Rare Patterns, Not Rare Turkey

With a few more days to go before Thanksgiving, November 18th got into the business of Patterns. Rare Patterns. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball got together and served up the treats for rare Pattern lovers everywhere. Once more, it appeared that Lotto Texas had most of the fun. But, Powerball couldn’t be counted out completely.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 1, 4, 5, 8, 12, and 26, the {5-1} Pattern made its 54th appearance.

Six numbers and a rare Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

The appearance of this Pattern is a double whammy, it being a rare Pattern for one. The other being that Saturday night’s drawing was the 1500th drawing with numbers 1-54. With that said, the {5-1} Pattern has played a whopping 3.6% of the time. Believe it or not, it wasn’t that long ago that this Pattern was last seen. It made an appearance in the August 5th, 2017 drawing.

Now with eight appearances, the 5 1 0 Specific Order has played in 14.8% of the 54 drawings where the {5-1} Pattern has played. This Specific Order has also played in 0.53% of all 1500 drawings, and previously played in the March 25th, 2015 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

It wasn’t enough for a rare Pattern to show itself. There had to be a repeating Four-Number Combination, too! The Combination of the evening was 1, 8, 12, 26, and it made its debut in the July 2nd, 2016 drawing.

And out of those six numbers came a repeating Four-Number Combination. Source: lotterytrend.com.

What was Powerball’s rare Pattern?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern may reign supreme in Lotto Texas, but that’s certainly not the case in Powerball. Here, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its twelfth appearance, with winning numbers 17, 28, 31, 32, 39, and PB 26.

{3-2-1} in Powerball is a rare sight. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has played in the 222 Powerball drawings to date, and previously played in the October 4th, 2017 drawing.

That was also the last time we saw the [2-3-1] General Order. Now with 10 appearances, this General Order has played in roughly 83.3% of the 12 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. It has also played in 4.50% of all 222 drawings.

Now with its third appearance, the 0 2 3 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 30% of the ten drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. Prior to Saturday night, this Specific Order was last seen in the January 4th, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Even with a rare Pattern, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will there be Pattern encores in Wednesday’s drawing?

It’s a Friday Night Thing

Could there be a trend a-brewing in Mega Millions? The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an appearance in the November 17th drawing. What’s interesting is that so far in November, this Pattern has only played on Fridays. In fact, this past Friday was the third Friday in a row. As the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has shown us in the past, there’s usually more to the story.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 3, 26, 55, 58, 70, and MB 15, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 133 times.

And, it has played in 0.75% of the 133 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 0.33% of all 307 drawings.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance the Tuesday before (U.S.) Thanksgiving?

Encore at the Halfway Point

November 15th was an important day. It marked the halfway point of the month, and a reminder that (U.S.) Thanksgiving is right around the corner. To all you U.S. readers, don’t panic! You’ve got about a week left to make plans. Lottery-wise, Lotto Texas had all the fun.

Lotto Texas

Right off the heels of Saturday’s drawing, the {4-1-1} Pattern made an encore. This time around, the winning numbers were 2, 5, 8, 18, 32, and 37.

It was nearly four years ago when this Combination made its debut. More specifically, it was the December 11th, 2013 drawing.

Powerball

The 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order made its debut this past summer, in the July 1st, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination lull continued Wednesday night.

Will the {4-1-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat on Saturday? Will Powerball see a repeating Three-Number Combination?

Common or Not Common?

That is the question. The {3-2-1} Pattern made an appearance in the November 14th Mega Millions drawing. Those of you who follow our Lotto Texas posts know that the {3-2-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen there. But what of Mega Millions? Sure, the {3-2-1} Pattern doesn’t play as much as the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern (The King of Mega Millions Patterns), but it has a respectable showing. Right?

General Lottery Analysis

Well, when it comes to number of appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern doesn’t even come close to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Nor the {2-2-1-1} Pattern for that matter. With winning numbers 1, 14, 21, 22, 28, and MB 19, Tuesday’s drawing marked the 14th appearance of the Pattern. How fitting!

Given that there have been 306 drawings in the 70-25 system, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 4.58% of the time. This Pattern was last seen in the April 21st, 2017 drawing.

Making its sixth appearance was the [2-3-1] General Order. This has now played in 42.9% of the 14 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.96% of all 306 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order was seen on January 6th, 2017. We reconfigured this General Order from the [2-1-2-1] General Order from that night.

The 2 0 0 3 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut. It has now played in roughly 16.67% of the six drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also now played in 7.14% of the 14 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.33% of all 306 drawings.

Will the {3-2-1} be daring enough to make an encore Friday night?

Something New for Saturday

Veteran’s Day/Remembrance Day is a time to remember the veterans of wars past and present. Perhaps it was fitting that neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball saw Pattern encores November 11th. One Lottery saw its most common Pattern. The other Pattern, while not nearly so common, has had decent showings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Just as it was Wednesday night, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern go for an encore this coming Wednesday?

King of the Hill

Some Patterns, when they disappear from play, are never gone for long. It’s just one way they climb the ranks, so to speak. But, only one Pattern can be king of the hill. In Mega Millions, that Pattern is {2-1-1-1-1}. What shenanigans did it get up to November 10th?

General Lottery Analysis

Friday night saw winning numbers 6, 23, 38, 42, 58, and MB 24, bringing the number of appearances up to 132.

Stuck on Repeat

Encore. Three-peat. Four-peat. What do these words have in common? They scream “back-to-back”, that’s what! November 8th was a good night for those who love seeing Pattern encores. How good?

There was a double-serving.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

In our last Lotto Texas/Powerball post, we mentioned the latter’s love of repetition. It was so fond of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern that it played for the third time in a row. This time, the winning numbers were 12, 14, 20, 21, 34, and PB 22.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Although Powerball gave way to a Pattern three-peat, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {3-2-1} and the {2-2-1-1} Patterns stick together for Saturday night?

November Oldies

Even after the introduction of a new system, some oldies showed up. No, nothing dating before this decade appeared. That’s more Lotto Texas territory, anyway. But, there were a couple of eyebrow-raising developments in the November 7th Mega Millions drawing.

General Lottery Analysis

Tuesday night’s winning numbers were 1, 54, 60, 68, 69, and MB 11. This marked the 61st appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern.

The power of six. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

With 304 drawings to date (Remember, a new system went into effect last week), this Pattern has played 20.1% of the time. We last saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern on October 17th, 2017. This was reconfigured from the {2-2-1-1} Pattern seen that night.

Now with 15 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 24.6% of the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. And, it has now played in 4.93% of all 304 drawings. The [1-1-3-1] General Order was basking in the summer sun the last time it appeared. More specifically, the July 22nd, 2016 drawing.  We reconfigured this from the [1-4-1] General Order seen that night.

Speaking of specifics, the 1 0 0 1 3 1 Specific Order made its fourth appearance Tuesday night. This puts it at 26.7% of the 15 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared. When looking at the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, this Specific Order has played 6.56% of the time. Finally, it has played in all 304 drawings. It’s been a while since anyone last saw the 1 0 0 1 3 1 Specific Order. It previously played in the November 14th, 2014 drawing. Can you believe that it’s been almost three years?

Three Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Tuesday night.

Will there be a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore or more “oldies” in Friday night’s drawing?

Pattern Fall-Back

Daylight Savings Time ended in the U.S. and Canada earlier this morning. Hope everyone set their clocks back one hour!

Lottery-wise, it appeared Lotto Texas stole the show Saturday night. Powerball may not have been “in-your-face” with action, but it didn’t let Lotto Texas have all the fun. In fact, Powerball was quite fond of repetition. Pattern-wise.

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.

Will either Pattern make an encore appearance in this Wednesday’s drawing?

New Month, New Script

First order of business: a correction. In the post highlighting the October 27th Mega Millions drawing, we had mentioned that the “regular” numbers would range from 1 to 75, and Mega Balls would be from 1 to 25. The “regular” balls will be from 1 to 70. Mega Balls will range from 1 to 25.

What does this mean for Lottery Binge, and our other sites? The Lottery Trend-Mega Millions analysis team reconfigured our database to account for this new system, henceforth known as 70-25.

Do we have to start all over? Not at all! All drawings in the old system (75-15) that contained “regular” numbers 71-75 will be omitted in our Mega Millions assessment going forward. There are plenty of drawings that did not have 71-75!

General Lottery Analysis

Eerily, or no, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance in the November 3rd drawing. This brings the number of appearances up to 131. The winning numbers were 10, 22, 42, 61, 69, and MB 3.

The 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order made its sixth appearance. This Specific Order has played in 20% of the 30 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played. It has also played in 4.58% of the 131 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.98% of all drawings.
