A 3-2-1 of a Different Sort

Mega Millions is no stranger to the {3-2-1} Pattern. Although far more common in Lotto Texas, this Pattern shows up from time to time. However, this isn’t the type of 3-2-1 we mean. Not this time.

Mega Millions, a lottery of many talents, produced another kind of 3-2-1 Tuesday night. There was a Pattern three-peat, a General Order encore, and a Specific Order humming its own tune. All these factors contributed to the prize money growing to $169 million.

General Lottery Analysis

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern three-peat of May 23, 2023 was thanks to 3, 10, 22, 65, 66 and MB 19. This Pattern has now played 248 times. There have now been 882 Mega Millions drawings, and this Pattern has now played 28.1% of the time.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order, back for more, made its 79th appearance. This General Order has played in 31.9% of the 248 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Once all 882 drawings have been taken into consideration, this General Order has played 8.96% of the time.

Both the {2-2-1-1} Pattern and the [2-1-2-1] General Order were last seen May 19, 2023.

Now with 11 appearances the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order has played in 13.9% of the 79 drawings where the General Order was [2-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4.44% of the 248 drawings where {2-2-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.25% of all 882 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, the 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order was last seen March 15, 2022.
