We Have Mega Millions in 3-2-1…

October is almost over it looks like the Mega Millions jackpot will not be beastly. For all those who were looking forward to going after a billion-dollar jackpot, we’re sorry to disappoint. However, there is $93 million now up for grabs, and we know you’re not going to turn your noses up at that!

General Lottery Analysis

The jackpot rise that resulted from the October 22, 2019 drawing was thanks to yet another uncommon Pattern: {3-2-1}. With winning numbers 5, 11, 14, 23, 25, and MB 10, this Pattern has played 22 times.

Given that there have now been 508 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 4.33% of the time.

The [3-2-1] General Order, now with 12 appearances, has played in 54.5% of the 22 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 508 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 2.36% of the time.

Prior to Tuesday night, both the {3-2-1} Pattern and [3-2-1] General Order played August 30, 2019.

Now with two appearances, the 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 16.7% of the 12 drawings where the General Order was [3-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 9.09% of the 22 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.39% of all 508 drawings. The 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order was first seen June 2, 2015.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Accompanying this uncommon Pattern was Three-Number Combination 11, 23, and MB 10.

This Combination debuted in the February 7, 2014 drawing.

Who says you need a crazy-large jackpot to end the month with a bang? There’s about one week left. What if {3-2-1} did something unexpected with a three-peat?

A Lucky Night for {4-1-1}

Friday night: The gateway to the weekend. From football to eating out to binge watching, there are activities for everyone! For those of you out there in Internet Land who want to retire early (who doesn’t?!), there’s Mega Millions, ready to greet you with robust jackpots. Why, every now and then, the jackpot is beastly.

Whether a taunt or a blessing in disguise, the prize couldn’t be claimed by anyone. The October 18, 2019 drawing led to the jackpot rising to $82 million, all thanks to an appearance from the {4-1-1} Pattern.

General Lottery Analysis

As luck would have it, the {4-1-1} Pattern made its 13th appearance with 18, 58, 60, 65, 67, and MB 20.

This Pattern has now played in 2.56% of the 507 Mega Millions drawings.

The [1-4-1] General Order, now with seven appearances, has played in 53.8% of the 13 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 507 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 1.38% of the time.

Both the {4-1-1} Pattern and [1-4-1] General Order were last seen in the September 10, 2019 drawing.

Now with two appearances, the 0 1 0 0 4 1 Specific Order has played in 28.6% of the seven drawings where the General Order was [1-4-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 15.4% of the 13 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.39% of all 507 drawings. The 0 1 0 0 4 1 Specific Order was first seen in the October 6, 2015 drawing, reconstructed from the 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Friday night.

With an uncommonly seen Pattern making the rounds Friday night, it would truly be something if it comes back for an encore Tuesday night! Encore or no, we’ll have to see if the jackpot will continue to rise, or will it be brought down to size.

Mega Millions’ (Almost) Playback Special

We’re halfway through October and you know what means: An almost playback!

Huh? How do you have an almost playback? By having the Pattern and General Order share a date when they last appeared together, of course! At least, that’s what happened in the October 15, 2019 Mega Millions drawing. The fallout was a jackpot jump to $71 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 93rd appearance with 4, 12, 14, 35, 70, and MB 2.

This Pattern has now played in 18.4% of the 506 Mega Millions drawings.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order, now with 35 appearances, has played in 37.6% of the 93 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 506 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 37.6% of the time.

Prior to Tuesday night, both the {3-1-1-1} Pattern and the [3-1-1-1] General Order played October 8th, 2019.

A “full playback” didn’t come about for a good reason. Tuesday night saw the debut of the 3 0 1 0 1 1 Specific Order! With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 2.86% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [3-1-1-1]. Additionally, it has played in 1.08% of the 93 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.20% of all 506 drawings.

There were also three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 12, 14, MB 2 (Debuted December 20th, 2016)

Last year saw a monster jackpot unleashed around Halloween. Although the odds of it happening again this year are unlikely, will Mega Millions dare to dream big?

Mega Millions’ Friday Night Escape

The thermometer readings went down and Mega Millions followed suit with its own cool down. The October 11th, 2019 drawing is the quietest we’ve seen in a while. It during this period of “solitude” that the grand prize shipped from the players’ grasp. Naturally, the jackpot rose to $65 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 14, 22, 30, 37, 60, and MB 8, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 225th appearance.

Given that there have been 505 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 44.6% of the time.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order, now with 62 appearances, has played in 27.6% of the 225 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 505 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 12.3% of the time.

Prior to Friday night, both the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order played October 4th, 2019.

Now with 13 appearances, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 21% of the 62 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.78% of the 225 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.57% of all 505 drawings. The 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the October 1st, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

To preserve the theme of cooling off, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Things may be cooler lottery-wise but that doesn’t mean it’ll stay that way. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern did play after all, and that Pattern is known for encores. We’ll have to wait and see if that encore comes through Tuesday night or if Mega Millions has other plans.

Sixty Million Degrees

“It’s sixty million degrees outside!”

This, or something like this, is the rallying whine of summer, soon to be a distant memory (for some of us). Even though the temperatures are set to drop, Mega Millions is operating on a different level. Nothing about a jackpot increase to $60 million says this lottery is ready to cool down!

General Lottery Analysis

October 8, 2019 saw the 92nd appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern with winning numbers 5, 8, 10, 17, 48, and MB 23.

This Specific Order has also played in 3.26% of the 92 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.60% of all 504 drawings. Will Mega Millions keep it hot Friday night or will it kick off the weekend with a cool down?

The First Week Streak

A Pattern streak was confirmed in Mega Millions! The October 4, 2019 drawing saw the fourth consecutive appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Friday’s streak kept {2-1-1-1-1} the most commonly played Mega Millions Pattern and grew the pot. With no one able to pick all six numbers, the prize increased to $55 million.

Now with 16 appearances, the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 26.2% of the 61 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. The October Slide

It’s that time of year again! The days are getting shorter and (hopefully) cooler, pumpkin spice lattes aren’t so awkward, and the kids (and kids at heart) are making plans for Halloween.

It’s time for Inktober!

Wait a minute! Isn’t this a lottery blog? Well, yeah, but let me do something shameless for a moment. First, some context.

Inktober is when artists from around the world post drawings done in ink on their websites or social media. There’s a prompt (link) but you can draw your own thing. You can draw every day or every other day, whatever’s comfortable for you.  From hobbyists to professionals, anyone can post, all in the name of sharing, improving, and good fun.

I, uh, ahem, drew something for the occasion. The first day’s theme was “Ring”.

If you follow on Twitter, you didn’t see the whole thing.

I’m not a professional by any means, but boy does drawing take a load off! If there’s anything I learned from trying to post to Twitter yesterday, it’s this:

  1. Don’t post a few minutes before midnight
  2. The crop tool is not my friend (draw landscape?)
  3. Instagram would be probably be better. I’ll keep y’all posted on when that becomes available.

Today’s theme is “Mindless” but after a long workday, I’m (mostly) out of mind.

(This concludes the shameless plug. We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog post.)

Mega Millions kicked off the October lottery rush with a Pattern three-peat. The first of the month didn’t bring any grand prize winners. This caused the jackpot to climb to $50 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat was made possible by 10, 17, 39, 42, 59, and MB 3. This Pattern has now played 223 times.

Given that there have been 502 drawings, this Pattern has now played 44.4% of the time. Recall that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was last seen September 27, 2019.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order, now with 60 appearances, has played in 26.9% of the 223 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 502 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 12% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order played August 13, 2019.

Now with 12 appearances, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 20% of the 60 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.38% of the 223 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.39% of all 502 drawings. We last saw the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order January 25, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, Mega Millions had to bring along a trio of repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Will this year’s October Mega Millions harbor a beastly jackpot, or will it take a quieter path?

September Encore Finale: Mega Millions Edition

September has come and gone for Mega Millions. A milestone had been achieved, a massive jackpot had been won, and the month didn’t end with a Pattern streak. But, the night of September 27th, 2019 was anything but a snooze. Even though there was no streak, there was an encore, and that pushed the jackpot to $45 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore was made possible by 12, 20, 31, 43, 45, and MB 20. This Pattern has now played 222 times.

Mega Millions will continue to recuperate as we head into October. Right now, a monster jackpot doesn’t seem likely but it’s early yet. We had a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore, after all. Who’s to say that we won’t start the month with a three-peat?

500 Things to Do on a Tuesday

September 24, 2019 was a milestone for Mega Millions. The first drawing of the autumn season was not only the 500th drawing, somebody won! Would you believe that the lone winner of the $227 million jackpot hailed from The Lone Star State? Unintentional wordplay aside, the jackpot reset to $40 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 221st appearance with 6, 14, 24, 42, 46, and MB 9.

This Pattern has played 44.2% of the time and was last seen September 13, 2019.

Although the grand prize has been won, that doesn’t necessarily mean a quiet night is in store for Friday! Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore?

The Mega Millions Guide to Raising a Jackpot

Another summer came and went with the September 20, 2019 Mega Millions drawing. However, this lottery wasn’t ready to embrace autumn! Instead of cheering on the shorter days and (eventual) cooler weather on the horizon, it held strong on the crazy-large jackpot front. What all did Mega Millions do to launch its grand prize towards $227 million?

General Lottery Analysis

Instead of an Australia Play encore, Mega Millions decided that having the {2-2-1-1} Pattern play for the 139th time was in order. The winning numbers were 23, 24, 42, 48, 53, and MB 22.

An encore was *not* in the cards! Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Specific Order has also played in 3.60% of the 139 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 1% of all 499 drawings. The 0 2 1 2 0 1 Specific Order was last seen October 27, 2017.

This Combination debuted in the February 8, 2019 drawing.

Three things to keep in mind as September begins to wind down:

  1. There’s a jackpot close to being worth a quarter of a billion dollars
  2. There are two drawings left for the month
  3. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern is the second-most common Pattern for a reason.

Will Mega Millions stay on board the crazy-high jackpot train, and with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore?
