A Whiff of $2 Billion

Mega Millions is certainly hardy! This lottery has masterfully thwarted all who desire its jackpot. Dreams of early retirement have shriveled and blown away in the presence of Mega Millions these past few months. Looking at Friday night’s results, Mega Millions is like this summer’s disturbingly persistent heat. That is, Mega Millions is not relenting anytime soon.

August 4, 2023 was much like any other Friday night. Millions started their weekend off with a night out and a stopover at their local convenience store. That billion-dollar jackpot was too big to ignore, so why not take a shot at it, right? Alas, like so many other Friday nights over the past three, soon to be four months, no one walked away with the prize. As the jackpot grew to $1.55 billion, the idea of a $2 billion jackpot became less farfetched.

Will the jackpot really hit the $2 billion mark next week, or will the jackpot be won?

Second Helpings and Second Guessings

As the relentless heat tightened its grip on Lottery Trend headquarters Wednesday, Lotto Texas and Powerball tightened their grips on their respective jackpots. August 2, 2023 was a night hopping with an encore and rumblings of a playback. Those, combined with a healthy dose of repeating Combinations, pushed the Lotto Texas jackpot to $13.5 million and the Powerball jackpot to $124 million.

The Tuesday Night August Pile-On

August. That’s the eighth month. It’s the month when students head back to class and the summer heat intensifies (as if it can’t get any hotter). This year, August is the month that Mega Millions is the lone billion-dollar jackpot. As of August 1, 2023, Mega Millions is still the lone billion-dollar jackpot, and then some!

Mega Millions took a quieter approach Tuesday night. At least, it was quieter than Friday night. Yet, as quiet as it was, the jackpot grew to $1.25 billion.

General Lottery Analysis

The August 1, 2023 drawing featured the 29th Australia Play. With winning numbers 8, 24, 30, 45, 61 and MB 12, the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have played in 3.22% of the 902 Mega Millions drawings. To Spread or Not to Spread

After a week of repeating Four-Number Combinations and similar spreads, Lotto Texas and Powerball scaled it back some Saturday night. However, there was one question these lotteries asked themselves: “Should I play another similar spread?” One lottery opted to go for it, while the other was content to play repeating Combinations. Regardless, Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their respective jackpots climb to $11.75 million and $74 million.

Mega Millions’ Billion-Dollar Feeling

With Powerball having been knocked out of the billion-dollar race some time ago, Mega Millions was left standing tall and mighty. Any talk of the jackpot being brought down to size was squashed Friday night. After three months of nurturing (and taunts), the Mega Millions jackpot crossed over the billion dollar line! An assist from a repeating Four-Number Combination wasn’t needed to boost the prize to $1.05 billion.

Is Tuesday night the night that Mega Millions will be forced to reset, or will the jackpot rise once more?

The Four-Number Combination Persuasion

On the way to one billion dollars, Mega Millions inadvertently started a trend. Earlier in the week, this lottery played host to a repeating Four-Number Combination. The urge to host repeating Four-Number Combinations was present in both Lotto Texas and Powerball Wednesday night! Additionally, their respective jackpots grew to $11.25 million and $60 million.

Did Lotto Texas and Powerball have their fill of repeating Four-Number Combinations for the week, or will more be on the way Saturday night?

Four-Number Combination

Mega Millions thought Tuesday night was a golden opportunity for a repeating Four-Number Combination!

Three-Number Combinations

  • 3, 5, 6
  • 3, 5, MB 25
  • 5, 6, MB 25
  • 3, 6, MB 25

All the above Combinations debuted in the earlier-mentioned May 24th drawing. Mega Millions, in fact, had room for two more:
