Why, Whatever “Four”?

That time of year is almost here. A time of treats, trickery, turkey, and bright decorations. That’s right: “Hallowthankmas” is upon us! While people scramble to find the best deals, what do lotteries do to prepare for this cherished time?

If you were Lotto Texas or Powerball on October 21, 2020, then you fell in love with the number 4. Well, repeating Four-Number Combinations, anyway. Yes, Powerball got in on the repeating Four-Number Combination action and believe it or not, one of its “babies” is a repeating Three-Number Combination that played for the fourth time! This love of repeating Four-Number Combinations paid off for the lotteries. Lotto Texas jumped to $6.5 million and Powerball crossed over the $100 million line; $102 million became the prize.

Three-Number Combinations

Naturally, a repeating Four-Number Combination births four repeating Three-Number Combinations. One Combination, 1, 3, and 13, has done this three times before, and all in the same year no less! This Combination actually debuted in the January 11, 2017 drawing. Subsequent appearances were October 11, 2017 and December 23, 2017.

The other repeating Three-Number Combinations made their debut in the December 23, 2017 drawing:

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to show their love for repeating Four-Number Combinations Saturday night or will they step back?

On the Edge of $100 Million

One week has passed since Mega Millions saw a Combination explosion. The explosion was powerful enough that the drawing after was more civil. That civility paid off, for the jackpot saw a boost. Mega Millions stuck with the civil approach this past Tuesday and was rewarded with a prize that grew to $97 million.

Will Mega Millions make it past the $100 million threshold Friday night?

Lotto Texas: “I’m Still Relevant!”

Lotto Texas has a smaller jackpot than everyone else, true. That, however, has no effect on which Pattern is thrown to the masses. Or does it?

For a while, Lotto Texas was the one on top. And, although it has come to terms with the current situation, there’s nothing like the thrill of having the highest jackpot, a feeling that both Mega Millions and Powerball take for granted.

October 10, 2020 was a night in which Lotto Texas tried to recreate that feeling. Oh, the jackpot wasn’t going to magically boost to $50 million, but a boost, any boost, would be sufficient.  The players be gifted with another showing of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Additional shenanigans with repeating Four-Number Combinations helped push the jackpot to $5.75 million.

Powerball was the calm one Saturday night. Unlike the frantic nature of that “uppity” lottery, Powerball exercised poise and grace. That paid off, for the jackpot got a hefty boost to $72 million.

Despite being in separate “classes”, Lotto Texas and Powerball opted to play their most commonly seen Patterns this week. Both the {3-2-1} and the {2-1-1-1-1} Patterns are known for Pattern streaks, one method they employ to stay on top! Will these Pattern streaks surface next week?

Bouncing Around and Dragging Along

October 7, 2020 was a night of contrasts to be sure! Both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their jackpots rise, but they took vastly different approaches. Although still sore, Lotto Texas made peace with the fact that it’ll take longer to reach $47 million again and lived with a jackpot that inched up to $5.5 million. Powerball, on the other hand, was passing out repeating Three-Number Combinations like they were candy! The jackpot over there saw a huge increase from $52 million to $62 million.

As the lotteries continue to settle into the “natural” order of things again, it hasn’t escaped anyone’s attention that both of them played their most commonly seen Patterns. The {3-2-1} Pattern and the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern are both notorious for producing Pattern streaks! Is such a streak on the horizon for at least one lottery?

The Grand Jackpot Rift

‘Tis better to have been at the top and lost it, than to have never been at the top at all. At least, that’s the conclusion Lotto Texas came to after all that’s happened over the past 8.5 months. The road to $47 million will be an arduous one, though this past Saturday night was a step in the right direction. With no one matching the six winning numbers, the prize inched up to $5.25 million.

Powerball had reason to be excited. Lotto Texas was forced to reset, and the jackpot leapt from $43 million to $52 million.

Will the jackpots for both Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to rise next week?

At the Top and Twice as Much

Lotto Texas was in a world of its own. Powerball was forced to reset, and Lotto Texas was now on top. And, after what happened September 19, 2020, it extended its stay until at least the next drawing. The players failed once more to match all six numbers. Rather than go all out, a sliver of that old-time Lotto Texas respectability shone through. The jackpot rose to “just” $44 million.

Powerball began the task of rebuilding its clout. Things got off to a nice start, for players there failed to match all the numbers as well. In fact, $22 million isn’t a bad prize. Although, it was a reminder to Powerball that Lotto Texas had a jackpot now worth twice as much. A bitter pill to swallow for a lottery notorious for monster-sized jackpots, to be sure.

Three-Number Combinations

A couple of repeating Three-Number Combinations got caught up in the shuffle:

Repeating Three-Number Combos make everything better. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Neither Mega Millions nor Powerball are strangers to being the ones on top, but for Lotto Texas, it’s a wondrous, yet terrifying experience. Staying on top can either be long-lasting, or short-lived. And, Lotto Texas hasn’t forgotten that when the time comes for its reset, the climb back to the top will be much harder and much longer. Will it be able to hold off the reset for at least another drawing?

The Uppity Lottery

Mega Millions lost some of its clout this past Tuesday night, and one lottery endured the same fate. Lotto Texas, known for being meek and respectable, became more confident as 2020 rolled on. Some would say that the lil ol’ lottery from down South got uppity. Well, if you were expecting the return of respectable Lotto Texas…it did not return. On September 16, 2020, that “uppity” lottery had its jackpot rise to $42.75 million!

What happened to Powerball? Well, Powerball got knocked in the head by an Empire (State) apple and when it woke up, had only $20 million remaining. At least Mega Millions gained a grumbling partner.

Three-Number Combinations

Powerball’s bruised ego didn’t allow for repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas reigns supreme but deep down, it knows this moment won’t last forever. Mega Millions and Powerball will relish the day when the “uppity” lottery is put back in its place. Will Saturday night give Lotto Texas more time at the top?

The Greatest Flattery

In a chaotic world that appears to be growing ever more chaotic, humans evolved a little something they like to call “escapism”. Something to make them forget about the pain, suffering, and needless tedium in their lives. Let’s delve into a little bit of that escapism and look at the continuing strife between Lotto Texas and Powerball. In the case of the former, nothing else mattered in its quest to remain in the good graces of lottery high society.

The night of August 29, 2020 saw these lotteries imitate one another. Not only did they both play their most commonly seen Patterns, these were encores! Lotto Texas was rewarded with a jackpot that rose to $36.75 million, and Powerball rose to $56 million.

Still, the question remains: Who imitated whom?

As it is in the human world, it’s difficult to attain clout. What took months to achieve a dream for Lotto Texas can easily be undone in the next drawing. And Powerball, though it always had a “higher” starting position, isn’t immune, either. Will both lotteries continue their climb at the start of September, or will at least one of them fall?

A Lottery’s Grit and Determination

Hurricane Laura made landfall on the Gulf Coast of the United States early this morning, leaving a path of devastation. Although Lottery Trend headquarters dodged a bullet, our neighbors to the east did not. Please keep those affected by Laura in your thoughts and, if you can, donate.

Lotto Texas is loving the clout, the high life, even, and it wasn’t going to give that up easily. Playing safe with a {3-2-1} Pattern encore reaped big rewards! The jackpot rose to $36 million, and Lotto Texas got to extend its stay in the club.

Powerball, meanwhile, quietly rose to $47 million. It could rest easy knowing an $11 million gap existed between it and Lotto Texas.

Lotto Texas remains in the good graces of lottery high society, but for how long?

The Closing Jackpot Gap

Not much separates the value of the Powerball and Lotto Texas jackpots. Currently, Mega Millions has the most clout, and although they both have a way to go before reaching that height, a race to be Number Two may be underway soon.

On August 22, 2020, the gap between “established” Powerball and “new money” Lotto Texas narrowed. With neither lottery seeing a grand prize winner, their jackpots increased. Lotto Texas ascended to $34.75 million and Powerball ascended to $37 million.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball, flustered by that “uppity” Lotto Texas, had no repeating Three-Number Combinations to accompany it.

At least one of these things will happen Wednesday night: Lotto Texas continues to close in on Powerball, or Lotto Texas takes the Number Two spot as Powerball resets. Perhaps in their bout of social climbing, they take each other down? Powerball would certainly be Number Two then, what with Lotto Texas’s reset value being $5 million, while it would sit comfortably at $20 million. We’ll just have to wait until Wednesday night and see!
