The Mega Millions We Know

In the past few Mega Millions posts, we’ve been talking about how laid back it has been compared to what we saw last month. And, strangely, how it had matched the wild weather swings in the U.S. The April 20, 2018 drawing showed us that talks of a laid-back April may have been premature. With the month only two-thirds of the way done, it would do best to remember that anything can happen with these lotteries.

General Lottery Analysis

Mega Millions liked the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern so much that it played again Friday night! With winning numbers 1, 15, 18, 32, 45, and MB 4, this Pattern has played 154 times.

Could this encore be the beginning of a streak? Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Of the 351 Mega Millions drawings so far, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 43.9% of the time.

With 34 appearances, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 22.1% of the 154 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 9.69% of all 351 drawings. Prior to Friday night, we last saw this General Order on March 9, 2018.

Now with nine appearances, the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 26.5% of the 34 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.84% of the 154 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 2.56% of all 351 drawings. We last saw the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order on February 27, 2018.

Three Number Combination(s)

For the first time since the April 3rd drawing, we saw a repeating Three-Number Combination! The Combination was 15, 45, and MB 4.

This Combination made its debut in the February 24, 2015 drawing. While three years isn’t as legendary a gap as eighteen, or close to it, that’s still a good length of time.

As we hopefully start to put away the winter coats and start dreaming of white sand beaches, turquoise waters, and fireworks, will Mega Millions continue its path to warming up?

The Midweek Playback

The lottery world is a lot like the “real” one these days. Just as it’s been snow one day and warmth the next, it’s chilly Mega Millions followed by a joint effort by Lotto Texas and Powerball to warm things up. April 18, 2018 brought us the ultimate playback and the debut of a Specific Order.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas is hoppin’ mad for Australia Plays these days! It was just last week, April 11, 2018 to be precise, that we last saw one. With winning numbers 10, 14, 27, 32, 45, and 49, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played 214 times.

Given that there have been 1543 Lotto Texas drawings, the Australia Play has occurred in 13.9% of them.

Four-Number Combination(s)

This Australia Play didn’t come with repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of this past Saturday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern came back again, with winning numbers 9, 10, 12, 17, 23, and PB 9.

There have been 265 Powerball drawings so far, and this Pattern has played 6.79% of the time.

The [3-2-1] General Order also boarded the encore train, making its eighth appearance. This General Order has now played in 44.4% of the 18 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern and in 3.02% of all 265 drawings.

The 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order made its debut and has now played in 12.5% of the eight drawings where the [3-2-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 5.56% of the 18 drawings where the winning Pattern was {3-2-1}. Finally, when looking at all 265 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.38% of the time.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Even though Lotto Texas/Powerball nights have had more activity than Mega Millions these days, Powerball didn’t see any repeating Three-Number Combinations, either.

Will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to warm things up Saturday night? Will it be a night of encores and repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations?

Halfways

“Halfways” isn’t what you’d call a real word, but it is for today’s post. The mood for Mega Millions this month seems to be matching the weather. We’re just past the halfway mark for April, and we’re still talking about snowstorms! One day it’s warm enough for a T-shirt and the next day it’s blizzard warnings. It has been cold enough here in Houston for sweaters and light jackets, at least in the morning. For warm weather lovers up north who are just downright sick of the snow, fret not! It will get warmer. Eventually.

How does this relate to the April 17th Mega Millions drawing you wonder? In our last post, we highlighted a Pattern encore, the biggest event this month. On Tuesday night, all three-peat hopes were dashed. And we were teased with the possibility of a playback.

General Lottery Analysis

With 153 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern remains the most commonly seen Pattern. This time, the winning numbers were 12, 34, 44, 47, 65, and MB 22.

The calm state of Mega Millions continued. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in 43.7% of the 350 Mega Millions drawings and was last seen on April 6, 2018.

The [1-1-2-1-1] General Order made its 41st appearance and has played in 26.8% of the 153 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 11.7% of all 350 drawings. We also saw it play alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned April 6th drawing.

Now with ten appearances, the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 24.4% of the 41 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 6.54% of the 153 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-1-1-1-1}. Finally, when looking at all 350 drawings, the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.86% of the time. This Specific Order previously played in the February 16, 2018 drawing.

Close, but no cigar, playback lovers.

Three Number Combination(s)

The vacation from repeating Three-Number Combinations continued.

Will things warm up in Mega Millions Friday night?

A Change in Programming

April 14, 2018 was a night like no other. At least, not like any other we’ve seen in a while. There were a couple of commonalities between Lotto Texas and Powerball. One was that both lotteries saw one of their least commonly-seen Patterns.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 1, 2, 5, 29, 35, and 36, the {3-3} Pattern made its 130th appearance.

Given that there have been 1542 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in 8.43% of them, and was last seen on February 28, 2018.

Now with 39 appearances, the 3 3 0 Specific Order has played in 30% of the 130 drawings where {3-3} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 2.53% of all 1542 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, we last saw this Specific Order on April 19, 2017.

Four-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations this time.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 17th appearance with winning numbers 17, 19, 26, 61, 62, and PB 15.

This Pattern has played in 6.44% of the 264 Powerball drawings, and was last seen on March 10, 2018.

Note that unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, this version is one of the least-commonly played in Powerball.

With seven appearances, the [3-2-1] General Order has played in 41.2% of the 17 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 2.65% of all 264 drawings. We last saw the [3-2-1] General Order alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned March 10th drawing.

The 0 3 0 0 2 1 Specific Order made its second-ever appearance, meaning that this Specific Order has played in 28.6% of the seven drawings where the General Order of the evening was [3-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 11.8% of the 17 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 264 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.76% of the time. The 0 3 0 0 2 1 Specific Order made its debut in the November 29, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

For the past few months, at least one of the lotteries would have a repeating Combination bonanza, either of the Three-Number kind for Powerball, or the Four-Number kind for Lotto Texas. This is the first time since January 27, 2018 that there were no repeating Four-Number or Three-Number Combinations.

Will either the {3-3} Pattern or the (Powerball) {3-2-1} Pattern make an encore appearance Wednesday night?

(Not) Very Superstitious

It happened again! Exactly six months ago, we covered a Mega Millions drawing that happened on Friday the 13th. Triskaidekaphobics everywhere can now breathe a sigh of relief. But, for the triskaidekaphobes (and those who aren’t) who also play Mega Millions and live for Pattern encores, then Friday night was the night for you!

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 8, 9, 32, 42, 59, and MB 10, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 99th appearance.

Given that there have been 349 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has now played 28.4% of the time.

Fun fact: This Pattern also played in the October 13, 2017 drawing.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order, making its 35th appearance, has now played in 35.4% of the 99 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General order has also played in 10.0% of all 349 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the [2-2-1-1] General Order was last seen on January 23, 2018.

Now with five appearances, the 2 0 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 14.3% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [2-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.01% of the 99 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 1.43% of all 349 drawings. We last saw the 2 0 2 0 1 1 Specific Order in the February 3, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Three Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combinations weren’t too fond of the 13th.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go for the three-peat in Tuesday’s drawing?

Hot Wednesday

Contrasts! That’s been the theme of the month so far. Mega Millions has been much calmer as of late, with Lotto Texas and Powerball tag-teaming as they spice things up. These lotteries joined forces once again on April 11th. They helped us escape the mid-week doldrums with an Australia Play and  repeating Three and Four-Number Combinations.

A Chilly Trend?

Mega Millions kicked off this past weekend in a sleepy state. What with how cold it was over a sizable part of Lottery Trend Country, it fit the mood. Temperatures started to warm up, but the April 10th drawing was similar to what we saw last time. Although this is only the third drawing we’ve covered for April, what we’ve seen this month is a far cry from the madness of March.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 5, 13, 31, 43, 53, and MB 20, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 98th appearance.

Now with that said, this Specific Order has played in 12.9% of the 31 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. Will Mega Millions hit the snooze button Friday night, or will it jump out of bed, ready to take names?

Getting Back on the Bike

What makes riding a bike wonderful, aside from the exercise, is that you never forget how to ride one. Something similar happened on April 7, 2018. The {3-2-1} Pattern of Lotto Texas fame saw a Pattern encore. Powerball didn’t see one, but there were some rumblings amongst the Combinations.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of Wednesday night’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 803rd appearance with winning numbers 15, 18, 28, 31, 33, and 51.

Will the {3-2-1} Pattern go on to make a three-peat appearance in Wednesday’s drawing? Will Powerball continue to see repeating Three-Number Combinations?

Hibernation Mode?

With winter’s brief return this past week, Mega Millions decided to go into “hibernation mode”, so to speak. The April 6, 2018 drawing didn’t see a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore, nor an Australia Play. In fact, this past Friday was one of the quietest nights we’ve seen in a while.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 152nd appearance with winning numbers 16, 33, 51, 54, 67 and MB 20.

This General Order has also played in 11.5% of all 347 Patterns. It played alongside the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned March 27th drawing.

Could it be that Mega Millions saw a playback?

Now with nine appearances, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 22.5% of the 40 drawings where the General Order of the evening was [1-1-2-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.92% of the 152 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 347 drawings, the 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.59% of the time.

And now for the answer you’ve all been waiting for…

You ready for this?

The flicker of a playback was extinguished. The 0 1 1 2 1 1 Specific Order was last seen in the August 11, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 0 1 1 3 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Three Number Combination(s)

To fit the mood of the evening, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will things warm up for Mega Millions next week?

Pattern Come Lately

For the first time in a while, neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball saw an encore Pattern. The drawing for April 4th belong to the Australia Play and the most-commonly seen Pattern in Lotto Texas.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Three-Number Combination(s)

Alas, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either lottery see an encore in Saturday’s drawing, or will they take a breather from encores?
