Revenge of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern

Another Mega Millions drawing, another rise in the jackpot. After the June 19th drawing, the prize is now $192 million! Like we saw in the June 15th analysis, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern didn’t stay down for long. In today’s analysis, we saw that this Pattern made an encore. But, as we’ve seen in the past, there was more under the hood than “just” the encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The winning numbers for June 19, 2018 were 11, 13, 28, 65, 70, and MB 14, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern to 106.

Given that there have been 368 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.8% of the time.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 35th appearance and has now played in 33% of the 106 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.51% of all 368 drawings. In our analysis, it was discovered that the [2-1-2-1] General Order played alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in this past Friday’s drawing.

Now with three appearances, the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 8.57% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.83% of the 106 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 368 drawings, the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 0.82% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the July 25, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order seen that night. The winning numbers from that drawing were 2, 5, 26, 58, 60, and MB 6.

Three Number Combination(s)

There was no repeating Three-Number Combination this time.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go on to a three-peat Friday? Could the jackpot crack the $200 million barrier?

The Unassuming {2-2-1-1} Pattern

The Mega Millions gods decided it was time for a breather. After a first half of the month filled with Pattern encores and uncommon Patterns, June 15, 2018 was markedly different. There was one consistency though. The jackpot has risen once again, and now stands at $175 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 105th appearance with winning numbers 1, 11, 37, 47, 51, and MB 6.

Given that there have been 367 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.6% of the time. Prior to Friday night, this Pattern was last seen on June 8, 2018. Interestingly, had the {2-2-1-1} Pattern also played this past Tuesday, we could have been looking at a “four-peat”.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, with its 34th appearance, has now played in 32.4% of the 105 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.26% of all 367 drawings and was last seen on May 29, 2018.

Now with five appearances, the 2 0 1 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 14.7% of the 34 drawings where [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.76% of the 105 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 367 drawings, the 2 0 1 2 0 1 Specific Order has played 1.36% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order on April 10, 2018.

Three Number Combination(s)

To keep with the theme of a low-key night, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern try again in establishing a Pattern streak next week?

The 4-1-1 on the {4-1-1} Pattern

Any hopes for a {2-2-1-1} Pattern streak were dashed in the June 12th drawing. Additionally, there was no jackpot winner, and the prize now stands at $161 million. Nonetheless, Mega Millions saw a shake up, and Lottery Binge has the 4-1-1 on Tuesday’s drawing. For starters, there were a couple of 4-1-1’s.

General Lottery Analysis

The first 4-1-1, of course, was the {4-1-1} Pattern. Its tenth appearance was thanks to winning numbers 1, 3, 5, 8, 70 and MB 3.

As of the 366th Mega Millions drawing, this Pattern has played 2.73% of the time. The {4-1-1} Pattern was last seen on May 4, 2018.

The second 4-1-1 was the [4-1-1] General Order. With its sixth appearance, this General Order has now played in 60% of the ten drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 366 drawings, this General Order has played 1.64% of the time. Fun fact: The [4-1-1] General Order played alongside the {4-1-1} Pattern in the earlier-mentioned May 4th drawing.

Tuesday’s drawing saw the debut of the 4 0 0 0 1 1 Specific Order. With that said, this Specific Order has played in roughly 16.7% of the six drawings where the General Order was [4-1-1]. This Specific Order has also now played in 10% of the ten drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.27% of all 366 drawings.

Three Number Combination(s)

Nothing like a repeating Three-Number Combination to keep things “shook up”! The lone Combination was 1, 5, 8.

This Combination made its debut in the September 23, 2016 drawing.

Will there be another shakeup in Friday’s drawing? Could the {4-1-1} Pattern be daring enough to make an encore?

The Oddities of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern

In the last Mega Millions post, the question was whether the {2-2-1-1} Pattern would make an encore, or if something unexpected would happen.

The results of the June 8th lottery analysis pointed to…both.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern not only made an encore, there were a few other surprises. That, combined with a jackpot now at $144 million, has turned up the heat in Mega Millions.

General Lottery Analysis

The 104th appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 14, 30, 33, 44, 56, and MB 13.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore wasn’t alone. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 365 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.5% of the time. Remember, it was just this past Tuesday when this Pattern last appeared.

The encore appearance of the [1-2-2-1] General Order brought its total number of appearances up to 36. This General Order has now played in 34.6% of the 104 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 365 drawings, this General Order has played 9.86% of the time.

Despite the Pattern and General Order encores, this did not hold true for the Specific Order. Now with three appearances, the 1 0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 8.33% of the 36 drawings where [1-2-2-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 2.88% of the 104 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.82% of all 365 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this Specific Order was seen on December 2nd, 2016. This was a little over 18 months ago.

A span of a year-and-a-half between Specific Order play dates is interesting, but it pales in comparison to what else took place Friday night.

Four-Number Combination

The header is not a typo. A repeating Four-Number Combination really did take place, and that Combination was 14, 30, 33, and 44!

This Combination made its debut two years ago in the May 12th, 2015 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Naturally, a repeating Four-Number Combination is never alone. Inside it are four repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 14, 30, 33
  • 14, 30, 44
  • 30, 33, 44
  • 14, 33, 44

And, like the “mother” repeating Four-Number Combination, these Combinations made their debut in the earlier-mentioned May 12th drawing.

With rising temperatures (and a rising jackpot), will Tuesday’s drawing see a {2-2-1-1} Pattern “three-peat” packed with repeating Combinations of the Three and Four-Number kind?

A More “Normal” Approach by the {2-2-1-1} Pattern

Compared to the Pattern streak that happened last month and the playback that happened last time, Tuesday’s drawing was comparatively “normal”. So “normal” in fact that no one got all six numbers in the June 5th drawing. With the jackpot now standing at $125 million, what exactly happened Tuesday night?

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 103rd appearance with 22, 33, 41, 48, 52, and MB 4.

This Pattern has now played in 28.3% of the 364 Mega Millions drawings and was last seen on  May 29th, 2018. For those of you out there new to the Lottery Binge experience, “364” refers to the number of drawings that use the “regular” 1-70 and Mega Balls 1-25. The change went into effect at the end of October 2017. This was changed from an earlier system.

With its 35th appearance, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in roughly 34% of the 103 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.62% of all 364 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order played on April 27th, 2018.

Now with seven appearances, the 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 20% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-2-1]. This Specific Order also played in 6.80% of the 103 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.92% of all 364 drawings. The 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on February 9th, 2018.

Three Number Combination(s)

Despite the “normality”, there were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 33, 52, MB 4 (Debuted January 21st, 2014)

As Mega Millions continues to settle into June, will Friday’s drawing see a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore, or something unexpected?

It’s *Just* the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, Right?

June 1st has come and gone, and Mega Millions had the “honor” of starting the month. With the jackpot now standing at $110 million, could this be a buildup to an insanely large one later this summer? Time will tell.

Now, the title of today’s post has a mild spoiler. Yes, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern played, but “So what?” you wonder. Well, it is the most commonly seen Mega Millions Pattern by a good margin. That, and when this Pattern plays, there’s usually something more behind it.

General Lottery Analysis

The 161st appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern featured winning numbers 5, 24, 52, 62, 66, and MB 17.

This Pattern has now played in 44.4% of the 363 Mega Millions drawings.

Moving onto the General Order, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 38th appearance. This General Order has now played in 23.6% of the 161 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 10.5% of all 363 drawings.

Now with three appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 7.89% of the 38 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 1.86% of the 161 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.83% of all 363 drawings.

Summer is a time of blockbusters, competition shows, and whatnot, but there’s another thing that it’s famous for, or was. For all you older readers out there, remember when all the TV shows had aired their last episodes of the season (or ever), and there was nothing but repeats? Some things repeat, or at least rhyme. Earlier in the week, Mega Millions had a playback with a different Pattern-General Order-Specific Order group. There was another, this time with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order, and the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order. These three were last seen a couple of weeks ago in the May 18, 2018 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Amidst all the excitement of yet another playback, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore, or better yet, will a playback occur in Tuesday’s drawing?

Playback: A Mega Millions Story

With the summer blockbuster season comes sequels, prequels, and “interquels”. Mega Millions borrowed from the Hollywood playbook and released a sequel in the May 29th drawing. As of this post, the jackpot now stands at $97 million. Sequel-itis has also hit the basketball world. Thursday night will be the beginning of the saga known as the NBA finals, a.k.a. “Cavaliers vs. Warriors: Part IV”.  What a way to end the month, eh?

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of this past Friday, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 102nd appearance! The winning numbers this time were 2, 11, 55, 58, 67, and MB 2.

Sequels are a part of life. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

As of this post, there have been 362 Mega Millions drawings, and this Pattern has played in 28.2% of them.

Next up is the [2-1-2-1] General Order. With 33 appearances, this General Order has played in 32.4% of the 102 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.12% of all 362 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order was also seen in this past Friday’s drawing.

Why should the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and the [2-1-2-1] General Order have all the fun? The 2 0 0 1 2 1 Specific Order showed up in this past Friday’s drawing, too. Now with seven appearances, this Specific Order has played in 21.2% of the 33 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 6.86% of the 102 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 362 drawings, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played 1.93% of the time.

With the encore powers of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the [2-1-2-1] General Order and the 2 0 0 1 2 1 Specific Order combined, we get the playback.

Three Number Combination(s)

The night couldn’t be complete without a repeating Three-Number Combination, right? The lone repeating Combination was 11, 58, and 67.

This Combination made its debut in the October 31st, 2014 drawing.

Summertime is when Mega Millions likes to go for the big plays, like the playback we just discussed. Pattern streaks are a thing, too. Will June start with a big play?

Commemorating {2-2-1-1}

May 25th, or that evening that least, kicked off the Memorial Day weekend. It’s traditionally seen as the start of the summer season here in the U.S. and for some lucky students, it is! What better way to take your mind off the heat than a trip to the beach or chilling by the pool? Heck, win the lottery and you could buy a lake house or two. Thing is, nobody won Friday’s jackpot, and it’s now at $84 million. But, the night wasn’t uneventful.

General Lottery Analysis

This Specific Order has also played in 5.94% of the 101 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 361 drawings, this Specific Order has played in 1.66% of them. We last saw the 2 0 0 1 2 1 Specific Order on August 23rd, 2016.

Three Number Combination(s)

There were two repeating Three-Number Combinations that night:

Will Mega Millions say “Adios” to May with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore, or will another Pattern end the month?

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Streak Blocker

Some things seemed inevitable May 22nd. The Rockets were sure to lose against the Warriors (hint: they didn’t), and the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was going to make a fifth consecutive appearance. After all, this Pattern is comfortable with “five-peats”, if you will. “Six-peats”, even. But, the streak was blocked (and the jackpot climbed). Which Pattern knocked the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern off its perch? And were there any repeating Three-Number Combinations?

General Lottery Analysis

The Pattern for May 22, 2018 was {3-1-1-1}. With winning numbers 16, 17, 21, 36, 48, and MB 9, this Pattern has now played 69 times.

Now with five appearances, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 20.8% of the 24 drawings where the General Order was [3-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 7.25% of the 69 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 360 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.39% of the time. We last saw the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order on June 16, 2017. This was reconfigured from the 0 4 1 0 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

What good is a streak smasher without repeating Three-Number Combinations, right? There were in fact three of them:

Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore Friday night, or will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern try to re-establish a streak?

The Month of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is one that does not step aside easily! May isn’t over, and summer hasn’t officially started yet, but that didn’t stop the Pattern from achieving blockbuster returns, even if there was no winner (jackpot now at $60 million). With the May 18, 2018 drawing, it has now played four times in a row. Looking back on the month so far, there has been only one drawing where this Pattern didn’t appear.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 9, 26, 53, 64, 66, and MB 11, this Pattern has now played 160 times.

Three Number Combination(s)

Friday night’s drawing made for another first. This is the first drawing with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern that didn’t feature a repeating Three-Number Combination.

With one week to go before Memorial Day, and with summer vacation countdowns in full-swing, will Tuesday’s Mega Millions see a “five-peat” for {2-1-1-1-1}?
