, 20, 32, 42 and MB 17, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 179th appearance.

There have now been 660 Mega Millions drawings, and this Pattern has played 27.1% of the time. We last saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern March 19, 2021.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order, now with 65 appearances, has played in 36.3% of the 179 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.85% of all 660 drawings.

Now with nine appearances, the 1 2 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 13.8% of the 65 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.03% of the 179 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.36% of all 660 drawings.

Prior to Tuesday night, both the [1-2-2-1] General Order and the 1 2 2 0 0 1 Specific Order played February 9, 2021.

Three-Number Combinations

Although there were far fewer repeating Three-Number Combinations this time around, one did manage to make an appearance. Repeating Three-Number Combination 1, 20 and 42 debuted December 22, 2017.
