“March”ing with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern

March is just around the corner, and with it comes a change of seasons and changing the clock. After a historic February, we’ll be welcoming the warmer months with open arms!

In the lottery world, Mega Millions got ahead of the game. The lottery bid farewell to February by hitching a ride with its most common Pattern. This had the added effect of boosting the jackpot to $43 million.

The Good Kind of Encore

There are few things people ever want to relive. A devastating hurricane, for one. Sitting in a cold, dark house for nearly three days in subfreezing temperatures is another. On the opposite end of the spectrum are things so wonderful you want to relive them again, like winning a contest or lottery Pattern encores.

That last one wasn’t a typo.

Between Lotto Texas and Powerball, one of these lotteries saw a Pattern encore February 20, 2021. Now, both lotteries did see an increase in their jackpots. Lotto Texas rose to $5.75 million and Powerball ascended to $90 million. Which of these jokers saw the Pattern encore? Keep reading!

Sturdy Jackpot Foundation

A lottery jackpot is much like a house. Over time, the foundation wears away and if not shored up, the house collapses. Winning the jackpot is like knocking the house off its foundation. Unlike actual houses, lotteries can rebuild with every reset, so long as said lotteries continue to exist.

There were no signs of collapse in either Lotto Texas or Powerball January 16, 2021. Powerball, like Mega Millions, got closer to a billion-dollar jackpot. With the players thwarted yet again, the prize grew to $730 million. Lotto Texas remained respectable and quietly rose to $5.5 million.

We’re halfway through January and Powerball has yet to fall. As it goes with lotteries, such a fall is inevitable, and this one is going to be massive! Will it happen next week, or will Powerball’s jackpot become a member of the Billion Dollar Club?

How the Prize was Won

The first full week of 2021 has been one for the history books, to put it mildly. Lottery-wise, hundreds of millions of dollars are now up for grabs in both Mega Millions and Powerball. Meanwhile, Lotto Texas continues to retain its dignity. And, on January 9, 2021, we saw the first lottery win of the year!

The lottery win, of course, was in Lotto Texas. Come on, now. If you won $7.75 million, would you turn it down? Anyway, with its prize won, the jackpot was reset to $5 million. Powerball crossed over into the ultra-rich territory. As the jackpot evaded players yet again, it grew to $550 million.

Mega Millions in “Beastly Beginnings”

Happy New Year, everyone! Last year was a year like no other, and it’d be hard to find anyone who misses 2020. May 2021 be a year that’s kinder to us all.

Whether we wanted to or not, many of us rang in 2021 at home. Even without the gigantic parties, firework shows, whether on the block or on TV, more than made up for that (and they were free!). Speaking of fireworks, Mega Millions had a big display of its own. Since September, the jackpot has managed to escape the grasp of the players and on New Year’s Day 2021, the beastly jackpot became even beastlier.

As fate would have it, all the players came up short when it came to picking the six winning numbers. Thus, the beast grew once again, reaching $432 million.

General Lottery Analysis

Part of that beastliness was fueled by a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore. With winning numbers 8, 24, 53, 68, 69 and MB 7, this Pattern made its 280th appearance.

Now with six appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 9.375% of the 64 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.14% of the 280 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.95% of all 633 drawings. The Beast of 2020

Special thanks to guest blogger Romulun Harris for filling in Sunday!

At long last, 2020 is over. One of the most trying, if not bizarre years in modern human history will soon be in the rear-view mirror. There is one aspect of 2020 we still must contend with, and that’s the Mega Millions jackpot.

Over the past three months, we’ve watched it grow from a $20 million hatchling to a monstrous size. The beast will still be with us as we ring in 2021. Since none of the players matched all six numbers, the jackpot now stands at $401 million.
