Horseshoes and Mega Millions

Close, but no cigar.

Almost doesn’t count, except in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Although nobody won the grand prize in the April 5th Mega Millions drawing, someone in Michigan did win $1 million. Lest the above quotes be a deterrent, $1 million is a hefty hunk of change! There’ll be $120 million up for grabs Tuesday, so keep at it!

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 8, 22, 24, 38, 64, and MB 21, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 198th appearance.

The jackpot climbed once again, and it was all thanks to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. This Pattern is fond of making encores, so that’s something we’ll need to look out for in Tuesday’s drawing. Pattern encore or no, will the jackpot rise once again, or will it be claimed in full?

For April, a Pattern Encore

The momentum was strong with Lotto Texas and Powerball April 3rd. There weren’t any jackpots in “crazy-rich” territory (think $100 million+) but they were robust! Lotto Texas played hard to get; with no grand prize winner, it’ll be going into Saturday with $14.5 million. Powerball settled down with a $68 million prize, for it too couldn’t claim a jackpot winner.

Now for the big question: Who saw the encore?

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 3, 17, 21, 23, 36, and 51, the {3-2-1} Pattern came back for an encore! This Pattern has now played 866 times.

Will April be a month of soaring jackpots and Pattern streaks?

Nothin’ But (Mega Millions) Facts

We all know April 1st is April Fool’s Day, but did you know that April 2nd is International Fact-Checking Day? To celebrate (belatedly), we’re analyzing the April 2nd, 2019 Mega Millions drawing. One noteworthy event was the prize climbing over the $100 million threshold once again! With no one to claim the jackpot, $104 million will be up for grabs Friday.

Prior to Tuesday night, the 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order played January 15th, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Tuesday. That’s no joke.

April has just started, so there’s still plenty of time for Pattern streaks, playbacks, and the possibility of flirting with a “crazy-rich” jackpot. Will the prize continue to rise after Friday’s drawing?

End of Month Lottery Ruckus

With the end of March comes the end of the first quarter of 2019. Now, the month may be over, but neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball are going into April quietly!

There were no Pattern streaks, let alone encores, and with the monster jackpot already won, it’s tempting to let our guards down. But lotteries care not for mortal feelings! The results from March 30, 2019 were good for those who enjoy robust jackpots. With no grand prize winners in either Lotto Texas or Powerball, their respective prizes are now $13.5 million and $54 million.

Will April shower us with Pattern streaks and large jackpots, or will the second quarter of 2019 start off with something more low-key?

Out Like a {2-2-1-1} (Pattern)

March is said to come in like a lion and go out like a lamb. Not Mega Millions! The month is over, and it’s been a rollercoaster for this lottery. A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore wasn’t in the cards March 29th, and with no grand prize winner, April will be starting with an $88 million jackpot. Even though the prize didn’t grow to the heights seen in Powerball, $88 million is none too shabby.

This Combination made its debut June 1st, 2018.

With no Pattern streak or a crazy-large jackpot, it seems as if Mega Millions will have a meek start to April. Far from it! The {2-2-1-1} Pattern is the second-most commonly played Pattern and the thought of it making an encore Tuesday night isn’t farfetched. Will next month be filled with Pattern streaks and a crazy large jackpot, or will Mega Millions keep its composure, relatively speaking?

Kangaroos and Cheese

Such an odd name for a Lottery Binge post, but what happened on March 27, 2019 was odd. In a good way.

Lotto Texas continued its frolic through “double digit millions” country. Thanks to an Australia Play, it hopped towards a $12.75 million jackpot.

Along the way, the $768.4 million (formerly $750 million) prize in Powerball got kicked over, and a Wisconsinite walked away with the golden ticket! Powerball has since settled down to $40 million.

For the curious: a bit on Wisconsin cheese.

As if a jackpot worth more than three-quarters of a billion dollars weren’t enough, there was a lone repeating Three-Number Combination!

With the crazy-large Powerball jackpot claimed, it appears that March may go out like a lamb. Still, $40 million is nothing to sneeze at, and Lotto Texas is going strong. We’ll have to wait until Saturday’s drawing to see if either Pattern makes an encore.

The Ever-Assertive {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern

There are some things in life that, if you want them, must be taken by force. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t get to be the most commonly-played Pattern by being mousy! It did so with ruthless Pattern streaks and by blocking other Patterns from making encores. With no grand prize winner after the March 26, 2019 drawing, $75 million dollars will be up for grabs Friday.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore Friday night?

Three-Quarters In

Three-quarters.

That’s 75%.

March 23rd is roughly the three-quarter mark of the month. Perhaps it was fitting that the result of Saturday night’s Powerball drawing is a grand prize now worth $750 million. That’s three-quarters of a billion dollars!

Lotto Texas held on strong. With no grand prize winner, $12.25 million will be up for grabs Wednesday.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Even though it doesn’t have a beastly jackpot, Lotto Texas made waves with the rarely-seen {5-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 18, and 24, this Pattern made its 59th appearance.

This Combination debuted July 20, 2016.

The only thing that’s certain going into next week is that there’s a crazy-large jackpot in Powerball. Wednesday could see that prize being won or the prize growing once again. That {2-2-1-1} Pattern is one of the most common. Will there be a three-peat?

A {3-1-1-1} Pattern Bump

Mega Millions drawings are like snowflakes. There may be similarities, but none are ever alike. Just last week, we watched someone claim $50 million. And, in the March 22, 2019 drawing, we passed that threshold. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot bumped up to $57 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern isn’t typically one to make an encore. Most likely though is that that jackpot is going to inch up again after Tuesday’s drawing. One thing for certain is that anything is possible.

Who Loves Playbacks?

The theme of the week so far is “Playback”. Yesterday, we covered the playback in Mega Millions. Lotto Texas and Powerball, not wanting to be left out, received some playback love March 20, 2019. It’s thanks to these playbacks that the normally unassuming Lotto Texas is now flirting with a $11.75 million grand prize. Powerball’s jackpot beast remained unleashed, and now stands tall at $625 million!

Powerball maintains much of the momentum heading into Saturday and it’s possible that the jackpot will jump again. Lotto Texas shouldn’t be discounted, though; the prize there is a more “respectable” sort of juggernaut. Will the results of Saturday night lead to another jackpot climb, or will at least one prize be won?
