Revenge of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern

Another Mega Millions drawing, another rise in the jackpot. After the June 19^th drawing, the prize is now $192 million! Like we saw in the June 15th analysis, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern didn’t stay down for long. In today’s analysis, we saw that this Pattern made an encore. But, as we’ve seen in the past, there was more under the hood than “just” the encore.

General Lottery Analysis

The winning numbers for June 19, 2018 were 11, 13, 28, 65, 70, and MB 14, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern to 106.

Given that there have been 368 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.8% of the time.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 35^th appearance and has now played in 33% of the 106 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.51% of all 368 drawings. In our analysis, it was discovered that the [2-1-2-1] General Order played alongside the {2-2-1-1} Pattern in this past Friday’s drawing.

Now with three appearances, the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 8.57% of the 35 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.83% of the 106 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 368 drawings, the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has played 0.82% of the time. We last saw this Specific Order in the July 25, 2017 drawing. This was reconfigured from the 2 1 0 2 0 1 Specific Order seen that night. The winning numbers from that drawing were 2, 5, 26, 58, 60, and MB 6.

The Unassuming {2-2-1-1} Pattern

The Mega Millions gods decided it was time for a breather. After a first half of the month filled with Pattern encores and uncommon Patterns, June 15, 2018 was markedly different. There was one consistency though. The jackpot has risen once again, and now stands at $175 million.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, with its 34^th appearance, has now played in 32.4% of the 105 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 9.26% of all 367 drawings and was last seen on May 29, 2018.

Now with five appearances, the 2 0 1 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 14.7% of the 34 drawings where [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.76% of the 105 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Underneath the Uncommon Pattern and Encore

With no one getting all six numbers correct in either Lotto Texas or Powerball, the jackpots have now gone up to $6.75 million and $121 million, respectively. What with a Pattern streak in Lotto Texas shattered, then that means the night was uneventful, right? Not at all! In contrast to the more obvious shows of grandiosity as of late, the excitement was subtler June 9, 2018.

Fresh from its appearance this past Wednesday, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern went on to make an encore. Its 82^nd appearance was thanks to winning numbers were 6, 10, 15, 25, 36, and PB 14.

The Oddities of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern

In the last Mega Millions post, the question was whether the {2-2-1-1} Pattern would make an encore, or if something unexpected would happen.

The results of the June 8^th lottery analysis pointed to…both.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern not only made an encore, there were a few other surprises. That, combined with a jackpot now at $144 million, has turned up the heat in Mega Millions.

The 104^th appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 14, 30, 33, 44, 56, and MB 13.

Given that there have been 365 Mega Millions drawings, this Pattern has played 28.5% of the time. Remember, it was just this past Tuesday when this Pattern last appeared.

The encore appearance of the [1-2-2-1] General Order brought its total number of appearances up to 36. This General Order has now played in 34.6% of the 104 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. When looking at all 365 drawings, this General Order has played 9.86% of the time.

Despite the Pattern and General Order encores, this did not hold true for the Specific Order. Now with three appearances, the 1 0 2 2 0 1 Specific Order has played in 8.33% of the 36 drawings where [1-2-2-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 2.88% of the 104 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 0.82% of all 365 drawings. Prior to Friday night, this Specific Order was seen on December 2^nd, 2016. This was a little over 18 months ago.

A span of a year-and-a-half between Specific Order play dates is interesting, but it pales in comparison to what else took place Friday night.

The header is not a typo. A repeating Four-Number Combination really did take place, and that Combination was 14, 30, 33, and 44!

This Combination made its debut two years ago in the May 12^th, 2015 drawing.

With rising temperatures (and a rising jackpot), will Tuesday’s drawing see a {2-2-1-1} Pattern “three-peat” packed with repeating Combinations of the Three and Four-Number kind?

A More “Normal” Approach by the {2-2-1-1} Pattern

Compared to the Pattern streak that happened last month and the playback that happened last time, Tuesday’s drawing was comparatively “normal”. So “normal” in fact that no one got all six numbers in the June 5^th drawing. With the jackpot now standing at $125 million, what exactly happened Tuesday night?

It’s that time of year again! Summer isn’t just a time of hot weather and long vacations. It’s full of spectacle, too. Big budget movies and televised talent shows (live, even!) beat reruns for sure. Another Cinco de Mayo has come and gone. Lotto Texas and Powerball were joined at the hip this time, or at least wore matching tops. And yet, it was Lotto Texas that saw much of the action Saturday night. It had five beers, a tequila, and All-You-Can-Eat Fajitas while Powerball settled for some chips/salsa and a margarita.

Similar Spread

Fifth time is the best time it seems to throw in a similar spread! The spread for Saturday night’s drawing was 04:05:03:15:09. This is similar to the spread that showed up in the March 19, 2011 drawing. The winning numbers were 15, 24, 29, 32, 36, and 51 and the spread was 09:05:03:04:15. Notice that although the differences between numbers were the same, the orders were different.

With 24 appearances, the [1-2-2-1] General Order has played in 30.4% of the 79 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 8.89% of all 270 drawings. This General Order was last seen on April 21, 2018. And wouldn’t ya know it? That was the last time we saw Lotto Texas’s 1 3 2 Specific Order (before Saturday).
