The Incredible, (Non)Edible Rising Mega Millions Jackpot

Summer. Love it or hate it, the temperatures are rising even more. Shaved ice and a trip to the pool offer temporary relief. The real solution, at least for those of us in Houston, is cranking up the air conditioner. In parallel fashion, the Mega Millions jackpot rose once again July 17th and now stands tall at $422 million. That’s more than enough to pay off that crazy-high electric bill! Which Pattern and its General/Specific Orders is responsible for this madness!?

General Lottery Analysis

Will the heat turn up even higher Friday night? Could the Mega Millions jackpot be flirting with a jackpot close to, or even exceeding $500 million soon?

Common Patterns and the Jackpot Escalation

The temperature and jackpots continued to rise July 14th. We’re now roughly halfway through the month with no grand prize winners in either Lotto Texas or Powerball. With their respective jackpots now at $10.75 million and $110 million, the lotteries had another thing in common: the appearance of their most commonly seen Patterns.

Will the jackpots continue to rise Wednesday? Could there be Pattern encores or will something else make its appearance?

Getting Lucky With {2-2-1-1}

Once again, Mega Millions had a drawing fall on Friday the 13th. If crazy-large jackpots are your thing, then July 13th was your lucky night! The jackpot continues to climb and now stands at $375 million. And that means Mega Millions fever continues to spread. Let’s take a closer look at the numbers that kept the rising jackpot train going.

The {4-1-1} on the Playback

Today’s post is going to start with a fun fact about July 11th. In the U.S., it’s National 7-11 Day. The “holiday” is commemorated by the convenience stores offering free small Slurpees. In lieu of these drinks, Lotto Texas and Powerball offered rising jackpots of $10.25 million and $100 million, respectively. With Powerball inching closer to “insanely large jackpot” territory (Mega Millions is already there), things got sweeter when after so many instances of coming close, a playback finally occurred.

Summer Sizzle: {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern Edition

How interesting! The hottest days of summer are upon us, and Mega Millions piled on. There has yet to be a grand prize winner and as of the July 10th drawing, the jackpot is $340 million. Of course, the most commonly seen Pattern had to have a hand in this.

One thing for certain is that an insane blowout is on the horizon. Will someone win the grand prize Friday, or will it continue to rise with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern encore? If the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern develops a solid Pattern streak as the jackpot rises, the fallout, of course, will be astronomical.

A Streak of Playbacks

Lotto Texas is like the wimpy kid going up against the larger kids in a competition. He may not be the biggest, the strongest, or the fastest, but he can use his wits and come out on top. Compared to Powerball and Mega Millions, Lotto Texas has a “wimpy” jackpot – $90 million and $306 million, respectively, vs. $9.5 million*. Yet, Lotto Texas can generate its own hype. July 7th saw the fourth drawing in a row where a playback happened. That is, both the Pattern and Specific Order played together on a previous date. Interestingly, Powerball hasn’t had one in a while, although it did come close.

*$9.5 million is nothing to sneeze at.

Will Wednesday’s drawing see a fifth playback in Lotto Texas, and will Powerball get to see one?

Rising Jackpots and an Uncommon Mega Millions Pattern

One thing that can be said about this summer is that there has yet to be a long-lasting Pattern streak. Last summer and the summer before, this was in Mega Millions’ bag of goodies. This summer, another goody has been added to the arsenal: a rising jackpot. With no grand prize winner after the July 6th drawing, the jackpot is now $306 million. There was also a Pattern that, although common in Lotto Texas, isn’t so for Mega Millions.

The winning numbers then were 6, 10, 44, 47, 54, and MB 6. Also note that the drawing for that night was under the old system (“regular balls” = 1-75; “Mega balls” = MB 1 through MB 15).

The Encore and Playback Fireworks Spectacular

Another Fourth of July has come and gone. Whether watching them from home or in a park, the holiday never seems to be complete without one thing: fireworks! Lotto Texas and Powerball put on their own fireworks show Wednesday night. In addition to rising jackpots – $9 million and $80 million, respectively – there was the display of a Pattern encore and a fine showing of a playback.
