The One-Two Encore Slam

History may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme! When it came to Patterns, Saturday night looked similar to what we saw this past Wednesday. April 17, 2021 featured encores for both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Additionally, their jackpots rose to $11 million and $90 million, respectively.

Spring is in full swing and COVID-19 vaccinations are under way. Mega Millions Hops into the Weekend

March 26, 2021 saw a shift in the Patterns. Instead of an encore from the most commonly seen Pattern, we saw a visit from one that’s not so commonly seen. That is, we shifted from the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern. With the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern came the ever-wonderful Australia Play! The jackpot bounded away from the players and increased to $152 million.

This post is a tale about Lotto Texas and Powerball, two lotteries that couldn’t be any more different. Lotto Texas is the quieter, statelier lottery. Its prizes are often kept in a respectable range. Powerball is brash, in-your-face, and sometimes resorts to extreme measures to get attention.

The first full week of 2021 has been one for the history books, to put it mildly. Lottery-wise, hundreds of millions of dollars are now up for grabs in both Mega Millions and Powerball.
