A Monster Unleashed

Insanity! Inconceivable! Yet, here we are, face-to-face with a monster. A big ‘un, too.

Mega Millions continued its rampage October 12th. A growth spurt sent the grand prize soaring to $654 million! What’s more is that this wasn’t the only way Mega Millions left its mark.

General Lottery Analysis

After a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern fireball October 9th, another round came out Friday. The 175th appearance was thanks to winning numbers 4, 24, 46, 61, 70, and MB 7.

Of the 401 Mega Millions drawings to date, this Pattern has played in 43.6% of them.

There were no other encores, but the effects of the rampage were just as strongly felt.

The [1-1-1-2-1] General Order made its 41st appearance and has now played in 23.4% of the 175 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 10.2% of all 401 drawings. Prior to Friday night, the [1-1-1-2-1] General Order played on September 11, 2018.

Now with four appearances, the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order has played in 9.76% of the 41 drawings where the General Order was [1-1-1-2-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 2.29% of the 175 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in roughly 1% of all 401 drawings. We last saw the 1 1 0 1 2 1 Specific Order on June 1, 2018.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Amidst the rubble were two repeating Three-Number Combinations:

  • 4, 46, 70 (Debuted April 15, 2014)

There’s a good chance that yet another growth spurt will take place before Tuesday. Will a {2-1-1-1-1} three-peat be the thing that stops it, or will the grand prize grow even more? All that’s known is that whoever slays the beast is going to walk away much richer.

Lottery Wednesday Warmup

As things (finally) cooled down for us in Houston, things started heating up in the lottery world October 10th. Once again, the grand prizes for Lotto Texas and Powerball had yet to be won. Wednesday night, they rose to $11.25 million and $314 million, respectively. In a complete 180 of what we saw last time, rising jackpots were not the highlight of the evening.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

This Combination made its debut in the September 30, 2006 drawing. Will another twelve years pass before this Combination plays again?

Powerball

General Lottery Analysis

Powerball was where most of the action was. In addition to a crazy-high grand prize, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made an encore! The 112th appearance of the Pattern was marked by winning numbers 8, 23, 27, 42, 60, and PB 7.

Given that there have been 315 Powerball drawings, this Pattern has played 35.6% of the time and previously played on October 6, 2018.

Along for the encore ride was the [1-2-1-1-1] General Order, which made its 29th appearance. This General Order has now played in 25.9% of the 112 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 9.21% of all 315 drawings. Could it be that a playback was on the horizon?

Now with five appearances, the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order has played in 17.2% of the 29 drawings where the General Order was [1-2-1-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 4.46% of the 112 drawings where {2-1-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern and in 1.59% of all 315 drawings. A playback wasn’t meant to be. The 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order previously played on July 26, 2017.

Three-Number Combination(s)

The repeating Three-Number Combination of the evening was 8, 27, and 60.

A special repeating Three-Number Combination. Source: lotterytrend-powerball.com.

This Combination made its debut on October 5, 2016. Now, this isn’t an ordinary repeat. One, this Combination debuted two years ago (give or take a few days), and, the 1 2 1 0 1 1 Specific Order played that night too! That night, the winning numbers were 8, 18, 27, 29, 60, and PB 15.

Are more Pattern encores on the horizon? Will the grand prizes rise once more after Saturday’s drawing?

The Grand 400

Mega Millions had its 400th drawing October 9, 2018. To commemorate this occasion, there was no grand prize winner. An odd way to celebrate, yes? Well, it turned out that the jackpot rose to $548 million. For the first time in three months, the prize exceeded half a billion dollars!

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 20, 22, 39, 54, 60, and MB 18, the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern made its 174th appearance.

Finally, when taking all 400 drawings into consideration, this Specific Order has played 3.25% of the time. The 0 2 1 1 1 1 Specific Order was last seen on January 12, 2018.

Three Number Combination(s)

As grand a night October 9th was, there were no repeating Three-Number Combinations.

There’s a strong possibility that the jackpot will rise yet again before the official drawing Friday. Will the {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore Friday night, and will that make someone richer beyond his or her wildest dreams?

Lottery Plot Twist

Lotteries are like stories. They’re told with numbers rather than words, and they have their own twists. After a wild and crazy September, the results of October 6th showed a much quieter night. The only “event” was yet another rise in the jackpots for both Lotto Texas and Powerball. Their respective grand prizes rose to $10.5 million and $282 million.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Three-Number Combinations were absent this time around.

Things may be cooling down, but the grand prizes continue to go up. Will Wednesday see Pattern encores or possibly a grand prize winner?

Mega Millions and the Second Summer

In the spirit of early-October warmth and humidity, Mega Millions had a hot and sticky October 5th. Once again, the jackpot rose, and just like this past summer, it entered “stupid rich” territory. The grand prize rose to an astounding $470 million! To liven up the night even more, Mega Millions showed that it had an offbeat sense of humor.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 27, 28, 32, 41, 69, and MB 12, the {2-2-1-1} Pattern has played 112 times.

Three Number Combination(s)

Mega Millions decided to have a little fun and threw out this lone repeating Three-Number Combination:

  • 28, 41, 69
This is not a prank. Source: lotterytrend-megamillions.com.

Here’s the fun part. This Combination made its debut on April 1, 2016. Want to know what’s even nuttier? The Specific Order from that night was exactly like the Specific Order seen this past Friday! The winning numbers were 25, 28, 33, 41, 69, and MB 6 that night. No foolin’!

P.S: Look at how close the numbers that played Friday night are to the ones that played April Fools’ Day! That’s what Lottery Binge is for. The Lottery Trend analysis gurus peek under the hood, do their analysis, and I report it.

We’re going into the 400th Mega Millions drawing with a crazy-large jackpot. There’s a pretty good chance that the grand prize may rise even more before numbers are drawn on Tuesday. Will someone walk away half a billion dollars richer?

The Date That Binds

October is strange. The early part of the month is about autumn finding its legs in the Northern Hemisphere. So far, it has either been a continuation of summer or, if we ask our friends up in western Canada, a complete jump-over into winter. October 3rd was a sticky night not only in Houston, but in Lotto Texas and Powerball, too. Another lottery night meant another night where the grand prizes rose. Right now, they stand at $9.75 million and $253 million, respectively. The Patterns, although wildly different on the surface, had something in common, and not just raising the jackpot.

Three-Number Combination(s)

Amidst the madness was a single repeating Three-Number Combination:

The daytime hours are shrinking, and at least one jackpot is heading for the stratosphere. Will it be a Pattern encore that helps someone become rich beyond his or her wildest dreams Saturday night, or will the jackpots grow once more?

October Heat

The calendar may say “Autumn”, but the summer heat lingers on here in Houston. Sure, it’s not blistering hot, but it’s not exactly pumpkin spice latte weather, either. Mega Millions didn’t get the calendar hint, and things are heating up! There was no grand prize winner October 2nd and the jackpot is now $405 million! There was also a Pattern encore and shades of August past.

General Lottery Analysis

Mega Millions loved the {3-1-1-1} Pattern so much that it made an encore! The 78th appearance of the Pattern was thanks to winning numbers 2, 22, 29, 31, 34, and MB 1.

The End-of-Month Hop-Along

September is over. The beach towels have been replaced with textbooks, the flip flops for shoes, and the holiday decorations are starting to come out in full force. In the lottery world, Lotto Texas and Powerball had their last drawings for the month September 29th. Their grand prizes rose once again, and now stand at $9 million and $229 million, respectively. Saturday night was also a good one for lovers of Australia Plays and (repeating) Combinations.

October is right around the corner and there has yet to be a grand prize winner for either Lotto Texas or Powerball. Likewise, neither lottery is starting the month with a Pattern streak. Will either lottery see an encore, or even see a grand prize winner, in Wednesday’s drawing?

Mega Millions’ September Heights

September for Mega Millions started with a {2-1-1-1-1} Pattern streak. After appearing five times in a row, it was “dethroned” by another Pattern. Since that night, other Patterns took the reins, none of them able to establish a streak, let alone an encore.

September 28th was no different. Friday night saw yet another unique Pattern and a soaring jackpot, now standing at $367 million.

General Lottery Analysis

With winning numbers 39, 45, 52, 56, 59, and MB 15, the {3-1-1-1} made its 397th appearance.

Now with three appearances, the 0 0 1 3 1 1 Specific Order has played in 10.3% of the 29 drawings where the General Order was [1-3-1-1]. This Specific Order has also played in 3.90% of the 77 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. Finally, when looking at all 397 drawings, this Pattern has played 0.76% of the time. The 0 0 1 3 1 1 Specific Order was last seen on October 17, 2017. This was reconfigured from the 0 0 2 2 1 1 Specific Order seen that night. The winning numbers were 31, 45, 49, 56, 70, and MB 11.

Three Number Combination(s)

In addition to a crazy-high jackpot, Mega Millions also ended the month with two repeating Three-Number Combinations!

Going into October, we’re looking at a large grand prize and no Pattern streaks. Will the {3-1-1-1} Pattern make an encore? Will someone walk away at least $367 million richer? We’ll just have to wait until Tuesday night.

Never Gone for Long: Lotto Edition

Before we get to today’s lottery analysis, I want to thank guest blogger Romulun Harris for filling in while I was away.

September is almost over, and what a month it has been! Lotto Texas garnered the most attention with a monstrous {3-2-1} Pattern streak. After an astounding eight consecutive appearances, the Pattern was knocked off its pedestal with an Australia Play.

As we look at what happened on September 26, 2018, there were at least a couple of things Lotto Texas and Powerball had in common:

  1. Neither saw a Pattern encore
  2. Both saw their grand prizes grow to $8.25 million and $213 million, respectively

The third “common” thing is a bit subtler and requires further reading.

Lotto Texas

General Lottery Analysis

The {3-2-1} Pattern didn’t stay off its pedestal for long, coming back strong with winning numbers 6, 13, 18, 30, 48, and 49. This Pattern has now played 832 times.

Down, but not out. Source: lotterytrend.com.

Of the 1589 Lotto Texas drawings, this Pattern has played in 52.4% of them, and was last seen on September 19, 2018.

Now with 156 appearances, the 3 1 2 Specific Order has played in 18.75% of the 832 drawings where {3-2-1} was the winning Pattern. This Specific Order has also played in 9.82% of all 1589 drawings. Prior to Wednesday night, the 3 1 2 Specific Order played on August 4, 2018.

Four-Number Combination(s)

In addition to the return of the {3-2-1} Pattern, there were two repeating Four-Number Combinations, both of which appeared ten years ago!

  • 6, 13, 18, 49 (Debuted December 6, 2008)

With winning numbers 1, 2, 7, 30, 50, and PB 8, the {3-1-1-1} Pattern has now played 62 times.

Given the 311 Powerball drawings so far, this Pattern has played 19.9% of

the time. Like the {3-2-1} Pattern in Lotto Texas, this Pattern played on September 19, 2018.

The [3-1-1-1] General Order made its 17th appearance and has played in 27.4% of the 62 drawings where {3-1-1-1} was the winning Pattern. This General Order has also played in 5.47% of all 311 drawings. We last saw the [3-1-1-1] General Order on May 30, 2018.

Another stand-out moment for Powerball was the debut of the 3 0 1 1 0 1 Specific Order! This has now played in 5.88% of the 17 drawings where [3-1-1-1] was the General Order. This Specific Order has also played in 1.61% of the 62 drawings where the winning Pattern was {3-1-1-1} and in 0.32% of all 311 drawings.

Three-Number Combination(s)

There were no repeating Three-Number Combinations Wednesday night.

September 29th will be the last drawing of the month for Lotto Texas and Powerball. Will the grand prizes continue to increase, or will they be won?
