How ‘Bout Them Encores?

Encores! It’s always nice when these guys pop up. If the Pattern you played last time shows up again, the first thing that probably comes to mind is “Woo hoo! Second chance!” Of course, it’s never that simple (C’mon! If you’ve been reading this blog, you know it’s not). Anyway, a Pattern encore came roaring through in the March 6th Mega Millions drawing. But, that wasn’t the only thing that got caught in the encore web.

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of Friday night, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 97th appearance, with winning numbers 1, 4, 26, 35, 39, and MB 22.

Of the 338 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 28.7% of them.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, also having just been seen last Friday, made its 30th appearance. This General Order has now played in 30.9% of the 97 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 8.88% of all 338 drawings.

Now with three appearances, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 10% of the 30 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. It has also played in 3.09% of the 97 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 338 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.89% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the December 26th, 2017 drawing.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and [2-1-2-1] General Order stick together for a Friday night encore?

In Like a {2-2-1-1}

Ah, March. Spring is coming soon, if it’s not here already, and there are many things to look forward to:

And of course, more Mega Millions coverage. Once again, it had the honor of kicking off a month (see February). Although March 2nd was quieter than what we saw lately, it wasn’t a sleepy night.

General Lottery Analysis

Friday night saw the 96th appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, with winning numbers 24, 28, 42, 60, 64, and MB 8.

{2-2-1-1} is the second-most common Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has now played in 28.5% of the 337 Mega Millions drawings. We last saw this Pattern on February 13, 2018.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, now with 29 appearances, has played in 30.2% of the 96 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 337 drawings, this General Order has played 8.61% of the time. Like the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the [2-1-2-1] General Order previously played on February 13th.

Could it be that Mega Millions kicked off the month with a playback? Let’s see what the Specific Order did.

With two appearances, the 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order has now played in 6.90% of the 29 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1].  This Specific Order has also played in 2.08% of the 96 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 0.59% of all 337 drawings. A playback wasn’t meant to be. The 0 2 1 0 2 1 Specific Order made its debut in the March 27, 2015 drawing. This was reconfigured from the  0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order seen that night, and the winning numbers were 17, 21, 36, 58, 70, and MB 3.

Three Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will Tuesday’s drawing feature a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore?

Springing into March

Maybe it’s a good thing that February is the shortest month of the year. It means that the wait for the seasons to change doesn’t seem as long, or at least that’s the hope! Mega Millions said “Farewell” to February with an interesting play February 27th. On the surface, it may not have been much. But, we here at Lottery Binge know better than to take things at face value.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 10, 17, 21, 38, 43, and MB 23, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 146th appearance, its first since February 16, 2018.

With 32 appearances, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played in 21.9% of the 146 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This statistic becomes 9.52% when looking at all 336 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order played on February 6, 2018.

Now with eight appearances, the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order played in 25% of the 32 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 5.48% of the 146 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Three Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 10, 38, 43.

There’s a bit more to this Combination. For one, it made its debut in the January 26, 2018 drawing. No big deal, right? Well, if you glance up at the previous section, January 26th was when we last saw the 1 2 1 1 0 1 Specific Order. The winning numbers were close, too. Don’t believe us? Check out that link again.

Will March start off with something wild, or will it be calm?

The 2nd Back for Seconds

Mega Millions has a history with the Olympics. It was during the Rio Olympics in 2016 that we saw a Pattern make six consecutive appearances. As the Winter Olympics begin to wrap up, Mega Millions wanted to reminisce. In fact, February 23, 2018’s drawing saw shades of an earlier time.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 66th appearance, with winning numbers 7, 11, 13, 19, 58, and MB 9.

Given that there have been 335 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 19.7% of them. Prior to Friday night, this Pattern played on February 2, 2018.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order, now with 23 appearances, has played in 34.8% of the 66 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. And, it was seen alongside the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in the earlier mentioned February 2nd drawing. When taking all 335 drawings into account, this General Order has played 6.87% of the time.

Now with three appearances, the 3 1 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 13% of the 23 drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 4.55% of the 66 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern appeared. Finally, when looking at all 335 drawings, this Specific Order has played 0.9% of the time. Three Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination, 7, 13, MB 9, also had shades of February.

Not just Patterns like February. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

More specifically, this Combination made its debut in the February 2, 2016 drawing.

Will Mega Millions end the month with a {3-1-1-1} encore, or will another Pattern appear?

Serve It Up Rare

Nothing else this month has come close to topping the madness of February 9th. At least, until the February 20, 2018 drawing. Instead of going for a heavy hitter like a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore, or even another similar spread, Mega Millions chose a different path. It’s not a commonly taken path, but it can yield great results.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 17, 19, 23, 24, 43, and MB 14, the rarely-seen {4-1-1} Pattern made its eighth appearance.

One of the rarest Mega Millions Patterns. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have now been 334 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played roughly 2.40% of the time. Prior to Tuesday, this Pattern played on December 12, 2017.

The [4-1-1] General Order made its fourth appearance and has played in half of the eight drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has played in roughly 1.20% of all 334 drawings and was last seen on March 28, 2017. This General Order was reconfigured from the [1-3-1-1] General Order seen that night. The winning numbers were 30, 33, 35, 37, 46, and MB 10.

Tuesday night saw the debut of the 0 4 0 1 0 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 25% of the 4 drawings where the [4-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 12.5% of the eight drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 334 drawings, the 0 4 0 1 0 1 Specific Order has played roughly 0.3% of the time.

Three Number Combination(s)

A rare Pattern was enough, it seems. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will Friday see a {4-1-1} repeat, or will another, more common Pattern take the spotlight?

The Comeback Combination

Compared to what we saw last week, February 16th was a calm night. The Pattern we saw was the one most often seen in Mega Millions. For the nearly two years Lottery Binge has been online, this Pattern is notorious for its Pattern streaks. And now, it can add a very special repeating Three-Number Combination.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 145th appearance with winning numbers 14, 38, 48, 53, 58, and MB 16.

With 38 appearances, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in 26.2% of the 145 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Now with nine appearances, the 1 0 1 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 23.7% of the 38 drawings where [1-1-2-1-1] was the General Order of the evening. This Specific Order has also played in 6.21% of the 145 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Out of the 333 drawings, this Specific Order has played 2.70% of the time. Here’s the fun part. This Combination made its debut in the February 6th drawing. That was only just ten days prior.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} make an encore in Tuesday’s drawing?

The Mardi Gras Cooldown

The February 13th Mega Millions drawing was much less rowdy than what we saw this past Friday. There was no similar spread, nor a repeating Four-Number Combination. Just as well on the latter, as those Combinations are more the domain of Lotto Texas. Tuesday night wasn’t completely quiet. One of the biggest events of the evening was a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The spirit of this past Friday lived on with an encore of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 5, 12, 15, 46, 49, and MB 1, this Pattern has now played 95 times.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern came back for more. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Now with three appearances, the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 10.7% of the 28 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.16% of the 95 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 0.90% of all 332 drawings. The 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on June 21st, 2016.

Will Mega Millions stay calm Friday night, or will there be another big bash?

May We See Your Combinations, Mega Millions?

Mardi Gras (“Fat Tuesday”) season is in full swing. It’s a time of grand parties, flashiness, King Cake, and bingeing. Of course, Mega Millions wanted in on the festivities. After all, it’s no stranger to being flashy. Pattern streaks, playbacks, and the similar spread are just a few tools in its arsenal. Not only was there a similar spread, there was a repeating Four-Number Combination as well. That was not a typo. With this insane mishmash of (repeating) Combinations and a similar spread, we can say without hesitation that February 9, 2018 was one of the grandest nights we’ve analyzed.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 28, 34, 41, 46, 47, and MB 14, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played 94 times.

A lot of things can happen with just six numbers. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 331 drawings, this Pattern has played in 28.4% of them, and was last seen on January 23, 2018.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order made its 33rd appearance and has played in 35.1% of the 94 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has now played in 9.97% of all 331 drawings. Prior to Friday night, we saw the [1-2-2-1] General Order on January 9, 2018.

Now with six appearances, the 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 18.2% of the 33 drawings where [1-2-2-1] was the General Order of the evening. This Specific Order has also appeared in 6.38% of the 94 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-2-1-1}. Finally, when taking all 331 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.81% of the time. The 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the October 6, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Spread ‘Em

A similar spread happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Friday night’s numbers are 06:07:05:01. This is similar to the spread that occurred in the May 12, 2017 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 28, 34, 41, 42, 47, and MB 13, and the spread was 06:07:01:05.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Repeating Four-Number Combinations aren’t all that common in Mega Millions. The lone Combination was 28, 34, 41, and 47.

Like snow in Florida. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This made its debut in the May 12, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

The thing about repeating Four-Number Combinations is that there are repeating Three-Number Combinations rolled up inside. Four of them to be precise:

  • 28, 34, 41
  • 28, 34, 47
  • 34, 41, 47
  • 28, 41, 47

These four Combinations debuted alongside “mother” Combination 28, 34, 41, and 47 in the May 12th drawing mentioned earlier.

These weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations of the evening!

The real Mardi Gras is this coming Tuesday. Will Mega Millions keep the momentum going?

It Coulda Been a Playback

One would be tempted to think that Playback Fever would spread to Mega Millions in the February 6th drawing. After all, Lotto Texas and “sister” lottery Powerball saw playbacks this past Saturday. Right before the Super Bowl, no less! As the title hinted, it was close, but it just wasn’t meant to be. There were a couple of things that played together on a previous date. Tuesday night was also a good night for repeating Three-Number Combination lovers.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 14, 17, 25, 48, 58, and MB 25, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 144th appearance.

No playback this time. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 330 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 43.6% of them. We last saw this Pattern January 26, 2018.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, now with 31 appearances, has played in 21.5% of the 144 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. And, it accompanied said Pattern in the earlier-mentioned January 26th drawing. When looking at all 330 drawings, this General Order has played 9.39% of the time.

So that means the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order wasn’t seen in the January 26th drawing. Believe it or not, this Specific Order played in the January 19, 2018 drawing, exactly one week prior. Now with eight appearances, this Specific Order has played in 25.8% of the 31 drawings where [1-2-1-1-1] was the General Order, and in roughly 5.56% of the 144 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 330 drawings, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.42% of the time.

Three Number Combination(s)

There were two repeating Three-Number Combinations, one of which has played twice before.

  • 14, 17, 48 (Debuted April 26, 2016)

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Friday’s drawing? Could there even be a playback?

An Encore for Groundhog Day

In our last Mega Millions post, we asked if a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore would start off February. Well, Mega Millions delivered Friday night. February 2nd also took on another meaning here in the States: Groundhog Day. Our focus of course is on that Pattern encore, and it wasn’t the only big thing that happened.

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 65th appearance, with winning numbers 1, 4, 14, 17, 40, and MB 4.

With 329 Mega Millions drawings so far, this Pattern has played 19.8% of the time.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern wasn’t the only thing that saw an encore Friday night! Now with 22 appearances, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has now played in 33.8% of the 65 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 329 drawings, this General Order has played 6.69% of the time.

We now come to the 3 1 1 0 0 1 Specific Order, which has now played three times. Given the 22 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, this Specific Order has played 13.6% of the time. Looking at the 65 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, the Specific Order has played in 4.62% of them. Finally, when taking all 329 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 0.91% of the time. Unlike the [3-1-1-1] General Order and the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, the 3 1 1 0 0 1 Specific Order did not make an encore. Prior to Friday night, this Specific Order was last seen in the May 19, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 3 2 0 0 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.
