23 Skidoo! A Blast From the (Recent) Past

A lot has happened since Saturday’s post. The Memorial Day weekend came and went, and Lottery Binge reached the one-year mark! Right off the heels of a big weekend, Mega Millions mellowed out. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations, nor were there any rare plays. However, there was a play that appeared not too long ago. From last week, in fact.

Now with 154 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. The winning numbers for May 30, 2017 were 5, 20, 32, 37, 67, and MB 5.

This Pattern has played in 40.8% of the 377 drawings, and was recently seen in the May 23, 2017 drawing.

With 35 appearances, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in 22.7% of the 154 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This statistic shrinks to 9.28% when looking at all 377 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order was last seen in the April 4, 2017 drawing.

Our Mega Millions coverage concludes with the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order, which made its fourth appearance. This Specific Order has played in 11.4% of the 35 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General order has appeared, and in 2.60% of the 154 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.06% of all drawings, and previously played in the February 24, 2017 drawing.

With May under wraps and June right around the corner, what does Friday’s drawing have in store?

Marchin’ Orders

Summer is upon us in Lottery Trend Country (US). The barbeque pits are firing up, beach parties are in full swing, and some kids got a head start to summer vacation. Mega Millions kick-started summer with a repeating Three-Number Combination Friday night! Now, before I get to that, there’s a matter concerning order that must be discussed. Both the General Order and the Specific Order were last seen this past March.

The winning numbers in the May 26th drawing were 25, 26, 28, 37, 56, and MB 5.

Now with 61 appearances, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played in 16.2% of the 376 Mega Millions drawings. Prior to Friday, this Pattern was last seen just a couple of weeks ago in the May 12th drawing.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made it 21st appearance, and has now played in 34.4% of the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 5.59% of all drawings. This Specific Order previously played in the March 31st, 2017 drawing.

Making its fourth appearance, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in roughly 19% of the 21 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.56% of the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.06% of all drawings. Like the [3-1-1-1] General Order, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the March 31st, 2017 drawing.

And now it’s time to discuss the Three-Number Combination.

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 28, 37, and 56.

This Combination made its debut in the February 7th, 2017 drawing.

Next week will mark the first anniversary of Lottery Binge, and of course, the end of May. How will Mega Millions end the month? Will there be a rare play? Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern go for an encore appearance?

Making No Waves

May 23rd was a peaceful night for Mega Millions. There were no Pattern encores or wild and crazy plays. The biggest draw of the evening was a repeating Three-Number Combination.

Making its 153rd appearance, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. The winning numbers were 6, 13, 17, 33, 60, and MB 14.

This Pattern has now played in 40.8% of the 375 drawings, and was last seen in the May 16th drawing, exactly one week prior.

The [2-1-1-1-1] made its 37th appearance, and has now played in 24.2% of the 153 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.87% of all drawings. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, this General Order previously played in the February 14th, 2017 drawing.

Now with six appearances, the 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 16.2% of the 37 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.92% of the 153 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.6% of all 375 drawings. The 2 1 1 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the January 20th, 2017 drawing.

The Three-Number Combination of the evening was 6, 17, 33.

This Combination made its debut in the February 6th, 2015 drawing.

With Memorial Day (and summer vacation for a few lucky kids) right around the corner, will Friday’s drawing bring on the fireworks?

Stirring the Pot

From having a (deceptive) Australia Play to repeating Three-Number Combinations, Mega Millions took a different route in the May 19th drawing. An uncommonly seen Pattern surfaced, and this Pattern had previously played with the General Order of the evening. There was also a Specific Order that played for the first time in almost two years.

The {3-2-1} Pattern played for the 24th time on Friday night, with winning numbers 1, 4, 5, 24, 30, and MB 1.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern previously played in the April 21st drawing almost exactly one month prior, and has played in 6.42% of the 374 Mega Millions drawings.

Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, the [3-2-1] General Order previously played in the April 21st drawing. This General Order has now played 12 times, appearing in half of the drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. The [3-2-1] General Order has also played in 3.21% of all 374 drawings.

Making its second appearance, the 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played in approximately 16.67% of the 12 drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order appeared, and in roughly 8.33% of the 24 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared. This Specific Order has also appeared in 0.53% of all 374 drawings. The 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the June 2nd, 2015 drawing.

If one were to look at the Pattern and the General Order, one would be tempted to think that an Australia Play had taken place. Not only did they feature the same numbers (3-2-1), they also played together before. But, if one were to look at the Specific Order, this can’t be an Australia Play. After all, there’s no such thing as a 3 2 1 Specific Order in Mega Millions! The 3 2 1 Specific Order exists only for Lotto Texas.

As for repeating Three-Number Combinations, there were none on Friday night.

Will next week feature a true Australia Play?

Catching Breath

After Friday night’s drawing, you were probably just eager to see a real Australia Play in Mega Millions, weren’t you? Seeing the Pattern, General Order, and the Specific Order having all previously played together before was just a teaser, right? Well, that was not to be. Tuesday night was not the night, and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t make an encore appearance. Yet, as calm as the May 16th drawing was, a Three-Number Combination made its second-ever appearance.

Pattern-wise, reigning champion {2-1-1-1-1} made its 152nd appearance, with winning numbers 4, 35, 39, 56, 72, and MB 11.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 40.8% of the 373 Mega Millions drawings, and was last seen in the May 9th drawing exactly one week ago.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 45th appearance, and has now played in 29.6% of the 152 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 12.1% of all 373 drawings. Prior to Tuesday, this General Order previously played in the April 18th, 2017 drawing.

Making its eighth appearance, the 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has now played in approximately 17.8% of the 45 drawings where the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.26% of the 152 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.14% of all drawings. The 1 0 2 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the October 21st, 2016 drawing.

The biggest play of the evening was the repeat appearance of Three-Number Combination 4, 35, MB 11.

This Combination made its debut in the December 27th, 2013 drawing.

Will Friday’s drawing feature a bona fide Australia Play? Will an even bigger play usher in the start of the weekend or will Mega Millions mellow out?

The Big Playback

Looking at the title, you’re probably thinking that an Australia Play took place. Well, you’d be wrong. The May 12, 2017 drawing did present a phenomenon found with an Australia Play. But, why spoil it in the introductory paragraph?

Friday night’s winning numbers were 28, 34, 41, 42, 47, and MB 13, bringing the total number of appearances of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern to 60.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 16.1% of the 372 Mega Millions drawings, and was last seen in the April 11, 2017 drawing.

Making its 18th appearance, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played in 30% of the 60 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 4.84% of all drawings. Like the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-3-1-1] Specific Order was also last seen in the April 11th drawing.

See a pattern here?

The 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order made its seventh appearance. This Specific Order has now played in approximately 38.9% of the 18 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared. Moving up the chain, this Specific Order has played in approximately 11.7% of the 60 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.88% of all 372 drawings. Like the Pattern and the General Order of the evening, the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the April 11th drawing.

For those of you who’ve just started checking out Lottery Binge, you can see above that the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order all appeared together on a previous day. This is one feature of the Australia Play phenom; the main feature is that the Pattern, General Order, and the Specific Order are the same. In the case of Mega Millions, the Australia Play would consist of the {1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order, and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. However, unlike what occurred on Friday night, the statistics for each would be the same. What took place isn’t common to begin with, even rarer when an Australia Play did not appear.

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance? Will there be a bona fide Australia Play?

(Almost) Repeat de Mayo

Pardon the corny title, but a funny thing happened in the May 9th Mega Millions drawing. Right off the heels of Cinco de Mayo, both the Pattern and the General Order made an encore appearance! How amazing would it have been to see repeating Three-Number Combinations that made their debut on May 5th, (insert year)? Alas, that was not to be. The Lottery Trend analysis team was content with the Pattern and General Order encores and ran with it.

Ahem.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 151st appearance, with winning numbers 6, 29, 45, 69, 73, and MB 11.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

As of Tuesday night, this Pattern has played in 40.7% of the 371 drawings.

Making its 37th appearance, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played in 24.5% of the 151 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.97% of all Mega Millions drawings.

The outlier, if it can be called such, was the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order. Unlike the Pattern and Specific Order of the evening, this Specific Order was last seen in the March 24th, 2017 drawing. Statistically speaking, this Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 37 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared and 4.64% of the 151 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 371 drawings into account, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 1.89% of the time.

Will there be a rare Pattern in Friday’s drawing, or will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat?

A Trio for Cinco de Mayo

For our readers scratching their heads at the title, Cinco de Mayo is a holiday to commemorate Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 (source). This holiday, believe it or not, is more popular in Lottery Trend Country (a.k.a. the US) than it is in Mexico. Means of celebration include, but are not limited to, margaritas, Mexican or Tex-Mex cuisine, and…Mega Millions? This year, the two coincided, and Mega Millions got into the spirit with three repeating Three-Number Combinations.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 150th appearance, with winning numbers 4, 23, 33, 47, 53, and MB 7.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Just like it is in sister lottery Powerball, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen in Mega Millions, and by a healthy margin. This Pattern has now played in 40.5% of the 350 drawings, and previously played in the April 18, 2017 drawing.

With its 36th appearance, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has now played in 24% of the 150 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.73% of all 350 drawings. Prior to Friday, this Pattern was last seen in the March 24, 2017 drawing.

The 1 1 1 2 0 1 Specific Order made its ninth appearance. Statistically speaking, this Specific Order has played in 25% of the 36 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, 6% of the 150 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.43% of all Mega Millions drawings. To see when the 1 1 1 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played, we need to look at the March 17, 2017 drawing.

Finally, we come to the repeating Three-Number Combinations. The Combinations this time were

  • 23, 33, 47 (Debuted June 25, 2015)
  • 33, 53, MB 7 (Debuted October 29, 2013)
  • 4, 53, MB 7 (Debuted March 21, 2017)

Will there be more repeating Three-Number Combinations next week? Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance, or will a rarer Pattern play?

And Now May

May is another one of those transition months. It’s the last month of school for some lucky kids in Lottery Trend Country, basketball playoffs are underway (Go Rockets!), and the first anniversary of Lottery Binge is coming up. Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, and what better way to get in the spirit than a three-peat?

The May 2nd drawing started the month with the third consecutive appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Its 113th appearance was marked by winning numbers 5, 14, 42, 43, 58, and MB 1.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now appeared in 30.6% of the 369 Mega Millions drawings thus far.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 42nd appearance, and has now played in 37.2% of the 113 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 11.4% of all Mega Millions drawings. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the [2-2-1-1] General Order was last seen in the April 28th, 2017 drawing.

Our Mega Millions analysis concludes with the seventh appearance of the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 16.667% of the 42 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, 6.19% of the 113 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.90% of all 369 drawings. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the April 25th, 2017 drawing.

With Cinco de Mayo kicking off the first weekend of May this year, will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern be bold enough to make a fourth appearance?

Doubling Down on the Slow Roll

April has officially come and gone for Mega Millions. There were no sightings of a rare Pattern or a repeating Three-Number Combination. Instead, the night of April 28th was marked by the encore appearances of both the Pattern and the General Order.

Right off the heels of Tuesday’s drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 112th appearance. The winning numbers were 6, 13, 18, 20, 31, and MB 13.

Winning Mega Millions numbers. From lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 30.4% of the 368 Mega Millions drawings to date.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order also made an encore appearance. With 41 appearances, this General Order has now played in 36.6% of the 112 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.1% of all Mega Millions drawings.

The 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order made its second appearance Friday night, now having played in 4.88% of the 41 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.79% of the 112 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.54% of all drawings. The 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut in the December 17th, 2013 drawing. This was nearly three-and-a-half years ago.

May is on its way, and summer is right around the corner in Lottery Trend country. Will Mega Millions start the month with a {2-2-1-1} three-peat?
