Common or Not Common?

That is the question. The {3-2-1} Pattern made an appearance in the November 14, 2017 Mega Millions drawing. Those of you who follow our Lotto Texas posts know that the {3-2-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen there. But what of Mega Millions? Sure, the {3-2-1} Pattern doesn’t play as much as the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern (The King of Mega Millions Patterns), but it has a respectable showing. Right?

General Lottery Analysis

Well, when it comes to number of appearances, the {3-2-1} Pattern doesn’t even come close to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. Nor the {2-2-1-1} Pattern for that matter. With winning numbers 1, 14, 21, 22, 28, and MB 19, Tuesday’s drawing marked the 14th appearance of the Pattern. How fitting!

Given that there have been 306 drawings in the 70-25 system, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 4.58% of the time. This Pattern was last seen in the April 21, 2017 drawing.

Making its sixth appearance was the [2-3-1] General Order. This has now played in 42.9% of the 14 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.96% of all 306 drawings. Prior to Tuesday night, this General Order was seen on January 6, 2017. We reconfigured this General Order from the [2-1-2-1] General Order from that night.

The 2 0 0 3 0 1 Specific Order made its world debut. It has now played in roughly 16.67% of the six drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also now played in 7.14% of the 14 drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.33% of all 306 drawings.

Will the {3-2-1} be daring enough to make an encore Friday night?

Something New for Saturday

Veteran’s Day/Remembrance Day is a time to remember the veterans of wars past and present. Perhaps it was fitting that neither Lotto Texas nor Powerball saw Pattern encores November 11, 2017. One Lottery saw its most common Pattern. The other Pattern, while not nearly so common, has had decent showings.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 16, 19, 21, 22, 36, and 53, the {4-1-1} Pattern made its 164th appearance.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Just as it was Wednesday night, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

Will either Pattern go for an encore this coming Wednesday?

King of the Hill

Some Patterns, when they disappear from play, are never gone for long. It’s just one way they climb the ranks, so to speak. But, only one Pattern can be king of the hill. In Mega Millions, that Pattern is {2-1-1-1-1}. What shenanigans did it get up to November 10, 2017?

General Lottery Analysis

Friday night saw winning numbers 6, 23, 38, 42, 58, and MB 24, bringing the number of appearances up to 132.

Stuck on Repeat

Encore. Three-peat. Four-peat. What do these words have in common? They scream “back-to-back”, that’s what! November 8th was a good night for those who love seeing Pattern encores. How good?

There was a double-serving.

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

In our last Lotto Texas/Powerball post, we mentioned the latter’s love of repetition. It was so fond of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern that it played for the third time in a row. This time, the winning numbers were 12, 14, 20, 21, 34, and PB 22.

Will the {3-2-1} and the {2-2-1-1} Patterns stick together for Saturday night?

November Oldies

Even after the introduction of a new system, some oldies showed up. No, nothing dating before this decade appeared. That’s more Lotto Texas territory, anyway. But, there were a couple of eyebrow-raising developments in the November 7, 2017 Mega Millions drawing.

General Lottery Analysis

Tuesday night’s winning numbers were 1, 54, 60, 68, 69, and MB 11. This marked the 61st appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern.

With 304 drawings to date (Remember, a new system went into effect last week), this Pattern has played 20.1% of the time. We last saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern on October 17, 2017. This was reconfigured from the {2-2-1-1} Pattern seen that night.

Now with 15 appearances, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played in 24.6% of the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. And, it has now played in 4.93% of all 304 drawings. The [1-1-3-1] General Order was basking in the summer sun the last time it appeared. More specifically, the July 22, 2016 drawing.  We reconfigured this from the [1-4-1] General Order seen that night.

Speaking of specifics, the 1 0 0 1 3 1 Specific Order made its fourth appearance Tuesday night. This puts it at 26.7% of the 15 drawings where the [1-1-3-1] General Order has appeared. When looking at the 61 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, this Specific Order has played 6.56% of the time. Finally, it has played in all 304 drawings. It’s been a while since anyone last saw the 1 0 0 1 3 1 Specific Order. It previously played in the November 14, 2014 drawing. Can you believe that it’s been almost three years?

Three Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Tuesday night.

Will there be a {3-1-1-1} Pattern encore or more “oldies” in Friday night’s drawing?

Pattern Fall-Back

Daylight Savings Time ended in the U.S. and Canada earlier this morning. Hope everyone set their clocks back one hour!

Lottery-wise, it appeared Lotto Texas stole the show Saturday night. Powerball may not have been “in-your-face” with action, but it didn’t let Lotto Texas have all the fun. In fact, Powerball was quite fond of repetition. Pattern-wise.

Will either Pattern make an encore appearance in this Wednesday’s drawing?

New Month, New Script

First order of business: a correction. In the post highlighting the October 27, 2017 Mega Millions drawing, we had mentioned that the “regular” numbers would range from 1 to 75, and Mega Balls would be from 1 to 25. The “regular” balls will be from 1 to 70. Mega Balls will range from 1 to 25.

What does this mean for Lottery Binge, and our other sites? The Lottery Trend-Mega Millions analysis team reconfigured our database to account for this new system, henceforth known as 70-25.

Do we have to start all over? Not at all! All drawings in the old system (75-15) that contained “regular” numbers 71-75 will be omitted in our Mega Millions assessment going forward. There are plenty of drawings that did not have 71-75!

General Lottery Analysis

Eerily, or no, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance in the November 3rd drawing. This brings the number of appearances up to 131. The winning numbers were 10, 22, 42, 61, 69, and MB 3.

The 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order made its sixth appearance. This Specific Order has played in 20% of the 30 drawings where the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played. It has also played in 4.58% of the 131 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.98% of all drawings. Prior to Friday, the 1 1 1 0 2 1 Specific Order previously played in the March 24, 2017 drawing.

Before we begin tonight’s post, we would like to congratulate the Houston Astros on their first-ever World Series win. Go ‘Stros!

What a night! Whether it was gorging on candy, binge watching horror, or watching the World Series, Halloween had something for everybody. We can’t forget the number lovers, though! Mega Millions had the honor of falling on Halloween this year. Although October 31st was the first day for the new system, the Mega Ball was not one of the new numbers (16-25). Was the old system not quite ready to give up the ghost?
