The Ides of Mega Millions

You know the Ides of March by a more familiar name: March 15th. History (and Shakespearean) buffs will know this as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated. More recently, it was the day that Muslims were murdered during Friday prayer in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Please keep the victims’ families in your thoughts.

March 15th is a day with a gruesome history. Not so for Mega Millions, fortunately. Friday night was fruitful for repeating Three-Number Combinations. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot is now $45 million, and all this was thanks to a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore with winning numbers 3, 29, 56, 62, 64, and MB 4. This Pattern has now played 195 times.

Of the 445 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.8% of the time. Remember; this Pattern played March 12, 2019.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 45th appearance and has now played in 23.1% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 445 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 10.1% of the time.

Now with sixteen appearances, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 35.6% of the 45 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.25% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 3.60% of all 445 drawings.

Both the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order and the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order played February 1, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore were four repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 3, 29, 64 (Debuted February 3, 2017)
  • 29, 56, MB 4 (Debuted November 25, 2014)
  • 56, 62, 64 (Debuted January 7, 2014)
  • 3, 64, MB 4 (Debuted September 25, 2015)

History points to the jackpot climbing a bit before being claimed, but this past Tuesday showed that anything can happen. Still, considering that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore, one thing to keep an eye on going into Tuesday is whether there’s a three-peat. This Pattern is fond of streaks.

Springtime Lotto Rush

What a month it’s been so far! Since March started, we have yet to see anyone win the grand prize in either Lotto Texas or Powerball. And, after what happened March 13th, both prizes eluded lotto players all over.

Lotto Texas had a rowdy night, what with its Pattern encore and $10.25 million prize. Powerball, meanwhile, continued onward with its jackpot high, with a prize now at a staggering $495 million!

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Fresh from this past Saturday’s drawing, the {4-2} Pattern came back for an encore. The 177th appearance of this Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 2, 6, 37, 42, 50, and 53.

Of the 1637 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 10.8% of the time.

Now with 22 appearances, the 2 0 4 Specific Order has played in 12.4% of the 177 drawings where {4-2} was the winning Pattern and in 1.34% of all 1637 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 2 0 4 Specific Order played May 3, 2017.

Four-Number Combinations

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Apparently, Lotto Texas thought the Pattern encore was enough.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 18, 36, 45, 47, 69, and PB 14, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 130th appearance.

Of the 359 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 36.2% of the time and was last seen March 6, 2019.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order, now with 23 appearances, has played in 17.7% of the 130 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 6.41% of all 359 drawings. We last saw the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order on December 29, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in roughly 13% of the 23 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.31% of the 130 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.84% of all 359 drawings. The 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order was last seen April 8, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination, 45, 47, and 69, made its debut August 22, 2018.

A little something extra. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Powerball will most certainly get past that half-billion-dollar threshold going into Saturday’s drawing. Lotto Texas kept its momentum going with a {4-2} Pattern encore and although a {4-2} Pattern three-peat isn’t likely, stranger things have happened. Will anyone walk away with either of the grand prizes or will the lotteries continue their jackpot highs?

From the Ashes

March 6th was Ash Wednesday. For practicing Catholics, it was the first day of Lent, a time of fasting, prayer, and repentance. For everyone else, it marked another Mardi Gras come and gone. Regardless of what you practice, Wednesday was a reserved night for Lotto Texas and Powerball.

Except for the similar spread in Lotto Texas and the rampaging beast of a jackpot in Powerball. With no one to claim the grand prize for either lottery, their respective grand prizes are now a cool $9.25 million and a staggering $414 million.

Other than those, quiet night. Totally.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 8, 15, 24, 27, 34, and 43, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 863rd appearance.

Of the 1635 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has now played 52.8% of the time and was last seen February 23, 2019.

Now with 140 appearances, the 2 3 1 Specific Order has played in 16.2% of the 863 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 8.56% of all 1635 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 2 3 1 Specific Order played January 12, 2019.

Similar Spread

Before we continue, a little refresher. A similar spread occurs when the difference between the numbers in two drawings are the same, but orders of said numbers are different.

Wednesday’s night spread was 07:09:03:07:09. This spread was similar to the one  seen on March 7, 2018. That night, the spread was 07:09:07:09:03 and the winning numbers were 9, 16, 25, 32, 41, and 44. Can you believe that these similar spreads appeared 52 weeks apart?

Four-Number Combinations

Repeating Four-Number Combinations took a backseat. The {3-2-1} Pattern thought having a similar spread was enough showing off for one night.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 129th appearance with winning numbers 6, 10, 21, 35, 46, and PB 23.

Given that there have been 357 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 36.1% of the time and was last seen February 27, 2019.

The [2-1-1-1-1] General Order made its 36th appearance and has now played in 27.9% of the 129 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 357 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 10.1% of the time. Prior to Wednesday night, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order played February 6, 2019.

Now with nine appearances, the 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 36 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 6.98% of the 129 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.52% of all 357 drawings. We last saw the 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order on January 30, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.

With no Pattern streaks in either lottery, there could be either a Pattern encore or something completely unexpected. We’re also looking at a beast of a jackpot for Powerball heading into Saturday’s drawing. Will someone catch the beast, or will it evade capture?

A Streak-less End

February 27th was the last night for Lotto Texas and Powerball this month, and without a doubt, they ended the month with a roar! Wednesday night belonged to Powerball, what with its repeating Three-Number Combination frenzy and a prize now a staggering $348 million.

The ever-humble Lotto Texas broke it off with the {3-2-1} Pattern after five dates. But this (normally) unassuming lottery made sure Powerball didn’t have all the fun. In the meantime, the grand prize rose to a respectable $8.25 million.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Even though the Pattern streak for the {3-2-1} Pattern was broken, Lotto Texas made amends with a playback! With winning numbers 5, 10, 11, 14, 35, and 42, the {4-1-1} Pattern made its 176th appearance.

The {4-1-1} Pattern, both humble and lovable. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1633 Lotto Texas drawings, the {4-1-1} Pattern has played in 10.8% of them.

Now with 58 appearances, the 4 1 1 Specific Order has played in roughly 33% of the 176 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When all 1633 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.55% of the time.

Both the {4-1-1} Pattern and the 4 1 1 Specific Order played together in the December 5, 2018 drawing!

Before we move on to the repeating Four-Number Combination analysis, note that the above is not an Australia Play. The 4 1 1 Specific Order is not the only one that can play alongside the {4-1-1} Pattern. What makes an Australia Play unique in Lotto Texas is that there is only one Specific Order for a specific Pattern. That special Pattern and Specific Order are {2-2-2} and 2 2 2, respectively.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 34th appearance and has now played in roughly 26.6% of the 128 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.58% of all 355 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order played February 2, 2019.

Now with eight appearances, the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 23.5% of the 34 drawings where [1-2-1-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 6.25% of the 128 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 2.25% of all 355 drawings. We last saw the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order in the July 14, 2018 drawing.

Lotto Texas and Powerball look to be heading into March on a forceful note. There may not be any Pattern streaks, but there is a monstrously high jackpot and another jackpot that ain’t too shabby. Will Saturday night be a Combination frenzy night or will something else be in store?

Mega Millions Four by Four

So far this month, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appears to be the favorite.

The February 19, 2019 drawing did nothing to dissuade that notion. With its fourth consecutive appearance, this Pattern settled into a streak. With that streak, however, came no grand prize winners. The pot slowly, but steadily, rose to $224 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern four-peat was thanks to winning numbers 17, 24, 34, 56, 65, and MB 3. This Pattern has now played 193 times.

Now with 15 appearances, the 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 28.8% of the 52 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-1-1-1]. Once all 438 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order played 3.42% of the time. We last saw the 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order October 30, 2018.

Triple the Fun with {2-1-1-1-1}

What a difference a couple of days makes! The day before Valentine’s Day was serene, with Lotto Texas and Powerball wanting some alone time with their beaus. February 15th wasn’t like that for Mega Millions. Not only was there a three-peat for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, one of the Orders made an encore and there were some interesting developments with the repeating Three-Number Combinations as well! With no grand prize winner, the jackpot continued its slow climb into crazy-rich territory; it’s now $206 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat was thanks to winning numbers 10, 38, 40, 43, 65, and MB 12. This Pattern has now played 192 times.

Love is Around the Corner!

Hello, Lotterytrend Fans! This is guest blogger, Romulun Harris, giving you the latest lottery updates. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, romance blossoms in Megamillions as the most frequently played pattern plays Cupid to a Specific Order and General Order that last played on the same date, with a repeat in a Three-Number Combination providing the wedding bells. And now the details.

Mega Millions’ Friday Night Chill

The Pattern streak is a tried and true method for maintaining momentum across lotteries. Although Mega Millions’ Pattern streak ended earlier this week, other momentous plays include, but or not limited to, playbacks, Australia Plays, and of course, jackpots that extend beyond the stratosphere. Although the February 8, 2019 drawing saw neither of these, the grand prize did rise once more. With the jackpot now $173 million, it may not be much longer before Mega Millions is struck with “crazy-high jackpot fever”!

In the meantime, Mega Millions kept things low-key.

Having been “derailed” in this past Tuesday’s drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made a quick comeback. Will it try to reestablish a Pattern streak with an encore in Tuesday’s drawing?

For Pattern Streak Kicks

The theme of the evening for February 6th was “Pattern streak”. After an astounding six consecutive appearances, Lotto Texas’s {3-2-1} Pattern bowed out. Meanwhile, Powerball looked to be developing a streak with its {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern.

One commonality between the lotteries was the lack of a grand prize winner. Their respective prizes climbed to $6.75 million and $224 million.

February has just gotten started and the lotteries show no sign of letting winter get the better of them. Currently, the longest Pattern streak is indeed held by the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, with eight consecutive appearances. Will the Pattern tie the record and will Powerball’s {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern get a Pattern streak going Wednesday night?
