Repeats All Around

Tuesday night was a scorcher. Although the {3-1-1-1} Pattern didn’t make an encore appearance, Mega Millions did not disappoint. The Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order all played together before. What’s more is that there were three repeating Three-Number Combinations. When was that special date? Let’s find out.

The winning numbers in the August 15^th drawing were 7, 16, 20, 66, 73, and MB 7. This marked the 119^th appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played in 29.8% of the 399 drawings.

Making its 35^th appearance, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in 29.4% of the 119 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.77% of all 399 drawings.

You’re probably asking, “How come you haven’t mentioned dates!?” Don’t worry. We’re getting to it.

Now with six appearances, the 1 2 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 17.1% of the 35 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.04% of the 119 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in approximately 1.50% of all 399 drawings.

And now it’s time for the big reveal. The Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were all last seen together almost two weeks ago. To be more specific, it was the August 4^th drawing.

With summer starting to wind down, what will Mega Millions have in store Friday night? Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore appearance?

Four Times Fourth

Mega Millions is in the grip of yet another Pattern streak! The {2-2-1-1} Pattern played for the fourth time in a row Friday night. Accompanying this Pattern were two repeating Three-Number Combinations.

The winning numbers for August 4^th were 9, 17, 25, 63, 71, and MB 4, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern to 118.

This Pattern has played in 29.8% of the 396 Mega Millions drawings. Recall that this Pattern was last seen in this past Tuesday’s drawing.

Making its 34^th appearance, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in 28.8% of the 118 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, as well as 8.59% of all 396 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this General Order was last seen in the June 9^th, 2017 drawing.

With five appearances, the 1 2 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has appeared in 14.7% of the 34 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared, and in 4.24% of the 118 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 1.26% of all 396 drawings. This Specific Order was last seen in the October 18^th, 2016 drawing.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern streak held! Instead of ceding ground to other Patterns, this one made its third consecutive appearance in Tuesday’s Mega Millions. Did you also know that you could start the month off by catching opossums in your backyard? You’ll find out how, and why, after this analysis.

The winning numbers for August 1^st were 20, 22, 52, 57, 73, and MB 7, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern to 117.

This Pattern has now played in 29.6% of the 395 drawings to date.

With 43 appearances, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 36.8% of the 117 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 10.9% of all 395 drawings. Prior to Tuesday, this General Order was last seen in the May 2^nd, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 9.30% of the 43 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 3.42% of the 117 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 1.01% of all 395 drawings, and was last seen in the December 15^th, 2015 drawing.

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time around.

Remember last month’s endorsement of homegrown corn? Well, we would’ve endorsed homegrown cantaloupes except for one little problem.

Possums! Apparently, they love the smell, and taste, of sweet melons. They made a feast out of my dad’s cantaloupes, thus taking advantage of his hospitality.

This one was calmer, probably because she just didn’t know.

Bigger, meaner, uglier. This one was caught a day after the smaller one.

This one here, she seemed to know what was up. Just one nudge of the cage, heck, even closing the back door, sent her hissing!

No, we didn’t eat them. Instead, they were released into a park away—far away—from the house.

As anyone who has dealt with possums would know, these guys and gals can climb. A fence can only deter so much. If you don’t have a dog, or heck, even a cat, the next best thing is a humane trap. Once you’ve caught the bugger, drive around before releasing him or her back into the wild.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go for a fourth consecutive appearance, or will another Pattern grab the spotlight?

The New Streak in Town?

July was the month of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in Mega Millions. This Pattern reigned supreme, having two instances where it appeared at least four times in a row. To commemorate the end of the month, for Mega Millions at least, one Pattern decided to shake things up Friday night. Instead of serving as a “stop gap” for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern’s streaks, it may be gearing up to start a streak of its own.

Right off the heels of Tuesday night, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made another appearance in the July 28, 2017 drawing. With winning numbers 4, 6, 31, 49, 52, and MB 11, this Pattern made its 116^th appearance.

This Pattern has played in 29.4% of the 394 Mega Millions drawings.

Making its 41^st appearance, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 35.3% of the 116 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 10.4% of all drawings. This General Order was seen alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in this past Tuesday’s drawing.

Now with six appearances, the 2 0 1 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 14.6% of the 41 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.17% of the 116 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.52% of all 394 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this Specific Order was last seen in the January 6, 2017 drawing.

A Change of Pace

Time flies! It’s hard to believe, but July is almost over. With beach balls soon to be exchanged with backpacks, Mega Millions decided to switch things up again in the July 25, 2017 drawing. After four consecutive appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, one wouldn’t be at fault for thinking the Pattern would show up again. After all, Lottery Binge has covered at least one scenario where this Pattern has played five times in a row. Alas, that was not to be. Another Pattern appeared, and there was also a repeating Three-Number Combination.

The winning numbers on Tuesday night were 2, 5, 26, 58, 60, and MB 6, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern to 115.

This Pattern has played in 29.3% of the 393 Mega Millions drawings, and was last seen in the June 9, 2017 drawing.

With 40 appearances, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 34.8% of the 115 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 10.2% of all Mega Millions drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order had played in the February 10, 2017 drawing.

Making its sixth appearance, the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 15% of the 40 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.22% of the 115 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.53% of all 393 drawings. We last saw this Specific Order over a year ago, in the June 21, 2016 drawing.

The Big Thaw

After a restful weekend, Lotto Texas and Powerball came back swinging Wednesday night. In fact, a major warm-up took place. July 12, 2017 saw Patterns from recent Saturdays make an appearance in both lotteries. What’s more is that the Powerball Pattern from this past Saturday made an encore appearance. There were also repeating Four-Number Combinations for Lotto Texas and a repeating Three-Number Combination for Powerball.

Prior to Wednesday night, how recent was Lotto Texas’s Pattern? What was it, anyway?

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 760^th appearance, with winning numbers 4, 19, 24, 32, 44, and 50.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1463 drawings and was last seen in the July 1, 2017 drawing nearly two weeks ago.

With 116 appearances, the 1 3 2 Specific Order has played in 15.3% of the 760 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.93% of all 1463 drawings. Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, this Specific Order previously played on July 1^st.

There were two repeating Four-Number Combinations, one of which made its debut near the beginning of the century (yeah, that far). They were

4, 24, 32, 50 (Debuted December 29, 2001)

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore was thanks to numbers 1, 2, 18, 23, 61, and PB 9, bringing the total number of appearances to 57.

This Pattern has played in 30.8% of the 185 Powerball drawings.

Making its 23^rd appearance, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 40.4% of the 57 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 12.4% of all 185 drawings. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, this General Order was last seen in the July 8, 2017 drawing.

With two appearances, the 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 8.70% of the 23 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order appeared, 3.51% of the 57 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.08% of all drawings. This Specific Order made its debut in the November 4, 2015 drawing.

There was one repeating Three-Number Combination: 23, 61, PB 9.

Will things stay hot on Saturday night?

The Big Combination Freeze

Things got even chillier July 8, 2017. For the past few weeks, the Lotto Texas/Powerball posts covered at least one lottery having either a repeating Four-Number or Three-Number Combination, respectively. Saturday night was the first time since June 14, 2017 that there were no repeating Four-Number or Three-Number Combinations. Just as well, for the Fourth of July has come and gone, and those who took mini-vacations are making their way back to work.

Lotto Texas

The {4-1-1} Pattern made its 160^th appearance with winning numbers 8, 33, 38, 43, 51, and 53.

This Pattern has now played in 10.9% of the 1462 drawings. Speaking of June 14^th, this was the last time the {4-1-1} Pattern was seen.

Now with 55 appearances, the 1 1 4 Specific Order has played in approximately 34.4% of the 160 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.76% of all 1462 drawings. Like the {4-1-1} Pattern, this Specific Order was also last seen in the June 14^th drawing.

Powerball

Making its 56^th appearance, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played in 30.4% of the 184 Powerball drawings. The winning numbers were 8, 10, 29, 40, 59, and PB 26.

This Pattern was last seen in the June 28, 2017 drawing; this was almost two weeks ago.

Next, the [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 22^nd appearance, and has played in 39.3% of the 56 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in approximately 12% of all 184 drawings. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, this General Order was last seen in the June 28^th drawing.

Other than the lack of repeating Three-Number Combinations, one of the biggest highlights of Powerball was the debut of the 2 0 2 0 1 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 4.55% of the 22 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 1.79% of the 56 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared and 0.54% of all drawings.

Will the cool down continue into next week, or will things heat up a bit?

Doubling Up

Time sure flies by! It’s hard to believe, but we’re almost halfway done with 2017. June 28^th was the last night of the month for both Lotto Texas and Powerball. How did they wrap it up? Well, Lotto Texas saw the Pattern and the Specific Order make an encore appearance. On the Powerball side of things, the Pattern and General Order previously played together earlier in the month, and there was a repeating Three-Number Combination.

Lotto Texas

With 758 appearances, the {3-2-1} is still tops among Lotto Texas Patterns. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 17, 24, 27, 41, 45, and 48.

This Pattern has played in 52% of the 1459 drawings.

The 1 2 3 Specific Order made its 140^th appearance, and has now played in 18.5% of the 758 drawings that the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.60% of all Lotto Texas drawings. Like the {3-2-1} Pattern, this Specific Order was last seen in the June 24, 2017 drawing.

Unlike the last two times the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 55^th appearance, with winning numbers 29, 37, 46, 53, 68, and PB 8.

This Pattern has played in 30.4% of all 181 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the June 10, 2017 drawing just a few weeks ago.

Making its 21^st appearance, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 38.2% of the 55 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.6% of all drawings. This General Order played alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in the June 10^th drawing.

Now with three appearances, the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in approximately 14.3% of the 21 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, and 5.45% of the 55 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 1.66% of all 181 drawings, and was last seen in the May 10, 2017 drawing.

The May 10^th drawing wasn’t just the last time the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order appeared; it was also the debut of the repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening: 29, 46, PB 8.

Will Saturday’s drawings for Lotto Texas and Powerball be a pre-Fourth fireworks show?

The Flag Day Smash

There is a US holiday in June, a little holiday called Flag Day. See, it falls on June 14^th every year, and it commemorates the adoption of the US flag on June 14, 1777. It wasn’t until the mid-twentieth century that Flag Day became a holiday. As much as USians love (US) football field-sized flags, explosions, chanting “USA! USA! USA!”, and explosions, Flag Day is a low-key affair there. Keeping with the Flag Day tradition, the Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings were low-key affairs the night of June 14, 2017. The {3-2-1} Pattern four-peat in Lotto Texas was smashed, not to mention that there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Powerball’s {2-2-1-1} Pattern didn’t get a chance to go for an encore, and there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations there, either. Yet, as low-key as the night was, there was an interesting development in Lotto Texas.

Lotto Texas

Wednesday night’s winning numbers were 11, 20, 37, 39, 44, and 49, bringing the number of appearances of the {4-1-1} Pattern to 159.

This Pattern has now played in 10.9% of the 1455 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen in the May 6, 2017 drawing.

The 1 1 4 Specific Order has now made 54 appearances, and has played in approximately 34% of the 159 drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.71% of all 1455 drawings. In an interesting turn of events, the 1 1 4 Specific Order was also last seen in the May 6^th drawing.

Powerball

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remained the most commonly seen Powerball Pattern. The winning numbers this time around were 5, 22, 43, 57, 63, and PB 24.

This Pattern has now appeared 64 times, and has played in 36.2% of the 177 Powerball drawings. The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern previously played in the June 3, 2017 drawing.

Making its 20^th appearance, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played in 31.25% of the 64 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.3% of all 177 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this General Order was last seen in the March 1, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 20% of the 20 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.25% of the 64 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.26% of all 177 drawings. The 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order was last seen in the May 14, 2016 drawing.

The summer solstice is nearly here. Will Lotto Texas and Powerball turn up the heat Saturday night, or will a new, low-key “streak” be established?

Fourth Time’s the Charm

A rare event occurred the night of June 10^th. Lotto Texas saw a Pattern make its fourth consecutive appearance. Concerning more “normal” affairs, there was a repeating Four-Number Combination. Powerball may not have seen Pattern encores or repeating Three-Number Combinations, but somebody won the $447.8 million jackpot.

Lotto Texas

For the fourth time in a row, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its presence known. The winning numbers were 2, 16, 18, 21, 42, and 53.

With 755 appearances, this Pattern has now played in 51.9% of the 1454 Lotto Texas drawings, and continues to be the most commonly played Pattern.

Making its 138^th appearance, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.3% of the 755 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 9.49% of all 1454 drawings. This Specific Order was last seen in the June 3, 2017 drawing exactly one week prior.

The repeating Four-Number Combination was 2, 18, 42, and 53. This Combination made its debut in the August 28, 2002 drawing.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 54^th appearance, with winning numbers 20, 26, 32, 38, 58, and PB 3.

This Pattern has now played in 30.7% of the 176 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the May 17, 2017 drawing from a few weeks ago.

Making its 20^th appearance, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in approximately 37% of the 54 drawings that the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 11.4% of all drawings. Prior to Saturday night, this General Order played in the May 10, 2017 drawing. This was exactly one month ago.

Last, but certainly not least, the 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order made its fourth appearance, and has now played in 20% of the 20 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 7.41% of the 54 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.27% of all drawings. The 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the December 14, 2016 drawing.
