Cooling Off with a Trip Down Under

There was a shift in gears July 5^th. Lotto Texas decided to beat the heat, and the {3-2-1} Pattern streak, with an Australia Play. It wasn’t too chilly though, as Wednesday night also saw a repeating Four-Number Combination. Powerball saw its most commonly played Pattern, but there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations. That, and there were no new Specific Orders to speak of in either lottery.

Lotto Texas

The 197^th iteration of the {2-2-2} Pattern was thanks to numbers 4, 8, 24, 32, 47, and 51.

Likewise, the 2 2 2 Specific Order made its 197^th appearance. Both the Pattern and Specific Order have played in 13.5% of the 1461 Lotto Texas drawings. The last time an Australia Play appeared was on May 27^th, 2017.

This Australia Play also produced the repeating Four-Number Combination 4, 8, 47, and 51, which made its debut in the May 12^th, 2001 drawing.

Fun fact: The very first iPod made its debut five months later. It would be several years later before the iPhone made its mark on the world.

Powerball

The winning numbers were 4, 9, 16, 54, 68, and PB 21, bringing the number of appearances of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern to 67.

This Pattern has now played in 36.6% of the 183 Powerball drawings, and was last seen in the June 24^th, 2017 drawing.

Making its fifteenth appearance, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 22.4% of the 67 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, and in approximately 8.2% of all 183 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, this General Order played in the June 17^th, 2017 drawing.

Now with four appearances, the 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played in 26.667% of the fifteen drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared, and in 5.97% of the 67 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 2.19% of all 183 drawings, and was last seen in the May 27^th, 2017 drawing.

Will this cool down continue into Saturday night, or will things heat up again?

Australia Play + (Repeating) Combinations = Summer

Memorial Day means many things to those of us residing in Lottery Trend Country. Fallen soldiers are honored, for one. The long weekend kicks off summer vacation for some kids, and a teaser for others. Regardless of what weekend it is, Lotto Texas and Powerball appear to reserve some of their biggest plays for Saturday nights. How did May 27^th go? Lotto Texas saw a repeating Four-Number Combination and Powerball had a repeating Three-Number Combination, for one. There was also an Australia Play and a General Order and Specific Order that played together in a previous drawing. Which lottery had what play?

Lotto Texas

In just a week-and-a-half, Lotto Texas saw another Australia Play! The 196^th appearance of the {2-2-2} Pattern was marked by winning numbers 1, 16, 25, 34, 50, and 53.

Of course, the 2 2 2 Specific Order also made its 196^th appearance. The Australia Play has appeared in 13.5% of the 1450 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen May 17, 2017.

It wasn’t enough to have just an Australia Play. Saturday night’s drawing also harbored the repeating Four-Number Combination 16, 34, 50, and 53.

This Combination debuted in the December 19^th, 2007 drawing.

Powerball

Although Powerball didn’t see an Australia Play, it did see its most commonly played Pattern. Making its 61^st appearance, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern was represented by winning numbers 5, 10, 28, 55, 67, and PB 9.

This Pattern has now played in 35.5% of the 172 Powerball drawings, and previously played May 6, 2017.

With twelve appearances, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has played in 19.7% of the 61 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 6.98% of all Powerball drawings. Prior to Saturday, this General Order was last seen in the February 22, 2017 drawing.

The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its third appearance, and has now played in 25% of the twelve drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. When looking at the 61 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, the statistic becomes 4.92%, and shrinks to 1.74% when taking all 172 drawings into account. Like the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order, this Specific Order previously played in the February 22^nd drawing.

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 28, 67, and PB 9, and it debuted in the New Year’s Eve 2016 drawing.

Lotto Texas and Powerball ended May with a fireworks show of their own, and it looks like a hot summer is on the way. Onward to June!

Numbers on Walkabout

It seems that Australia Plays, and psyching people out with plays that seem to be Australia Plays, is now a thing. Lotto Texas saw a true Australia Play in the May 17^th drawing, as well as two repeating Four-Number Combinations. Powerball seemed to follow Mega Millions in the whole “Looking like an Australia Play, but not” bit. Well, almost. Out of the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order, only two of these made an encore.

Lotto Texas

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 16, 17, 29, 31, 37, and 51, marking the 195^th appearance of both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order.

The Australia Play has now played in 13.5% of the 1447 Lotto Texas drawings, and was last seen a few weeks ago in the April 29^th drawing.

The repeating Four-Number Combinations were

16, 29, 31, 51 (Debuted January 5^th, 2008)

Powerball

Right off the heels of this past Saturday’s drawing, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance! The winning numbers this time around were 4, 11, 39, 45, 48, and PB 09.

Now with 53 appearances, this Pattern has played in 31.4% of the 169 Powerball drawings.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order also made an encore appearance in Wednesday’s drawing. Statistics-wise, this General order has now played in 32.1% of the 53 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in approximately 10.1% of all drawings.

Earlier, I had said that Powerball almost followed Mega Millions in the “Looking like an Australia Play, but not” category. If you remember this past Saturday’s Lottery Binge, the May 12^th Mega Millions showed the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order had all appeared together before. Thing is, the Pattern, General Order, and Specific Order were not the same!

In Powerball’s situation, while the Pattern and General Order had made an encore appearance, the Specific Order did not. That’s because Wednesday’s drawing saw the debut of the 2 0 1 2 0 1 Specific Order. This has now played in 5.88% of the 17 drawings where the [2-1-2-1] General Order has appeared, 1.89% of the 53 drawings where the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 0.59% of all Powerball drawings.

Looking ahead to Saturday, will the {2-2-1-1} Pattern go for a three-peat? Will there be another Australia Play?

Number Storm

The steady rain from Wednesday night turned into a downpour Saturday. What sprouted after the rains of April 29^th were big plays for both Lotto Texas and Powerball.

Lotto Texas

One of the big events in Lotto Texas was the return of the Australia Play! As is the nature of such a play, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 194^th appearance. The winning numbers were 2, 5, 25, 35, 41, and 53.

Prior to Saturday night, the last time an Australia Play came about was in the February 22, 2017 drawing. The Australia Play has now appeared in 13.5% of 1442 Lotto Texas drawings.

Saturday’s Australia Play also harbored two repeating Four-Number Combinations. These were

2, 35, 41, 53 (Debuted August 6, 2011) and
2, 25, 35, 41 (Debuted July 5, 2014)

Powerball

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore appearance, with winning numbers 22, 23, 24, 45, 62, and PB 5.

Now with 31 appearances, this Pattern has played in 18.9% of the 164 Powerball drawings.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its eighth appearance, and has played in 25.8% of the 31 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared. This General Order has also played in 4.88% of all 164 drawings. The [3-1-1-1] had previously played in the January 11, 2017 drawing.

Getting into specifics, the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its third appearance. This Specific Order has played in 37.5% of the 8 drawings where the [3-1-1-1] General Order appeared, 9.68% of the 31 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 1.83% of all Powerball drawings. Prior to Saturday, the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the November 19, 2016 drawing.

Last, but certainly not least, a Three-Number Combination made a repeat appearance! The Combination was 22, 45, and PB 5.

This Combination made its debut in the November 14, 2015 drawing.

With April behind us and with May on the way, will a trend of big plays be established for Lotto Texas and Powerball?

Combos with a Side of Australia Play

The lead-up to Mardi Gras showed no signs of slowing down Wednesday night. After seeing the same Pattern in both Lotto Texas and Powerball, the February 22^nd drawing decided to take things up a notch. Both lotteries saw repeating Four-Number and Three-Number Combinations respectively, and there was an Australia Play.

Lotto Texas

The Australia Play was spotted in Lotto Texas. The {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 193^rd appearance, with winning numbers 4, 8, 21, 27, 52, and 53.

These two have played in 13.6% of the 1423 drawings to date. Lotto Texas last saw an Australia Play in the January 25, 2017 drawing almost a month ago.

The Lotto Texas Mardi Gras momentum got an extra boost with the repeat appearance of two Four-Number Combinations:

4, 8, 21, and 53 (Debuted February 10, 2016)
4, 8, 21, and 27 (Debuted February 19, 2011)

Powerball

The {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern retained its position as the most commonly seen Pattern. Its 49^th appearance was thanks to winning numbers 10, 13, 28, 52, 61, and PB 2.

As of Wednesday’s drawing, this Pattern has appeared in 33.8% of the 145 drawings, and had previously played in the recent February 11^th drawing.

The General Order of the evening was [2-1-1-1-1], making its eleventh appearance. This General Order has now played in 22.4% of the 49 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared and in 7.59% of all drawings. Like the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order was also last seen on February 11^th.

The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its second appearance and has now played in 18.2% of the 11 drawings where the [2-1-1-1-1] General Order has appeared. This Specific Order has also played in 4.08% of the 49 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared and in 1.38% of all Powerball drawings. The 2 1 0 1 1 1 Specific Order made its debut in the August 31, 2016 drawing.

Our Powerball coverage concludes with the repeating Three-Number Combination 10, 28, and 61, which made its debut in the July 9, 2016 drawing.

Wednesday Goes Boom

Talk about explosive! January 25, 2017 gifted us with not-commonly-seen Patterns in both Lotto Texas and Powerball. The lottery world was also graced with the debut of a new Specific Order.

Lotto Texas

The Pattern of the evening was {2-2-2}, gifted to us by winning numbers 1, 14, 19, 32, 37, and 46.

Not only did we see the 192^nd appearance of the {2-2-2} Pattern, we saw the 192^nd appearance of the [2-2-2] General Order and the 2 2 2 Specific Order. All three have now appeared in 13.6% of the 1415 drawings to date. For any new readers out there, we here at Lottery Binge like to call this setup an Australia Play. We last saw an Australia Play in the December 7, 2016 drawing.

This Australia Play brought us not one, but two repeating Four-Number Combinations.

1, 14, 37, 46 (debuted December 10, 2016) and
14, 19, 32, 37 (debuted February 17, 2016)

Powerball

Powerball may not have had an Australia Play, but it did have something rarer. The rarely-seen {3-2-1} Pattern made its fifth appearance. Yes, fifth! The winning numbers were 18, 28, 62, 66, 68, and PB 22.

This Pattern has played in 3.65% of the 137 Powerball drawings, and believe it or not, this was the Pattern to ring in the new year on January 4, 2017.

The [2-3-1] General Order was also last seen in the January 4^th drawing. Now with four appearances, this General Order has played in 80% of the five drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 2.92% of all drawings.

By process of elimination, Powerball is the one with a new Specific Order. The 0 2 0 0 3 1 Specific Order, to be precise. This Specific Order has now played in 25% of the four drawings where the [2-3-1] General Order has appeared, 20% of the five drawings where the {3-2-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 0.73% of all Powerball drawings.

As we march on to the last weekend before the Super Bowl, will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to surprise us with rarely-seen Patterns?

Mid-Week Fireballs

We’re only a week into December and so far, it’s shaping up to be quite a month! December 7, 2016 gave us a Pattern in Lotto Texas that we haven’t seen in a while, and Powerball had an interesting play as well.

Lotto Texas

Although we didn’t see a repeating Four-Number Combination this time around, we saw an Australia Play. That is, the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order made their 191^st appearance. The winning numbers were 4, 5, 29, 34, 40, and 53.

As of Wednesday, the {2-2-2} Pattern has played in 13.6% of the 1401 Lotto Texas drawings. As is the nature of the Australia Play, this statistic also applies to the 2 2 2 Specific Order. We last saw both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order in the October 29, 2016 drawing.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern did not make an encore appearance. Instead, we saw the {3-1-1-1} Pattern play. The 23^rd appearance of this Pattern was made possible by winning numbers 41, 48, 49, 53 64, and PB 20.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played in 18.7% of the 123 Powerball drawings to date. Prior to Wednesday, this Pattern previously played in the November 26, 2016 drawing.

The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 9^th appearance, its first since the November 12^th, 2016 drawing. This General Order has now played in 39.1% of the 23 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and in 7.32% of all Powerball drawings.

Next, the 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order made its second appearance Wednesday night. This Specific Order has now played in 22.2% of the 9 drawings where the [1-3-1-1] General Order has appeared, 8.70% of the 23 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has appeared, and 1.63% of all 123 drawings. The 0 0 1 1 3 1 Specific Order made its debut in the November 21, 2015 drawing.

Finally, Powerball saw two Three-Number Combinations repeat. These were

49, 64, and PB 20, which first played August 27, 2016, and
48, 49, and PB 20, which first played October 15, 2016

End-of-Month Blowout

Like the month of October itself, Lotto Texas and Powerball didn’t cool down much Saturday night. The October 29^thdrawings provided some interesting developments to mark the end of the month, one such development being how the repeating Four-Number Combinations in Lotto Texas played out. For those of you who were awaiting the next installment of the Powerball Pattern Tango, that has been postponed for the time being.

Lotto Texas

We were treated to the {2-2-2} Pattern, provided to us by winning numbers 11, 18, 20, 28, 41, and 42.

With 190 appearances to date, the {2-2-2} Pattern is currently the second-most commonly played Pattern in Lotto Texas. The {2-2-2} Pattern is a special one; not only is it a Pattern, its corresponding Specific Order is also 2 2 2. We here at Lottery Binge like to call this scenario an Australia Play. Since we got ourselves here an Australia Play, both the {2-2-2} Pattern and the 2 2 2 Specific Order have played in 6.47% of the 1390 Lotto Texas drawings. The last time we saw an Australia Play was a little over a couple of months ago in the August 17, 2016 drawing.

We saw two Four-Number Combinations repeat. The first one was 20, 28, 41, and 42, which made its debut back in the August 22^nd, 2009 drawing.

The second Combination, 11, 20, 28, and 42 has an interesting history behind it. This combination has played not once, but twice before! The Four-Number Combination 11, 20, 28, and 42 played for the first time on June 3, 2006, and again on March 27, 2010.

Powerball

In lieu of the Powerball Pattern Tango, we saw the 18^th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern. The winning numbers were 19, 20, 21, 42, 48, and PB 23.

Like its Lotto Texas friend {2-2-2}, the {3-1-1-1} is currently the second-most commonly seen Powerball Pattern. Unlike its friend, {3-1-1-1} is not capable of being an Australia Play. Out of the 112 Powerball drawings, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played 16.1% of the time. Prior to Saturday’s drawing, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern previously played two weeks ago in the October 15, 2016 drawing.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its fourth appearance, its first since the June 4, 2016 drawing. Out of the 18 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has played 22.2% of the time. This becomes 3.57% when we look at all 112 drawings.

Finally, we come to the debut of the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order. So far, it has appeared in 25% of the four drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order of the evening. When we look at the 18 drawings where the {3-1-1-1} Pattern played, the 0 3 1 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 5.56% of the time. This becomes 0.89% when we look at all 112 drawings.

As we shift gears to November, will Lotto Texas and Powerball continue their hot streak, or will there be a cool down?

A Visit Down Under and a Series of Firsts

In our last Lotto Texas/Powerball post, we wondered whether or not we’d see the {3-2-1} go for a repeat and if {3-1-1-1} would have a three-peat, respectively. Expectations for these streaks, or the possible beginnings of such, were dashed Wednesday night. Out of the ashes came a Lotto Texas Australia Play and a very rarely played Pattern in Powerball.

Lotto Texas

The winning numbers for the August 17, 2016 were provided by 5, 14, 21, 23, 41, and 53.

With its 189^th appearance, the {2-2-2} Pattern played for the first time since June 11, 2016. Given that there have been 1369 Lotto Texas drawings to date, this Pattern has played 13.8% of the time.

This gave way to the 2 2 2 Specific Order, which also previously played on June 11^th, 2016. For Lotto Texas, remember that instances where the Pattern and the Specific Order match are called Australia Plays on our blog. Thus, given the very nature of Australia Plays, the 2 2 2 Specific Order has also appeared in 189 drawings and has played 13.8% of the time.

While not an encore of the {3-2-1} Pattern, an Australia Play is nothing to sneeze at. In fact, this Australia Play also saw a repeat of two Four-Number Combinations!

Powerball

Powerball’s winning numbers were 33, 44, 49, 50, 52, and PB 8.

With these numbers, the {4-1-1} Pattern has now appeared a grand total of two, yes two, times. Given that we’ve had 91 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 2.20% of the time. This Pattern played for the first time on April 13, 2016.

The [1-4-1] General Order made its debut, and has appeared in half of all drawings in which the {4-1-1} Pattern has played. Taking all 91 drawings into account, the [1-4-1] General Order has played 1.10% of the time.

The 0 0 1 4 0 1 Specific Order also made its debut in Wednesday’s drawing. Like the [1-4-1] General Order, it’s played in 1.10% of all Powerball drawings.

As we look ahead to Saturday’s drawing, will the Lotto Texas Australia Play and the Powerball {4-1-1} Pattern be bold enough to make an encore?

Lotto Texas Throwback and Powerball’s Most Common Pattern

Some very interesting plays took place Saturday night with Lotto Texas and Powerball. In fact, Lotto Texas saw some of the biggest draws of the night! A very special Pattern played and the Four-Number Combination was a trip in the Wayback Machine, demonstrating even more the power of repetition.

Lotto Texas

The winning numbers for June 11, 2016 were 5, 10, 25, 36, 39, and 41.

These numbers played in a {2-2-2} Pattern, and this has now appeared 188 times in 1350 drawings, or 13.9%. Now, this Pattern isn’t like all the other Patterns we’ve discussed for Lotto Texas so far. In fact, this Pattern is much like Australia.

Why are we discussing Australia on a lottery blog you wonder? If you remember your fourth grade geography class, you learned that Australia is the only country that is also a continent. The {2-2-2} Pattern is also a Specific Order! Logically then, whenever a {2-2-2} Pattern appears, the 2 2 2 Specific Order will always play. This Pattern played a few weeks ago on May 14, 2016. Due to the nature of the {2-2-2} Pattern, it shall henceforth also be known as an Australia Play.

This particular {2-2-2} Pattern brought yet another surprise. The last four winning numbers 25, 36, 39, and 41 make up a Four-Number Combination and this Combination was last played September 2, 2000. We’re talking pre-social media, pre-iPhone days when a landline was still needed to connect to the Internet. This Four-Number Combination is in the red box below.

Powerball

Powerball may not have had the same 1-2-3 punch as Lotto Texas last night, but there were still some noteworthy observations. The winning numbers were 20, 27, 36, 41, 58 and PB 7.

The winning Pattern was a {2-2-1-1} and it last played just two weeks ago on May 28, 2016. As of today, this Pattern has played 23 times out of 72 drawings to date, or 31.9%. This is a commonly played Pattern.

NOTE: The most common Pattern for Powerball to date is in fact {2-1-1-1-1}. When that Pattern plays again, we’ll also provide the previous date in which it played.

The following General Orders are possible with a {2-2-1-1} Pattern:

The General Order that appeared was [2-2-1-1], which in fact is the most commonly seen General Order for this particular Pattern. Of the 23 times the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, the [2-2-1-1] General Order last played March 23, 2016. If we take all of the times the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played, this General Order has appeared only 13.9% of the time. The 0 2 2 0 1 1 Specific Order played, bringing it to a total of 2 out of 10 times, or 20% of the time this particular General Order has played.
