(Almost) Repeat de Mayo

Pardon the corny title, but a funny thing happened in the May 9th Mega Millions drawing. Right off the heels of Cinco de Mayo, both the Pattern and the General Order made an encore appearance! How amazing would it have been to see repeating Three-Number Combinations that made their debut on May 5th, (insert year)? Alas, that was not to be. The Lottery Trend analysis team was content with the Pattern and General Order encores and ran with it.

Ahem.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 151st appearance, with winning numbers 6, 29, 45, 69, 73, and MB 11.

As of Tuesday night, this Pattern has played in 40.7% of the 371 drawings.

Making its 37th appearance, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played in 24.5% of the 151 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.97% of all Mega Millions drawings.

The outlier, if it can be called such, was the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order. Unlike the Pattern and Specific Order of the evening, this Specific Order was last seen in the March 24th, 2017 drawing. Statistically speaking, this Specific Order has played in 18.9% of the 37 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared and 4.64% of the 151 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When taking all 371 drawings into account, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 1.89% of the time.

Will there be a rare Pattern in Friday’s drawing, or will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat?
