Leaping, Bounding and Holding Strong

To our readers, especially our U.S. readers: The COVID-19 pandemic is NOT a hoax. States have halted reopening phases and countries are talking about banning (not quarantining, banning) U.S. travelers. If you want everything to go back to “normal”, then stop throwing tantrums, put on your big boy pants and wear a mask and practice social distancing. Stay home if you can. You can’t play the lottery if you’re dead.

Compared to humans, lotteries are uninhibited. They can go out and about without worrying about the things that ail us.

And on June 24, 2020, the lotteries held strong. Lotto Texas continued to go steady with the {3-2-1} Pattern and its jackpot graciously climbed to $23.25 million. Powerball grew by leaps and bounds, seeing a boost from $33 million to $42 million.

Sticking with What Mega Millions Knows

Mega Millions learned a Very Important Lesson ™ in being itself June 19, 2020. Rather than borrow from Lotto Texas, it decided to stick with what it knew. Instead of a {3-2-1} Pattern three-peat, this lottery returned to its most commonly seen Pattern: {2-1-1-1-1}. And it wasn’t just the appearance of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern that sent the jackpot to $35 million!

With Mega Millions returning to its roots, so to speak, will it stick with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern for the rest of the month?

The Fashionable {3-2-1} Pattern

The {3-2-1} Pattern is popular in Lotto Texas; it wouldn’t be the most commonly seen Pattern otherwise! But, did you know that this Pattern is also popular with both Mega Millions and Powerball?

Truthfully, the Pattern isn’t as prevalent in those lotteries. However, it made an (encore) appearance in Mega Millions this past Tuesday, and it showed up in both Lotto Texas and Powerball June 17, 2020. The {3-2-1} Pattern not only proved popular for all three lotteries so far this week, it had jackpot boosting powers! Lotto Texas stood strong with a boost to $22 million. Powerball did a happy dance as its jackpot grew to $25 million.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern retain its popularity with Lotto Texas and Powerball Saturday night?

The Fight for Dominance

Today’s title isn’t something you’d expect for a Lottery Binge post. But you see, things haven’t been exactly “normal” in the lottery world these past few weeks. We had a lottery that’s known for its respectability (rhymes with “Potto Lexus”) become the one with the largest jackpot. In fact, this past Saturday saw its jackpot rise (again!) to $21.25 million. Powerball, determined to not have its jackpot won so easily, pulled itself back up. With no one able to pick all six numbers, the jackpot rose to $22 million.

With Powerball on top, it appears that the “rightful” order has been restored. As we head into another week of lottery madness, will Powerball get past $22 million this time? Will the Lotto Texas jackpot keep climbing?

The Twisted Jackpot Tale

For the longest time, Lotto Texas was the “respectable” lottery. While Mega Millions and Powerball flirted with monstrously large jackpots from time to time, Lotto Texas never dared to go that high.

Sometime over the past few months, it developed an attitude shift. We’re not sure when this change in personality occurred, but June 6, 2020 was another night that the Lotto Texas jackpot resisted a takedown. As a result, it climbed to $20.75 million.

Powerball’s reset point isn’t as high as it once was. Whether that caused a boost in Lotto Texas’s confidence remains to be seen. Regardless, a prize that bumped up to $22 million is plenty to start that (early) retirement nest egg!

The Jackpot Cornucopia

Lotto Texas and Powerball made it to the end of May. If you were itching for Pattern encores for May 30, 2020, then there were none to be had. Instead, something grander occurred. The jackpots for both lotteries rose once more! A $18.75 million prize in Lotto Texas and a $135 million prize in Powerball were nothing to sneeze at.

Will the Lotto Texas and Powerball jackpots reach monstrous levels in June, or will at least one of them be brought down to size?

The Iron Grip of the {3-2-1} Pattern

The {3-2-1} Pattern reigned supreme May 23, 2020. There was, in fact, a {3-2-1} Pattern three-peat in Lotto Texas. However, that wasn’t enough to satiate this Pattern’s appetite. That’s right: the {3-2-1} Pattern also showed up in Powerball! A Pattern’s double appearance did nothing to bring the jackpots down. If anything, that made them grow even more! Lotto Texas grew to $17.5 million and Powerball ballooned to $114 million.

The Grand {3-2-1} Pattern Encore

So, the {3-2-1} Pattern made an encore in Lotto Texas. Big deal. Why yes, it was a big deal!

The {3-2-1} Pattern encore of May 20, 2020 solidified this Pattern as the King of Lotto Texas. Furthermore, this encore produced a repeating Five-Number Combination (and all that it implies) and fueled this lottery’s love of a growing jackpot. This normally unassuming lottery saw its grand prize rise to $17.25 million.

Powerball didn’t ruffle any feathers. However, it too saw its jackpot climb, reaching $104 million.

Lotto Texas and Powerball Get Out and Go

It’s that time of year again! Summer is right around the corner, and with all that’s happened these past few months, everyone is itching to get back to some sense of “normalcy”. The easing of stay-at-home orders is scratching that itch, and what went down May 16, 2020 showed that humans weren’t the only ones who can’t bear to be cooped up for long!

Lotto Texas and Powerball put on their masks and went out and about. All that pent-up energy led to one lottery coming this close to seeing a playback, while another saw a Pattern encore and a similar spread. There were no grand prize winners produced in this madness, and the jackpots climbed once again. Lotto Texas’s jackpot rose to $16.25 million while Powerball’s jumped to $95 million.

Similar Spread

Saturday’s numbers had the spread of 15:14:02:01:03. This spread is similar to the one that was seen almost seven years ago in the June 8, 2013 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 14, 28, 29, 44, 46 and 49. The spread was 14:01:15:02:03.

It’s best to remember that when dealing with similar spreads that despite the differences between played numbers being the same, the order in which the numbers played on those nights was different.

With no one able to pick the six winning numbers in either Lotto Texas or Powerball, their respective jackpots rose to $16 million and $86 million.
