Resting Up for December

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it’s now time to put up those Christmas decorations (it’s never too early!) and get your shop on. Lotto Texas and Powerball weren’t up for that. November 29th was one of their quieter nights. That is, if you were to just look at the numbers. One important lesson when analyzing or playing the lottery it’s to never assume.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

In our last Lotto Texas post, we stated that, “All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.” True to form, an Australia Play made its 203rd appearance! With winning numbers 6, 12, 30, 33, 45, and 51, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 13.5% of the 1503 Lotto Texas drawings.

Would you believe that an Australia Play was what kicked off November this year?

Four-Number Combination(s)

Believe it or not, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations. Apparently, Lotto Texas thought copying Mega Millions’s “Finish the month the way you started” move was enough excitement.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball didn’t see an Australia Play, but it did see an uncommon Pattern. The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 13th appearance with winning numbers 24, 26, 28, 59, 63, and PB 16.

*This* {3-2-1} Pattern is rare. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

Given that there have been 225 drawings in Powerball, this Pattern has played 5.78% of the time. We last saw the {3-2-1} Pattern in the November 18th, 2017 drawing.

Making its third appearance was the [3-2-1] General Order. It has played in 23.1% of the 13 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 1.33% of all 225 drawings. Prior to Wednesday, this General Order played February 18th, 2017.

There was, in fact, a new Specific Order: 0 3 0 0 2 1. With that said, this Specific Order has now played in 33.3% of the three drawings where the [3-2-1] General Order has appeared. The 0 3 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has also played in 7.69% of the 13 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.44% of all 225 drawings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern start December with an encore?

Numbers to Go

Another Thanksgiving weekend has come and gone. People took to the skies and roads once again on November 25th, wanting to beat the mad rush home that would surely await them if they left Sunday. Lotto Texas sent along a playback. That is, both the Pattern and Specific Order were seen together on a previous date. Meanwhile, Powerball ran into a Pattern encore.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern made its 780th appearance in Saturday’s drawing, with winning numbers 7, 10, 12, 22, 44, and 51.

Serving the most commonly seen Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

This Pattern has played in 51.9% of the 1502 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen on November 8, 2017.

Now with 144 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.5% of the 780 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.59% of all 1502 drawings. As is the nature of a playback, this Specific Order accompanied the {3-2-1} Pattern November 8th. Note that a playback is not an Australia Play. Remember that with the latter, both the Pattern and the Specific Order would be the same. For Lotto Texas, that would be the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order, respectively.

Here’s a good rule of thumb to abide by: All Australia Plays are playbacks, but not all playbacks are Australia Plays.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Among Saturday’s numbers was the repeating Four-Number Combination 7, 10, 12, 22.

This Combination made its debut in the December 30, 2015 drawing. Could Lotto Texas end the year with a repeating Four-Number Combination just like it did two years ago?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Right off the heels of Wednesday’s drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 69th appearance. This time, the winning numbers were 8, 13, 27, 53, 54, and PB 4.

This Pattern has now played in 30.8% of the 224 Powerball drawings.

With 23 appearances, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has now played in 33.33% of the 69 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 10.3% of all 224 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, it was last seen in the November 4, 2017 drawing.

Making its fourth appearance was the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order.  This Specific Order has now played in 17.4% of the 23 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in roughly 5.8% of the 69 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 224 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.79% of the time. The 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order accompanied the [2-1-2-1] General Order in the November 4th drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Saturday’s Powerball drawing produced the repeating Three-Number Combination 8, 53, and 54.

Will there be more Pattern encores to end the month?

Rare Patterns, Not Rare Turkey

With a few more days to go before Thanksgiving, November 18th got into the business of Patterns. Rare Patterns. Both Lotto Texas and Powerball got together and served up the treats for rare Pattern lovers everywhere. Once more, it appeared that Lotto Texas had most of the fun. But, Powerball couldn’t be counted out completely.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 1, 4, 5, 8, 12, and 26, the {5-1} Pattern made its 54th appearance.

Six numbers and a rare Pattern. Source: lotterytrend.com.

The appearance of this Pattern is a double whammy, it being a rare Pattern for one. The other being that Saturday night’s drawing was the 1500th drawing with numbers 1-54. With that said, the {5-1} Pattern has played a whopping 3.6% of the time. Believe it or not, it wasn’t that long ago that this Pattern was last seen. It made an appearance in the August 5th, 2017 drawing.

Now with eight appearances, the 5 1 0 Specific Order has played in 14.8% of the 54 drawings where the {5-1} Pattern has played. This Specific Order has also played in 0.53% of all 1500 drawings, and previously played in the March 25th, 2015 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

It wasn’t enough for a rare Pattern to show itself. There had to be a repeating Four-Number Combination, too! The Combination of the evening was 1, 8, 12, 26, and it made its debut in the July 2nd, 2016 drawing.

And out of those six numbers came a repeating Four-Number Combination. Source: lotterytrend.com.

What was Powerball’s rare Pattern?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern may reign supreme in Lotto Texas, but that’s certainly not the case in Powerball. Here, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its twelfth appearance, with winning numbers 17, 28, 31, 32, 39, and PB 26.

{3-2-1} in Powerball is a rare sight. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has played in the 222 Powerball drawings to date, and previously played in the October 4th, 2017 drawing.

That was also the last time we saw the [2-3-1] General Order. Now with 10 appearances, this General Order has played in roughly 83.3% of the 12 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. It has also played in 4.50% of all 222 drawings.

Now with its third appearance, the 0 2 3 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 30% of the ten drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. It has also played in 25% of the twelve drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.35% of all 222 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, this Specific Order was last seen in the January 4th, 2017 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Even with a rare Pattern, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will there be Pattern encores in Wednesday’s drawing?

Common or Not Common?

That is the question. The {3-2-1} Pattern made an appearance in the November 14, 2017 Mega Millions drawing. Those of you who follow our Lotto Texas posts know that the {3-2-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen there. But what of Mega Millions? Sure, the {3-2-1} Pattern doesn’t play as much as the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern (The King of Mega Millions Patterns), but it has a respectable showing. Right?

General Lottery Analysis

Well, when it comes to number of appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern doesn’t even come close to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Nor the {2-2-1-1} Pattern for that matter. With winning numbers 1, 14, 21, 22, 28, and MB 19, Tuesday’s drawing marked the 14th appearance of the Pattern. How fitting!

Given that there have been 306 drawings in the 70-25 system, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 4.58% of the time. This Pattern was last seen in the April 21, 2017 drawing.

Making its sixth appearance was the [2-3-1] General Order. This has now played in 42.9% of the 14 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.96% of all 306 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order was seen on January 6, 2017. We reconfigured this General Order from the [2-1-2-1] General Order from that night.

The 2 0 0 3 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut. It has now played in roughly 16.67% of the six drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also now played in 7.14% of the 14 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.33% of all 306 drawings.

Will the {3-2-1} be daring enough to make an encore Friday night?

Stuck on Repeat

Encore. Three-peat. Four-peat. What do these words have in common? They scream “back-to-back”, that’s what! November 8th was a good night for those who love seeing Pattern encores. How good?

There was a double-serving.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

In our last Lotto Texas/Powerball post, we mentioned the latter’s love of repetition. It was so fond of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern that it played for the third time in a row. This time, the winning numbers were 12, 14, 20, 21, 34, and PB 22.

With 67 appearances, this Pattern has been seen in 30.6% of the 219 Powerball drawings.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order made its 25th appearance. It has now played in 37.3% of the 67 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This statistic becomes 11.4% when looking at all 219 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this General Order was last seen November 1st, 2017.

Now with four appearances, the 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 16% of the 25 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order appeared. When looking at the 67 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared, the statistic becomes 5.97%. Finally, when taking all 219 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.83% of the time. The 2 2 1 0 0 1 Specific Order was last seen in the December 3rd, 2016 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Although Powerball gave way to a Pattern three-peat, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {3-2-1} and the {2-2-1-1} Patterns stick together for Saturday night?

On Opposite Sides

Lotto Texas and Powerball stood on opposite sides of the world. October 4th saw the {3-2-1} Pattern for both lotteries. Yet, it couldn’t be more different. For Lotto Texas, this is the King of Patterns. In Powerball, it’s just a quiet bystander. However, that doesn’t mean the quiet ones are always quiet. Something else was brewing in Powerball.

Lotto Texas

Lotto Texas loved the {3-2-1} Pattern so much that it played again. This time around, the winning numbers were 13, 17, 20, 29, 30, and 44.

This Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1487 Lotto Texas drawings.

Meanwhile, the 2 3 1 Specific Order made its 127th appearance. It has now played in 16.4% of the 774 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.54% of all 1487 drawings. The 2 3 1 Specific Order was seen alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in this past Saturday’s drawing.

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern made its eleventh appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 22, 23, 62, 63, 66, and PB 24.

This Pattern has played in 5.26% of the 209 Powerball drawings, and previously played on September 27, 2017, exactly one week prior.

With nine appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in 81.8% of the 11 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 4.31% of all 209 Powerball drawings, and played alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern on September 27th.

Now with its second-ever appearance, the 0 2 0 0 3 1 Specific Order has played in 22.2% of the 9 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 18.2% of the 11 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 209 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 0.96% of the time. The 0 2 0 0 3 1 Specific Order made its debut earlier this year. More specifically, in the January 25, 2017 drawing.

Will these Patterns be seen again Saturday night, or will other Patterns have their turn?

End the Month with a Common Pattern (or Two)

September has come and gone. With seventy-five percent of the year gone, the holiday season is right around the corner, and it’s never too early to get a head start on the Christmas shopping list, right? On the lottery side of things, September 30th wasn’t a blowout for either Lotto Texas or Powerball. However, the night was far from “boring”.

Will there be Pattern encores and rare plays for Lotto Texas and Powerball this October?

Hopping Along with a Callback

Autumn, of course, is when temperatures start to cool down. The term “Cool down” didn’t apply to either Lotto Texas or Powerball. To commemorate the first full week of autumn, there was an Australia Play and a callback to a drawing from right before Harvey. Question is, which pattern saw what play the night of September 27th?

Lotto Texas

The {2-2-2} Pattern bounded its way to its 199th appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 2, 6, 26, 32, 42, and 49.

An Australia Play to start autumn. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Now, given that was an Australia Play, the 2 2 2 Specific Order also made its 199th appearance. Both have now played in 13.4% of the 1485 Lotto Texas drawing, and previously played on July 15, 2017.

Powerball

Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern is rare indeed. Out of 207 drawings, this Pattern made its 10th appearance Wednesday. The winning numbers for the big 1-0 were 8, 10, 21, 23, 25, and PB 22.

A not-so-common Pattern shined Wednesday night. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Pattern has now played in 4.83% of the 207 drawings.

With eight appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in 80% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.86% of all 207 drawings.

Now with two appearances, the 2 3 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 8 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, and in 20% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in roughly one percent of all 207 drawings.

Powerball’s Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were all seen together in the August 23, 2017 drawing!

Technically speaking, an Australia Play is a callback. On this blog, the term will be used to describe an occurrence of a Pattern, General Order (when applicable), and Specific Order that played together in a previous drawing, and are not part of an Australia Play.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the lone Three-Number Combination of the evening: 8, 10, and PB 22.

Will Saturday’s drawing see more callbacks? Will both Lotto Texas and Powerball see the {3-2-1} Pattern?

The 4-1-1 on Major Plays

There were no encores for either Lotto Texas or Powerball the night of September 16th. Yet, it was far from a quiet night. Although Lotto Texas saw a repeating Four-Number Combination, it was Powerball that saw the biggest play of the evening. One of the biggest was the appearance of a Pattern so rare that it had only played twice before, and made one player $133 million richer.

Lotto Texas

With winning numbers 4, 9, 18, 36, 40, and 41, the {3-2-1} Pattern made its 772nd appearance.

This Pattern has now played in 52.1% of the 1482 Lotto Texas drawings, and was seen in the September 9th drawing exactly one week ago.

Making its 142nd appearance was the 3 1 2 Specific Order, which has now played in 18.4% of the 772 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 9.58% of the 1482 drawings to date, and previously played on September 6th, 2017.

This Combination made its debut in the August 6th, 2016 drawing. Compared to most repeating Four-Number Combinations we’ve discussed, this one is recent.

Powerball

For the third time ever, the {4-1-1} Pattern played in Powerball! The winning numbers were 17, 18, 24, 25, 31, and PB 24.

This Pattern has now played in 1.47% of the 204 Powerball drawings. We last saw this Pattern over a year ago. More specifically, the August 17th, 2016 drawing.

With its second appearance, the [4-1-1] General Order has played in 67% of the three drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has played, and in 0.98% of all 204 drawings. This General Order made its debut in the April 13th, 2016 drawing.

Making its world debut in Powerball was the 0 4 1 0 0 1 Specific Order. This Specific Order has now played in 50% of the two drawings where the [4-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 33% of the three drawings where the {4-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 0.49% of all 204 drawings.

So far, it looks like Lotto Texas and Powerball are getting ready for a big send-off to summer. Will the momentum continue into next week?

A Night of Whammies

We got lucky. Taken the Sunday after the storm.

The storms produced by Harvey on August 26th knocked out our electricity, and we got our power back just a few hours ago. Our street flooded, and we didn’t get any water in the house, thankfully. However, the same couldn’t be said for thousands of others, to whom we send our thoughts and prayers. With the forecast for even more rain as the storm trudges into the Gulf again, we truly are, pardon the expression, in uncharted waters.

On the lottery side of things, both Lotto Texas and Powerball saw their most commonly played Patterns that night.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern went for the three-peat Saturday night. With winning numbers 7, 11, 33, 41, 43, and 49, this Pattern has played in 769 drawings.

Statistics-wise, this Pattern has now played in 52.1% of the 1476 Lotto Texas drawings.

The {3-2-1} Pattern wasn’t the only encore that evening; the 2 1 3 Specific Order made its 113th appearance. With that said, this Specific Order has played in 14.7% of the 769 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.66% of all 1476 drawings.

There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

With winning numbers 7, 15, 32, 38, 66, and PB 15, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 76 times.

This Pattern has played in 38.4% of the 198 Powerball drawings and was last seen in the August 19, 2017 drawing.

Now with seventeen appearances, the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has played in 22.4% of the 76 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.59% of all 198 drawings and was last seen in the July 22, 2017 drawing.

Making its seventh appearance, the 1 1 2 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 41.2% of the 17 drawings where the [1-1-2-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 9.21% of the 76 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in 3.54% of the 198 drawings, and was last seen in the June 24, 2017 drawing.
