The Ever-Assertive {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern

There are some things in life that, if you want them, must be taken by force. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t get to be the most commonly-played Pattern by being mousy! It did so with ruthless Pattern streaks and by blocking other Patterns from making encores. With no grand prize winner after the March 26, 2019 drawing, $75 million dollars will be up for grabs Friday.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore Friday night?

A {3-1-1-1} Pattern Bump

Mega Millions drawings are like snowflakes. There may be similarities, but none are ever alike. Just last week, we watched someone claim $50 million. And, in the March 22, 2019 drawing, we passed that threshold. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot bumped up to $57 million.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern isn’t typically one to make an encore. Most likely though is that that jackpot is going to inch up again after Tuesday’s drawing. One thing for certain is that anything is possible.

Mega Millions Calming

If March 15th is known as “The Ides of March”, then what do you call March 19th? This year, it’s Tuesday. Simply Tuesday.

Okay, maybe not simply. Tuesday night was the last night of winter, calendar-wise. With no grand prize winner, the prize for Friday is now $50 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 42, 53, 66, 68, and MB 15, the {2-1-1-1-1} made an encore! This Pattern has now played 196 times.

Of the 446 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has now played 43.9% of the time.

There was more than just a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore. In fact, Mega Millions exceeded expectations. How, you wonder?

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order also made an encore, and with 46 appearances under its belt, it has now played in 23.5% of the 196 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.3% of all 446 drawings.

And wouldn’t ya know it? The 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order made an encore as well! Now with 17 appearances, this Specific Order has played in roughly 37% of the 46 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.67% of the 196 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, and the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order were all seen together in the March 15, 2019 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

A playback was enough excitement for Mega Millions Tuesday night. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

We’ll have to wait and see if the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern goes on to a three-peat Friday night. And, after what happened just last week, it would be interesting if another $50 million winner popped up. The wonders of lottery: you never know what will happen!

The Ides of Mega Millions

You know the Ides of March by a more familiar name: March 15th. History (and Shakespearean) buffs will know this as the day Julius Caesar was assassinated. More recently, it was the day that Muslims were murdered during Friday prayer in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Please keep the victims’ families in your thoughts.

March 15th is a day with a gruesome history. Not so for Mega Millions, fortunately. Friday night was fruitful for repeating Three-Number Combinations. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot is now $45 million, and all this was thanks to a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore with winning numbers 3, 29, 56, 62, 64, and MB 4. This Pattern has now played 195 times.

Of the 445 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 43.8% of the time. Remember; this Pattern played March 12, 2019.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 45th appearance and has now played in 23.1% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 445 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 10.1% of the time.

Now with sixteen appearances, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 35.6% of the 45 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 8.25% of the 195 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 3.60% of all 445 drawings.

Both the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order and the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order played February 1, 2019.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore were four repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 3, 29, 64 (Debuted February 3, 2017)
  • 29, 56, MB 4 (Debuted November 25, 2014)
  • 56, 62, 64 (Debuted January 7, 2014)
  • 3, 64, MB 4 (Debuted September 25, 2015)

History points to the jackpot climbing a bit before being claimed, but this past Tuesday showed that anything can happen. Still, considering that the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore, one thing to keep an eye on going into Tuesday is whether there’s a three-peat. This Pattern is fond of streaks.

Show Me the $50 Million

Well, this was unexpected!

For the past few months, Mega Millions has been following this routine:

  1. Reach crazy-large jackpot.
  2. Someone wins crazy-large jackpot and prize gets knocked down to $40 million.
  3. Repeat step 1.

Would you believe that the prize got knocked back down to $40 million already?

“Show me!” you say?

Well sir (or ma’am), it turns out that the sole winner of the March 12th, 2019 Mega Millions jackpot hailed from Missouri! And, to satisfy those from the Show Me State, both figuratively and literally, here’s the rundown.

General Lottery Analysis

Three-Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination was 12, 57, and MB 18.

This Combination made its debut November 27th, 2018.

No need to worry about a crazy-large jackpot this Friday night. There is, however, the matter of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and it loves making encores. Is an encore in the cards?

Springing Towards an Encore

Spring is right around the corner, or at least that’s what the calendar shows. Whether you’re already fighting mosquitoes or bracing for another cold snap, one thing for certain is that Daylight Savings is this weekend*. Warm(er) weather and 9:00 sunsets will be here before we know it!

*Not applicable in Hawaii, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, the US Virgin Islands, and much of Arizona. For the curious, a full of list of places that don’t observe Daylight Savings can be found here.

To kick off the weekend, the March 8th, 2019 Mega Millions drawing gifted us with an encore. With no grand prize winners, the jackpot leapt to $50 million.

A Playback for Mardi Gras

March for Mega Millions has been anything but quiet so far. This past Friday saw someone become $273 million richer (pre-tax). For March 5, 2019, on a party day that gives New Year’s Eve a run for its money, we saw…a playback!

The grand prize will take a while to climb back up. For now, a respectable $45 million is up for grabs Friday.

Will the March momentum continue with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore Friday?

Mega Millions’ $273 Million March

After what happened this past Tuesday, Mega Millions had to step up its game in the March 1st, 2019 drawing. How could playing six repeating Three-Number Combinations, four of which were bundled up within a repeating Four-Number Combination be topped?

By having someone win the grand prize, of course! The $273 million jackpot was won by a single player from New Jersey. Going into Tuesday’s drawing, the prize will start at $40 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 29, 33, 39, 60, 66, and MB 21, the {3-2-1} Pattern, not often seen in Mega Millions, made its 19th appearance.

Three-Number Combination(s)

This Combination made its debut June 26th, 2018.

With no Pattern streak and the grand prize claimed, Tuesday night will be a quiet one. But this is early March, “In like a lion” and all that. Will the {3-2-1} Pattern do the unthinkable and go for the encore?

Combination Parade

And so, with the February 26th, 2019 drawing, Mega Millions bid “Farewell” to February. What better way to end the month than a Pattern encore, right? Start off March with a Pattern streak, too.

Or perhaps a playback? We haven’t seen an Australia Play in a while, either.

Alright, I’ll level with ya. None of those things happened Tuesday night. Instead, Mega Millions had the bold idea of playing a repeating Four-Number (yes, Four-Number) Combination! A blog post introduction cannot do justice describing the fallout of such an event. If that wasn’t intense enough, the grand prize officially crossed over into quarter-billion-dollar territory, now standing tall at $267 million.

This loner made its debut in the June 17th, 2014 drawing!

Three-Number Combination(s)

Of course, when you have a repeating Four-Number Combination, there are four repeating Three-Number Combinations just waiting to burst out!

  • 14, 24, 60
  • 10, 24, 60
  • 10, 14, 60
  • 10, 14, 24

As to be expected, all of the above made their debut June 17th, 2014.

  • 12, 14, 24 (Debuted November 17th, 2015)

No doubt about it, a repeating Four-Number Combination was a bold move for Mega Millions and it paid off spectacularly! This lottery has the honor of welcoming March, and it will certainly be roaring in. Thing is, Tuesday night’s drawing is a tough act to follow. Will Mega Millions outdo itself Friday?

Fade to {2-2-1-1}

After four dates with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, Mega Millions called it quits February 22nd. Friday night’s drawing saw a get-together with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and there were some interesting developments with the repeating Three-Number Combinations. That prize money slipped out of the players’ hands once again; the grand prize is now $245 million, and “crazy-rich” territory isn’t that far off.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 18, 24, 31, 34, 55, and MB 4, the {2-2-1-1} made its 124th appearance.
