All streaks must come to an end. The {3-1-1-1} Pattern did not appear for the fourth time in a row. Right after an unprecedented three-peat, it was unceremoniously dethroned in the October 10th drawing. A more, ahem, common Pattern did the deed.
General Lottery Analysis
With 122 drawings, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern is the second-most commonly seen Pattern in Mega Millions. Tuesday’s winning numbers were 7, 16, 24, 61, 62, and MB 2.
Now with seven appearances, the 120021 Specific Order has played in 19.4% of the 36 drawings where the [1-2-2-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.74% of the 122 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.69% of all 415 drawings. Before Tuesday night, the 120021 Specific Order accompanied the [1-2-2-1] General Order in the earlier-mentioned August 15th drawing.
Three-Number Combination(s)
The lone repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 7, 16, MB 2.
This Combination made its debut in the January 28, 2014 drawing.
True to the spirit of Saturday nights, October 7, 2017 was in the throes of parties. Number parties, that is. Lotto Texas saw a three-peat and Powerball? Powerball saw a repeating Four-Number Combination for the first time in seven weeks.
Lotto Texas
General Lottery Analysis
Right off the heels of Tuesday’s drawing, the {3-2-1} Pattern ruled the night. Saturday night’s winning numbers were 2, 12, 28, 31, 32, and 42, bringing the total number of appearances to 775.
This Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1488 drawings.
The 231 Specific Order has appeared in 128 drawings, and has played in 16.5% of the 775 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.60% of all 1488 drawings. Lately, it appears that this Specific Order is joined at the hip with the {3-2-1} Pattern, as it too was caught in the throes of a three-peat.
Contrary to popular expectations, there were no repeating Four-Number Combinations here. As we hinted at earlier, that happened in Powerball.
Powerball
General Lottery Analysis
For those of you who’ve been following Lottery Binge, you know the rule. First the general analysis, and then the Combinations. Ahem.
The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 40th appearance, with winning numbers 10, 49, 61, 63, 65, and PB 7.
Making its fourth appearance, the 100131 Specific Order has played in 22.2% of the 18 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 10% of the 40 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.90% of all 210 drawings. And, like the [1-1-3-1] Specific Order, we need to go back to an earlier date to see when the 100131 Specific Order previously played. In this case, we last saw the Specific Order in the June 21, 2017 drawing.
Four-Number Combination(s)
So, for the first time in seven weeks, a repeating Four-Number Combination showed its face in Powerball:
Remember, repeating Four-Number Combinations are not common with Powerball! You know where it is common though? Lotto Texas.
Three-Number Combination(s)
Of course, we can’t talk about a repeating Four-Number Combination without the Three-Number Combinations that were “birthed” from it, can we?
63, 65, PB 7
61, 65, PB 7
61, 63, PB 7
61, 63, 65
As is the nature of this type of occurrence, these four Combinations also made their debut in the November 16th, 2016 drawing.
Will either the {3-2-1} Pattern or {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore in Wednesday’s drawing? Will Powerball throw another zinger and play another repeating Four-Number Combination?
The {3-1-1-1} Pattern is normally a quiet, unassuming Pattern. It doesn’t go around establishing streaks like {2-1-1-1-1}. Apparently, the urge to create a Pattern streak was overwhelming, because the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its third consecutive appearance in the October 6, 2017 drawing. This Pattern packed a punch. See, the three-peat wasn’t the only big thing of the evening.
General Lottery Analysis
The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 70th appearance with winning numbers 21, 33, 36, 45, 56, and MB 12.
This Pattern has played in 16.9% of the 414 Mega Millions drawings.
With 21 appearances, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has now played in 30% of the 70 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 5.07% of all 414 drawings. We can safely say that the [1-3-1-1] General Order’s appearance was an encore. It played alongside the {3-1-1-1} Pattern in this past Tuesday’s drawing.
Now with eight appearances, the 013101 Specific Order has played in 38.1% of the 21 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 11.4% of the 70 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.93% of all 414 drawings. Unlike the [1-3-1-1] General Order, this Specific Order did not make an encore. The last time we saw the 013101 Specific Order was in the May 12, 2017 drawing.
Similar Spread
The Mega Millions analyst informed me that there was a similar spread. The spread of the evening was 12:03:09:11. If we look at the April 17th, 2015 drawing, the winning numbers were 15, 18, 29, 41, 50, and MB 5, and the spread was 03:11:12:09. As is the case with similar spreads, the spreads may be the same, but the numbers played and the orders in which the spreads occur are different. This information will be passed on to our webmaster, and the Mega Millions site will be updated accordingly.
Three-Number Combination(s)
To add onto the momentum, there were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:
33, 36, 45 (Debuted May 3, 2016)
21, 56, MB 12 (Debuted October 17, 2014)
Are Pattern streaks the new face of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, or will it disappear in Tuesday’s drawing?
Lotto Texas and Powerball stood on opposite sides of the world. October 4th saw the {3-2-1} Pattern for both lotteries. Yet, it couldn’t be more different. For Lotto Texas, this is the King of Patterns. In Powerball, it’s just a quiet bystander. However, that doesn’t mean the quiet ones are always quiet. Something else was brewing in Powerball.
This Pattern has played in 52.1% of the 1487 Lotto Texas drawings.
Meanwhile, the 231 Specific Order made its 127th appearance. It has now played in 16.4% of the 774 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 8.54% of all 1487 drawings. The 231 Specific Order was seen alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern in this past Saturday’s drawing.
There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations.
Powerball
Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern made its eleventh appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 22, 23, 62, 63, 66, and PB 24.
With nine appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in 81.8% of the 11 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 4.31% of all 209 Powerball drawings, and played alongside the {3-2-1} Pattern on September 27th.
Now with its second-ever appearance, the 020031Specific Order has played in 22.2% of the 9 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 18.2% of the 11 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. Finally, when taking all 209 drawings into account, this Specific Order has played 0.96% of the time. The 020031Specific Order made its debut earlier this year. More specifically, in the January 25, 2017 drawing.
This {3-2-1} Pattern produced two repeating Three-Number Combinations:
Right off the heels of Friday night’s drawing, Mega Millions started October with a {3-1-1-1} encore. The October 3, 2017 drawing also featured a Specific Order that hadn’t been seen in almost two years. Although we didn’t have a repeating Combination bonanza, there was a repeating Three-Number Combination or two.
With winning numbers 12, 18, 19, 25, 67, and MB 7, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 69th appearance.
Given that there have now been 413 drawings, this Pattern has now played in 16.7% of the 413 Mega Millions drawings.
The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 20th appearance, and has now played in roughly 29% of the 69 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 4.84% of all 413 drawings. We last saw the [1-3-1-1] General Order in the August 18, 2017 drawing.
Now with three appearances, the 130011 Specific Order has played in 15% of the 20 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.35% of the 69 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.73% of all 413 drawings. Now, the 130011 Specific Order is a special one indeed. It previously played in the December 18, 2015 drawing. Talk about an early Christmas gift!
As for the repeating Three-Number Combinations of the evening, they were as follows:
12, 18, 25 (Debuted February 25, 2014)
12, 25, MB 7 (Debuted January 13, 2015)
Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern go for the three-peat in Friday night’s drawing?
September has come and gone. With seventy-five percent of the year gone, the holiday season is right around the corner, and it’s never too early to get a head start on the Christmas shopping list, right? On the lottery side of things, September 30th wasn’t a blowout for either Lotto Texas or Powerball. However, the night was far from “boring”.
Lotto Texas
With winning numbers 1, 8, 19, 29, 36, and 45, the {3-2-1} Pattern has now played 773 times.
This Pattern has played in 52% of the 1486 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen September 16th, or two weeks prior.
Now with 126 appearances, the 231 Specific Order has played in 16.3% of the 773 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 8.48% of all 1486 drawings. Prior to Saturday night, this Specific Order played in the August 9th, 2017 drawing.
The lone repeating Four-Number Combination of the evening was 1, 19, 29, 36, which made its debut in the March 7th, 2012 drawing.
Powerball
The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 78th appearance, with winning numbers 8, 12, 25, 41, 64, and PB 15.
With seventeen appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has now played in 21.8% of the 78 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 8.17% of all 208 drawings, and was last seen August 19th, 2017.
With its fourth appearance, the 211011 Specific Order has played in 23.5% of the seventeen drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.13% of the 78 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.92% of all 208 drawings. The 211011 Specific Order previously played in the February 11th, 2017 drawing.
The repeating Three-Number Combination was 41, 64, and PB 15.
This Combination made its debut in the May 25th, 2016 drawing.
Will there be Pattern encores and rare plays for Lotto Texas and Powerball this October?
Mega Millions was never one to pass up big plays. Instead of playing an extremely rare Pattern, or even a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore, another route was taken. For those of you who get a kick out of repeating Three-Number Combinations, September 29th was your night! Friday saw a whopping six, count ‘em six repeating Three-Number Combinations. What triggered such a large number? We’ll get to that in a minute, but first, this general Mega Millions analysis.
The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 68th appearance, with winning numbers 25, 51, 62, 73, 74, and MB 7.
This Pattern has now played in 16.5% of the 412 drawings and was last seen earlier in the month. More specifically, in the September 8th drawing.
Making its third-ever appearance was the 0100131 Specific Order. This has now played in 11.5% of the 26 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared, and in 4.41% of the 68 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 0.73% of all 412 drawings, and previously played on June 13th, 2017.
And now for the repeating Combinations bonanza. Part of what made this night so full of repeating Combinations was that there was a repeating Four-Number Combination. Repeating Four-Number Combinations are no stranger to Lotto Texas, but in Mega Millions, they don’t come by very often. This Combination was 25, 62, 74, and MB 7.
Of course, with a repeating Four-Number Combination, there are four repeating Three-Number Combinations nestled within:
62, 74, MB 7
25, 74, MB 7
25, 62, MB 7
25, 62, 74
These Combinations, and of course, the “mother” Four-Number Combination, made their debut in the December 29th, 2015 drawing.
These weren’t the only Combinations of the evening. In fact, there were two more repeating Three-Number Combinations:
25, 51, 73 (Debuted September 16th, 2014)
25, 51, MB 7 (Debuted January 13th, 2015)
Will Tuesday’s drawing see a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore, or will the not often seen repeating Four-Number Combination make another appearance?
Autumn, of course, is when temperatures start to cool down. The term “Cool down” didn’t apply to either Lotto Texas or Powerball. To commemorate the first full week of autumn, there was an Australia Play and a callback to a drawing from right before Harvey. Question is, which pattern saw what play the night of September 27th?
Lotto Texas
The {2-2-2} Pattern bounded its way to its 199th appearance. Wednesday’s winning numbers were 2, 6, 26, 32, 42, and 49.
Now, given that was an Australia Play, the 222 Specific Order also made its 199th appearance. Both have now played in 13.4% of the 1485 Lotto Texas drawing, and previously played on July 15, 2017.
Powerball
Unlike the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, Powerball’s {3-2-1} Pattern is rare indeed. Out of 207 drawings, this Pattern made its 10th appearance Wednesday. The winning numbers for the big 1-0 were 8, 10, 21, 23, 25, and PB 22.
This Pattern has now played in 4.83% of the 207 drawings.
With eight appearances, the [2-3-1] General Order has played in 80% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 3.86% of all 207 drawings.
Now with two appearances, the 230001 Specific Order has played in 25% of the 8 drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, and in 20% of the 10 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in roughly one percent of all 207 drawings.
Technically speaking, an Australia Play is a callback. On this blog, the term will be used to describe an occurrence of a Pattern, General Order (when applicable), and Specific Order that played together in a previous drawing, and are not part of an Australia Play.
Our Powerball coverage concludes with the lone Three-Number Combination of the evening: 8, 10, and PB 22.
This Combination made its debut in the December 3, 2016 drawing.
Will Saturday’s drawing see more callbacks? Will both Lotto Texas and Powerball see the {3-2-1} Pattern?
In our last Mega Millions post, we wondered if the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern would make an encore. What better way to start autumn than with the Pattern that reigned over Mega Millions this summer, right? Well, that wasn’t to be. The September 26th drawing did see something interesting with its Specific Order.
Tuesday’s drawing saw the 121st appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers this time were 1, 10, 57, 66, 75, and MB 4.
With 42 appearances, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played in 34.7% of the 121 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 10.2% of all 411 drawings. This General Order was last seen in the July 28th, 2017 drawing.
Making its fifth appearance, the 200121 Specific Order has played in 11.9% of the 42 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, and in 4.13% of the 121 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has now played in 1.22% of all 411 drawings. Believe it or not, the 200121 Specific Order hadn’t been seen in over a year! Prior to Tuesday night, this Specific Order was seen in the August 23rd, 2016 drawing.
There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations this time.
Will Mega Millions end the month with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern encore?
Autumn has arrived in Lottery Trend Country. This is a time of cooler temperatures, shortening daytime hours, and of course, pumpkin spice lattes. Before we get far down the rabbit hole of said lattes and autumnal spices, we have the matter of the Lotto Texas and Powerball drawings to cover. September 23rd didn’t see a blowout for either lottery, but there were a couple of interesting plays, especially in Powerball.
Lotto Texas
With winning numbers 8, 10, 14, 17, 28, and 29, the {4-2} Pattern has now played 168 times.
This Pattern has played in 11.3% of the 1484 Lotto Texas drawings, and prior to Saturday night, was last seen on September 13, 2017.
Making its 33rd appearance, the 420 Specific Order has played in 19.6% of the 168 drawings where the {4-2} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.22% of all 1484 drawings, and previously played on August 16, 2017.
There were no repeating Four-Number Combinations this time.
Powerball
The 39th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern was marked by winning numbers 24, 45, 55, 56, 57, and PB 19.
The 010311 Specific Order made its second appearance, and has now played in 15.4% of the 13 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 5.13% of the 39 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.97% of all 206 drawings. This Specific Order hadn’t been seen in nearly eighteen months. In fact, it made its debut in the March 30, 2016 drawing.
The repeating Three-Number Combinations of the evening were
