Mega Millions Calming

If March 15th is known as “The Ides of March”, then what do you call March 19th? This year, it’s Tuesday. Simply Tuesday.

Okay, maybe not simply. Tuesday night was the last night of winter, calendar-wise. With no grand prize winner, the prize for Friday is now $50 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 42, 53, 66, 68, and MB 15, the {2-1-1-1-1} made an encore! This Pattern has now played 196 times.

Of the 446 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has now played 43.9% of the time.

There was more than just a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore. In fact, Mega Millions exceeded expectations. How, you wonder?

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order also made an encore, and with 46 appearances under its belt, it has now played in 23.5% of the 196 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.3% of all 446 drawings.

And wouldn’t ya know it? The 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order made an encore as well! Now with 17 appearances, this Specific Order has played in roughly 37% of the 46 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.67% of the 196 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 446 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.81% of the time.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, and the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order were all seen together in the March 15, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

A playback was enough excitement for Mega Millions Tuesday night. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

We’ll have to wait and see if the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern goes on to a three-peat Friday night. And, after what happened just last week, it would be interesting if another $50 million winner popped up. The wonders of lottery: you never know what will happen!

Jackpot Madness: Spring Fever Edition

The calendar says “Winter”, but Lotto Texas and Powerball are ready for spring! March 16, 2019 saw a warm-up in the Lottery World, although “warm-up” may be a bit of an understatement. With no grand prize winners, Powerball’s jackpot officially went past the half-billion-dollar mark. More specifically, we’re looking at least $550 million going into Wednesday night! Lotto Texas had a touch of the “Jackpot Fever”, with a prize now at $11 million. Although not nearly as monstrous as Powerball, that’s plenty robust.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 864th appearance with winning numbers 1, 8, 15, 33, 44, and 54.

Of the 1638 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.7% of the time and was last seen March 6, 2019.

Now with 164 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in roughly 19% of the 864 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 10.0% of all 1638 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 3 1 2 Specific Order played February 23, 2019.

Four-Number Combinations

For fear of being overshadowed by the monster jackpot in Powerball, or other (mundane) reasons, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

This Specific Order has also played in 4.05% of the 74 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.83% of all 360 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the 0 0 3 1 1 1 Specific Order played February 16, 2019.

Two repeating Three-Number Combinations gave Powerball an extra boost:

This Wednesday marks the official start of spring. Powerball’s prize is currently $550 million, but there’s a good chance it’ll climb again before the actual playdate. This is something to keep an eye on. On a lighter note, will either the {3-2-1} or {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

The Ides of Mega Millions

You know the Ides of March by a more familiar name: March 15th. History (and Shakespearean) buffs will know this as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated. More recently, it was the day that Muslims were murdered during Friday prayer in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Please keep the victims’ families in your thoughts.

March 15th is a day with a gruesome history. Not so for Mega Millions, fortunately. Friday night was fruitful for repeating Three-Number Combinations. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot is now $45 million, and all this was thanks to a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore with winning numbers 3, 29, 56, 62, 64, and MB 4. This Pattern has now played 195 times.

The {2-1-1-1-1}: like a boomerang. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Of the 445 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.8% of the time. Remember; this Pattern played March 12, 2019.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 45th appearance and has now played in 23.1% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 445 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 10.1% of the time.

Now with sixteen appearances, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 35.6% of the 45 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.25% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 3.60% of all 445 drawings.

Both the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order and the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order played February 1, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore were four repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 3, 29, 64 (Debuted February 3, 2017)
  • 29, 56, MB 4 (Debuted November 25, 2014)
  • 56, 62, 64 (Debuted January 7, 2014)
  • 3, 64, MB 4 (Debuted September 25, 2015)

History points to the jackpot climbing a bit before being claimed, but this past Tuesday showed that anything can happen. Still, considering that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore, one thing to keep an eye on going into Tuesday is whether there’s a three-peat. This Pattern is fond of streaks.

Springtime Lotto Rush

What a month it’s been so far! Since March started, we have yet to see anyone win the grand prize in either Lotto Texas or Powerball. And, after what happened March 13th, both prizes eluded lotto players all over.

Lotto Texas had a rowdy night, what with its Pattern encore and $10.25 million prize. Powerball, meanwhile, continued onward with its jackpot high, with a prize now at a staggering $495 million!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Fresh from this past Saturday’s drawing, the {4-2} Pattern came back for an encore. The 177th appearance of this Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 2, 6, 37, 42, 50, and 53.

Of the 1637 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time.

Now with 22 appearances, the 2 0 4 Specific Order has played in 12.4% of the 177 drawings where {4-2} was the winning Pattern and in 1.34% of all 1637 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 2 0 4 Specific Order played May 3, 2017.

Four-Number Combinations

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Apparently, Lotto Texas thought the Pattern encore was enough.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 18, 36, 45, 47, 69, and PB 14, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 130th appearance.

Of the 359 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 36.2% of the time and was last seen March 6, 2019.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order, now with 23 appearances, has played in 17.7% of the 130 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 6.41% of all 359 drawings. We last saw the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order on December 29, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in roughly 13% of the 23 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.31% of the 130 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.84% of all 359 drawings. The 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order was last seen April 8, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball will most certainly get past that half-billion-dollar threshold going into Saturday’s drawing. Lotto Texas kept its momentum going with a {4-2} Pattern encore and although a {4-2} Pattern three-peat isn’t likely, stranger things have happened. Will anyone walk away with either of the grand prizes or will the lotteries continue their jackpot highs?

Show Me the $50 Million

Well, this was unexpected!

For the past few months, Mega Millions has been following this routine:

  1. Reach crazy-large jackpot.
  2. Someone wins crazy-large jackpot and prize gets knocked down to $40 million.
  3. Repeat step 1.

Would you believe that the prize got knocked back down to $40 million already?

“Show me!” you say?

Well sir (or ma’am), it turns out that the sole winner of the March 12th, 2019 Mega Millions jackpot hailed from Missouri! And, to satisfy those from the Show Me State, both figuratively and literally, here’s the rundown.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 12, 16, 49, 57, and MB 18, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 194th appearance.

Given the 444 Mega Millions drawings so far, this Pattern has played 43.7% of the time.

The [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made its 53rd appearance and has now played in 27.3% of the 194 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 444 drawings are taken into consideration, this General Order has played 11.9% of the time.

Both the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order played February 19th, 2019.

Now with eight appearances, the 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 15.1% of the 53 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4.12% of the 194 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.80% of all 444 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order played May 1st, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination was 12, 57, and MB 18.

This Combination made its debut November 27th, 2018.

No need to worry about a crazy-large jackpot this Friday night. There is, however, the matter of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and it loves making encores. Is an encore in the cards?

Lotto Texas and Powerball in “Spring Fever”

In our last Lotto Texas/Powerball analysis, we covered a night filled with reservation and solitude. The biggest event of the evening was a similar spread in Lotto Texas.

March 9th was a complete turnaround! Saturday night was grand for fans of repeating Combinations, both the Three and Four-Number kind. When it came to jackpots, Powerball was king. The prize is now a whopping $448 million! Lotto Texas, ever so classy, was no slouch, either. Its prize is a hardy $9.75 million.

This Combination made its debut May 12, 2018.

Spring is about new beginnings, and in this case, insanely large jackpots. Powerball is eager to take the new season by the horns with its nearly half-billion-dollar prize. As the jackpot seems to do in times like this, it’ll most likely be at that half-billion-dollar point, if not close. That’ll be something to keep an eye on heading into Wednesday night.

Lotto Texas will continue to remain classy. As it’s not one to get bit by the crazy-large jackpot bug, we’ll need to keep an eye out for more repeating Four-Number Combinations. Who knows? Maybe another similar spread is waiting in the wings?

Springing Towards an Encore

Spring is right around the corner, or at least that’s what the calendar shows. Whether you’re already fighting mosquitoes or bracing for another cold snap, one thing for certain is that Daylight Savings is this weekend*. Warm(er) weather and 9:00 sunsets will be here before we know it!

*Not applicable in Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the US Virgin Islands, and much of Arizona. For the curious, a full of list of places that don’t observe Daylight Savings can be found here.

To kick off the weekend, the March 8th, 2019 Mega Millions drawing gifted us with an encore. With no grand prize winners, the jackpot leapt to $50 million.

General Lottery Analysis

From the Ashes

March 6th was Ash Wednesday. For practicing Catholics, it was the first day of Lent, a time of fasting, prayer, and repentance. For everyone else, it marked another Mardi Gras come and gone. Regardless of what you practice, Wednesday was a reserved night for Lotto Texas and Powerball.

Except for the similar spread in Lotto Texas and the rampaging beast of a jackpot in Powerball. With no one to claim the grand prize for either lottery, their respective grand prizes are now a cool $9.25 million and a staggering $414 million.

Other than those, quiet night. Totally.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 8, 15, 24, 27, 34, and 43, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 863rd appearance.

Similar Spread

Before we continue, a little refresher. A similar spread occurs when the difference between the numbers in two drawings are the same, but orders of said numbers are different.

Wednesday’s night spread was 07:09:03:07:09. This spread was similar to the one  seen on March 7, 2018. That night, the spread was 07:09:07:09:03 and the winning numbers were 9, 16, 25, 32, 41, and 44. Can you believe that these similar spreads appeared 52 weeks apart?

Four-Number Combinations

Repeating Four-Number Combinations took a backseat. The {3-2-1} Pattern thought having a similar spread was enough showing off for one night.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 129th appearance with winning numbers 6, 10, 21, 35, 46, and PB 23.

We last saw the 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order on January 30, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.

With no Pattern streaks in either lottery, there could be either a Pattern encore or something completely unexpected. We’re also looking at a beast of a jackpot for Powerball heading into Saturday’s drawing. Will someone catch the beast, or will it evade capture?

A Playback for Mardi Gras

March for Mega Millions has been anything but quiet so far. This past Friday saw someone become $273 million richer (pre-tax). For March 5, 2019, on a party day that gives New Year’s Eve a run for its money, we saw…a playback!

The grand prize will take a while to climb back up. For now, a respectable $45 million is up for grabs Friday.

The Onward March of Lotto Texas & Powerball

With a saying like, “In like a lion and out like a lamb”, you’d expect either Lotto Texas or Powerball to start their March runs guns blazing. Nothing like a Pattern streak or a playback to start the month off, right?

The lotteries kicked off the month with a powerful start, but not of the “In your face” variety. March 2nd saw a Pattern encore for Lotto Texas and Powerball’s jackpot is a beast, now towering at $381 million. Meanwhile, Lotto Texas kept a cool head; its grand prize is now $8.5 million.

For those of you out there who wanted a more robust start, keep in mind that March has just begun. Powerball’s prize is a force to be reckoned with, and it will be caught one day. Question is, will it be next week or closer to the end of the month? And what about Lotto Texas’s {4-1-1} Pattern: Is a Pattern streak in the cards?
