A “Four”-ceful Start

February: The last (full) month of winter. It being the shortest month of the year is a godsend for everyone waiting for the seasons to change!

Mega Millions sprang into the new month by taking a page from the Lotto Texas playbook. A solid Pattern streak emerged in the February 1st, 2019 drawing. With no grand prize winner, the prize rose once more to $139 million.

General Lottery Analysis

Like Lotto Texas, Mega Million’s most common Pattern is making its way through with a Pattern streak. With winning numbers 2, 37, 48, 66, 68, and MB 11, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played four times in a row!

This Pattern has played 189 times and with 433 Mega Millions drawings so far, it has played 43.6% of the time.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 44th appearance and has now played in 23.3% of the 189 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.2% of all 433 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order played January 22nd, 2019.

Now with fifteen appearances, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 34.1% of the 44 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 7.94% of the 189 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when all 433 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.46% of the time. We last saw the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order on March 20th, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Mega Millions also kicked off the month with three repeating Three-Number Combinations!

  • 37, 66, MB 11 (Debuted October 21st, 2014)
  • 2, 66, MB 11 (Debuted April 27th, 2018)
  • 2, 48, 68 (Debuted October 16th, 2015)

Whether Mega Millions will see a crazy-high jackpot anytime soon remains to be seen. Regardless, the lottery so far carries a lot of momentum. Will this continue with a {2-1-1-1-1} “five-peat” in Tuesday’s drawing?

The Six Lives of the {3-2-1} Pattern

January truly was the month of the {3-2-1} Pattern and the results of Wednesday’s Lotto Texas drawing fortified it. This (normally) unassuming little lottery, what with its now $6.25 million prize, played its most common Pattern for the sixth time in a row!

Although Powerball didn’t see a Pattern encore, it too saw its most common Pattern make a play. The jackpot increased to $191 million, which gave it a boost going into February.

General Lottery Analysis

The “six-timing” {3-2-1} Pattern made its 856th appearance with winning numbers 9, 20, 22, 28, 45, and 48.

With January now behind us, both Lotto Texas and Powerball are off to a strong start for February. Will the {3-2-1} Pattern momentum continue and could the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore Saturday night?

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Triple

The warming trend continued for Mega Millions in the January 29, 2019 drawing. Things heated up in the Lottery World with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat! That, and a grand prize now worth $129 million, gave Mega Millions a strong finish.

General Lottery Analysis

This Combination debuted in the October 29, 2013 drawing.

Mega Millions will be starting February with a fire in its belly. Will it continue to ramp things up with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern four-peat, or perhaps multiple repeating Three-Number Combinations?

Melting Through The Ice

According to meteorology, January 25th says winter, but Mega Millions said, “No more!” Having decided to no longer give in to the cold, it broke free of its icy prison Friday night. Things heated up with a Pattern encore.  With a grand prize now at $106 million, maybe it could help create a warming trend?

General Lottery Analysis

Fresh from Tuesday night, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance! With winning numbers 8, 16, 30, 38, 61, and MB 10, this Pattern has now played 187 times.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order made its 50th appearance and has now played in 26.7% of the 187 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 11.6% of all 431 drawings.

Now with eleven appearances, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 22% of the 50 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. Once all 431 drawings are taken into consideration, this Specific Order has played 2.55% of the time.

Once again, the General Order and Specific Order were joined at the hip! Both the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order were last seen in the January 8th, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

On the repeating Three-Number Combination side of things, there were two. These weren’t just any Combinations, though; they debuted almost to the day. Within three years of each other!

With a Pattern encore and a $100 million+ prize, Mega Millions looks primed to end the month with a warming streak. Will a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat clinch it Tuesday night?

Just Another Mega Millions Chill

There may only be a week left in January but getting through the rest of the month could be a slog! Winter has made itself at home in much of the (northern) U.S. and to dramatic effect.

Meanwhile, the January 22, 2019 Mega Millions drawing was like getting stuck in ice. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern streak ended before it could even start. That is, there was no Pattern encore and forget about an Australia Play or even a playback.

The one glowing ember was a $96 million jackpot, made possible by no grand prize winner.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 186th appearance with winning numbers 4, 15, 37, 59, 64, and MB 16.

This Specific Order has also played in 5.38% of the 186 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Three-Number Combination(s)

To commemorate the dead of winter, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

After the crazy-large jackpot that was claimed in the New Year’s Day drawing, January has been a quiet month for Mega Millions. Nevertheless, one must wonder if a Pattern streak or other “wild plays” are in the cards before the month draws to a close. If not, there is the matter of the General and Specific Orders being joined at the hip. Could the aftermath of Friday’s drawing reveal yet another shared past playdate?

Restoring the Powerball “Order”

Amazing how much difference a few days can make! Last time, it was Lotto Texas that claimed the night. On January 16th, 2019, things went back to “normal”. That is, Powerball once more became the dominant one. There were a couple of commonalities between them, however. One was rising jackpots. These prizes increased to $5.25 million for Lotto Texas and $129 million for Powerball. The other was Pattern encores.

Will either of these commonly seen Patterns go for the three-peat Saturday night?

Watch Out for the Quiet One

We’ve all been warned at some time or another to “Beware the quiet ones.” Based on our analysis, the resident “quiet one” is Lotto Texas. Although its prizes don’t achieve the monstrous sizes we’ve seen in Mega Millions and Powerball, it presents itself in a respectable manner. After all, claiming a $12.5 million prize is nothing to be down about.

January 12, 2019 was the night that, in an uncharacteristic moment, it was unrestrained. In fact, Lotto Texas ruled the night! There was more—far more—to Saturday night than someone winning. Describing it here in the introduction would be a grave injustice!

Keeping up with this flip-flopped scenario, Powerball was the one keeping to itself. Its prize rose to $112 million with little fanfare.

On the Eighth Day Was Calmness

January 8th marked exactly one week since 2019 started, and it just so happened to be a Mega Millions night. With no grand prize winner, the prize inched upwards to $50 million. Although it’ll be a while yet before a monster jackpot comes stomping through, Tuesday night was anything but uneventful.

General Lottery Analysis

If you love Pattern encores, then Tuesday was a good night! After making an appearance in this past Friday’s drawing, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern came back for more. This time, the winning numbers were 13, 26, 29, 38, 64, and MB 5.

Sobering Up the Mega Millions Way

The holidays are over, and everyone is trickling back into their “normal” routines. After the New Year’s Day drawing, it’ll be a while yet before Mega Millions sees another monster on the horizon. Still, $45 million is nothing to sneeze at! The January 4th, 2019 drawing saw a visit from the most commonly seen Pattern and a major throwback.

Common Patterns, Common End

From a Pattern “eight-peat” to a jackpot that reached three-quarters of a billion dollars, 2018 was a trip. How fitting that December 29th was mostly uneventful!

Mostly?

Both Lotto Texas and Powerball ended the year on a classy note; they stuck to their most commonly seen Patterns. Also, with no grand prize winners, their respective jackpots eased upwards to $10.5 million and $53 million.

Three-Number Combinations

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations for Powerball. Perhaps it peeked at Lotto Texas’s playbook?

The odds of crazy-high jackpots next year look promising, what with what’s going on in Mega Millions right now. Could there be another record-breaking Pattern streak, or at least tie the one that was set this year?

Have a Happy New Year, and we’ll see y’all in 2019!
