Hopping Away to Crazy Millions

Easter has come and gone, and the Mega Millions jackpot grew once again. The jackpot eluded capture in the April 23rd, 2019 drawing. The fallout was a prize now standing at $212 million.

How’d Mega Millions get away? By exchanging the opportunity for a {2-2-1-1} three-peat with a hopping mad Australia Play, of course!

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 7, 24, 30, 48, 67, and MB 9, Mega Millions saw its twelfth Australia Play.

Of the 456 Mega Millions drawings, that means the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played 2.63% of the time. It wasn’t that long ago when we last saw an Australia Play. In fact, it was just two weeks ago in the April 9th, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

An Australia Play was mad enough, it seems. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

April is just about over, and Mega Millions has a couple more opportunities for tricks before heading into May. The weekend will most certainly kick off with a crazy-large jackpot, or something close to it. Question is, will the Australia Play make an encore or will a more common Pattern appear?

Saturday Night Hop

With it being a holiday weekend and all, it’s fitting that things slowed down considerably April 20th. Earlier in the week, we were met with a surprise visit from an exact spread in Lotto Texas. In fact, it was the first time our blog covered such an event!

Other than the Pattern streak underway in Powerball, Saturday night was the quietest we’ve seen in a while. With no grand prize winners, $5.5 million and $150 million will be up for grabs Wednesday in Lotto Texas and Powerball, respectively.

Now with 59 appearances, the 1 4 1 Specific Order has played in 33.1% of the 178 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 3.58% of all 1648 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 4 1 Specific Order played July 11th, 2018.

Four-Number Combination(s)

To commemorate the holiday weekend, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern train kept chugging along. With winning numbers 3, 27, 30, 63, 65, and PB 1, this Pattern played for the fifth time in a row!

The Pattern streak continues! Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern, with 136 appearances, has played in 36.8% of the 370 Powerball drawings. We last saw the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the April 17th, 2019 drawing.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, now with 39 appearances, has played in 28.7% of the 136 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 10.5% of all 370 drawings. The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order previously played April 6th, 2019.

Now with eleven appearances, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 28.2% of the 39 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.09% of the 136 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.97% of all 370 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order played September 29th, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

No repeating Three-Number Combinations to be had in Powerball.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak hold strong Wednesday night? Could the {4-1-1} in Lotto Texas make an encore?

A Good Night for an Encore

April 19, 2019 marked two important holidays: Good Friday and the beginning of Passover. Given the magnitude of both these holidays and the magnitude of what happened earlier this week, it’s fitting that Mega Millions continued the trend established this past Tuesday. For starters, the grand prize rose once more and now stands at $192 million.

There was also a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern was liked so much that it came back for another appearance! With winning numbers 18, 25, 43, 44, 57, and MB 25, this Pattern played for the 129th time.

Some things bear repeating. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Of the 455 Mega Millions drawings so far, this Pattern has played 28.4% of the time and was last seen April 16, 2019.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order, now with 42 appearances, has played in 32.6% of the 129 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 455 drawings are taken into consideration, this General Order has played 9.23% of the time. Prior to Friday night, the [2-2-1-1] General Order played March 5, 2019.

Now with two appearances, the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 4.76% of the 42 drawings where the General Order was [2-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 1.55% of the 129 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.43% of all 455 drawings. The 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order made its first appearance December 15, 2015.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Another trait from Tuesday night was the lack of repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Two things to look out for next week will be the jackpot and the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. This Pattern has been known to make three-peats and Mega Millions gets the itch for crazy-large jackpots from time to time. Will the three-peat happen, and will the jackpot continue to rise?

Exactly What It Spreads

Lottery Binge has been gracing the Internet for almost three years. We’ve covered playbacks, Pattern streaks, monster-sized jackpots, similar spreads, and so much more. You can rarely go wrong expecting at least one of the lotteries to see a rise in their jackpots. For instance, Lotto Texas and Powerball will be going into Saturday night with $5.25 million and $136 million, respectively. There just isn’t anything new to cover. Just variations of what we’ve seen before, right?

Wrong!

April 17, 2019 was a night like no other. For the first time ever, we’re covering a little something called

THE EXACT SPREAD!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {4-2} Pattern made its 178th appearance with winning numbers 7, 8, 15, 17, 29, and 30.

There’s always more to the numbers. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1647 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time, and was last seen March 13, 2019.

Now with 38 appearances, the 4 2 0 Specific Order has played in 21.3% of the 178 drawings where {4-2} was the winning Pattern. Once all 1647 drawings have been taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.31% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the 4 2 0 Specific Order played March 9, 2019.

Exact Spread

It was Lotto Texas. Yes, the (often) reserved Lotto Texas that saw the exact spread.

Now, you’ve all heard of the similar spread. For those who haven’t, or need a refresher, a similar spread is what happens when the difference between the numbers in two drawings are the same, but orders of said numbers are different. With an exact spread, both the differences between the numbers in two drawings and the orders of said numbers are the same!

Wednesday night’s numbers had a spread of 01:07:02:12:01.

On April 21, 2012, the winning numbers were 23, 24, 31, 33, 45, and 46. The spread that night was 01:07:02:12:01. To think that it was almost seven years ago!

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were also two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 7, 17, 29, 30 (Debuted November 12, 2011)
  • 7, 15, 17, 29 (Debuted April 16, 2014)
The added cherry on top. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Lotto Texas may never see its jackpot rise to the heights seen in Powerball, but it more than makes up for it with its own wild plays. Speaking of Powerball, a Pattern streak is under way.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 1, 15, 17, 46, 66, and PB 15, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern went on to make its fourth consecutive appearance.

A Pattern streak in motion. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given the 369 Powerball drawings so far, this Pattern has played 36.6% of the time.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order appeared to be in the early stages of streak! With its three-peat, this General Order has now played 37 times. Of the 135 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, this General Order has played 27.4% of the time and in roughly 10% of all 369 drawings.

Both the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order were last seen April 13, 2019.

Now with seven appearances, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 37 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.19% of the 135 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 1.90% of all 369 drawings. We last saw the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order February 2, 2019.

Imagine if Powerball had seen a playback! It seems the lottery gods thought that would’ve been too much for mere mortals.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, who needs a playback when there’s at least one repeating Three-Number Combination, right? The lone Combination, 15, 66, and PB 15, made its debut August 26, 2017.

Shoring up the rear. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com

A holiday weekend is coming up, so it’s possible that Powerball’s Pattern streak may hold. Of course, it could also slip away. Still, there are decent-sized jackpots up for grabs Saturday night.

(C’mon. You wouldn’t turn your nose up at $5.25 million!)

Will Saturday night be hopping mad, or will everything stew in silence?

Mid-Month Malaise?

After the appearance of a repeating Four-Number (yes, Four-Number!) Combination this past Friday night, Mega Millions had two choices April 16th:

  1. Try to outdo the insanity
  2. Slip into a more “normal” routine

Mega Millions decided to grab a little from Column A and a little from Column B. Mild spoiler: There wasn’t another repeating Four-Number Combination. Compared to what we’ve seen in Mega Millions so far this month, Tuesday night was “ho-hum”. And yet, the aftermath of said ho-hum night is why $175 million is up for grabs this Friday. A Good Friday indeed!

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 11, 29, 34, 48, 54, and MB 10, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 128th appearance.

Of the 454 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.2% of the time and was last seen March 29th, 2019.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order, now with 43 appearances, has played in 33.6% of the 128 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 454 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 9.47% of the time. We last saw the [1-2-2-1] General Order February 5th, 2019.

Now with five appearances, the 1 0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 11.6% of the 43 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.91% of the 128 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.10% of all 454 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the 1 0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order played August 17th, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Not only was there no repeating Four-Number Combinations, Three-Number Combinations were nowhere to be found.

What’s certain as we head into Easter weekend is that a large jackpot is up for grabs. As to whether the {2-2-1-1} Pattern makes an encore will remain to be seen. Question is, will the prize be snagged or will it hop away?

The Playback Zone

Of the many lottery-related phenomena covered in Lottery Binge, the playback is quite the character. It shows up when the Pattern, General Order (not applicable to Lotto Texas), and Specific Order all played together on a previous date. The obvious one is the Australia Play, where the Pattern, General Order (again, not applicable to Lotto Texas), and Specific Order were the same, like the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order in Lotto Texas. What about the playbacks that aren’t so obvious?

All this week, there have been several posts on the playback. At least one was seen in Mega Millions recently and our last Lotto Texas post covered an Australia Play. The playback seen on April 13, 2019 brought one Lotto Texas winner $15.75 million. This knocked the prize down to $5 million going into Wednesday.

Powerball’s jackpot, meanwhile, rose quietly to $118 million.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Alright, Powerball wasn’t entirely quiet. As a playback happened in Lotto Texas, there were rumblings of a Pattern streak. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern went for the three-peat with winning numbers 4, 17, 26, 32, 49, and PB 10, bringing its number of appearances up to 134.

A Pattern streak in the works? Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Of the 368 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 36.4% of the time.

Not only did the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make a third consecutive appearance, the [1-2-1-1-1] made an encore as well! With its 36th appearance, this General Order has played in 26.9% of the 134 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.78% of all 368 drawings.

Both the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order were last seen April 10, 2019.

Now with four appearances, the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 11.1% of the 36 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.99% of the 134 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.09% of all 368 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order played August 5, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Along for the ride were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

There don’t appear to be any “monstrous” jackpots going into next week. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in Powerball is just as fond of Pattern streaks as the one in “sister” Mega Millions, so it’s something to keep an eye for. Will that Pattern streak solidify Wednesday night, or will another Pattern take the reins?

The Night Where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Ruled Supreme

What can be said about our dear friend the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern? Sure, it’s the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions, but what else? Well, for one, it gets a kick out of keeping everyone on their heels. If it’s not a Pattern streak, then it’s something else.

April 12th was something else, alright. What transpired Friday night led to the grand prize rising to $157 million. The events were so awe-inducing that an introduction can’t do them justice! You’ll need to keep reading.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 1, 24, 25, 40, 70, and MB 4, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 199th appearance.

Of the 453 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.9% of the time.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, now with 47 appearances, has played in 23.6% of the 199 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 453 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 10.4% of the time.

Now with six appearances, the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 12.8% of the 47 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.02% of the 199 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.32% of all 453 drawings.

We’ve saved the best for last. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [2-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order were all seen together April 5, 2019. Only a week had passed and already there was a playback!

Four-Number Combination

The heat turned up even more with a repeating Four-Number Combination: 24, 25, 40, and 70!

Your eyes aren’t playing tricks. That really IS a repeating Four-Number Combo! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Combination debuted January 3, 2014. Keep in mind that Four-Number Combinations are very uncommon in Mega Millions.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Naturally, a repeating Four-Number Combination has four repeating Three-Number Combinations bundled inside.

  • 24, 25, 40
  • 24, 25, 70
  • 24, 40, 70
  • 25, 40, 70

All of them debuted in that same January 3, 2014 drawing. As a bonus, 24, 25 and 40 were last seen a few months later in the September 23, 2014 drawing.

These weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Bunches of repeating Three-Number Combinations. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given the 199 appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, what happened on Friday night wouldn’t have been out of place for a “200 Appearances Bash”. As it is, that ever-eager Pattern wanted to celebrate early, or so it seems. Will someone have an early Easter present in the form of a $157 million prize Tuesday night, or will it slip from the players’ grasp?

Saturday Leftovers and then Some

Leftovers don’t have to be cold and tasteless. Sometimes when they’re reheated and a little extra kick is added, they taste even better!

April 10, 2018 was a night much like this past Saturday’s. For one, the prizes for Lotto Texas and Powerball rose once more, now at $15.75 million and $101 million, respectively. Not only that, but both Patterns made an encore and one was part of a playback package!

Could the Australia Play start a Pattern streak in Lotto Texas? Will the jackpots in both lotteries continue to ascend?

Down Under with Mega Millions

Spring is in full swing and summer is right around the corner here in Lottery Trend Country. Naturally, things heated up for Mega Millions April 9th. Thinking it could avoid the pressures of high expectations, it jaunted off to the wondrous world of the Australia Play! Tuesday night saw this lottery deliver a powerful kick. Part of the aftermath was a $140 million grand prize for Friday. The rest, well, a blog post introduction isn’t enough to do it justice.

The Australia Play isn’t that common, let alone in Mega Millions, so a Friday night encore isn’t likely. This lottery loves repeating Three-Number Combinations, though, so whether there’s a parade of them remains to be seen. Inquiring minds want to know: Will the jackpot in Mega Millions continue to climb?

That Hidden Pattern Bond

If there’s one sage piece of our childhoods we should remember, it’s “Never judge a book by its cover.” Lotto Texas and Powerball are as opposite as you can get with lotteries. One is more inclined to have monster jackpots while the other takes a more “respectable” approach to the madness. Lotto Texas leapt upwards to $15 million and Powerball climbed to $84 million.

Our analysis showed that April 6th was a night that the lotteries had something else in common.

Both lotteries appear to be bounding along to large jackpots. Going into Wednesday’s drawing, we’ll need to keep an eye out for a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore or at least one of those prizes growing once again. Could the Pattern playdates be joined at the hip once more?
