The Biggest Draw of the Night

Lotto Texas and Powerball are worlds apart, and May 19th proved the point. The Texas lottery had a quiet night, what with there being no jackpot winner. But, the Pattern there was like a boomerang. You’ve tossed it, and you think it’s gone, but it comes right back.

As for Powerball, Saturday night was truly that lottery’s time to shine. A player in New Jersey is now $315 million richer, and five players in Florida, Texas, Minnesota, and New York will have $1 million more. Of course, that wasn’t all Powerball had to offer. We’ll get to that momentarily.

With winning numbers 1, 12, 22, 31, 39, and 46, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 217th appearance.

Given that there have been 1552 Lotto Texas drawings, this special play has occurred 14% of the time. For our long-time readers, the last time we saw an Australia Play was on May 12th, 2018.  This lottery has certainly become fond of Australia lately! With the notoriously hot and brutal Texas summer rearing its head soon, a trip Down Under may not be such a bad idea. Winter’s a comin’ down there.

And now for the show-stopper.

The numbers that gave five people the option to quit their day jobs were 3, 6, 9, 17, 56, and PB 25.

These six numbers made up the 56th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, which was also last seen on May 12th, 2018. This Pattern has played in 20.4% of the 274 Powerball drawings.

With fifteen appearances, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has played in 26.8% of the 56 drawings where the winning Pattern was {3-1-1-1}. This General Order has also played in 5.47% of all 274 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, we saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order on April 11th, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 20% of the fifteen drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 5.36% of 56 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 274 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.09% of the time. The 3 1 0 1 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on December 23rd, 2017.

“Going big” was the way to go.

Summer is almost upon us. Will we continue to see these wild and crazy plays in the week ahead?

The One Where Uncommonly Seen Patterns Were Unearthed

Two things reached the stratosphere May 16th: The Houston Rockets and the Powerball jackpot. Nobody won the big prize Wednesday night, and as I write this post, the jackpot is now an outstanding $306 million. There was a winner in Lotto Texas, one who is now $30.2 million richer. Regardless of whether a winner came forth, a couple of rarities were unearthed, one for each lottery.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 20, 24, 27, 37, 39, and 41, the uncommonly-seen {3-3} Pattern made its 131st appearance.

The first of two rare Patterns. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Given that there have been 1551 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 8.45% of the time and was last seen in the April 14, 2018 drawing.

Now with 42 appearances, the 0 3 3 Specific Order has played in 32.1% of the 131 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 2.71% of all 1551 drawings. Prior to Wednesday’s drawing, this Specific Order was last seen on November 30, 2016.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In addition to a not-so-common Pattern, there were two repeating Four-Number Combinations:

  • 20, 24, 37, 39 (Debuted June 10, 2009)
  • 20, 27, 37, 41 (Debuted March 2, 2016)

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Even rarer than the {3-3} Pattern in Lotto Texas is Powerball’s {4-1-1}. After Wednesday night’s drawing, the {4-1-1} Pattern has made a grand total of five appearances. The winning numbers were 17, 19, 21, 22, 51, and PB 19.

Fifth time’s the charm. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 273 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 1.83% of them. The {4-1-1} Pattern was last seen on March 17, 2018.

With three appearances, the [4-1-1] General Order has played in 60% of the five drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.10% of all 273 drawings. We last saw the [4-1-1] General Order on September 16, 2017.

Wednesday night saw the debut of a new Specific Order! The 0 4 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has now played in 33.3% of the three drawings where the General Order was [4-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 20% of the five drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.37% of all 273 drawings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

What’s a rarely-seen Pattern without a couple of repeating Three-Number Combinations to accompany it?

Will either of these rare Patterns make an encore Saturday night?

Pre-Mother’s Day Saturday Encore

Today’s post is going to start with a tribute.

Be they called “mothers”, “las madres”, or just plain “Moms”, without them we wouldn’t be. They nurtured us, comforted us, fussed at us (when we needed it!), and made sure we became functioning members of society. Mothers aren’t perfect, but dang if they don’t try. Even when the kids have grown up and have lives of their own, mothers are like artists: they feel their work is never done! As annoying as it may seem, we’ll end up missing that fussing and “worrisomeness” when their time comes.

And, in the spirit of Mother’s Day, May 12th was a quiet night for Lotto Texas and Powerball. The only rowdiness was a Pattern encore and a repeating Three-Number Combination.

Lotto Texas

The {2-2-2} Pattern made an encore appearance with winning numbers 4, 11, 19, 28, 51, and 54.

This Pattern has played in 216 drawings. Of course, when the {2-2-2} Pattern played, that meant the 2 2 2 Specific Order was along for the ride. Given that there have been 216 Lotto Texas drawings, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 13.9% of them.

Powerball

This Pattern has now played in 20.2% of the 272 Powerball drawings, and was last seen on April 11, 2018.

With 25 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 45.5% of the 55 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.19% of all 272 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, the [1-1-3-1] General Order played on March 24, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order has played in 12% of the 25 drawings where [1-1-3-1] was the General Order of the evening. This Specific Order has also played in 5.45% of the 55 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 272 drawings, this Specific Order has played in 1.10% of all 272 drawings. We last saw the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order in the November 15, 2017 drawing.

Will either Powerball or Lotto Texas see Pattern encores on Wednesday, or will other Patterns take the reins?

Great Lotteries Think Alike

In the past, we’ve seen Lotto Texas and Powerball play the same Pattern, and even have a “joint” Pattern streak. Although neither of those things happened May 9th, that night was a treat for playback lovers everywhere. In fact, the night was bouncing with not just playbacks but repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 17, 30, 34, 39, and 51, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 215th appearance. These two combined make up that special playback we here like to call the Australia Play.

Given that there have been 1549 Lotto Texas drawings, the Australia Play has happened in 13.9% of them. An Australia Play was previously seen on April 18, 2018.

There was also one repeating Four-Number Combination.

The {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have now played 20 times each. And, with 271 Powerball drawings, that means Powerball’s Australia Play has happened 7.38% of the time.  The last time this happened was in the April 4, 2018 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination was 50, 69, and PB 19.

Interestingly, this Combination made its debut in the April 21st drawing just a few weeks ago.

Another interesting (and totally out of character) thing is how short this post was for Lotto Texas and Powerball analysis. With Mother’s Day (for the US/Canada/Australia anyway) right around the corner, will these lotteries be sweet and chill, or go nuts with Australia Play encores?

(Almost) Mirror Twins?

Another Cinco de Mayo has come and gone. Lotto Texas and Powerball were joined at the hip this time, or at least wore matching tops. And yet, it was Lotto Texas that saw much of the action Saturday night. It had five beers, a tequila, and All-You-Can-Eat Fajitas while Powerball settled for some chips/salsa and a margarita.

Lotto Texas

Lotto Texas went to town May 5th. Source: lotterytrend.com.

This made for the 808th appearance of the Pattern. Given that there have been 1548 Lotto Texas drawings to date, this Pattern has played 52.2% of the time.

Now with 122 appearances, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15.1% of the 808 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 7.88% of all 1548 drawings. Prior to the Cinco de Mayo drawing, we last saw the 1 3 2 Specific Order on April 21, 2018.

Similar Spread

Fifth time is the best time it seems to throw in a similar spread! The spread for Saturday night’s drawing was 04:05:03:15:09. This is similar to the spread that showed up in the March 19, 2011 drawing. The winning numbers were 15, 24, 29, 32, 36, and 51 and the spread was 09:05:03:04:15. Notice that although the differences between numbers were the same, the orders were different.

Four-Number Combination(s)

A repeating Four-Number Combination added more pep into Lotto Texas’s step:

Lotto Texas may have been the life of the party, but there were a few interesting observations in Powerball as well.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of the May 2nd drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made an encore. Yes, that means the Patterns for both Lotto Texas and Powerball played together that night! Saturday night’s winning numbers were 14, 29, 36, 57, 61, and PB 17.

Powerball was the quiet one. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that this Pattern has now played 79 times, and that there have been 270 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 29.3% of them.

With 24 appearances, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in 30.4% of the 79 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 8.89% of all 270 drawings. This General Order was last seen on April 21, 2018. And wouldn’t ya know it? That was the last time we saw Lotto Texas’s 1 3 2 Specific Order (before Saturday).

The “copycatting” was broken with the 1 0 2 0 2 1 Specific Order. Now with three appearances, this Specific Order has played in 12.5% of the 24 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.80% of the 79 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.11% of all 270 drawings. We last saw the 1 0 2 0 2 1 Specific Order on July 2, 2016.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations in Powerball.

Could the {3-2-1} and {2-2-1-1} Patterns be joined together on Wednesday night?

Return of the Playback

For Lotto Texas, the month of April ended with a playback. And wouldn’t you know it? A playback happened again on May 2nd! Which Pattern-Specific Order pair saw this phenomenon? Well, it wasn’t the {2-2-2} Pattern/2 2 2 Specific Order. That would’ve been an Australia Play, a.k.a. “The Ultimate Playback”.

Powerball avoided the allure of not only the playback, but grand plays in general. It found normalcy to be quite alluring.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its fourth consecutive appearance with winning numbers 1, 2, 16, 27, 36, and 38.

Given its 807th appearance, this Pattern has played in 52.2% of the 1547 drawings so far in Lotto Texas.

By the powers of deduction, that means the 3 2 1 Specific Order made an encore. Now with 144 appearances, this Specific Order has played in 17.8% of the 807 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 9.31% of all 1547 drawings.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Once again, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

And now it’s time to talk of Powerball’s comparatively “normal” night. With winning numbers 5, 14, 31, 40, 50, and PB 6, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 78 times.

A new Pattern was the “safest” play. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 269 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played in 29% of them. Prior to Wednesday night, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern played on April 21, 2018.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order, now with 30 appearances, has played in 38.5% of the 78 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-2-1-1}. And, this General Order has played in 11.2% of all 269 drawings. The [2-2-1-1] General Order was last seen on February 14, 2018.

Now with three appearances, the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 10% of the 30 drawings where the General Order was [2-2-1-1] and in 3.85% of the 78 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 269 drawings, this Pattern has played 1.12% of the time. The 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order was last seen over two years ago in the February 6, 2016 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball was so normal that there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will Saturday night be a sense of déjà vu, or will other Patterns get their shot?

The {3-2-1} Pattern Takeover

There are times when Lotto Texas and Powerball are joined at the hip. Patterns that played together one night will go on to make an encore, or even establish a Pattern streak, together. April 28th was something like that. That night, the {3-2-1} Pattern reigned supreme, showing up in not just Lotto Texas, but Powerball, too. However, the Pattern meant different things in different lotteries.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

What makes the 806th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern is that it was a three-peat. With winning numbers 7, 12, 13, 30, 33, and 38, this Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1546 Lotto Texas drawings.

The first {3-2-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

The {3-2-1} Pattern is second-to-none in Lotto Texas, and it looks to remain this way for a long time.

Now with 143 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.7% of the 806 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 9.25% of all 1546 drawings. And, it accompanied the {3-2-1} Pattern in this past Wednesday’s drawing. An Australia Play was not meant to be, but a playback was just as nice.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In fact, the playback was so nice that there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

One way the {3-2-1} Pattern in Powerball differs from that in Lotto Texas is by statistics. Although this Pattern is the most commonly seen in Lotto Texas, it’s one of the least commonly seen in Powerball. Saturday night saw the 19th appearance of this Pattern with winning numbers 20, 22, 28, 45, 50, and PB 8.

{3-2-1} Pattern the Second. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 268 Powerball drawings, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 7.09% of them. This {3-2-1} Pattern was last seen on April 18th, 2018. It’s tied with the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern in terms of the number of appearances.

With nine appearances, the [3-2-1] General Order has played in 47.4% of the 19 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 3.36% of all 268 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, this General Order accompanied the {3-2-1} Pattern in the April 18th drawing mentioned earlier.

Note that Lottery Trend doesn’t analyze General Orders for Lotto Texas.

Now with three appearances, the 0 3 0 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 33.3% of the nine drawings where [3-2-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 15.8% of the 19 drawings where the winning Pattern was {3-2-1}. Finally, when looking at all 268 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.12% of the time. The 0 3 0 2 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on February 3rd, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.

May is going to be a big month, what with the school year winding down and the NBA playoffs. Can Lotto Texas and Powerball keep up? Could these {3-2-1} Patterns show up together again Wednesday night?

With Their Patterns Combined

It’s Captain Lottery!

Okay, maybe not.

Lotto Texas and Powerball may not join forces to save the world, but they do provide entertainment every Wednesday (and Saturday) night without fail. Although this is a biweekly routine, anyone who plays the lottery enough (and has been following this blog!) knows that what happens is never routine. Some nights are bursting with a crazy explosion of Pattern streaks, repeating Combinations, or a mixture of the two, while others see nary a spark. April 25th fell somewhere in the middle, sliding more towards the “crazy explosion” side. Both lotteries saw their most commonly seen Patterns, and there was some encore action.

Don’t worry; you don’t need to binge on blog archives to know which Pattern saw the encore.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern’s secret to staying on top is by establishing Pattern streaks, or at least making an encore. Right off the heels of this past Saturday night, this Pattern made its 805th appearance with winning numbers 2, 5, 12, 26, 31, and 43.

Given that there have been 1545 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played 52.1% of the time.

Now with 142 appearances, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.4% of the 805 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.19% of all 1545 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this Specific Order played on March 28, 2018.

Lotto Texas decided a {3-2-1} Pattern encore was sufficient. Therefore, no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Prior to Wednesday night, the 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order played in the October 25, 2017 drawing. That was exactly six months ago.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Powerball saw two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

Lotto Texas and Powerball will see their last drawings for April this Saturday. As the month winds down and the summer countdowns start, will either the {3-2-1} or {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern show up again? Could there even be playback action?

Fighting the Freeze

Things are starting to warm up in Houston and other parts of the U.S. Whether or not we’re going to board the weather roller coaster again anytime soon is best left to the professionals. Meanwhile, we can say that both Lotto Texas and Powerball were determined to heat things up April 21st. “Quiet” was not the word of the evening!

Given the 1544 Lotto Texas drawings so far, this Pattern has played in 52.1% of them and was last seen on April 7, 2018.

Now with 121 appearances, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15% of the 804 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also now played in 7.84% of all 1544 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, it previously played on February 14, 2018.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Repeating Four-Number Combinations are a fail-safe way to spice it up. There were three of them this time:

  • 17, 24, 28, 49 (Debuted November 7, 2007)

This Pattern has played in 34.1% of the 266 Powerball drawings and was last seen in the April 7, 2018 drawing.

You could say Lotto Texas and Powerball were joined at the hip Saturday night.

With its 23rd appearance, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in 29.9% of the 77 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-2-1-1} and in 8.66% of all 266 drawings. This General Order was seen alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned April 7th drawing.

Alas, a playback was not meant to be. Now with three appearances, the 0 0 1 2 2 1 Specific Order has played in 13% of the 23 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.90% of the 77 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 266 drawings, this General Order has played 1.13% of the time. The Midweek Playback

The lottery world is a lot like the “real” one these days. Just as it’s been snow one day and warmth the next, it’s chilly Mega Millions followed by a joint effort by Lotto Texas and Powerball to warm things up. April 18, 2018 brought us the ultimate playback and the debut of a Specific Order.

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas is hoppin’ mad for Australia Plays these days! It was just last week, April 11, 2018 to be precise, that we last saw one. With winning numbers 10, 14, 27, 32, 45, and 49, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played 214 times.
