The first five months of 2020 have been wild, to put it mildly. As of June 3, 2020, 380,000 lives have been lost globally to the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic, and protests for justice are taking place worldwide.

What happened to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbrey was murder. They are only three of the thousands of innocent black men, women, and children whose lives were taken by police brutality. For too long, black Americans have disproportionately felt the brunt of this injustice. It was on the backs of African slaves that the United States became the economic powerhouse that it is today. Their descendants have had to endure, and continue to endure, a system that sees them as second-class citizens at best.
There are 7.5 billion humans on this blue dot. We all bleed the same blood. There are things that transcend religion and race. We all want the best education for our kids, a roof over our heads, jobs that pay the bills and leave extra for saving, and food to eat. Above all, we all want justice, safety, and security.

To everyone else: Humanity is at the crossroads. We must decide if we want a peaceful, secure future for all, or a future ruled by strife, confusion, and fear, a future where lives are nasty, brutish, and short.
