Love Among the Lotteries

Today’s post is about Valentine’s Day

A time in which lovers play.

But they weren’t the only ones who had fun

Lotto Texas and Powerball had their time in the sun.

With a three-peat, a playback, and a repeating Three-Number Combination

‘Twas a time of great celebration.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern was loved so much that it had to show up again after this past Saturday’s drawing. With winning numbers 8, 19, 22, 29, 50, and 52, this Pattern has now played 793 times.

Given that there have been 1525 Lotto Texas drawings, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played in 52% of them.

The 1 3 2 Specific Order made its 120th appearance and has now played in 15.1% of the 793 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 7.87% of all 1525 drawings and was last seen on October 25, 2017 drawing.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Alas, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.

Powerball

This Pattern has played in 29.1% of the 247 Powerball drawings.

Now with 29 appearances, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has now played in 40.3% of the 72 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 247 drawings, this General Order has played 11.7% of the time.

The 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order, now with five appearances, has played in 17.2% of the 29 drawings where [2-2-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 6.94% of the 72 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern appeared. Finally, when looking at all 247 drawings, this Specific Order has played 2.02% of the time.

And now the fun part. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern, [2-2-1-1] General Order, and the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order were all last seen together in the January 20, 2018 drawing.

Three-Number Combination(s)

We lied. Sort of. The real fun part is that 39, 44, and 69, the repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening, made its debut in the January 20, 2016 drawing!

That’s exactly two years prior to Wednesday night’s playback.

Not a bad way to get over the weekly hump

Will Saturday night be big, or will there be a slump?

The Mardi Gras Cooldown

The February 13th Mega Millions drawing was much less rowdy than what we saw this past Friday. There was no similar spread, nor a repeating Four-Number Combination. Just as well on the latter, as those Combinations are more the domain of Lotto Texas. Tuesday night wasn’t completely quiet. One of the biggest events of the evening was a Pattern encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The spirit of this past Friday lived on with an encore of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 5, 12, 15, 46, 49, and MB 1, this Pattern has now played 95 times.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern came back for more. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 332 Mega Millions drawing to date, this Pattern has played in 28.6% of them.

With its 28th appearance, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 29.5% of the 95 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This statistic becomes 8.43% when looking at all 332 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order played in the December 26th, 2017 drawing.

Now with three appearances, the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 10.7% of the 28 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 3.16% of the 95 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 0.90% of all 332 drawings. The 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order was last seen on June 21st, 2016.

Three Number Combination(s)

The lone repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 46, 49, and MB 1.

This Combination made its debut in the June 13th, 2014 drawing.

Will Mega Millions stay calm Friday night, or will there be another big bash?

May We See Your Combinations, Mega Millions?

Mardi Gras (“Fat Tuesday”) season is in full swing. It’s a time of grand parties, flashiness, King Cake, and bingeing. Of course, Mega Millions wanted in on the festivities. After all, it’s no stranger to being flashy. Pattern streaks, playbacks, and the similar spread are just a few tools in its arsenal. Not only was there a similar spread, there was a repeating Four-Number Combination as well. That was not a typo. With this insane mishmash of (repeating) Combinations and a similar spread, we can say without hesitation that February 9, 2018 was one of the grandest nights we’ve analyzed.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 28, 34, 41, 46, 47, and MB 14, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played 94 times.

A lot of things can happen with just six numbers. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 331 drawings, this Pattern has played in 28.4% of them, and was last seen on January 23, 2018.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order made its 33rd appearance and has played in 35.1% of the 94 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has now played in 9.97% of all 331 drawings. Prior to Friday night, we saw the [1-2-2-1] General Order on January 9, 2018.

Now with six appearances, the 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 18.2% of the 33 drawings where [1-2-2-1] was the General Order of the evening. This Specific Order has also appeared in 6.38% of the 94 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-2-1-1}. Finally, when taking all 331 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 1.81% of the time. The 0 1 2 2 0 1 Specific Order previously played in the October 6, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Spread ‘Em

A similar spread happens when the numbers in the spreads are the same, but the orders are different. The spread for Friday night’s numbers are 06:07:05:01. This is similar to the spread that occurred in the May 12, 2017 drawing. That night, the winning numbers were 28, 34, 41, 42, 47, and MB 13, and the spread was 06:07:01:05.

Four-Number Combination(s)

Repeating Four-Number Combinations aren’t all that common in Mega Millions. The lone Combination was 28, 34, 41, and 47.

Like snow in Florida. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This made its debut in the May 12, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

The thing about repeating Four-Number Combinations is that there are repeating Three-Number Combinations rolled up inside. Four of them to be precise:

  • 28, 34, 41
  • 28, 34, 47
  • 34, 41, 47
  • 28, 41, 47

These four Combinations debuted alongside “mother” Combination 28, 34, 41, and 47 in the May 12th drawing mentioned earlier.

These weren’t the only repeating Three-Number Combinations of the evening!

The real Mardi Gras is this coming Tuesday. Will Mega Millions keep the momentum going?

A Thaw-some Play

Yes, it’s still winter here in Lottery Trend Country. No, it’s not as cold. In fact, things heated up in the January 23rd Mega Millions drawing. We’re going to start with the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak.

It got broken.

General Lottery Analysis

Instead of a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern four-peat, we were treated to the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. With winning numbers 2, 6, 30, 31, 55, and MB 7, this Pattern has played 93 times.

The night belonged to the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 326 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.5% of the time. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern was last seen January 9th, 2018.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order, now with 34 appearances, has played in 36.6% of the 93 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 326 drawings, this General Order has played 10.4% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [2-2-1-1] General Order previously played in the December 29th, 2017 drawing.

Now with seven appearances, the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order has played in 20.6% of the 34 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. When looking at the 93 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, this Specific Order has played 7.53% of the time. Finally, when taking all 326 drawings into account, the 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 2.15% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the April 25th, 2017 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Accompanying the {2-2-1-1} Pattern were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 6, 30, 31 (Debuted July 17th, 2015)
  • 2, 31, MB 7 (Debuted December 12th, 2014)

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Friday’s drawing?

And the Heat Goes On

The January thaw continued, and things heated up for Lottery Trend the night of January 20, 2018. For those of you who like Australia Plays, Saturday night was your night! Powerball, on the other hand, dipped its foot in the playback pool.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

Lotto Texas liked the Australia Play so much, that it made an encore. With winning numbers 8, 12, 24, 25, 47, and 54, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played 207 times.

The Australia Play has appeared in 13.6% of the 1518 Lotto Texas drawings.

Four-Number Combination(s)

The encore was enough, it seems. There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations this time.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 71st appearance with numbers 26, 28, 47, 49, 58, and PB 3.

This Pattern has now played in 29.6% of the 240 Powerball drawings.

The [2-2-1-1] General Order, now with 28 appearances, has played in 39.4% of the 71 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 11.67% of all 240 drawings.

Now with three appearances, the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order has played in 10.7% of the 28 drawings where [2-2-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 4.23% of the 71 drawings where the winning Pattern was {2-2-1-1}. Finally, when looking at all 240 drawings, this Specific Order has played 1.25% of the time.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the [2-2-1-1] General Order, and the 0 2 0 2 1 1 Specific Order were all seen together in the December 6, 2017 drawing.

Will there be more playbacks and encores next week?

Gone, But Not Forgotten

This past Friday was one to remember:

  1. Parts of the Eastern US were feeling the frigid effects/aftermath of a winter storm.
  2. There were three Mega Millions winners, with only one winning the coveted $450 million prize. The other two walked away with at least $1 million, which is nothing to sneeze at.

Although January 9th’s Mega Millions had a much smaller jackpot, Friday night lingered on. Sort of.

General Lottery Analysis

Remember the {2-2-1-1} Pattern? Not only did it play this past Friday, it played again Tuesday night. The 92nd appearance was highlighted by winning numbers 16, 29, 31, 65, 67, and MB 23.

Some parts of January 5th live on. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

With 322 Mega Millions drawings to date, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 28.57% of the time.

Along for the ride was the [1-2-2-1] General Order, which also appeared this past Friday. Now with 32 appearances, this General Order has played in 34.8% of the 92 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 322 drawings, this General Order has played in 9.94% of them.

The 0 1 2 0 2 1 Specific Order, now with five appearances, has played in 15.625% of the 32 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.43% of the 92 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 322 drawings into account, the 0 1 2 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 1.55% of the time. This too was last seen in this past Friday’s drawing.

We’re only ten days into 2018, and we’ve already seen a playback! That is, the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order all played together in a previous drawing. And, this occurred with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, the second-most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. When it comes to big plays, could the {2-2-1-1} Pattern give the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern a run for its money this year?

Three Number Combination(s)

Not every element of Friday lingered. There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go for the three-peat? Could a playback encore take place? We’ll just have to wait until Friday night!

A Mega Millions Winner is Crowned

Of the three lotteries we cover at Lottery Binge, Mega Millions is usually the most flashy one. First week of the new year, and someone won the enormous $450 million jackpot! And, two Houston-area locals won at least $1 million. Congratulations to everyone who won.

There were a couple of interesting observations regarding the winning Pattern Friday night. Not only did it play in the second Mega Millions drawing of 2018, it’s also the second-most Common Pattern.

General Lottery Analysis

The January 5, 2018 drawing saw the {2-2-1-1} Pattern play for the 91st time, with winning numbers 28, 30, 39, 59, 70, and MB 10.

Thanks to these numbers, someone is $450 million richer. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Of the 321 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played in 28.3% of them. This was the Pattern that closed out 2017. For Mega Millions, at least.

The [1-2-2-1] General Order made its 31st appearance, and has now played in 34.1% of the 91 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Taking all 321 drawings into account, this General Order has played 9.66% of the time. We last saw this General Order in the October 10, 2017 drawing.

Now having played four times, the 0 1 2 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 12.9% of the 31 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order appeared. Out of the 91 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern played, this Specific Order has appeared 4.40% of the time. Finally, when taking all 321 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played in 1.25% of them. Prior to Friday night, the 0 1 2 0 2 1 Specific Order was last seen in the March 10, 2017 drawing. This was configured from the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order seen that night.

Three Number Combination(s)

Not only was there a winner Friday night, there were also two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

Coming Full Circle

What a year! With all the craziness in both the “real world” and Mega Millions, we made it to the end. Mega Millions said goodbye to 2017 with a Pattern encore. Of course, with this being Mega Millions and all, the Pattern wasn’t the only big event of the evening.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 4, 10, 18, 28, 62, and MB 7, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 90th appearance in the December 29th drawing.

An encore to end the year. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Given that there have been 319 Mega Millions drawings to date, this Pattern has played 28.2% of the time. Interestingly, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was the very Pattern that kicked off 2017, although that was under the old 75-15 system. Leave it to Mega Millions to finish the year the way it started!

With its 33rd appearance, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played in 36.7% of the 90 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 10.3% of all 319 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this General Order was seen in the December 1, 2017 drawing.

The 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 12.1% of the 33 drawings where the [2-2-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 4.44% of the 90 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when taking all 319 drawings into account, the 2 2 0 0 1 1 Specific Order has played 1.25% of the time. This Specific Order was last seen over two years ago. More specifically, in the November 17, 2015 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Mega Millions ended the year with three repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 4, 10, MB 7 (Debuted December 23, 2014)
  • 28, 62, MB 7 (Debuted December 18, 2015)
  • 18, 28, MB 7 (Debuted September 12, 2014)
Clustered together at the top. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern be the one to start 2018, or will another Pattern have the honor?

Christmas Clean-Up

Hope everyone out there had a great Christmas! Now that we’ve had our fill of Christmas ham and dressing, it’s time to get back to work. Lottery work, that is. Even with one week left in 2017, lotteries don’t take breaks!

Some people see December 26th as “The Day After Christmas.” Others see it more like:

  • Boxing Day (More of a UK/Commonwealth thing, not so much in the U.S.)
  • The First Day of Kwanzaa
  • The penultimate drawing of 2017

That last point is what today’s post is all about. Was there a {3-1-1-1} three-peat Tuesday night?

General Lottery Analysis

Although there was no Pattern three-peat, we did see the second-most commonly played Mega Millions Pattern. With winning numbers 10, 12, 20, 38, 41, and MB 25, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made its 89th appearance.

A visit from the “#2” Pattern. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

This Pattern has played in roughly 28% of the 318 drawings. The {2-2-1-1} Pattern was the one that kicked off December, showing up on the very first day.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 27th appearance, and has now played in 30.3% of the 89 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. When looking at all 318 drawings, this General Order has played 8.49% of the time. Prior to Tuesday night, the [2-1-2-1] General Order played in the October 27, 2017 drawing.

With its second-ever appearance, the 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played in 7.41% of the 27 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has played in 2.25% of the 89 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.63% of all 218 drawings.  The 2 1 2 0 0 1 Specific Order is a special one. It made its debut over three years ago in the July 15, 2014 drawing.

Three Number Combination(s)

Even more amazing is the repeating Three-Number Combination 10, 20, 38.

This Combination made its debut in the December 26, 2017 drawing, exactly three years prior!

Friday’s drawing will be the last Mega Millions drawing of 2017. Will the 2017 run end with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore?

Around the Bonfire with Lotto Texas and Powerball

Our portion of Lottery Trend Country is still in the grips of winter. In fact, it’s so tight that the “s” word (that’s “snow”) was mentioned in the Houston weather forecast. As exciting as it all is, we’ll have to put it to the side.  Be it rain, heat, hail, or (possible) snow, Lotto Texas and Powerball held their drawings without issue on December 6, 2017.  Lotto Texas greeted winter with a Pattern encore. Although Powerball saw no such thing, it wasn’t totally iced out of the numbers madness.

General Lottery Analysis
