End of Month Lottery Ruckus

With the end of March comes the end of the first quarter of 2019. Now, the month may be over, but neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball are going into April quietly!

There were no Pattern streaks, let alone encores, and with the monster jackpot already won, it’s tempting to let our guards down. But lotteries care not for mortal feelings! The results from March 30th were good for those who enjoy robust jackpots. With no grand prize winners in either Lotto Texas or Powerball, their respective prizes are now $13.5 million and $54 million.

Will April shower us with Pattern streaks and large jackpots, or will the second quarter of 2019 start off with something more low-key?

Out Like a {2-2-1-1} (Pattern)

March is said to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb. Not Mega Millions! The month is over, and it’s been a rollercoaster for this lottery. A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore wasn’t in the cards March 29th, and with no grand prize winner, April will be starting with an $88 million jackpot. Even though the prize didn’t grow to the heights seen in Powerball, $88 million is none too shabby.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, with 44 appearances, has now played in 34.6% of the 127 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 449 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 9.80% of the time.

This Specific Order has also played in 3.94% of the 127 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.11% of all 449 drawings. Alas, a playback wasn’t meant to be! Prior to Friday night, the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order played November 9th, 2018.

This Combination made its debut June 1st, 2018.

With no Pattern streak or a crazy-large jackpot, it seems as if Mega Millions will have a meek start to April. Far from it! The {2-2-1-1} Pattern is the second-most commonly played Pattern and the thought of it making an encore Tuesday night isn’t farfetched. Will next month be filled with Pattern streaks and a crazy large jackpot, or will Mega Millions keep its composure, relatively speaking?

Kangaroos and Cheese

Such an odd name for a Lottery Binge post, but what happened on March 27th, 2019 was odd. In a good way.

Lotto Texas continued its frolic through “double digit millions” country. Thanks to an Australia Play, it hopped towards a $12.75 million jackpot.

Along the way, the $768.4 million (formerly $750 million) prize in Powerball got kicked over, and a Wisconsinite walked away with the golden ticket! Powerball has since settled down to $40 million.

For the curious: a bit on Wisconsin cheese.

Three-Number Combination(s)

As if a jackpot worth more than three-quarters of a billion dollars weren’t enough, there was a lone repeating Three-Number Combination!

With the crazy-large Powerball jackpot claimed, it appears that March may go out like a lamb. Still, $40 million is nothing to sneeze at, and Lotto Texas is going strong. We’ll have to wait until Saturday’s drawing to see if either Pattern makes an encore.

The Ever-Assertive {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern

There are some things in life that, if you want them, must be taken by force. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t get to be the most commonly-played Pattern by being mousy! It did so with ruthless Pattern streaks and by blocking other Patterns from making encores. With no grand prize winner after the March 26th, 2019 drawing, $75 million dollars will be up for grabs Friday.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore Friday night?

Three-Quarters In

Three-quarters.

That’s 75%.

March 23rd is roughly the three-quarter mark of the month. Perhaps it was fitting that the result of Saturday night’s Powerball drawing is a grand prize now worth $750 million. That’s three-quarters of a billion dollars!

Lotto Texas held on strong. With no grand prize winner, $12.25 million will be up for grabs Wednesday.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Even though it doesn’t have a beastly jackpot, Lotto Texas made waves with the rarely-seen {5-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 18, and 24, this Pattern made its 59th appearance.

Four-Number Combinations

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Lotto Texas felt a showing from a rare Pattern was enough.

We last saw the 0 2 0 1 2 1 Specific Order August 25th, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

For fear of overshadowing the crazy-large jackpot, there was just one repeating Three-Number Combination: 26, 66, and PB 5.

This Combination debuted July 20th, 2016.

The only thing that’s certain going into next week is that there’s a crazy-large jackpot in Powerball. Wednesday could see that prize being won or the prize growing once again. That {2-2-1-1} Pattern is one of the most common. Will there be a three-peat?

A {3-1-1-1} Pattern Bump

Mega Millions drawings are like snowflakes. There may be similarities, but none are ever alike. Just last week, we watched someone claim $50 million. And, in the March 22nd, 2019 drawing, we passed that threshold. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot bumped up to $57 million.

This Specific Order has also played in 3.49% of the 86 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 447 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 0.67% of the time. We last saw the 1 0 1 0 3 1 Specific Order March 13th, 2018.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern isn’t typically one to make an encore. Most likely though is that that jackpot is going to inch up again after Tuesday’s drawing. One thing for certain is that anything is possible.

Who Loves Playbacks?

The theme of the week so far is “Playback”. Yesterday, we covered the playback in Mega Millions. Lotto Texas and Powerball, not wanting to be left out, received some playback love March 20th. It’s thanks to these playbacks that the normally unassuming Lotto Texas is now flirting with a $11.75 million grand prize. Powerball’s jackpot beast remained unleashed, and now stands tall at $625 million!

Powerball kept the momentum going with two repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Powerball maintains much of the momentum heading into Saturday and it’s possible that the jackpot will jump again. Lotto Texas shouldn’t be discounted, though; the prize there is a more “respectable” sort of juggernaut. Will the results of Saturday night lead to another jackpot climb, or will at least one prize be won?

Mega Millions Calming

If March 15th is known as “The Ides of March”, then what do you call March 19th? This year, it’s Tuesday. Simply Tuesday.

Okay, maybe not simply. Tuesday night was the last night of winter, calendar-wise. With no grand prize winner, the prize for Friday is now $50 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 42, 53, 66, 68, and MB 15, the {2-1-1-1-1} made an encore! This Pattern has now played 196 times.

Of the 446 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has now played 43.9% of the time.

There was more than just a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore. In fact, Mega Millions exceeded expectations. How, you wonder?

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order also made an encore, and with 46 appearances under its belt, it has now played in 23.5% of the 196 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.3% of all 446 drawings.

And wouldn’t ya know it? The 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order made an encore as well! Now with 17 appearances, this Specific Order has played in roughly 37% of the 46 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.67% of the 196 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 446 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.81% of the time.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, and the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order were all seen together in the March 15th, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

A playback was enough excitement for Mega Millions Tuesday night. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

We’ll have to wait and see if the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern goes on to a three-peat Friday night. And, after what happened just last week, it would be interesting if another $50 million winner popped up. The wonders of lottery: you never know what will happen!

Jackpot Madness: Spring Fever Edition

The calendar says “Winter”, but Lotto Texas and Powerball are ready for spring! March 16th saw a warm-up in the Lottery World, although “warm-up” may be a bit of an understatement. With no grand prize winners, Powerball’s jackpot officially went past the half-billion-dollar mark. More specifically, we’re looking at least $550 million going into Wednesday night! Lotto Texas had a touch of the “Jackpot Fever”, with a prize now at $11 million. Although not nearly as monstrous as Powerball, that’s plenty robust.

This Wednesday marks the official start of spring. Powerball’s prize is currently $550 million, but there’s a good chance it’ll climb again before the actual playdate. This is something to keep an eye on. On a lighter note, will either the {3-2-1} or {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

The Ides of Mega Millions

You know the Ides of March by a more familiar name: March 15th. History (and Shakespearean) buffs will know this as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated. More recently, it was the day that Muslims were murdered during Friday prayer in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Please keep the victims’ families in your thoughts.

March 15th is a day with a gruesome history. Not so for Mega Millions, fortunately. Friday night was fruitful for repeating Three-Number Combinations. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot is now $45 million, and all this was thanks to a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore with winning numbers 3, 29, 56, 62, 64, and MB 4. This Pattern has now played 195 times.

Of the 445 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.8% of the time. Remember; this Pattern played March 12th, 2019.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 45th appearance and has now played in 23.1% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 445 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 10.1% of the time.

Now with sixteen appearances, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 35.6% of the 45 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.25% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 3.60% of all 445 drawings.

History points to the jackpot climbing a bit before being claimed, but this past Tuesday showed that anything can happen. Still, considering that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore, one thing to keep an eye on going into Tuesday is whether there’s a three-peat. This Pattern is fond of streaks.
