The Power of Three

Where we last left off in our Lotto Texas and Powerball excursions, we wondered if the {3-2-1} Pattern would make an encore and if {2-2-1-1} would make a three-peat, respectively. Turns out they sambaed on out. Of course, they’ll show up again someday; thus is the nature of Patterns after all. We did see the return of plays seen just a couple of months ago, and a first-time appearance of a Specific Order.

Lotto Texas

The winning numbers August 10, 2016 were provided by 1, 2, 17, 38, 51, and 54.

This marked the 115th appearance of the {3-3} Pattern, and its first since June 25, 2016. Given that there have now been 1367 Lotto Texas drawings, the {3-3} Pattern has appeared 8.41% of the time. The {3-3} Pattern is not one that we have seen often!

The 3 0 3 Specific Order made its 39th appearance and out of the 115 appearances of the {3-3} Pattern, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has played 33.9% of the time. If we look all 1367 drawings, the 3 0 3 Specific Order has played 2.85% of the time. Like the {3-3} Pattern, this Specific Order previously played June 25, 2016.

Powerball

Powerball was a bit more energetic. The winning numbers were brought to us by 23, 56, 61, 64, 67, and PB 12.

The Pattern of the night was a {3-1-1-1} and it previously played July 30, 2016. With its 12th appearance, and 89 Powerball drawings to date, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played 13.3% of the time.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 3rd appearance, and out of the 12 times the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played, the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played 25% of the time. Taking all 89 Powerball drawings into account, the General Order played 3.37% of the time. The [1-1-3-1] General Order previously played May 4, 2016.

This all gave way to the 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order, which played for the first time last night! This means that the 0 1 0 1 3 1 Specific Order

  • Has appeared in 33% of the drawings (1 out of 3) that the [1-1-3-1] General Order has played
  • Has appeared in 8.33% of the drawings (1 out of 12) that the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played

and

  • Has appeared in 1.12% of all Powerball drawings (1 out of 89).

We’re not done yet!

The August 10th Powerball drawing gave us a Three-Number Combination in the form of 61, 64, and PB 12.

What will Saturday’s drawings bring? Will the {3-3} Pattern be bold enough to make an encore appearance? Will another Specific Order play for the first time in Powerball?

Fireworks, Sambas, and Three-Peats. Oh My!

Friday night was dang awesome. The Rio Olympics officially kicked off with a stellar opening ceremony for one. Hope y’all didn’t forget to play Mega Millions last night! While there was Carnival and fireworks (tape delay or no), a Mega Millions Pattern sambaed its way to a three-peat appearance.

The winning numbers for August 5th, 2016 were brought to us by 5, 18, 28, 54, 74, and MB 6.

No doubt about it. With its 114th appearance, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern far and away continues to be the most commonly played Mega Millions Pattern. In fact, this Pattern played earlier this week on August 2nd, 2016! With 292 Mega Millions drawings to date, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 39% of the time.

The [1-2-1-1-1] was the General Order of the night, having now made 32 appearances, its first since July 29th, 2016. Given the 114 drawings in which the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played, the [1-2-1-1-1] has played 28.1% of the time. When we look at all 292 Mega Millions drawings, the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order has played 11% of the time.

The 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its 6th appearance, its first since July 8th, 2016. Given the 32 appearances of the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has now played 18.75% of the time. Taking the 114 appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 5.26% of the time. Finally, when we look at all 292 Mega Millions drawings, the 1 2 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.05% of the time.

Last, but certainly not least, we come to the Three Number Combination in the form of 28, 74, and MB 6. The first time this Combination played was a little over two years ago, back on June 3rd, 2014.

Looking ahead to next week, will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern continue to pull ahead and aim for a four-peat, or will another Pattern break the streak?

Lotto Texas Retro and Powerball Surprises

If the “August Doldrums” were a thing, then Lotto Texas and Powerball didn’t get the memo Wednesday night. Lotto Texas continues to be quite the firecracker with the appearance of a Pattern that doesn’t get much play. In contrast to the July 30th drawing, Powerball shot for the stars, what with a Pattern that could very well become the new “Most Commonly Played Pattern”.

Lotto Texas

The winning numbers for August 3, 2016 were provided by 17, 18, 24, 26, 28, and 35.

Winning numbers. From lotterytrend.com

These numbers followed the {4-2} Pattern, which has now played 148 times. Although this Pattern previously played on July 23, 2016, there have been 1365 Lotto Texas drawings. Thus, the {4-2} Pattern has played 10.8% of the time.

The 2 4 0 Specific Order made its 25th appearance, and it too previously played on July 23, 2016. Given the 148 appearances of the {4-2} Pattern, the 2 4 0 Specific Order has played 16.9% of the time. Taking all 1365 Lotto Texas drawings into account, we can see that the 2 4 0 Specific Order played 1.83% of the time.

Two Four-Number Combinations played for a second time Wednesday. One such Combination was

  • 17, 18, 26, and 35, which first played October 6, 2007

and the other was

  • 18, 24, 26, and 28, which first played July 21, 2001.

Both Combinations first played in a time when VHS tapes were still a thing although by 2007 they had been largely phased out. For our younger readers who don’t remember or just don’t know what a VHS tape is, Google it.

And now on to Powerball.

 Powerball

The August 3rd Powerball numbers were brought to us by 9, 11, 27, 66, 67, and PB 2.

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played for the 30th time, its first appearance since July 27, 2016. With 87 Powerball drawings to date, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has now played 34.5% of the time.  Interestingly, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is the most commonly seen Pattern to date, having played 32 times.

On the General Order side of things, the [2-1-2-1] General Order played for the 8th time, having previously played on July 23, 2016. The [2-1-2-1] General Order has played 26.7% of the time if we look at just the 30 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern played. A look at all 87 Powerball drawings decreases the stats to 9.2% of all plays.

The 2 1 0 0 2 1 Specific Order made its very first appearance in Wednesday’s drawing! So far, the breakdown for this Specific Order is as follows:

  • 12.5% of the time (1/8) the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played
  • 3.3% of the time (1/30) the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played and
  • 1.15% of the time (1/87) given all Powerball drawings.

Powerball also saw a Combination play for the second time. We saw a Three-Number Combination in the form of 66, 67, and PB 2, which first played a little more than eight months ago on November 28, 2015.

Will Lotto Texas surprise us with a {4-2} Pattern encore? Will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern establish a streak and overtake the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern as Powerball’s “Most Commonly Seen Pattern”?

Tuesday Night Repeats: Mega Millions Edition

Ah, August. August, August, August. What can we say about August?

  • It’s the eighth month of the year (almost 2/3 of the way done with 2016).
  • It’s named for Augustus Caesar.
  • Kids and teachers are letting out a collective groan far and wide. Those who start in September get a one-month grace period.

Mega Millions started the month with an encore appearance of a Pattern we saw just last week!

The winning numbers for the Tuesday, August 2nd 2016 Mega Millions drawing were brought to us by 3, 12, 36, 54, 70, and MB 12.

The General Order of the evening was [2-1-1-1-1], which has now appeared in 30 drawings. Out of the 113 drawings in which the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played 26.5% of the time. When we take all 291 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played 10.3% of the time. We last saw this General Order on July 12th, 2016.

We saw the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order make its 7th appearance. Out of the 30 times the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 23.3% of the time. When we look at just the 113 Patterns, the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 6.19% of the time. Finally, looking at all 291 Mega Millions drawings, we see that the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 2.41% of the time. It’s been a while since the 2 0 1 1 1 1 Specific Order appeared; it last played April 29th, 2016.

And now, we come to the Three Number Combination. Tuesday’s Combination was provided by the numbers 54, 70, and MB 12, which in fact first played back on January 15th, 2016.

How festive can Mega Millions get this month? Will we see any Patterns play on a continuous streak or other plays of Olympian magnitude?

{2-2-1-1} Keeps It Chill

After Sunday’s report on Lotto Texas and Powerball, Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing brought things down to Earth. We didn’t see any new Specific Orders play, nor did we see the {4-1-1} Pattern repeat. What we did see was a more commonly played Pattern.

The winning numbers for the July 26, 2016 Mega Millions drawing were 1, 4, 31, 36, 54, and MB 9.

This play marked the 92nd appearance of the {2-2-1-1} Pattern, which previously played on July 5, 2016. With 289 drawings to date, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 31.8% of the time, and remains the second most commonly seen Mega Millions Pattern to date.

The General Order of the night was [2-2-1-1], which has now played 37 times and it previously played June 24, 2016. Out of the 92 times the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played 40.2% of the time. In fact, the [2-2-1-1] General Order is the most commonly played General Order associated with the {2-2-1-1} Pattern thus far. If we take all 289 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played 12.8% of the time.

The 2 0 2 1 0 1 Specific Order made its fifth appearance, its first since September 1, 2015. Breaking everything down, we get the following:

  • Appeared in 5 out of 37 drawings in which the [2-2-1-1] General Order has played, or 13.5%.
  • Appeared in 5 out of 92 drawings in which the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, or 5.4%
  • Appeared in 5 out of 289 Mega Millions drawings, or 1.73%.

We had three, count ‘em three Three-Number Combinations play for the second time last night:

  • 1, 4, 36, which first played January 5, 2016
  • 4, 31, MB 9, which first played October 2, 2015
  • 1, 54, MB 9 which first played April 4, 2014.

As we look ahead to Friday’s drawing, will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern begin to play catch-up, or will another Pattern play?

A Night of Encores and Firsts

This Friday’s Mega Millions drawing saw the return of a Pattern that played the previous week, as well as one Specific Order’s first ever appearance.

The winning numbers from the July 22nd, 2016 drawing were as follows: 8, 24, 25, 26, 30, and MB 7.

These numbers followed the {4-1-1} Pattern, which in fact played the previous Friday (July 15, 2016). As of July 22nd, the {4-1-1} Pattern has played in 11 out of 288 drawings, or 3.82% of the time.

The {4-1-1} Pattern gave way to the [1-4-1] General Order, which has now played in 6 out of 11 drawings in which the {4-1-1} has played, or 54.5%. Taking all 288 Mega Millions drawings into account, the [1-4-1] General Order has played 2.08% of the time. Like the {4-1-1} drawing, the [1-4-1] General Order last played on July 15, 2016.

Did the Specific Order also last play on July 15th?

No, no it didn’t. In fact, the 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order played for the first time last night! With that said, the 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 16.7% of the time that the [1-4-1] General Order has played. The 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has now played 1 out of 11 times that the {4-1-1} Pattern has played, or 9.09%. Finally, taking all 288 Mega Millions drawings into account, the 1 4 0 0 0 1 Specific Order has played 0.35% of the time.

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing also gave us two Three-Number Combinations that played for a second time. These were

  • 24, 26, and MB 7, which first played June 10, 2014.
  • 26, 30, and MB 7, which first played March 15, 2016.

As we look ahead to next week’s Mega Millions, will there be more Specific Orders making their debut? Will the {4-1-1} Pattern be seen again next Friday?

Mega Millions Makes Way for Three-Number Combo

Looking at the July 19th Mega Millions drawing, we saw one Pattern cement its title as “Most Commonly Seen”. Can y’all guess what it is?

The winning numbers were 3, 34, 54, 65, 66, and MB 4.

Winning numbers taken from lotterytrend-megamillions.com

These numbers followed the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which has now played in 111 out of 287 drawings. With a tally of 38.7% percent, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern is without equal in Mega Millions. It remains the most commonly seen Pattern to date! This Pattern previously played on July 12, 2016.

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern followed the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order. As of the July 19th drawing, this General Order has played 25 out of 111 times, or 22.5% of the Mega Millions drawings in which the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played. If we take all 287 drawings into account, then the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has played 8.71% of the time. Prior to last night, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order last played on May 27, 2016.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order gave way to the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order, which has now appeared 9 out of 25 times, or 36% of the drawings in which the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order has appeared. If we take all 111 drawings that had {2-1-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, then the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 8.11% of the time. Finally, looking at all 287 Mega Millions drawings, then the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 3.14% of the time. Prior to last night, the 1 0 1 1 2 1 Specific Order last played on October 16, 2015.

Lotto Texas and Powerball Saturday Night Combo Mambo

Saturday’s drawings for Lotto Texas and Powerball ended the week with a bang. The {3-2-1} Pattern streak in Lotto Texas had been broken and Powerball saw an Australia Play encore!

The winning numbers for the July 16th, 2016 Lotto Texas drawing were 6, 13, 16, 17, 44, and 54.

Instead of the {3-2-1} Pattern that we saw for five consecutive plays, these numbers followed the {4-2} Pattern. Of the 1360 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {4-2} Pattern has played 146 times, or 10.7% of the time. The last time we saw this Pattern play was back on May 25th, 2016.

The {4-2} Pattern broke down into the 4 0 2 Specific Order, which prior to Saturday’s drawing hadn’t played since March 30th, 2016. As of Saturday’s drawing, the 4 0 2 Specific Order has now played 20 times. Out of the 146 Lotto Texas drawings in which {4-2} has played, the 4 0 2 Specific Order has appeared 13.7% of the time. When we take all 1360 Lotto Texas drawings into account, this Specific Order has played only 1.47% of the time.

We also saw the appearance of three Four-Number Combinations, each having played twice. This is the first time our blog has covered such an occurrence! The three Four-Number Combinations were as follows:

These numbers gave way to the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which in fact played July 13th, 2016 (this past Wednesday). Given the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, we also saw the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. This consecutive Australia Play brings the total number of drawings for the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order up to 10. With 82 Powerball drawings to date, all three have played 12.2% of the time.

Powerball also saw some action with previously played Combinations. We saw two Three-Number Combinations make a second appearance. These Three-Number Combinations were

  • 40, 50, and 62, which first played February 10th, 2016.
  • 11, 50, and 62, which first played March 12th, 2016.

{3-2-1} Five in a Row and June Returns to Powerball

In the July 13th drawings, Lotto Texas basked in the July sun, whereas Powerball was visited by June. More specifically, Powerball was visited by this past June.

Lotto Texas

The winning numbers in the July 13th, 2016 Lotto Texas drawings were 3, 7, 16, 27, 34, and 46.

As of today, we can say that the {3-2-1} Pattern has made five, yes five consecutive appearances! The past four appearances were on June 29th, July 2nd, July 6th, and July 9th. The July 13th drawing brought the number of {3-2-1} Pattern appearances up to 711. Given the 1359 Lotto Texas drawings to date, this Pattern has played 52.3% of the time. There is no contest. The {3-2-1} Pattern continues to be far and away the most commonly seen Pattern in Lotto Texas!

The 3 2 1 Specific Order has now played 127 times, and in fact made a previous appearance in the July 2nd, 2016 drawing. Given the 711 times in which the {3-2-1} Pattern has played, this Specific Order has appeared in approximately 17.9% of these drawings. Taking all 1359 Lotto Texas drawings into account, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played 9.35% of the time.

The July 13th, 2016 Lotto Texas drawing also saw a Four-Number Combination play in the form of 16, 27, 34,46. The first time this Combination played was back on September 18th, 2013.

These numbers followed the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which in fact played on June 25th, 2016. The {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern has now appeared in 9 of 81 Powerball drawings. Given the {1-1-1-1-1-1} Pattern, we had a [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and a 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order. Since this an Australia Play, that means the [1-1-1-1-1-1] General Order and the 1 1 1 1 1 1 Specific Order have also appeared in 9 out of 81 drawings. All three have played in 11.1% of all Powerball drawings.

As we’ve explained in previous posts, an Australia Play is a fascinating event. With Powerball, it means that the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order are the same. Looking back on fourth grade geography (or a Google search), Australia is the only country that’s also a continent. Not only that, but Australia is the only permanently inhabited continent entirely within the Southern Hemisphere.

There was only one place where June didn’t have a grip on Powerball, and that was in the Three-Number Combination. This Combination was brought to us by 15, 29, and 10, and it first played on January 2nd, 2016.

{3-1-1-1} Shows Up for the Fourth

The month of July started off with the return of a Pattern we just saw two weeks ago. Talk about starting the holiday weekend with a bang!

The winning Mega Millions numbers for July 1, 2016 were 20, 41, 42, 45, 49 and MB 14.

Winning numbers taken from lotterytrend-megamillions.com
Winning numbers taken from lotterytrend-megamillions.com

These numbers played in a {3-1-1-1} Pattern, which was last seen on June 17, 2016. After last night, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 47 out of 282 Mega Millions drawings. This is approximately 16.7% of the time.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern gave way to the [1-3-1-1] General Order, which was previously seen on May 31, 2016. This General Order has now appeared in 14 of the 47 drawings, or 29.8% of the time, in which the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. If we were to take all of the 282 Mega Millions drawings to date, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played 5% of the time.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order broke down into a 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order, which, prior to last night, appeared almost a year ago on July 31, 2015. Given last night’s drawing the 0 1 3 0 1 1 Specific Order, has appeared in 4 out of the 14 drawings in which the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, or approximately 28.6%. This would be 1.4% if we were to take all 282 Mega Millions drawings into account!

We saw a Three-Number Combination in the form of 45, 49, and MB 14, which previously appeared on December 9, 2014.
