Mega Millions’ Memoria Day (Weekend) Combination Special

Memorial Day is the traditional start of summer, even if the schools haven’t closed just yet*. For us at Lottery Trend headquarters, this holiday weekend marks a milestone. It was five years ago that Lottery Binge went online. Five years of providing the latest lottery analysis for Lotto Texas, Powerball, and Mega Millions, and no intention of slowing down!

*For readers not familiar with the U.S. school system, the country doesn’t have a national curriculum. The states determine the start and end dates of the school year, as well as what gets taught. Some schools close at the beginning of May (and the kids go back in late July/early August) while others let out at the end of June (and start after Labor Day). In our neck of the woods, the schools let out right before Memorial Day.

How fitting that Mega Millions kicked off Memorial Day weekend! The May 28, 2021 drawing saw a bombardment of repeating Three-Number Combinations. This pushed the jackpot upward to $34 million. Both of these were made possible by the return of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern.

Number, Number, Numbertime

The most wonderful time of year has come. Move over Christmas, it’s summertime! No more pencils, no more (Chrome)books. No more teachers’ dirty looks!

Lotto Texas and Powerball sensed the buzz of summer vacation and graduations and went hog wild. May 26, 2021 was a night of uncommon Patterns, wild plays, and rising jackpots. Lotto Texas, normally the “quiet and assuming” lottery, continued to embrace boldness, growing to $18.25 million. Meanwhile, Powerball leapt to $233 million.

From an Acorn Springs Another Mega Millions

The mighty Mega Millions jackpot was chopped down last Friday. A lone player picked the six winning numbers and became over half a billion dollars richer. On a more recent note, the May 25, 2021 drawing saw the beginning of the jackpot regrowth process. A boost to $22 million was a healthy start.

One great thing about lottery analysis is that even though a lottery gets knocked down, it’s never out for long! Will this be the beginning of another long growth process, or will this jackpot tree be chopped down much sooner?

The Subtle Act of Rising Jackpots

So many factors contribute to the energy a lottery possesses. The size of the jackpot, for one. “Sister lottery” Mega Millions can attest to that! Other factors include the time of year and “real-world” events. Here in Lottery Trend Country, summer is right around the corner, and there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to COVID-19.

Lotto Texas and Powerball may not be worth half a billion dollars (or close to it) in prizes, but their jackpots are anything but paltry! A different approach was taken by these lotteries May 12, 2021. The buzz was still there, but a bit more subdued. That didn’t prevent the jackpots from growing to $15.5 million and $183 million, respectively.

Higher and Higher, the Jackpot Goes…

The start of another month means more Mega Millions! Since February, the jackpot has been climbing and with each drawing, it’s gotten larger and stronger.

The Great Pattern Sync-Up

With only a few days left in April, Lotto Texas and Powerball thought it was a good idea to sync up! The night of April 24, 2021 saw the return of recently departed Patterns. Note, however, that neither lottery saw a Pattern encore. Another night with no grand prize winners produced rising jackpots. Two months have passed since Mega Millions saw a winner. Since then, only one thing has been consistent: a rising jackpot! April 23, 2021 was yet another night that didn’t produce a grand prize winner. The silver lining, of course, was a jackpot that grew to $297 million.
