Takin’ a Chill Pill

Compared to the past few lottery drawings, the October 12^th drawings for Lotto Texas and Powerball were peaceful. There were no throwbacks to the dial-up days and the Pattern Tango was absent for another night. Even in a state of serenity, we saw a replay (of sorts) in Lotto Texas and a repeat in Powerball.

Lotto Texas

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 14, 33, 38, 39, 47, and 52.

The {4-1-1} Pattern made its 154^th appearance, its first since the September 24^th drawing a few weeks ago. Out of the 1385 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {4-1-1} Pattern has now played 11.1% of the time.

This hint of September carried over to the 1 1 4 Specific Order, which also made its last appearance in the September 24^th drawing. Now having appeared 52 times, it has played in 33.8% of the 154 drawings that have {4-1-1} as the winning Pattern. Taking all 1385 drawings into account, the 1 1 4 Specific Order has played 3.75% of the time.

Powerball

Like Lotto Texas, Powerball’s winning Pattern isn’t one that commonly seen. The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 16^th appearance with winning numbers 16, 30, 34, 37, 44, and PB 16.

Given that there have now been 107 drawings, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has played 14.95% of the time. The {3-1-1-1} in fact played in this past Saturday’s drawing, making this a repeat. Not too shabby!

The [1-3-1-1] General Order made its 7^th appearance, its first since the July 30^th, 2016 drawing. Out of the 16 drawings that have {3-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, the [1-3-1-1] General Order has played 43.75% of the time, and 6.54% when looking at all 107 drawings.

Powerball also surprised us with the debut of the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order. With that said, it has appeared in 14.285% of the 7 drawings that have [1-3-1-1] as the General Order. When looking at the 16 drawings where {3-1-1-1} is the winning Pattern, the 0 1 3 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 6.25%. This shrinks to 0.93% when looking at all 107 drawings.

Even when taking it easy, Lotto Texas and Powerball are full of surprises! Will Saturday’s drawing be as peaceful as this one, or will it be a blowout?

Back in the Swing of Things

It took a while, but it finally came. Let it be known that on October 11^th, 2016, Mega Millions put down the pumpkin spice latte and the slow roast and had a blowout night. The spectacle included, but was not limited to a rarely seen Pattern, and the debut of a new Specific Order.

The {4-1-1} Pattern made its first appearance since the July 22^nd, 2016 drawing. The winning numbers were 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, and MB 3.

After 12 appearances and 311 drawings to date, the {4-1-1} Pattern has played 3.86% of the time. To add on, the {4-1-1} is the second-least Pattern played.

The [4-1-1] General Order made its sixth appearance last night, and has appeared in 50% of the 12 drawings where {4-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This shrinks considerably to 1.93% when we look at all 311 drawings. Now here’s the kicker: this General Order previously played 1.5 years ago!

That’s not a typo, ladies and gents. Prior to Tuesday’s drawing, the [4-1-1] Pattern was last seen in the April 21^st, 2015 drawing.

The 0 0 4 1 0 1 Specific Order made its world premiere. Given the six drawings that have [4-1-1] as the General Order of the night, the 0 0 4 1 0 1 Specific Order has played 16.67% of the time. When looking at the 12 drawings that have {4-1-1} as the winning Pattern, this Specific Order has played 8.33% of the time, and 0.32% when looking at all 311 drawings.

To further prove that it’s no slouch, Mega Millions gave us a repeating Three-Number Combination. The lucky numbers were 42, 45, and MB 3.

The first time this Combination played was back on March 13^th, 2015.

When Mega Millions returns from a break, it returns in style. Will this vigor return in Friday’s drawing, or will the enticing taste of pumpkin spice latte lure it into a state of mellowness?

September in Passing

Lotto Texas and Powerball paid their respects to September as we enter the second (full) week of October. Both lotteries saw Patterns, not to mention their respective Specific Order and General Order, play last month. The October 8^th drawings also gave us a surprise or two, not to mention a reprieve.

Lotto Texas

Saturday’s drawing saw the {4-2} Pattern, making its first appearance since the September 17^th drawing. The winning numbers were 7, 15, 44, 52, 53, and 54.

With 153 appearances, and 1384 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {4-2} Pattern has now played 11.1% of the time.

The 2 0 4 Specific Order made its 19^th appearance, the first since the September 14^th drawing. Out of the 153 drawings that have {4-2} as the winning Pattern, the 2 0 4 Specific Order has played 12.4% of the time. When we look at all 1384 drawings, this becomes 1.37%.

We also saw not one, but two Four-Number Combinations make an encore appearance:

15, 52, 53, and 54, which first played May 30^th, 2012, and
7, 44, 53, and 54 which first played November 21^st, 2015.

Powerball

The Pattern Tango between {2-1-1-1-1} and {2-2-1-1} did not take place last night. Instead, we got to see another Pattern get a chance to play. That lucky Pattern was {3-1-1-1}. The winning numbers were thanks to 3, 54, 61, 64, 68, and PB 9.

Saturday’s drawing marked the 15^th appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern, its first since September 21^st. Out of the 106 Powerball drawings, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 14.2% of the time.

The [1-1-3-1] General Order made its 6^th appearance, and it too previously played in the September 21^st drawing. Percentage wise, it comes in at 40% of the 15 drawings where {3-1-1-1} is the winning Pattern, and 5.66% of all drawings.

The 1 0 0 3 1 1 Specific Order made its world debut. With that said, the 1 0 0 3 1 1 Specific Order has occurred in 16.67% of the 6 drawings that have [1-1-3-1] as the General Order of the evening. When looking at the 15 drawings that have {3-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, this becomes 6.667%, and 0.94% when looking at all 106 drawings.

We saw the Three-Number Combination 3, 61, and 64 make an encore appearance last night. The first time we saw it was earlier this year in the January 16^th drawing.

As we look ahead to next week, will we continue to see Patterns that don’t get much airtime, or will the Pattern Tango resume? Will we see debuts of new Specific Orders?

Needs More Baste!

Mega Millions continues to take things nice and slow. The fireworks and exploding pumpkins, for the time being, have been passed to Powerball, Lotto Texas, and (US) football, professional and college alike. Bring a plate and some pumpkin spice latte: here is the rundown for the October 7^th, 2016 Mega Millions.

Friday’s drawing gave us winning numbers 24, 37, 42, 50, 65, and MB 14.

Now with 123 appearances, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern continues to be the Most Commonly Played Pattern by a fairly large margin. Given that there have been 310 drawings to date, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern has played 39.7% of the time. This Pattern actually played near the beginning of last week in the September 27^th drawing.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General Order made its 37^th appearance, and it too was last seen in the September 27^th drawing. Out of the 123 drawings where the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern appeared, this General Order has played 30.1% of the time. When we look at all 310 drawings thus far, this becomes 11.9%.

Last, but certainly not least, we come to the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order, which has now played four times. In the 37 drawings that [1-2-1-1-1] was the General Order, the 0 1 2 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 10.8% of the time. Looking at the 123 drawings that have {2-1-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, this becomes 3.25% and 1.29% when taking the 310 drawings into account.

As we look ahead to next week, will Mega Millions continue to enjoy its slow roast and pumpkin spice latte, or will we see an upset?

An Encore and a Never-Ending Tango

Lotto Texas and Powerball continue to ride off the high from Saturday, ramming through October full speed ahead. Along the way, they became intertwined.

“Wha!?” you wonder. Here’s the situation: The Most Commonly Played Pattern played for both lotteries on October 5^th. Well, for Lotto Texas, anyway. Powerball is in the midst of yet another power struggle. A Pattern Tango, if you will.

Lotto Texas

The {3-2-1} Pattern continues to be the most commonly seen Lotto Texas Pattern. This extra edge was thanks to winning numbers 4, 9, 11, 27, 40, and 42.

With 721 appearances to date, it’s ahead of its nearest competitor by leaps and bounds. Out of the 1383 drawings to date, the {3-2-1} Pattern has played 52.13% of the time. To make things even sweeter, this Pattern previously played just this Saturday!

The 3 1 2 Specific Order made its 129^th appearance, its first since the August 13^th, 2016 drawing. When looking at just the 721 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played 17.9% of the time. After taking all 1383 drawings into account, we get 9.33%.

We finish out our Lotto Texas coverage by giving a mention to Four-Number Combination 4, 27, 40, and 42, which first played August 16, 2014.

Although not retro, two years is nothing to sneeze at.

Powerball

And now we come to Powerball. After an appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Wednesday night, it’s tied with the {2-2-1-1} yet again. The 38^th appearance of the {2-1-1-1-1} was brought to us by 8, 18, 27, 29, 60, and PB 15.

We’ve had 105 Powerball drawings thus far, and since we’re looking at a tie here, both the {2-1-1-1-1} and the {2-2-1-1} are sitting pretty at 36.2% each. Keeping the focus on the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern here, the {2-1-1-1-1} previously played a few weeks ago in the September 17, 2016 drawing.

The [1-2-1-1-1] General order made its eighth appearance, its first since the May 7, 2016 drawing. Out of the 38 drawings with {2-1-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, this General Order has played 21.1% of the time. When looking at all 105 Powerball drawings, this becomes 7.62%.

Finally, we come to the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order, having now made its third appearance. When we look at the 8 drawings with [1-2-1-1-1] being the General Order, the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order has played 37.5% of the time. As we move on to the 38 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern, this Specific Order has played 7.89%, and 2.86% when taking all 105 drawings into account. Prior to Wednesday’s drawing, the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order previously played in the April 9, 2016 drawing.

October is still young. Will Lotto Texas continue to keep its composure as retro (and not so retro) throwbacks appear? Has the Pattern Tango between {2-1-1-1-1} and {2-2-1-1} become a new feature in Powerball?

Slow Roast: Mega Millions Style

With the start of a new month, that gives Mega Millions a chance to start with a bang! What better way to start October than with an Australia Play, or the debut of a new Specific Order, right? Well, we saw none of those things. In fact, this month started the way last month ended: by taking things nice and slow.

The {3-1-1-1} Pattern made its 50^th appearance in Tuesday’s drawing, thanks to winning numbers 18, 29, 30, 54, 66, and MB 1.

Given that there have been 309 Mega Millions drawings thus far, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 16.2% of the time. This Pattern is actually how Mega Millions welcomed autumn; it previously played a few weeks ago in the September 23^rd drawing.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its 17^th appearance, and it too was last seen in the September 23^rd drawing. Out of the 50 drawings that feature {3-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, the [3-1-1-1] General Order has played 34% of the time. When we take all 309 drawings into account, this become 5.50% of the time.

Finally, we come to the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order, which played for the third time. Of the 17 drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order of the evening, the 0 3 0 1 1 1 Specific Order has played 17.6% of the time. This shrinks to 6% when looking at the 50 drawings that have {3-1-1-1} as the winning Pattern, and 0.97% when taking all 309 drawings into account.

October is still young, and there’s plenty of time for Mega Millions to get that pep in its step. Will it usher in the weekend with a rarely seen Pattern? Will we see an encore appearance of the {3-1-1-1} Pattern?

A Throwback and a Title Snatching

We’re now officially in the month of October. The (US) football season is in full swing and the holiday season is right around the corner. Lotto Texas and Powerball show no signs of easing up. In fact, they live for the weekend! Saturday nights, and the October 1, 2016 round was no exception, are the most likely to give us throwbacks to the pre-smartphone days and Pattern power struggles.

Lotto Texas

The 720^th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern was provided by winning numbers 10, 16, 17, 20, 22, and 53.

Out of the 1382 Lotto Texas drawings to date, the {3-2-1} Pattern has now played 52.1% of the time. We previously saw this Pattern a few weeks ago in the September 21, 2016 drawing.

The 3 2 1 Specific Order made its 128^th appearance, its first since the July 13, 2016 drawing. Of the 720 drawings in which the {3-2-1} Pattern appeared, the 3 2 1 Specific Order has played 17.8% of the time. When looking at all 1382 Lotto Texas drawings, this becomes 9.26%.

The throwback of the evening was brought to us by the encore appearance of a Four-Number Combination. The numbers were 10, 16, 20, and 22.

Yes, this particular Four-Number Combination pre-dates the smartphone days by quite a bit. The first time this Combination played was nearly sixteen years ago! October 14, 2000 to be precise.

Powerball

The {2-2-1-1} Pattern wasn’t satisfied with a tie. Once again, it took the title of Most Commonly Played Pattern away from the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern. This time around, the numbers that propelled {2-2-1-1} above and beyond were 2, 12, 50, 61, 64, PB 1.

Now having played 38 times out of 104, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 36.5% of the time. This is in contrast to the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern, which has appeared in 37 drawings and played 35.6% of the time. To add insult to injury, this is a three-peat appearance for the {2-2-1-1}; this Pattern previously played in Wednesday’s drawing as well as the September 24^th drawing.

The [2-1-2-1] General Order made its 11^th appearance, its first since the August 24, 2016 drawing. Out of the 38 drawings with {2-2-1-1} as the winning Pattern, the [2-1-2-1] General Order has played 28.9% of the time. Looking at all 104 Powerball drawings, this becomes 10.6%.

The 2 0 0 1 2 1 Specific Order made its third appearance. Given that there have been 11 instances of the [2-1-2-1] General Order playing, the 2 0 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 27.3% of those drawings. When looking at the 38 drawings that have the {2-2-1-1} as the winning Pattern, 2 0 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played 7.89% of the time. Finally, this becomes 2.78% when looking at all 104 drawings. We have to go back to the January 6, 2016 drawing to see when this Specific Order previously played.

For the second time in this blog’s history, we saw a Two-Number Combination play for the fourth time. This came in the form of 61 and 64.

Looking ahead to the first full week of the month, will Lotto Texas give us another retro throwback? Will {2-2-1-1} hold on to its lead in Powerball and not let go?

August Throwbacks and a Visit from Last Year

To think that we’re already three-quarters of the way through 2016! Mega Millions continued to hold onto its pumpkin spice latte…while setting off a firecracker or two.

September ended with the 18^th appearance of the {3-2-1} Pattern, which doesn’t play very often in this particular lottery. Friday’s winning numbers were 21, 30, 47, 50, 57, and MB 9.

Now with 308 Mega Millions drawings to date, the {3-2-1} Pattern has now played 5.84% of the time. We last saw this Pattern a little over a month ago in the August 26^th drawing.

The [3-2-1] General Order made its 10^th appearance, and it too previously played in the August 26^th drawing. This General Order has appeared in 55.6% of the 18 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern, and in 3.25% of all 308 Mega Millions drawings.

The 0 2 0 3 0 1 Specific Order bucks the trend, as it did not make an appearance in the August 26^th drawing. We need to go farther back, far as in January 29^th, 2016. Now with its third appearance, the 0 2 0 3 0 1 Specific Order has played in 30% of the 10 drawings where [3-2-1] was the winning General Order of the evening. This becomes approximately 16.7% when we look at the 18 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern, and 0.97% when taking all 308 drawings into account.

Finally, we come to the encore appearance of the Three Number Combination 21, 30, and MB 9.

What makes this appearance noteworthy is that it played for the first time on September 29^th, 2015. That’s almost exactly one year prior to Friday’s drawing. Talk about timing!

As October begins and we enter the final quarter, will Mega Millions begin to launch more firecrackers?
