October Heat

The calendar may say “Autumn”, but the summer heat lingers on here in Houston. Sure, it’s not blistering hot, but it’s not exactly pumpkin spice latte weather, either. Mega Millions didn’t get the calendar hint, and things are heating up! There was no grand prize winner October 2nd and the jackpot is now $405 million! There was also a Pattern encore and shades of August past.

General Lottery Analysis

Mega Millions loved the {3-1-1-1} Pattern so much that it made an encore! The 78th appearance of the Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 2, 22, 29, 31, 34, and MB 1.

The Mega Millions jackpot has gone sky high. Will someone win that coveted grand prize Friday night, or will the jackpot sore even more?

Mega Millions’ September Heights

September for Mega Millions started with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak. After appearing five times in a row, it was “dethroned” by another Pattern. Since that night, other Patterns took the reins, none of them able to establish a streak, let alone an encore.

September 28th was no different. Friday night saw yet another unique Pattern and a soaring jackpot, now standing at $367 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 39, 45, 52, 56, 59, and MB 15, the {3-1-1-1} made its 397th appearance.

Going into October, we’re looking at a large grand prize and no Pattern streaks. Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore? Will someone walk away at least $367 million richer? We’ll just have to wait until Tuesday night.

Changing of the Patterns

A {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern “six-peat” wasn’t meant to be in the September 18, 2018 drawing. The changing of the Patterns didn’t just end a Pattern streak, it brought with it another rise in the jackpot. With the grand prize now a robust $275 million, Mega Millions continues to soar.

Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing will be the last Mega Millions drawing of the summer, or winter if you’re reading from the Southern Hemisphere. With no Pattern streak, September 21st will certainly keep us on our toes. Will the grand prize continue to soar, or will it be brought back down to Earth?

A change of seasons comes a change of bloggers. Romulun Harris, one of our Mega Millions analysts, will be your guide for Friday and next Tuesday’s drawings. I’ll be out of town for a business trip.

Five Punch Pattern

Nothing like a Mega Millions drawing to kick off the weekend, right? September 14th, much like last time, kept a stiff upper lip and did nothing showy. As of Friday night, the grand prize is now $252 million. Thankfully, jackpots don’t depend on flash and pizzazz! And neither do Pattern streaks.

Considering the gravitas associated with this day, it was fitting that Mega Millions toned things down. To kick off the weekend, the September 7th drawing brought us a three-peat for the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern and a grand prize now at $207 million.

Will next week see the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for a “four-peat”, or will another Pattern take the reins?

The September Climb

Summer’s over.

Okay, technically there are a few weeks left, but in terms of summer holidays and summer blow-out parties, those days are gone until next year. Traditionally, schools opened their doors after Labo(u)r Day across the U.S., but many schools did so at least a couple of weeks before. This week is for the last hold-outs of summer. To honor the passing of summer, Mega Millions started “the climb” on September 4th. That “climb” was to a crazy large jackpot. Tuesday night saw the grand prize rise to $187 million, among other things.

General Lottery Analysis

One of those things concerned the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. More specifically, this Pattern was loved so much that it made an encore! With winning numbers 2, 7, 25, 35, 44, and MB 3, it made its 170th appearance.

Could the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern go for the three-peat Friday night? Will the Mega Millions jackpot continue to climb upwards?

The Friday Night August Finale

The numbers have spoken. With the end of the month coinciding with a holiday weekend (US/Canada), one would not be at fault thinking that the occasion would be marked by something grand. After all, Labo(u)r Day is the unofficial end to summer. You have to go out with a bang, yes? A {3-1-1-1} Pattern three-peat would have been fitting, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be. Instead, the August 31st Mega Millions drawing offered up a rising jackpot, now at $167 million, and the lottery’s most commonly seen Pattern.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 7, 18, 29, 32, 45, and MB 17, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 169 times.
